#3 of The Dragoness and the Swordsman

Daniel followed the trail of blood deep into the caves, soon the sounds of something in anguish and what seemed likes voices reached his ears. The sounds vanished as he followed the bloody trail around the corner into the gold time chamber only to gasp at what he saw there.

Lying against the piles of gold, her leg stretched out beside her, was a beautiful dragoness. Her scales were a vibrant green on her back and they melded to a beautiful blue across her belly that reminded him of looking up at the clear sky. Her chest was heaving as he noticed a number of arrows lodged in her very large and beautiful breasts. Noticing a pair of dusty pink dots upon them as he took in the number of missiles protruding from most of her gorgeous body.

Noticing her terrified eyes locked on his own he slowly approached his hand leaving the handle of his blade where it had rushed to at the sight of her. Slowly he advanced towards her seeing her tail start to lash as she watched him carefully.

Oriana looked up in time to see him, the one she had traded with and enjoyed listening to, standing and staring at her as she lay injured. Realizing she could neither fight him nor flee from his she watched in terror as he slowly approached though relieved to see he had yet to draw his blade.

Daniel examined the beautiful dragoness and when he got closer his torch lit her leg revealing the source of the bloody trail, a large bolt protruded from her thigh leaving the leg useless and bloody. "Your hurt bad" he said as he started towards her to be stopped in his tracks by a voice so soft and beautiful yet tinged with distrust he was both shamed and elated at the same time just to hear it.

"So shall you be the one to finish me off then, Daniel the swordsman, he whom I've traded fairly with?" came her question as her beautiful blue eyes bore into his and he turned to look upon her face. Her face at once strange yet beautiful to him demanded his attention and his answer as if he were under a charm of the strongest kind.

"I'll not harm you. You've helped me with my endeavors and traded fairly and kindly with me for all that I have had need of. You have even allowed me to unknowingly dwell in the midst of your own Den. I would like to help if I may" he said watching as her eyes showed her surprise and the wonder that a swordsman would actually ask to aide her. Having fully expected him to attempt to slay her and claim her wealth as his own.

Oriana was stunned and about to respond when she heard the voices at the entrance to her cavern home. The voices apparently reaching her human benefactor as well as he turned and drew his blade rushing for the entrance.

"The beasts in there lads! A double share of what ever treasure it's hoarding to tha' one who takes er down!" a rather bold and loud man yelled as Daniel entered the main cavern to see a half dozen men advancing into the cave armed with long spears, their eyes searching the for dragoness behind him.

Knowing he had to protect the injured dragoness behind him he stealthily advanced using the darkness to conceal him as he spoke allowing his voce to roll in the cavernous interior. "Take your men and leave this place or else!" he demanded as he moved around to flank an approaching spearmen. He stayed well outside of his range of sight, the crude torch of the center man being the only source of illumination, allowing them only to see a few scant feet before them.

"You'll not be running us off so easily dragon! Come out ere and get yer throat cut! Yer days are up ye great serpent! Yer hide will make fine boots and yer wealth will belong to us of the band of hawks!" the man on horseback yelled into the cave.

the men, now that Daniel was closer, were dressed as thieves and robbers. Wearing a spattering of armor and carrying weapons obviously not made for their wielders and realizing his dragon companion had enticed a band of thieves into her lair he moved quickly and silently as he could taking the first and second men with quick swings of his blade to their throats. He was striking the third when he was spotted.

"There, in the dark there's a swordsman! Get him!" yelled one of the spearmen as the others formed up around the one holding the lantern who had raised the alarm three of their number now laying in the soft earth as Daniel heard a noise and looked out the entry to the cave to see a dozen archers aiming their short-bows at him and he crouched covering himself with his shield as the arrows whistled past some striking the shield with resounding clangs as their iron arrowheads found no weakness in the fine shield.

Daniel was trying to figure out a way to escape the barrage of arrows when the cavern shook with the deafening roar of a dragon. Not from within but from outside. The archers suddenly turned to face their new foe only to be engulfed in a jet of hot flames. Sweat leapt to Daniels brow even as they fell screaming, before another dragon appeared at the mouth of the cave. Larger than the female at the back she was no less beautiful.

Valiceia landed at the mouth of her daughter's lair to find it swarming with human soldiers. Having already laid waste to those outside she quickly cut down the spears-men inside with her tail spotting a swordsman slowly backing further into the cave. Her eyes locked on him boring into his.

Daniel could only watch stunned as the beautiful blue dragoness, with the deep blue scales of her back the shade of ocean, and the white of her belly and chest like soft warm cream, set up obliterating the bandits outside and within as he started to back away her eyes met his. Those same shimmering blue pools as he'd seen in the other dragoness. The short gaze was broken though as she suddenly was barreling towards him.
