#1 of Chronicles of Drias

Part 1 of the backgroundstory and life of Drias, a normal average cheetah-anthro which ended up becoming a cybernetical hybrid.

A chilling cry of pain echoed through his head. It seemed to have awoken him. Drias was still alive?? His vision was at first blurred but gradually came back to him. He looked down; a hand with razorsharp formed talons had buried itself in an once living human being. The smell of blood filled his nostrils. A sharp iron-like taste, all too familiar to him, filled his mouth. Was this all a dream, a nightmare even? Where was he? What was he?

He could move; with an effortless movement he broke his strangely clawed hand free from the lifeless body. With terror he looked down on his own hand; sleekly formed but rubbery at first sight. The ends of his fingers smoothly evolved into long razor sharp talons. Only the more shiny material distinguished it from the rest of the hand. Blood dripped down from the claws, still warm, still fresh.

His mind was racing as his gaze went from the hand to the rest of his arm; mechanics of various unknown kinds became part of his arm; a smooth biomechanical alloy replaced that what once was fur. Pistons and hydraulics were moving every time he moved a finger. Bright blue conducts were merged with the tops of his fingertips, which traced down the fingers and continued over his whole arm. The bright blue parts were glowing vividly, humming as if alive. The arm continued in this same material until his shoulder, where the mechanics crawled like a husk over half his chest. There the alloy seemed to emerge seamlessly from his fur; spotted and familiar, like the cheetah he used to be. His eyes widened as his gaze followed the rest of his body, which seemed to have been modified as well; his other arm was still normal furred tough the lower arm was identically clawed as the left one.

His breathing became faster as he stood up, totally confused. His senses were as sharp as ever, maybe even sharper then before; smells, sounds and even the surroundings were more vivid then he could remember.

His legs weren't that what he remembered them to be either; the dark alloy emerged from his legs and seemed to have fully replaced his fur here as well. Radiant blue pulsing lines moved downwards over the almost smooth alloy. His lower legs were formed by two separate pieces of the alloy; you could see through the parts of legs here. Hydraulics , moving soundlessly with his own movement were aligned along them and blinking blue parts sometimes lid up the ground underneath. His feet were made up of two parts; a hinged part where four large metallic looking claws emerged from, and a heavier seeming piece which formed into his digit graded leg. The same blue glowing lines formed over these limbs, pulsing with energy. His thoughts fastened, almost panicking; What had he become? He looked down at his victim again and suddenly small markers, info and other data appeared in front of his eye in the form of some sort of augmented reality. He hissed in a mixture of anger and fright as he tried to keep hold on reality. He reached out for his own face, only to discover that one side of his face felt different, non-furred. Distressed screams of agony filled the air again, however, this time it were his own screams. His voice now had a mechanical dark vibrating undertone. His tail swished aggressively behind him, slamming a couple of times on the tiles underneath till it lay silent again. It was long and had shackles of the biomechanical alloy over the full length. Between the shackles the bright blue glowing could be noticed, seemingly hot since tiles underneath started to crack due to the emitted heat.

Both claws still covered his face as he stood silent in the dim lid room. His breathing became slower again. So Drias didn't die...but what happened..._He removed the claws from his face, only to leave a streak of blood smeared on it. He peered once more down on his victim on the floor, which now lay in a puddle of his own blood. The biomechanical feline hissed once more in anger and confusion but kept his mind together this time. He peered around, surveying his surroundings, grinding his fangs together. He seemed to be located in a small dimly lid room with a stairs leading upwards at the opposite side of where he currently stood. He struck his victim at the end of the room; probably trapped him there. The room didn't look very well-tended; brick walls, filled with cracks and dust formed the premises of the chamber. Some broken stones and wood waste lay scattered across the tiled floor. The air felt damp and somewhat humid. Next to the sweet scent of the fresh dead body, the lingering stench of fungal growth could be perceived, clinging in his nostrils. He sniffed once. _So Drias had been altered...but by whom and why?_His glance went back to the corpse for a moment and he smirked. _Well...that could be the purpose. Was he once again used to assassinate like hundreds of years ago? His eyes widened for a moment; he almost forgot how smooth the mechanics on him looked. Wait...when did he live currently? Maybe his victim had more information regarding that on his body. He kneeled at the body and started to inspect it; the male he had killed wore some kind of body armor, not like ancient times but more or less like a tactical vest. It did look more advanced then what Drias was used to, however, it didn't seem to have protected the male against Drias' attack though. The garb was popped inside like a cleaved tin can, where a big gaping hole could be seen in his chest. For the rest the man wore plated pants and very worn-out leather boots with plating on it also. A pistol lay on the ground near his right hand; it seemed he had either tried to defend himself or he used it to attack Drias. The weapon looked awkward however; it was covered with a wide variety of electronics; blinking lights, pulsing chargers and metric displays. Drias picked up the pistol with some curiosity. The weapon was humming softly; this pistol was without doubt more advanced then what he was used to in the year 2001...the year of the explosion....He shuddered for a moment but the light in his more mechanical eye dimmed a bit. It was the last thing he remembered of that day. The road he took lead him into an industrial area. He had taken the route before, a shortcut between cities. However, this time, as he passed through, an explosion occurred and he was flung away by the gravity of the blast. He remembered the high pitched noise in his ears; being deafened by the explosion. Also...blood; he was wounded. After this all; another rumble, he felt the ground shake underneath him; a building collapsing? Then suddenly a sharp biting pain and utter darkness; lights out.
