<-WARNING-> This story has BAD SPELLING...

I wanted to try something different in my writing style~

After some urging from my mate at the time and some close friends I decided to write the first 4 chapters.

Eventually the story died off in the fifth chapter when I lost interest in it and hit a writers block.

So enjoy the first four finished chapters and the unfinished fifth chapter of the project I dubbed, "Prisoner."

Chapter One

The Cell

"THOSE BASTARDS LEFT YOU TO GET CAUGHT! They planned it from the start, three guys take the front, four the back, nice and easy, in and out... How could you be so stupid to think that it would go like that when robbing the richest bank in the city... Oh, I know why, that vixen of yours... That sweet thing that TURNED TAIL AND LEFT YOU FOR THE FEDS!!" Lister hits his curled up fist on the brick wall of his small cell, his anger seething in his throat and his veins. He looks up at the cracked mirror on his wall. Looking back at him is a rather tall and lanky red fox, with bright blue eyes, tears running in streams down his cheeks as he pleeds to his reflection. "No... I refuse to think that she would do that to me... T-theres no way Annet would do that to me..." As he looks at his reflection, its face contorts into a look of anger and hatred, its eyes glowing a dark blood red. "Oh really? She was so distant from you in the weeks leading up to the heist... Always hanging around Drak... I bet she was sleep'n with the fucker. What was it that pop told us? Never trust a vixen, specialy not one that robs banks fer a liv'n... But you had to go and fall in love wit 'er didn't cha..." Lister looks at his reflection, he feels his hatred for his friends seeping into his mind. "Stop it... No... I got caught becasue I fucked up on my end... I didn't get to the van quick enough... AND IT'S NOT LIKE IT MATTERS! I'm stuck in this cell 'til I die!" As he yells this he accents the point by slaming his fist into the already damaged mirror, causing it to shatter and fall to the ground around his feet. "Oh really? I guess we'll see about that..." A loud bang comes from the cell door and a voice booms, "Prisoner 2231-2332, present your hands through the slit." Lister walks over and does as the voice instructs, sliding his paws through the small opening in the door, after he does someone on the other side roughly grabs them and cuffs them together. The handcuffs are too tight and cut into Lister's wrists slightly, causing him to grimace and grit his teeth. After a few moments a loud "CLUNK" echoes from the solid steel door and it swings open where two large buff german shepards tower over him. They both wear millitary grade kevlar and tactical padding, one of them brandishing a state-of-the-art carbine while the other has a large caliber handgun in his holster, both of the hounds bearing looks of bordom mixed with agression. "Hurry the fuck up prisoner, I ain't got time to wait for your ass..." The guard with the hand gun grabs Lister's cuffed paws and yanks him out into the narrow hallway before the other guard slams the cell door shut and chuckles, proding Lister in the back with the barrel of his rifle. Lister looks at the gaurd infront of him and the guard hits him in the gut with a tight, armored fist. "EYES TO THE GROUND FUCKER! Now follow me, and hurry it up. The boss ain't a man to be kept waiting for some slow shit like you." The guard reaches forward and clicks a collar with a leash around Lister's neck. He gives it a harsh test tug that almost sends Lister to the ground, and after he recovers the rear guard prods him again and the lead guard tugs him along. As he walks, he passes other cells with no glass, Lister has no way of seeing who's inside. After being lead for what feels like an eternity, passing cell after cell, turning corners, going from one bleak, dimly lit hallway to another, before he finaly arives at a large wooden door. The lead guard dog opens it and enters, tugging Lister along with him, the rear dog barely waits for Lester to pull his tail in before slaming the door shut and standing at attention. Lister looks around the room, taking in its bleak colours and lack of decorations, the only thing in the room is a metal chair. The lead dog tugs him over to it then shoves him down, his arms smashing into the back rest of the chair. Infront of Lister is a one way glass mirror, a microphone and a speaker. As he examines the speaker, a loud authorative voice booms from it, "What is this, can't we be civil no more? Take off his cuffs and that leash. You boys look like you were 'bout to roast the poor sap." The voice chuckles and with a grunt and a growl the first guard dog takes off Lister's cuffs and un-clicks the leash. "Now then..." There's a sound of paper shuffling and the speaker clears his throat, "Prisoner 2231-2332..." The voice grumbles and chuckles slightly, "Bah, fuck the numbers, Lister Harven, how has lock down been treat'n ya?" Lister leans forward and with a uneasy voice he speaks back. "Uhh... I-It's... Okay I guess..." He stutters out, not a moment later the voice chuckles and he hears him shifting around slightly. "Ha! We both know that's bullshit son, you hate it here... Everyone does. But that's not the point of me bringing you down here for this little... Chat. I want to know... Why you're here, boy." Lister grimaces and grits his teeth, his veins boiling slightly as he is called "boy" and "son" by some rich Mercenary warden, but the feeling quickly passes and he lets out a reluctant sigh. "That's all, sir? Okay then... Where should I start?" "Take me back to the planning of the heist, tell me about every member, and how you related to them." The speaker crackles. Lister sinks into his chair, flashes of his "friends" pass through his mind and he chuckles softly. "Well then... Let's get started..."

Chapter Two

The Team

"Well, to start there was our team leader, Drak, biggest Husky I'd ever seen in my life. He was a natural for planning good jobs and leading a team, plus he always divided up the loot fairly. Never hogged a cent the entire time I was workin' with 'im." Lister chuckles, and he feels his heart start to race as he talks about his old friend and boss. The faintest sound of somthing scratching can be heard over the speaker and after a few moments, it stops then the voice booms again. "Well, he sounds like a great guy, but please continue." Lister stretches his shoulders a little then nods to the mirror. "Then, there was Annet. She was the team smooth talker, she would go in and distract the cashiers and guards while we got into place, she was damn good at it too..." Lister trails off as he thinks about his mate, a feeling of betrayal rises in him, but he pushes it away and continues on. "There was also, Glave, Hatchet, and Warhammer. Brother Dragons from the same clutch, also some of the thickest fucks this side of the diamond crushers." Lister lets a soft chuckle out, slightly shaking his head. The speaker also chuckles softly before more scratching sounds are emitted from the speaker. "Anyone else?" The speaker booms. Lister scratches his chin and nods. "Yeah, there was also Spanner, our driver, one of the fastest and most skilled drivers in the city, he got us out of more than one bad set up before." "That's, seven of the eight, leaving you son... What did you do on the team?" The voice asks in a somewhat softer tone. Lister grins and shrugs slightly reclining in the chair. "Me? I was the team hacker, I would shut down the computer systems and automated sentry bots. I don't like to toot my own horn, but back in our golden days I was one of the best hackers around, there was no security system that could stop me. Banks, police stations, hell even millitary bases, easy as pie." Listen crosses his arms behind his head and chuckles, "Damn, it feels like it was only yesterday that we all got together as a bunch of friends and decided to take back some money from the rich fucks around this city..." Lister sits up with a face sudden realization, "OH, uh, not you sir, you're actually friendly unlike alot of those other fucks, letting the poor starve and such..." The speaker cuts him off. "Bah thats all good kid, I dont like them rich assholes myself... I have one question for you though... If your team was as good as you say, how did you get caught, and they all got free?" In a sudden instant, Lister's rage overtakes him and he stands up kicking the chair back and growling, his eyes glowing red and his face contorted into a snarl. "THE MOTHER FUCKERS SET ME UP!! THEY SHOULD ALL BE IN HERE!!! I HAD THE EASY JOB!! I---" Lister is cut off as the gurads rush him and tackle him to the ground, pinning his arms and legs as he thrashes vilolently. After a few minutes of strugling, the speaker squacks again. "Thats quite a flare you got their kid, and that ain't no natural thing ethier... What did they do to you..." The guards lift him back into the chair with a massive struggle but after they get cuffs on his arms and legs then easily hold him down in the chair, his eyes flickering red and his nose bleeding. After a few moments his eyes turn back to blue and his face relaxes, his guards still keep him pushed into the chair. He looks up into the mirror and turns his head slightly, behind his right ear is a small red scar thats only visable becasue his fur and hair are shaved away. "They put this fucking Thing in my head, They said it would help me think faster, be a better hacker... All it does is make me angry..." Lister looks back at the mirror, the blood from his nose runs down his face and drips off his chin onto the floor, the room falls quiet aside from Listers haggered panting and the two gaurd dogs' heavy breathing. Several minutes pass before the speaker talks again, this time, in a deep serious tone. "Son, whatever they put in your head... It's fucked you up to another level... I'm sorry, but for the interest of every person in this facillity, you need to be put down... Guards... You know what to do." The speaker clicks off with a loud SNAP. The guards look at each other and chuckle, they let off Lister, the one with the hand gun chuckles and smiles cocksurely to the other guard. "Hey, you heard the warden, we get to shot this mutt... But do you think he would care if we had a little fun with him first?" The guard chuckles and hits one clenched fist into his other open paw. His friend chuckles and slings his rifle over his shoulder. "I bet he wouldn't give two fucks how beat up an' bruised this shit's body is once we put the round in his head." The first guard smiles and pulls out a small key for the cuffs. "How about we make it interesting and let the little shit fight back?" The second guard shrugs and grins. "Sure, why not, I haven't had a good fight in over two weeks." The first gaurd chuckles and nods, leaning over Lister and unlocking the hand cuffs. As soon as the lock clicks, Lister's eyes glow red and he jumps up, moving with such ferocity and agillity the guard dosent even see what happens as Lister slides a shard of the broken mirror out from his sleve and uses it to slit the hounds throat. After he does he reaches into his holster, grabing his hand cannon and levels it on the other guards head. With a loud CRACK, the other guard's head explodes in a shower of red and pink, his headless body slumps to the ground clenching at his rifle strap. Lister stands there holding the gun in the room with the two empty bodies for a few moments before his eyes fade back to blue. With a loud gasp he drops the gun and raises his shaking paws to his face, looking at the blood on his hands. "W-w---what have I d--d-done..." As soon as he asks, a voice rings in his head, dark and malicous. "No, What have WE done."

Chapter Three

The Escape

Lister looks at the mirror, he sees his reflection looking back but then it starts moving on its own, crossing its arms and looking at him with a dark grin, its eyes glowing that blood red. "See buddy, now you have a chance to escape, all you have to do is let me be in control and we can be out of here in probably twenty minutes." Lister trembles slightly as his reflection talks back to him, moving on its own accord. "W--what the hell... Ar-are you?" Lister stutters out before his reflection smiles and rolls its eyes. "I'm you shit-head, just, the better side of you, as these two mutts learned." The reflection jestures at the ground and smiles. "But... No... NO NO NO NO NO!!! WHAT ARE YOU!!! YOU CAN----" Lister is cut off as he looses control of his body, he feels like he is shoved aside, and he continues screaming inside his head but cant do anything as his reflection takes control. "Ahhhh, much better, now then... Let's get out of here, shall we?" Lister watches as his body crouches down and picks the hand cannon up off the floor and walks over to the headless guard, yanking the carbine off his corpse and out of his clenched hands. He also grabs a key card out of the guard's pocket and walks up to the door sliding it into the receptical, with a hiss the door unlocks and he walks into the hall, handcannon in his right hand looking up and down the hall way, he smiles and chuckles then he mutters under his breath, "Really, no alarm? Awww... I feel so... Unimportant..." He heads right down the hall, passing sevral other large wooden doors. He continues down the hall untill it ends at a massive steel blast door, he chuckles and slides his card into the reader. With a loud hiss and sevral massive pops the door begins to crack open, Lister lurches forward through the gap before it's fully opened, doing a roll and checking the new hall before standing up, it's larger than the previous one, and there are signs next to each room labeling them for what they are. He continues down the hall, passing several empty office rooms until he gets to a fork, to his right are more offices and a double door but to his left is a another large blast door with the words ARMORY stamped on it. Lister grins and walks towards the armory door, opening the door with his card and readying his hand cannon, as soon as the door pops, it slides open, inside is a guard reading a book, he looks up as the door opens but before he can react his head is turned into a shower of red matter and his body slumps to the floor and Lister walks forward, smiling. "Pathetic security for a maximum security prison, all these lazy ass contract mercs, only in it for the money." After a short chuckle he walks over to a locker with the numbers 04 on it, he opens it and laughs again, "Really? Not even fucking locked? What the hell." He opens it all the way, inside is a full suit of the kevlar armor the guards wear. Lister quickly strips out of his orange prison jumper and puts on the black and grey combat armor, then he looks around the locker a bit more to see if he missed anything. After he is sure he has the full uniform, he steps back and walks to the weapon locker, opening it with equal ease. He smiles as he looks over the cutting edge millitary grade weapons. Shotguns, carbines, rifles, and even a pair of sniper rifles, he takes some ammo for his handgun and carbine and closes the doors, walking past the headless guard and back into the hall way. He looks around and besides a bathroom, the armory is the only door in this hall, he sighs and walks back to the split, looking over at the open blast door but proceds down the hallway past several more offices. Once he gets to the end a double door greets him with the word EXIT above it. He smiles and scratches his chin. "Now am I REALLY going to belive that this is the exit? Well, what other choice do I have, curl up in a cell and die I guess... But thats no fun." He pushes the door open and is greated by the nearly blinding light of the sun, he chuckles and looks around the exterior of the faciltiy. He's in a small courtyard, armored and heavily upgraded SUVs sit parked on each side of him, at the far end of the facility is a large iron barred gate, nothing one of these monster trucks couldnt handle. He walks over to one of the trucks and tries the handle, it snaps down without opening, Lister throws his head back and laughs. "Figures the one thing I actually need, is locked... Oh well." He looks at the door seeing a small card recptical, he slides his card in, the door makes sevral loud CH-LUNK sounds as its locks disengage, then he trys the handle again, it clicks and the door swings open, he grins and climbs up into the monster of a vehicle. Once he is in the driver's seat, he slams the door shut and looks around. The cramped interior of the vehicle is filled with electronics and readout screens. He continues searching, his eyes passing over the massive abundence of devices untill he finds a small red button, with a quick flex of his arm he pushes it down and the truck's engine roars to life, all of the screens and instruments flicker alive, filling the dark intirieor of the truck with a orange and blue glow. After a few moments the devices finish booting up and a deep male operating voice booms out. "Automatic or manual controls?" Lister smiles and wraps his hands around the steering wheel. "Manual please, and could you put on something... Loud." A grin creeps arcross Lister's face as a heavy metal song starts blaring in his ears. He slams his foot down on the acclerator and with a loud squeel of burning rubber and a roar of the massive engine the truck takes off as Lister spins the wheel, aiming the car towards the front gate. As he approches it two guards walk out aiming carbines, probably investigating the noise, but before they can get away, the truck smashes the gates down ontop of them then crushes them under its heavy off-road tires, Lister lets out a deep, evil laugh, his eyes glowing blood-red as he drives the tank of a truck down the dirt path towards the large metroplex better known as Savanna City, the place where his "friends" are hiding.

Chapter Four

The Reunion

As Lister drives towards the city, he chuckles and looks over at a nearby monitor and smiles. "Mmmmmm... Who first, to get back to... Actually... Fuck it, let's get 'em all back together." He pulls the truck over into an old abandoned shipping lot, ancient shipping contaniers tower over him on either side as he drives towards a rusted warehouse labeled D-236. As he pulls up to the door he smiles and parks his truck, the engine finally quieting down and he steps out, his heavy boots splashing into a puddle of what can only be described as liquid filth. He pays it no mind as he walks towards the massive rusted gate, placing his hands on his hips and he lets out a pleasant sigh as he looks the door over. "Good to see nothing has changed while I was locked up... Now if I can just..." He walks towards the door, sliding his gloved hand across its corroded surface, his hand sliding over the ancient door untill it comes across a slight notch. A smile creeps across his face as he presses it down and with a loud creak and groan of heavy machinery, the door starts to crack open, rust particles floating down as it slowly cracks open. Being impatient of the door, Lister walks through into the dark interior of the empty warehouse. More shipping containers fill the inside of the facility. As he takes a few steps inside, his eyes adjust and he looks around, his smile turning to a sneer. "WHERE THE FUCK IS MY SHIT!!" He throws his arms up and growls, walking towards an empty work bench, he hears footsteps behind him, then the all too well known sound of a shotgun shell being chambered. "Who the fuck are YOU!" The shotguns owner yells out, their voice a harsh femanine snarl, Lister chuckles and drops his arms to his sides, a smirk on his face. "Me, well, I am the owner of this fine piece of real estate, the real question is..." He spins around drawing his gun and levaling it on the wielders head, his smirk intensifies as his eyes meet with her's, "Who are you?" The women flinches as he spins faster then she can track, her face is obscured by shadows but from her outline Lister can make out that she's a fox. "N--No... Thats not possable... The previous owner is in prison... You cant be... L--Lister?" The women shakily says, fear in her voice. "The one and only." He walks towards her, sliding his gun into its holster and holding his arms out to the sides, The vixen dosent lower her gun, but it shakes in her hands, Lister grins and chuckles, "Awwww, what's the matter, didn't you miss me? I know I missed you, Annet." The vixen backs up, the gun shaking more in her hands, as she backs into the light, her purple fur becomes easier to see, her green eyes filled with fear. "B--But you're supposed... To be locked away..." Lister casually walks towards her his tail flicking behind him. "I got let out for... Good behavior." He smirks walking straight up to her and pressing his chest into the barrel of her shotgun, Annet shakes as his eyes look deep into hers. With a smile, he slowly places his paws on her weapon and pushes it down, leaning forward untill his nose is only an inch from hers, "So Annet, tell me, what have you been up to since I was locked away?" "W-Why are you here... Why did you come back here..?" She whispers out, a tear running down her cheek. Lister smiles and softly shushes her, raising his paw and wiping her tear away with his fingure. "Shhhhh, it's okay... I'm not here to kill you, I've moved on... In fact, I'm here becasue I want to get the team together again, just like old times..." Annet looks at him confused, fear still preasent in her voice but not as strong. "Lister... We've moved on since then... After you got caught, we went our seprate ways..." Lister chuckles softly and smiles at her, his eyes bearing into hers. "Now now Annet, we both know that you still keep in touch, a group as tight as ours, we were like family, and you know what they say... Families never forget." Annet shakes and walks back more, steping back out of the warhouse, her rectangular glasses giving off a slight relflection. Lister keeps up with her, never taking his eyes off hers. "C'mon! It'll be fun, we can kick back, drink a few beers with Glave and his brothers while Drak gives us the low-down on some BIG corprate bus---" Annet cuts him off as he talks, tears rolling down her face. "Drak is gone... I can get the others... But Drak is gone... After you got locked up, he just disappeared... Gone... Off the face of the earth..." Tears roll down her face, Lister sighs and narrows his eyes slightly. "Tragedy then... Well, I guess we dont NEED the whole team." Lister looks at her crying, his eyes slightly fade to blue, as they do he wraps his arms around Annet, holding her in a tight hug, "I'm sorry Annet..." As he wraps his arms around her she leans pulls her head back slightly and gasps. "L--Lister... Its been ten years... W-we need to talk..." Lister lets her go and nods slightly, a tear running down his cheek. "Agreed... Here, get in my truck." He gestures to the White SUV and walks to the driver side door, Annet looks at the truck with hesitation, after a few moments she reluctantly walks over to the passenger side door and opens it, climbing up into the truck, once she's in the seat she closes the door and looks over at Lister, his eyes glowing a soft blue as he looks back at her. She sighs and clentches her teeth, placing her shotgun on her lap. "Lister... What you said earlier... About you missing me... Was that true?" Lister sighs and nods, looking at her pain in his eyes and in his soul. She looks at him, looking deep into his eyes, after a few moments she smiles slightly, another tear running down her cheek, "Good... Becasue I missed you too... I've been alone for the last ten years... Watching over this shit-hole, keeping the state-payed mercs and the local gang-bangers out... Every once and awhile getting a call from Glave or Spanner... We would talk about the old days... About the old heists we did... We even talked about doing what you propose, getting together and doing a job... But life happend to them... Spanner has a family now, a wife and two kids... and the brothers, they all work in a small welding buisness... Life happened to them... But not me, I was sitting here, thinking about you, hoping one day you would be back... And now that you are, it almost dosen't feel real, like this is some sick dream..." She looks down at her feet, closing her eyes and sobbing softly, Lister places one of his paws on her shoulder, she looks up and sees him smiling back at her, tears running down his face. "This ain't no dream babe... I'm here, I'm real... And I'm back for good." Annet smiles weakly and places a paw on his. "Good... I don't think I can ever live without you again..."

Chapter 5

Just like old times...

Lister drives the truck down old abandond roads, passing by burned and rusted husks of what used to be cars. He looks over at Annet who is busy typing information into one of the many screens infront of her, a slight smile creeps across his face. The distant lights of Savanna City tower over the demolished and desolate remains of once tall and strong brick houses, giving them a look of forgoten hope. the outskirts of the city look like a warzone, and basicly should be treated as such, the "Police" never patroll out in these parts, unless their out here to loot and pilliage the ruins, and gangs run rampent, starting turf wars and fighting the few cops who give a damn about the law. As Lister looks out at the remains, he cant help but wonder what happend to this place, ten years ago, these streets we filled with cars and were bustling with activity, Annet notices him looking out and she lets out a soft sigh, taking her paws off the keyboard in front of her. "A year after you were locked up, some rich business type took over Savanna City, he ordered massive walls and automated defefnses built around the central city he also got rid of the standard police, giving all of thier work over to his massive Private Army. People flocked to the central city, looking for work and wanting to get behind the walls, for fear of nothing, after a few years of mass migration theirs barely anyone left out here... I was the only person within fifty miles that wasnt part of a gang" she sighs and hangs her head for a bit before she goes back to typing, "But thats the past... Theirs no reason to hang onto it... Theirs more in important things at hand, like getting to this meeting place that Glave set up." Lister looks at her slightly raising one of his brows. "Hes setting up the meeting? How do I know this isent some sort of setup..." Annet looks at him reasuringly. "Lister, I didnt mention your back, its going to be a shock to them once we get there, but I think its more so a fact that he dosent want to be seen by the mercs." Lister grunts, still unhappy that he couldnt set the meet on his terms, but he continues driving, the Shinning wall of silver is easily vissable as they get closser to their meet location. After a few more mintutes of driving, Lister pulls the truck into the parking lot of a small shoping mall, most of the stores are broken and vacent but one of them has metal plates and girders over the doors and behind all this protection a soft warm oragne glow emminates. Annet looks at lister and points towards the store. "Thats the place, the brothers welding buisness." She grabs her shotgun off her lap and opens her door, hopping down and then slaming the door shut, Lister follows suit, getting out of the truck and following behind her, as they get to the door of the shop Annet walks over to a keypad and puts in a code, then they wait there for what feels like an eternity untill the massive sheet of metal that is a gate begins to creek open, after it slides all the open, Annet walks thru Lister following close behind, once thier inside the gate begins to shut behind them, Lister looks back then looks at Annet. "This is feeling like a trap to me..." Annet chuckles and smiles at him, she reaches out and takes on his paws in hers. "If it is a trap, their gunna have to kill me too, cause no one is taking you from me again."
