For a friend
After joining up with star fox Fang had gained new friends, among them Krystal who helped him to become the hero that he once was. After the aparoids had been destroyed it was up to the team and any volunteers to take care of any surviving colonies in the galaxy.
"Ready GO!!"
Slippy was timing Fangs speed on the cornerian race track, lap after lap he got faster until at last he was able to make a sonic boom and in record time.
"Now that is speed!!"
"OH YEAH!!"
The group gave a high five while Krystal walked in with their lunch to join the celebration, while Fang headed off to the showers Krystal received a call from Sally saying she and the girls were gonna be out of town for the next few weeks leaving her some time with the team.
"Whew! that was refreshing!"
Fang shook his head of any excess water that was left as Fox handed him his drink for a toast, just as things got good base called about another infestation, this time in the abandoned part of the city where Fox killed general pepper and Fang vanquished Kalkara.
"Out of all the places why here?"
Fang said as he mounted his new battle bike made by him and slippy while the others took their arwings, as they ventured through the ruins Fang stumbled upon the sight where he had slain Kalkara as the image of him blasting his dragon cannon flashed through his mind.
"Fang. you okay?"
"Yeah....just taking a stroll down memory lane..."
"Well snap out of it we're near the target area."
"Roger. Fang out."
Fang reved up his bike and easily caught up with the others as he showed off his riding skills making Falco give a smirk.
"Stop! this is it. everyone gear up."
They arrived at an abandoned skyscraper with all its windows cracked and the wind making it give offan eerie howl, as usual all Fang packed was a few grenades and his trusty sword Fatalis while Krystal packed her staff as jumped from her arwing in her tribal outfit.
"Fang your with Krystal and Mitch. Slippy you stay here and monitor the building, Falco your with me."
"Try not to distract each other."
"HEY!"
"*giggle*"
Mitch couldn't help but throw in a good laugh as he and Krystal were the first to go in, once they gave the all clear the teams split up into several parts of the building. Fangs team handled the upper levels while Falco and Fox checked the underground parking.
"Slips what do ya got on the sonar?"
"There's definitely some lifeforms in their but at this point it's probably just rats and bugs *licks lips*"
"You already had lunch slippy, go on a diet."
"Aww Fang that's hurtful!"
Just as Fang laughed something zipped past him as he got into fighting position along with Mitch and Krystal.
"Mitch?"
"I saw it to. i'll check it out."
"Be careful."
As Mitch slowly pulled out his guns Fang moved right behind him and in one quick flash all they found was a frightened rat running away.
"*sighs* false alarm...just a rat."
"What'd I tell you *sips* MMMPPFFFFFT!!! guys you got company!! coming in from all sides!!"
Suddenly screeching and the sound of scurrying legs filled the whole upper levels while Falco and Fox rushed up the stairs for backup.
"A light switch!....why do I get the feeling I shouldnt've done that?"
As Krystal tapped Mitch on his shoulder he turned around to see a small swarm of aparoids filling the room drooling and snarling at their new prey.
"You guys go! I got this!"
"Whatever you say Fang!!"
As Mitch and Krystal rushed down the stairs Fang turned to the insects with a fierce look in his eyes.
"I'm giving you bug brains ten seconds before I fry every one of your sorry carcasses!! One...TEN!!!"
Using his power of fire Fang incinerated the entire floor as he bolted down the stairs after leaving a few "presents".
"Guys! Wait whe're you going?"
"I suggest you run in the other direction NOW!!"
A loud boom echoed above the stairs as Falco and Fox ran for their lives outrunning the wall of flame coming at them, the whole building came down crushing any remaining aparoids and their eggs. But things were far from done as a giant queen emerged from the rubble looking enraged.
"Get to the arwings!!!"
"I'll hold her off (types in codes) activate combat mode!"
*computer*
"Combat Mode engaged."
Fangs bike suddenly transformed as two wings formed on the back while six lances appeared on the sides as a dome formed over his head.
"Man I gotta get one of those!"
Mitch said sounding jealous as the queen focused her attention on Fang.
"I am the mother of the larvae you destroyed!!!!"
"And i'm the night manager of the 'Hotel de Roach' lookey there! it's checkout time!!"
"RRRAAAGGHHH!!!"
"Fang...I think you made her mad."
"Good....LET'S ROCK AND RIDE!!! YEEEEE-HAAAAAW!!!"
As the arwings took off Fang started off the assault as he charged in impaling a lance on one of the queens front legs then a second in the back.
"HA! do you think these little-AAAAAHH!!!"
The lances suddenly exploded making her fall to her knees leaving the others for a perfect arial assault as Fox landed accurate shots in her chest while the others aimed low.
"Dynamo-Lances never leave home without em!!"
"Fang! better switch the explosive heads on your lances! those barely left a crack in her carapace!!"
Slippy instructed as he flew over head checking the damage on the queen, with the explosive heads now switched Fang moved in for another charge and this time it worked.
"BOO-YAAA!!!"
"Don't celebrate yet! you vermin!!"
The queen suddenly opened her wing cases and spikes began flying everywhere, Fang lost control of his bike and was struck by one of the spikes wounding him greatly.
"NO!!"
"FANG HANG ON!!!"
Mitch used every weapon on his arwing to finish off the queen then with one last attack the team brought her down and quickly rushed over to Fang.
"FANG! hey c'mon buddy wake up!!"
All Mitch got back in return was a groan, Fang had lost a good amount of blood and the spike had poison inside it making him more weaker, Fox and Slippy quickly got him into a medical pod and raced back to the base for help.
"Geeze he's flat lining!!"
"Clear!!....come one kid fight it!!"
The screen went flat line again as they charged up for another shock, the second time worked as they sighed with relief but with no cure for the poison it was only a matter of time before it was too late. In the bases laboratory Peppy began to examine the poison but so far every treatment he tried failed then a message came up on his monitor as he shook his head in despair.
"Peppy we found a cure! the poison seems to have no affect on this flower but it can only be found on Sauria."
"That's good Fox! just get it and get back here in time!! Fang needs that antidote!"
While back on the great fox, Krystal was doing all she could to help the others as they made their way to Sauria while experimenting on the plant.
"Thanks for the plant Krystal."
"No need. I'm just lucky I brought it with me, this flower can also cure any known disease known on Sauria but with this aparoid poison."
"We don't know if it'll cure him or just delay the toxin from spreading."
"Falco!"
Slippy looked at him in an annoyed manner but they knew he was right, without more test subjects time was not on their side. Back at the base the poison slowly worked it's way through Fangs body as his veins began to turn purple while he shivered from the cold as the nurses brought in a few extra sheets.
"That's it!! let's go Fang doesn't have much time!!"
The team got as much flowers as they could and as they made their way back to corneria they spent hours on numerous tests with no results until one night Slippy finally found the cure they needed.
"Check this out. when I take the nectar from the flower and add it to this antitoxin...ta da!"
"Alright Slips!!"
"This is Peppy. how'd it go?"
"We have the cure Peppy! how's Fang?"
"Hmm....he's got about a few hours. you better get here fast!"
"Leave that to me!"
Mitch quickly grabbed the antidote and bolted for the hangar where he mounted Fangs bike and bursted out the door the minuet they landed, as soon as Mitch reached the front entrance of the hospital a nurse ran outside to meet him as he handed her the antidote and they raced to Fangs room.
"One minuet left!"
"(No way am I losing my best friend!!) Hang on Fang!! we're almost their!!"
As they finally approached the room the doctor came out holding a seringe and immediately injected the fluid into his body, things were quiet as they looked at his screen, as Fox and the others came in it went flat line, they were too late.
"No...."
"Fang... *sobs* *sniffle*"
"Time of death two-wait a minuet look!!"
Suddenly his heart monitor slowly made a slow and steady pace as his temperature returned to normal while the toxin in his veins faded.
"Hey guys...."
The team moved in for a group hug as Fang slowly rose up to catch his breath, he noticed Mitch with his bike helmet and smiled.
"How's the ride?"
"Smooth as silk man."
The team was happier than ever knowing they had just saved a friend but Fang was the happiest knowing that he had friends at all.
