Grey War

Chapter 5

  • File missing -

Where am I? Who am I? Questions flew through the Sheppard's head like a swarm of angry wasps and a nest. Why couldn't he remember? Why? Why!?! Why!?!

"Do you not remember your name?" The Sheppard looked back. There was a rather curved coyote and a well built red panda sitting across from him. The coyote had a worried look on her face, almost as if she didn't know what to do. She asked again. "Do you remember your name?" He shook his head in response. "No."

The coyote and the red panda looked back to each other. "Well. My name is Aria." The coyote said. "And this is Ray." She pointed to the panda next to her.

"Aria... Ray." He said looking to both of them. "Who am I?" He asked. They both looked a worriedly to each other. Ray answered. "We don't know." He shifted uncomfortably in his seat.

"Look... Maybe you have some ID with you? You needed it to get into the station..." Aria said to him. She looked around for a bag of some kind. Or anything that could lead to an ID.

"You have anything that could help us?" Ray asked the Sheppard.

"Umm..." He looked about him, nothing that he could remember... Then again... He didn't really remember anything...

"Maybe on your coat tag? Or your hat?" Aria mentioned. The Sheppard removed his hat, It had some text on the back inside rim of the hat.

"It says something." Ray and Aria leaned forward to read the small tag.

"Machine washable." Ray said with a slightly disappointed frown. He leaned back into his seat. "Well... At Central, there are nurses and doctors... I'm sure someone will know what to do... Maybe even have some experience with something like this. "

The Sheppard stopped. "What's Central? Where is Central?" He asked.

"Central is where the Guardians learn to... Well... Become Guardians." Aria said. "Where we learn to fight to protect the kingdoms."

The Sheppard thought for a moment... It was dim... Very dim... But some how... That seemed familiar to him... Like a wisp of smoke. Just the littlest bit familiar...

"I... It seems familiar..." The Sheppard put his head into this hands and tried to think... Everything... It was so blurry in his mind... He couldn't remember anything... But he knew it was there.... Just out of reach in his mind.

"Yeah, it's the point of us Guardians." Ray said pointedly. "We protect the kingdoms form chaos and tyranny." He raised his fist into a heroic position. Almost as if he was posing for a cover screen for an action movie.

That part didn't seem as familiar to the Sheppard. Fighting for the kingdom seemed to be somewhat familiar, but a cool action pose? That part didn't seem to ring any bells... "I... I still don't remember." He said quietly.

Aria came over and sat down next to the Sheppard, he looked up to her. She looked rather nice... He thought. She gave a little smile, and placed her hand down on his shoulder. The feeling made him jump. "What?" Aria pulled her hand back. The feeling was so foreign. He almost felt like he had never experienced something so small, as a hand on his shoulder.

Aria pulled back a little. Trying to get a good look at the Sheppard, trying to understand him. Ray sat opposite them, watching the Sheppard with a curious look. The Sheppard leaned forward, putting his face back into his hands. He leaned forward as he did this. There was a metallic clicking sound, and something fell from the top of his coat, and caught around a thin chain around his neck.

Aria leaned in closer. "Hey..." She gently reached for the dangling necklace. The Sheppard pulled back a little to let her see the necklace.

"It's a Tag..." Aria said quietly. "WA-7-77." She frowned. It was just a few letters and numbers. No name was printed onto the tag. The Sheppard looked at it, and took it into his hand. WA-7-77... Why did that seem to raise his hackles... It was eerie... Like he was looking at something that was very, very wrong. He rubbed it in between his finger and thumb. It felt smooth on the top, and rough on the bottom... He turned it over. Aria and Ray looked closer as well.

Carved on the back, with what looked like was done with a rather sharp object. Were four letters.

"John." They all said at the same time. They looked to The Sheppard. He looked back.

"My name is John."
