Chapter 2

Fate's Reoccurrence by WarWorgen

A man stood before the base of the mighty Teldrassil and among its branches Darnassus, capital city of the Night Elves. He was like any other fair-skinned human wearing the tabard of a knight, though his brown hair was slightly unkempt. He looked skyward with his deep, sea-blue eyes as he sat upon his ebon griffon staying stationary for only a moment.

"Alright girl," he said before whistling a two phase tone. The griffon reacted and followed her master's directions as she trotted forward, passing the damaged roots on her way out the docks but this man was not here for sightseeing. Once she was up to speed he gently pulled back on the reigns and the griffon spread her wings and with only a few strong wingbeats was airborne.

Climbing higher into the sky he flew in Teldrassils' shadow for quite some time. Just looking down at the dark water beneath them was enough to make him feel tired. It wasn't long before the debris strewn shores of Darkshore came into view. What had once been a lush forested shore was now devastated.

He continued to guide his griffon higher as he was now in the foothills of Mount Hyjal. Like skeletal fingers reaching up for him the dying Trees of Felwood came ever closer. He still had to make it just a little bit higher to avoid crashing into a rock face. Not long and he would be where he needed to.

Cresting the ridgeline he was blasted by a fragrance of fresh flowers and warm meadows, he knew he had passed into Moonglade. The difference from the poisoned woods of Felwood was remarkable and he never got tired of it.

He had been making this flight for months now. Fortunately soldiers and adventurers were common so he presence was not unexpected in Nighthaven. Landing at the nesting pad he handed the care of his griffon over to the large male Tauren there and he then walked across the twisting bridges of the ancient elvin city.

His departure from the city also went unnoticed and making his way across the rocky terrain he found the pre-arranged location.

"Hello?" came a deep, rumble of a voice.

The man turned in the direction of the sound and replied in Taurahe like they had arranged {Greetings Traveler}

A snort followed by a chuckle ensued like it always did, "Malthus, it is you, good. That accent you have speaking Taurahe always makes me laugh."

Malthus chuckled, "I'm glad you find it amusing. Speaking it is like gargling with sandpaper."

The silver-blue furred male Tauren stepped out from the rock and leaned back against it. He smiled, "Speaking your common always feels like I am talking through my nose." He paused a moment to smile, "I am glad you made it back." His expression turned serious, "I know I said I would not ask but since we've reached our final lessons I am curious as to why you would want to learn a language that is hardly used outside of Mulgore."

Malthus scuffed the ground with his boot, "I wanted to learn it, and more about the Tauren, To be able to speak to one without having to go through a translator."

The silver Bull snorted, qwerking an eyebrow at him.

Malthus looked back, "What? The Tauren culture is fascinating. Had it been a human come ashore all those years ago we likely wouldn't have to be so secretive. By the way, this is about the time of one of your festivals. Midsummer I believe."

The Bull nodded, "Indeed, you remembered. Well done." He changed languages, {You have learned much young one but there is more to our tongue then mere words.} He turned, {Follow me...}
