#33 of Kyurex

Hi guys, here's the next chapter. Don't think anyone is reading this by now but oh well :) my fault for taking two years to finally write again, huh? xD

Enjoy.

The wind pierced noisily through the forest trees, every now and then an unstable branch would break off and give in to the flow, flying away. It was dark and hauntingly so since not a single soul was wandering around these places during this type of weather, except Kyurex. The Umbreon was in a grumpy mood and rightfully so - the authorities of Hillmay City had cancelled the tournament due to the turbelant weather which didn't show any sign off calming down. It wasn't raining but the wind was unpleasant and cold. Some torches with the purpose of lighting the only path through the woods were already extinguished - the remaining smoke faded away quickly into the darkness.

Nevertheless, the Umbreon didn't halt.

He wasn't going to give up a whole day without training at least for an hour. The exercise he did together with May in the morning didn't count - he hardly did anything himself being more concentrated on what his girlfriend was doing to maybe help her improve in the process. The exercise that followed afterwards...well, that wasn't exactly going to help him win the bronze tournament, was it?

He met Cage earlier that evening right in front of the Battle Corner and the latter told him about training with other Teams near the cliff before the tournament to prep himself before the battles. After the cancellation however he played with the thought of going there again in hopes of at least battling somebody for fun but his teammates weren't up for it, so he decided against it. Kyurex on the otherhand didn't care if ANYONE agreed. He needed to flex his body and maybe let off some steam. Blaze was against the idea and May was in no shape to battle anyhow, due to various circumstances.

"Boss, you still think it's a good idea?" Jeffrey held on to his hat, flapping with his other wing to stabilize himself ontop of the Umbreon. The wind showed now mercy.

"Jeffrey, seriously, you should of went back with the others. I'll be fine, I promise." Kyurex said not yielding. Something petty like the weather wasn't going to stop him.

"But Boss, there ain't gonna be anybody there! Believe me! Murder is what this is!!" He then proceed to catch his hat before it slipped out of his wing. Kyurex didn't quite understand the choice of words his companion used but he could guess what he meant. The terrain which was littered with branches underneath him wasn't exactly pleasant to step on. Kyurex thought of it as an own kind of training though.

It wasn't long before he was forced to stop in front of a scene that was most definitely odd. A purple creature, nearly his size was trying to light an extinguished torch next to the path. His mouth gaped half open with surprise.

"Old man? Wait..." Kyurex suddenly felt a rush, sort of a warning, run through his head. This man spelled trouble - whatever was going to happen in the next several hours was going to give Kyurex more exercise than he was hoping for. also, it was probably not the kind that didn't have its devastating consequences. Before conversing any further he turned around with haste, forgetting his intentions.

I need to get out of here...

The Slowking, realizing who it was that he was dealing with sprang up, pointing his paw towards the Umbreons back.

"Son! Wait!" Kyurex increased his pace. Jeffrey didn't understand a thing. He rapidly exchanged glances between Kyurex and the Slowking. "Son I'm trying to find a student of mine!"

Kyurex stopped, cursing at himself after doing so. Jeffrey was still confused.

"Boss, what's up with-"

"An adversary of mine...though he didn't become one willingly..." the Umbreon turned around to face the Slowking. The latter greeted him with a relaxed expression.

"Why so hasty?" he asked. Kyurex didn't want to get into any deep conversations.

"Old man, say what you have to say, and we'll be on our way. I don't have time right now."

"Hey, nice rhyme Boss-" Jeffrey instantly closed his beak after Kyurex cleared his throat, obviously expressing his unwillingness to hear any comedy relief the bird had in store. The Slowking put his paws behind his back, walking back and forth.

"You see, I'm looking for a student of mine. Have either of you seen a Liepard in the area? Her name is Aya and to be honest, I currently have no idea where she might be."

Kyurex and Jeffrey looked at each other. Kyurex was still suspicious.

"That's all?" Kyurex asked, squinting his eyes in the process. It was pitch dark, but he could still see the Slowkings calm demeanor - and he didn't like it. "You're good at sniffing out my friends but can't seem to locate your students? How does that work exactly?"

The Umbreon was still cautious and he wasn't intending to trust the Slowking after the last few encounters with the old man. It wasn't that he hated him or anything, but he was most likely jinxed to bring the Umbreon bad luck. Again.

"You got me there. She's a special gal, just like you son." He scratched his chin. "Annnd regarding your friends, one of them...let's see..."

Kyurex knew what was coming next. Jeffrey was still busy holding on to his hat. Without a warning the Slowking sprang into motion, pointing his paw towards a random direction where nothing but bending trees seemed to be swaying back and forth in the infinite darkness.

"Aha! Should be this way. Yes indeed. One of your friends should be on the nearby cliff. If you go this way, that is."

Kyurex quickly gathered his thoughts. It made sense - it was probably Cage and the other trainees wanting to do battle. That was definitely some good news - he already felt more at ease knowing that someone he knew would be there.

So he did go after all, probably outwitted his teammates somehow - good.

"Thanks old man! You actually helped me out there!" Kyurex followed the direction he was instructed with. The Slowking wasn't quite finished. Kyurex could care less.

"Oi! If you happen to see a Liepard, tell her I'll be waiting at the Hillmay City Quarters!"

"Yeah yeah, will do old man. Have a nice evening."

O u - u O u - u O u _ u O u

The further they marched, the fewer trees they passed by telling Kyurex that the cliff was nearby. It didn't take long until Kyurex and Jeffrey found themselves standing in front a a broad, lifeless landscape where nothing but the wind blowing through the now grassy terrain could be heard.

"You know Boss, I think that Slowpoke just messed with both of us!" Jeffrey pointed towards the direction they both just came from while gritting his beak. "I'ma MURDA that old geezer!"

Kyurex gave his surroundings another quick glance. Hat they really both just been swindled? Just as he was about to think that it was the truth something caught his attention. An area, which was slightly lit by some torches on the far left side of the cliff. It was probably further away than he thought but it was worth a try. Kyurex gestured towards the light. Jeffrey, with more competent eye-sight agreed and the both ventured forth to search anybody who was willing to battle at this hour, in such a place whilst enduring such weather. It seemed hypocritical and Jeffrey was confident in the fact that no one would show up. He didn't say it out loud of course. Kyurex on the other hand wanted to believe the Slowking even if just for the sake of getting a slight bit of training in before he had to tend to other things. They gradually came closer to the rocky area - but nothing except the few torches that they saw a few moments ago seemed to be moving.

"Hmmm...." Kyurex sniffed around, holding his nose to the ground. This was definitely a place for battle, even with the strong wind being present he could tell from the terrain and the all so slight smell of sweat that creatures battled here a couple of hours ago. Jeffrey fixated his eyes onto something in the dark.

"Someone is here Boss."

Kyurex instantly looked up into the direction Jeffrey was pointing - his ears perked with excitement. Something took a step forward, revealing itself in the light the torches gave off. That was when Kyurex felt something tug inside his chest.

These features were familiar.

"Revy? What the-" Kyurexs voice became a whisper. The Espeon was also struck with something like a shock after observing everyone present. The two Eeveelutions just stood there, as if time itself had stopped around them. Her fur was forced to the side as nothing but the wind disturbed the silence surrounding them.

Was this another coincidence? It couldn't be. True, more or less all the teams traveled through the same path - all the teams needed a place to stay and were obligated to rest at the cities eventually, but why her? Why here? Why NOW? No, this wasn't a coincidence.

Revy was surprised at first and Kyurex could tell that she was forcefully trying to smile. Jeffrey was left in the dark once again.

"Oh I get it, let me guess Boss. Your ex girlfriend? Oh why am I so good, why is my IQ this hig-"

"Jeffrey-"

"Yeah, yeah I got it - going back Boss. I'm hungry anyway. Wait - you didn't hear that, don't want sound like the other idiot now, do I?"

He flapped his wings, mumbling something foreign as he flew away. It didn't take long for Kyurex to realize that he was now alone, standing in front of someone he didn't how to approach or what to speak about with her. Revy stepped to the side, sitting down next to one of the torches. She than looked at the Umbreon again - and seeing him still staring, she smiled.

"Hey..." she whispered. Kyurex carefully sat down, making sure to keep some distance.

"Hey." He said, being careful with the words he chose. He shortly peeked beyond the cliffs and then back at Revy. "So, what are you doing here all alone? Waiting for someone?"

"Ye...Yeah. I am." she too averted her gaze. The Umbreon was relieved that she seemed to have put the past events behind her. The last time they met, it wasn't exactly the most enjoyable moment. She had also called him a monster and now that he thought about it for the first time since the event, she was probably right. He was one. Kyurex tried to speak first.

"Revy I'm-"

"Kyu I wa-"

They both faced each other and stopped as soon as they noticed that they had started at the exact same moment. After some eye-contact filled with embarrassment, they both started to laugh. The Umbreon then let Revy speak first.

"I just...wanted to apologize fir the things I said back then, I wasn't really thinking you know."

"Don't sweat it."

Revy seemed kind of lost. She looked him straight in the eye.

"No, it's actually...convenient to meet you - I've been having this burden on my conscious since forever-"

"Revy, It's okay. No hard feelings." Kyurex spoke up, trying to calm her down. He didn't like seeing her this way, and he knew discussing past mistakes wouldn't do them any good. They didn't have to make matters worse or let them escalate too far like last time. It seemed to be working, Revy took a deep breath and let it out slowly. Kyurex was glad that she seemed to be feeling better.

"I'm glad."

Kyurex was definitely not expecting to end up like this - talking to someone he once harbored feelings for, especially after their awkward last reunion, if you could call it that. Who was she waiting for? He didn't know. Did he care? No. Or at least that's what he thought. Was this the friend the Slowking spoke of? If yes then he...he was correct wasn't he? She was a friend, no matter what had happened in the past.

"Impressive scores by the way..."

"Oh, thanks! I'm trying my best. It isn't easy upholding it tho-"

"Just like when we went to class." she watched the ground again, making Kyurex do the same.

Kyurex didn't know what to say, but he kind of understood what she meant. He was always the best in class- but then again, it was the only thing he WAS good at. It felt good remembering his past accomplishments.

"Yeah, I guess it is kind of like back then." he answered. After finding the courage to look up, he witnessed just how thin Revy seemed. She was never chubby to begin with, but Kyurex knew could tell that she was straining herself for whatever reason it might've been. Her eyes seemed lifeless and Kyurex felt pity. There was a high chance that the outcome of the last encounter, coupled with what she said a moment ago could be the reason for her miserable state. Meaning: he was the reason for it. "I never really apologized did I? After departing like that from you guys."

"You don't have to. A lot has happened since then." Revy shook her head, eventually realizing something. "You know, I didn't really think I could go on without you but - It seems like im still here aren't I?"

Her words pulled on something in his chest. He hated this feeling.

"Revy..."

The Espeon wasn't finished though.

"It's funny...isn't it? Even if you are a dark type now you didn't mention anything about leaving us, and yet we just considered you gone...how idiotic. Funny how stupid someone can be."

"I should have told you guys beforehand. It could have ended up differently. It's my fault too..."

"Remember back then, when you were desperately searching for her...not wanting to accept the truth? I pitied you, wanted to comfort you at first." she said."And then I noticed that I had fallen even harder for you. So in some way, I was actually happy that she was gone."

"Let's not talk about this..." the wind was loud, and Kyurex hoped for it to get even louder - but unfortunately , it didn't. He was started to remember something he ahd long forgotten. Revys voice wasn't filled with sorrow, but rather with an uprising determination, there was something she wanted to know. Something Kyurex didn't want to admit.

"Why? Don't you want to be clear with yourself? Kyui, I don't care what you think about me - but it's not fair." Kyurex stared at her, awaiting the words which were to follow. "It's not fair if our time together was a lie."

He stood up, his ears perked up. He couldn't withhold the bursting emotions within himself any longer.

"Damn it, damn it, DAMN it! It wasn't a lie! I did have feelings for you!" He shouted. Revy wasn't intimidated at all. In fact, she was smiling. Kyurex started to walk around in circles in front of her. His voice grew louder. "Yeah I KNOW after saying it to 3 different people it kind of gets easy doesn't it? Don't ask me how it ended up like this!"

The Espeon grew silent, happy because of what he had said just a few seconds ago.

"Thanks." "But what if... you ever meet her again? Would you still be able to claim you love someone else or...would you finally realize anyone except her is just a replace-"

"Don't. Don't say it Revy."

"It all made sense once I heard rumors about you and May...but you know what? I wouldn't mind." She persisted. Kyurex wanted to disappear. "I wouldn't mind being a replacement...because Angel won't be coming back."

And that was when he broke. It all happened too fast - voice sprang in and out of his head. Voices that kept telling him that he had lost something he held dear.

His mind went crazy. A long abandoned and untouched screw which was implanted in the deepest corner of his memories went lose, resulting in a splitting headache. He yelped in pain. Kyurex dug his head into the ground with all the force he could muster up while enduring the pain. It felt like somebody was stabbing his brain with invisible spikes from all possible angles - quickly, but deadly.

He tried to stop the influx of thoughts but couldn't. Kyurex shoveled the earth with his nails beneath him in vain. It didn't stop.

Revy gasped in shock at the sheer sight - it looked like he was dying. Literally.

"Kyu!! Kyu!! What's wrong?" She quickly sprang to his side, trying to calm him down. Kyurex didn't respond, he was desperately trying to rid himself of the pain. She tried to touch him, witnessing something trickle to the ground. Tears. "Kyu please...please calm down. Gosh I really am stupid aren't I? Why did I blurt that out..."

Angel. The Umbreon didn't want to remember. Angel. His head was throbbing. Angel. He slowly gave into the darkness.

O u - u O u - u O u _ u O u

"Hmm?" Revans left ear perked up. Something was going on. He really didn't feel like waking up, especially when he was curled up so nicely but this time, something told him it was serious. He opened his eyes.

Suddenly, both of his ears stood up.

It was dark, but that was probably the only thing that he was accustomed to Sound? That was unusual. Wind? Unusual. Trees? Well, yeah, real ones at least. Unusual.

An Espeon? Definitely unusual.

"Kyu?! Kyu are you okay? I'm sorry! I didn't mean it! Please!"

Revans eyes widened as he started to comprehend what the place around him was. He grinned - and the smile on his face only grew bigger with every second. He paid no attention to anything else. This was his moment.

Revy didn't understand the sudden change in the creature in front of her.

"Hehe..he..hehe.." Revan took a deep breath. He closed his eyes, standing up in the process. He tightened his muscles.

Finally...

He opened his eyes. A shock wave left his body from all around and spread in a matter of seconds through the whole area. Like a tsunami of invisible strength, it shook the entire cliff in its wake. It even interfered with the winds flow for the duration, making multiple kind of forces push and fling around the littered stones and and anything else that was fixated to the ground in all possible directions. Revy was caught off guard and fell, hurting her leg in the process.

Revans eyes now revealed an intense glow as if he had come back to life and in a way, you could actually say he did. Even though the thought of enjoying the world he had so longed for was enticing, destroying it seemed even more so. His fangs were slowly growing even bigger.

"Hahaha- HAHAHAHA!!!!" he laughed - something he hadn't done for a very long time. The day where he could finally embrace freedom had come - and nothing was going to stop him now. Nothing. The joy he felt couldn't be described.

Revan stopped.

"Hmm?" It wasn't that it had any meaning - no it actually did have a meaning. It annoyed him. Someone was sobbing. It was one of those things he couldn't stand. He cast his eyes upon the Espeon that was standing in front of him a while ago. Now she was a few meters away, curled up whilst holding her leg. Revan approached.

"It's my fault....It's my fault, It's my fault...why..." she cried, and it wasn't because of the pain in her leg. Her chest hurt too. Tears trickled down her cheeks. She could feel the danger from the creatures presence alone.

"Sad are we? Is your life so miserable?" Revan stopped in front of her. " Should I...GET RID OF IT FOR YOU??"

Revy gasped as Revans grinning face appeared before her. He laughed, swinging back to his initial position. His expression turned serious. The Espeon was scared. The fangs, the red glow in his eyes - the power. This couldn't possibly be the Umbreon she so deeply loved.

"What...what happened to you Kyu?"

"Kyu? You mean Kyurex? Hahahaha..." he laughed once more. He then noticed the fear in the Espeons expression, shaking his head in the process. This life form was too miserable to even annoy him any further. Her current state was less than weak - it was nothing. There was no life inside her. Revan then sat down next to her, tilting his head. "You know - you're so pathetic - how do you even exist? Intriguing."

Revy was scared, so much that couldn't find anything that would suit as an answer. What was going to happen to her? Was this Kyurex or not? Her leg was killing her. Revan smiled drawing closer and closer every second. She could feel his breath upon her.

That was when she gave up.

Revan was a bit surprised.

"You aren't even retaliating? Do all of you throw away your life this easily or are you just stupid?" Again, he felt a certain rage resurge."But don't worry."

Revy screamed in pain as a set of sharp fangs pierced through her neck. The pain dispersed and turned into a scorching hot feeling that made her feel every single inch of her body. A loud voice echoed in her head, as if from the pits of hell itself.

I'LL DISSOLVE THE LAST DROP OF LIFE INSIDE YOU AND WITHER YOUR EXISTENCE INTO NOTHINGNESS!!
