Chapter 1: Football and Bullies

Brent was breathing heavy. He had never run so much in a game before. It seemed as if time had slowed down as he observed his settings as he always had done before a big play. He looked up at the score board as it read Fur High School: 21 Henry High School: 24. They were down by three. He glanced out into the crowd quickly and saw his father in his normal business suit. It was because of his father that he had gotten onto the football team. He looked ahead again and saw the large bull that was blocking his way. He would have to use his agility to get around the bull to be able to get the ball. He looked next to the bull to see a lion on the bull's right. As long as Brent went to his right, the lion shouldn't be able to get to him.

The play began. Brent looked up at the scoreboard quickly to see twenty seconds on the clock. He faked left and went right as the bull slammed into the lion. He saw his opening and took it. He dashed twenty yards and looked back in time to see the ball flying right towards him. He reached out and caught the ball and ran. The bull and lion had recovered and were right behind him, but being a slim cheetah gave him an advantage and he was able to run the 43 yards to make the winning touchdown. The crowd screamed in excitement.

Brent let out a surprised yelp as he found his entire team hugging him as he turned around. That was the fourth game in a row that he had won for his team. He looked into the crowd and saw his father with a huge smile. It hurt him to see his father so proud of him when he held a deep secret. He looked over at the cheerleaders and saw the person that he truly cared about.

***

Tina cheered loudly. She was ecstatic that Brent had won another game. Her parents owned a huge corporation and she had lived next to Brent all her life. They had met when they were five and that was when she had become obsessed with him. So, when Brent joined the football team, she joined cheerleading to be closer to him. His mother had died when he was 15 and she was there to support him. That was when they had their first kiss. But then something happened and Brent broke up with her.

Tina hoped that Brent would take her back, but she didn't want to show it. She continued on and became the head of the cheerleading squad. She was the first head cheerleader to accept a male into the squad.

"So, is the tiger going to get back with the cheetah?" Sam asked. He was the skunk on the cheerleading squad. Everyone knew that he was gay because he had admitted it from day one. He was really good friends with Tina and when Brent broke up with her, he had done his best to help her feel better.

Tina smiled at him. "I wish....but I think he's got eyes for someone else now," she said before sighing heavily.

"Then why is he looking over here?" Sam asked.

Tina looked and sure enough Brent was looking in her direction with the same eyes that he had when they were going out. She smiled and waved at him. But he didn't respond at all. It didn't matter though. Seeing those eyes again made her smile.

"Alright, let's get back to the locker room and clean up so that we'll be nice and fresh for the boys," Tina said.

All of the other cheerleaders giggled as she smiled at them and lead them into the locker room. Sam had to go into the men's locker room with the football players. That made her worry a little, but she knew he would be fine with Brent in there.

***

Brent quickly washed up and got changed. He and Sam were friends because of Tina. He knew that some of the football players were a little skeptical about him, but he reassured them that Sam wouldn't do anything. After a few games with him joking around with the football players, they were now comfortable with him in there. They even asked his advice as to what might help them pick up chicks. The entire team loved him now and Brent no longer had to worry. After showering, Brent waited for Sam so that the two of them and Tina could go out like they did after every win they had.

Sam came out a minute later with a huge smile on his face. "I'm so glad that you're my friend," Sam said. "They wouldn't have trusted me if you weren't."

Brent just smiled at him and led his friend out to the car where Tina was waiting. "Ready?" he asked her.

"Of course I am. That's why I've been standing here for the last five minutes," she told him.

He gave her a smile and got in the driver's seat. Tina opened the door to the passenger's seat. "How about Sam sits up front? He hasn't had the chance yet," Brent said.

Tina looked at him for a second before smiling. "Okay....I guess you're right," she said. Sam looked at Brent in surprise, but didn't argue.

The car ride home went on as it normally did. Finally, Brent pulled up to Sam's house. "Stay safe, Sam," Brent called out.

"And don't flirt with your brother again," Tina teased.

Sam just stuck his tongue out at them and went into his house.

Tina then climbed into the front seat of the Porche.

"There's something I need to talk to you about," Brent said as he began to drive again. He was a little nervous about talking about it, but she was the one he had to talk to.

Tina obviously was eager to listen. "Yeah, what is it?" she asked.

***

"Well....It's more of something I have to admit...You know that when we broke up I said that it was hard for me to do, but I no longer loved you, right?"

Tina was listening carefully. "He's going to say that he loves me again, isn't he?" Tina thought to herself. "Yeah," she said to him.

"Well....I've fallen in love with someone...but he's a friend of ours..." Brent said.

"Wait...he?" Tina asked. She was completely confused. She wasn't a he. But the only other close friend they had was.... "Sam?" she asked him.

A light blush went across his face before he nodded.

Tina looked down. Now she knew why he looked over at her after the game. Sam was standing right next to her. "He thinks that you've fallen in love with me again. But does this mean that you're gay?" she asked him.

"No, I'm bi. I really did love you...but after Sam came along, that love faded away and I fell in love with him. But please....don't tell him," Brent said.

Tina just smiled at him. "I still love you, but I can see that he's the only one that can make you happy right now," she said to him. "I won't tell him...for now..."

Brent smiled. "Thank you," he said to her.

She was a little hurt, but she knew that she would find someone else.

Friday night's victory was still all of the talk on Monday morning when classes started again. Sam took his seat next to some of the other cheer leaders in his English class. He then noticed Derek from across the room. Derek saw him and gave him a dirty look. Sam shuddered and turned away. Did Derek have something against him? Sam shook off the thought as class began.

The old, decrepit teacher, Mr. Garle, talked most of the class period about what he had to go through when he was their age. That's usually how the class would go and no one would complain. He did spend about 10 minutes every day on notes. Finally, the bell rang and Sam sighed.

As Sam was putting all of his stuff in his bag, he dropped everything. He said good bye to the other cheerleaders as they left and he picked up his stuff. As he stood up, he looked around the class room. Mr. Garle had fallen asleep in his chair behind the desk and the posters on the wall seemed kinda eerie now that he got a good look at them.

The desks were kinda a mess and he decided to straighten them up a little bit. He might as well since he was a teacher's aide the following period. He would explain that he was helping another teacher to Mrs. Bettle, a goose who taught Algebra who was the teacher he was an aide for.

He made sure that the desks were lined up in even rows, starting on one side of the room and working to the other. It took him most of the class to straighten out the desks and pick up the books and throw away the trash.

Finally, he got to the last desk and saw that something was written on it. He then gasped as he saw what was written. "Gays should go to hel." Sam began to shudder. He knew whose seat this was. It was Derek's seat. Now he knew why Derek had given him that horrible look. Sam grabbed his things and ran out of the classroom, only to be face to face with a shirt that read "I EET NERDZ!!!"

"D-Derek....what are you doing here?" Sam asked.

"I'm about to beat the snot out of the fag who's been eyeing me," Derek replied.

"Well, I don't see anyone eyeing you, Derek," Sam said nervously. He looked around. There was no one around. The clock tower showed that class would be out in ten minutes. If only he could get away and evade Derek for that long, he would be fine. But he knew he wouldn't be that lucky. Derek took one furry paw and lifted Derek off of the ground by his shirt. Sam struggled to get to get free, but it was no use. He gasped as Derek slammed him into the lockers.

Sam flinched as Derek threw a punch in his face. He felt some of his fur being torn off and he realized that Derek was using brass knuckles. Sam screamed out in pain as Derek hit him again, this time in the side of the head. Sam immediately felt dizzy after that blow and hoped that it was over. Sam gasped as Derek threw another punch into his gut. "SAM!!!" he heard someone cry out. But he couldn't tell who it was. Suddenly, he felt himself fall to the ground and he saw Brent standing above him. Suddenly, everything slowed down as he blacked out.

***

Every where he went, people were patting him on the back for getting the winning touchdown again. He was five minutes late to his first class, math. Luckily, it was his best subject and the teacher excused him. Especially since he was had been five minutes late the previous three Mondays. Mrs. Bettle sighed.

"Sit down," she said as he entered the classroom. He took a seat next to Tina who just smiled at him. Mrs. Bettle went to the chalk board and wrote the words "Pop quiz!" Most of the class groaned as they saw this. Brent just smiled. She handed out a piece of paper with five questions on it. It didn't take him long to finish the quiz and he relaxed. He hated looking at all of the posters around the room because they made him feel like an idiot. For the rest of the class, they took notes while Mrs. Bettle discussed Trigonometry. Soon the bell rang and everyone got up.

"So, are you going to talk to him?" Tina asked.

"Yes....but not yet," Brent replied.

"Why won't you? If you don't tell him today, I'm going to tell him tonight," she told him.

"Please don't. I'm not ready," he said to her.

"I will. I'm not going to let you waste a year trying to build up the courage to talk to him," she said.

Everyone else had left and the teacher was in her own little world. "Fine, I'll do it at lunch," Brent said.

Tina smiled and kissed him on the cheek as she went off to her own class.

Brent sighed as he went to his next class, biology. They were having a test in there. Luckily, he was good at Science and was able to finish the test ten minutes before class got out. The teacher smiled at him and gave him the last ten minutes for "a bathroom break". Nobody argued because of the winning touchdowns in the last four games. He sighed as he walked down the hall. That was when he noticed Derek, the school's bully, beating up someone. It wasn't till a moment later that it was Sam. And he was extremely bloody. "SAM!" he called out.

He ran up and tackled Derek, who immediately dropped Sam. Derek punched Brent with the brass knuckles in the side of his face and sent him flying back. He quickly stood up and saw Sam laying on the ground right next to him. He saw same look up at him before passing out. "Don't worry, Sam. I'll protect you," he said softly. Derek came charging at him and he took a deep breath like he did before a big play. The wall was to Derek's right, but there was nothing to Brent's right. It was just like Friday's game. He faked a right and Derek followed, just like he had planned. He then went left. What he didn't expect was that Derek would use the walk to lunge at him.

Brent dodged just in time as Derek slammed into the pole behind him. "You're gonna pay for that. Why are you defending this fag anyways? Is it because you're gay too?" Derek said in a harsh tone. "If you knew jack shit about anything, then you would know that he's my friend. And if you weren't stupider than a peanut, than you would know that I would have defended him even if he wasn't my friend because I'm a good person," Brent said before noticing that they had circled each other back to the same positions that they had been in before.

"The question is, is he stupid enough to fall for the same trick twice?" Brent looked and noticed something else. Derek charged at Brent. This time Brent faked right and went left. Derek used the banged up poll to push off towards Brent. Brent barely dodged again as Derek went head first into a locker, knocking himself out. Suddenly, the bell rang and students started to file out of the class room. Brent rushed back over to Sam.

"Sam? Sam?" he called out. His breathing was shallow.

The dean came up to him. "What happened here?" he asked Brent.

"I'll tell you later, but my friend needs to get to the clinic," Brent told the dean. He picked up the beat up skunk and the crowd parted for him.

Tina came over and asked what happened, but Brent didn't stop. She could tell that he was really upset.

He was just glad that there was no one else in his way as a tear dripped from his eye. He hadn't had the chance to tell Sam how he felt and now he may lose him. He was willing to do everything he could to save his friend's life. And at that point, anyone could see that.

Chapter 2: Clinics and Deans

Brent was panting as he brought Sam into the clinic. Tina was right behind him. Their friend, Sam, was limp in Brent's arms.

"What happened?" the nurse asked.

"He was beat up by Derek, who was using brass knuckles," Brent explained as he laid him down in the bed.

"You don't look too good yourself," Nurse Roberts said. She was a badger with all black fur. She was referring to the cut on his face that he had received when Derek had punched him. It was an inch long cut that went down the side of his face.

"I'll be fine. Just make sure Sam survives," Brent said to her.

Nurse Roberts sighed and nodded as she shooed him and Tina out of the office. "I need to clean him up and take a look at his wounds. But you better report what happened to the dean," she told him.

Brent nodded. "You get to class. There's no reason why you should miss class because of me," he said to her.

Tina smiled. "Just be careful, please," She said before kissing his right cheek, the uninjured cheek.

Brent nodded and went off to the dean's office. He knocked on the door and gave a deep sigh.

"Come in," a voice sounded from behind the door. Brent recognized the voice as Dean Roberts's voice.

Slowly, Brent opened the door and peered in. He looked around the room. There were no posters on the walls like there were in the classrooms. Instead there were documents stating the dean's degrees and pictures of the dean and his family. Brent looked towards the desk to see the gazelle sitting behind it. Behind him, there was a bookshelf with a globe on top. Brent quickly glanced through the books and only recognized one title: The Everyday Life of a Badger.

He looked over at the two chairs in front of the desk. One was empty. The other was filled with a bear with a sac of ice on his head. He noticed the brass knuckles that Derek had used on the desk in front of Dean Roberts. Brent took a step forward and closed the door.

"Sit down," the gazelle said.

Brent nodded and stepped forward again. As he took his seat he noticed his discipline record and Derek's Discipline record on the desk. Brent had done well over the past twelve years to keep his record clean. He just hoped that he wouldn't spoil it now.

"Now that I've got you both here, we can start. So, what happened? I'll start with you Brent, since you've got a clean record and have only been here on one other instance," Dean Roberts said.

"Well, I was in Biology and we had taken a test and my teacher had let me take a ten minute bathroom break before class was over. So, I was walking towards my next class when I saw Derek beating someone up with his brass knuckles. That's when I realized that it was my friend, Sam. I had tackled him to the ground to get him away from Sam before he killed him. And then he punched me to get me off of him. He then admitted to beating Sam up because he's gay. After that he verbally harassed me a bit before he charged at me. A dodged his attack and he ended up running into the poll. He then circled around and he charged at me again. A dodged again and he rammed head first into the locker," Brent said. He sighed as he finished his story.

"So, you didn't hit him once?" Dean Roberts asked.

"He was too much of a pussy to hit me," Derek said before Brent had a chance to reply.

"I will not tolerate that type of language in this office. This isn't the first time you've been in this office because you beat someone up. But this time there's a concealed weapon involved," the gazelle said. There was another knock on the door and the dean told the person to come in.

Two policemen stepped in. "Put your hands behind your back," one of them said. Derek tried to push them out of the way and get out of the office, but the other officer zapped him with a taser and he fell to the ground. The first policeman put the bear's paws behind his back and handcuffed him. Derek was nineteen, which meant he was old enough to be arrested. They gave him his warning and dragged him out of the office.

Brent just sat there in disbelief as he watched. As soon as they were gone, he turned back to Dean Roberts. "Am I going to have a mark on my record?" Brent asked.

"Unfortunately, you did tackle him. That counts as violence but I'll put down as you received a fair warning. There's no need for punishment. It's your senior year and you were just doing what was right. Now, class is almost over, so I'm going to let you take this period and the next period to make sure that Sam is alright," Dean Roberts said.

"Thank you," Brent said as he left the office. He quickly rushed down the hall to the clinic. "Is he alright?"

"He's not doing too well. He's going to have to go to the hospital," Nurse Roberts said. "They'll be able to treat him properly there."

Brent was horrified. He went and sat down by his friend and reminisced about the first time they had met. Brent and Tina were still dating. Tina was in the cheerleading squad with Sam. Sam had just moved to the area and it was his first cheerleading practice.

***

Tina gasped as her kiss with Brent broke. It was magical. Her boyfriend was the new starting running back and she decided to give him a congratulations kiss. Her paws were on his slender sides while his were on hers. His tail had wrapped around her body. To most, he was just a normal cheetah, but to her, he was special. She loved how there were a set of spots on his back that formed into a smiley face. And his white chest fur really turned her on. She also thought it was unique for him to have one of his front paws white while the rest were black. She took in every little detail about him.

She knew that Brent had done the same with her. He told her over and over again how he loved the stripe on her arm that had a spot missing in the shape of a heart. Her grey fur blended well with her black stripes. Her mother was a snow leopard, so she inherited her mother's grey fur, but she still considered herself a tiger due to the fact that she had stripes like her father.

She smiled at him as she rejoined the cheerleaders while he ran backwards towards the other football players. The other girls in the squad all giggled as she joined them. All of a sudden she turned back around to see Brent on his back laying over a skunk dressed in a cheerleading outfit. It was Sam, the new cheerleader. "SAM!" she cried out as she and the other cheerleaders ran over to help him. Both he and Brent were getting up as they arrived.

***

Brent smiled as he watched Tina going back to the other cheerleaders. He was running backwards to watch her as long as possible. He continued to watch her even when she had turned around to talk to the other cheerleaders. This was a mistake seeing as he ran backwards into the new cheerleader who had been watching a play the football players were doing. The two fell over and as Brent landed on Sam, Sam screamed out.

"SAM!" Brent heard Tina cry out as she and the other cheerleaders were running over.

Brent stood up and took the handsome skunk's hand to help him up. It was then that he noticed how wonderful the skunk really looked. He shook off the thought as the cheerleaders approached. "Are you alright?" he asked Sam.

"I twisted my ankle," Sam said.

"Come on. I'm sure the dean has some sort of accident report that we have to fill out," Brent said. He put Sam's arm around his neck and helped him off the field and onto the bench. "Wait here while I tell the coach what happened," he said. Sam nodded in response and sighed.

Brent went and told the coach, a lion by the name of Coach David, what had happened and then he went back to Sam. As he helped Sam back up, he noticed how soft Sam's fur was. He blushed lightly but it quickly went away as he thought about Tina.

Brent helped Sam into the dean's office and he explained what happened and that it was his fault. Sam said that he wasn't paying attention as well, so they were really both at fault. The dean sighed and had them fill out the accident report.

Afterwards, Brent helped Sam to the nurse's office where they got some ice for his ankle. The nurse said that he had to sit still for a while, so Brent stayed with him to keep him company. The two began to talk and after a while, the nurse let the skunk go.

Brent helped Sam back to the field as the cheerleaders and football players finished the practice and were coming out of the locker rooms. "How about I drive you home?" Brent offered.

"Thanks, I really appreciate it," Sam said.

Brent and Tina helped Sam into the back seat of Brent's car, and Brent drove on following the skunk's directions. "Rest your foot up," Brent called out. Sam just replied with a smile and a nod.

Brent drove on bringing Tina to her house. They then did the customary goodbye, which consisted of a kiss and some slight nuzzling. But as Brent kissed her, it didn't feel right. Not like it had before practice.

After she left, he sat there for a minute and tried to figure out what had changed. All that had happened was he spent the afternoon with Sam. But he did have a good time with Sam. Brent sighed as he parked the car in his driveway and went up to his room. He kept thinking about why the kiss didn't feel right, and his thoughts kept drifting back to Sam. It was then that he realized that he was no longer in love with Tina, but now had a crush on the other cheerleader.

***

Brent couldn't believe it. Tina was right. He had wasted a lot of time not telling Sam how he felt. And now, Sam was going to the hospital because of some ass hole. The paramedics came in and Brent lifted Sam up and put him onto the stretcher.

"Sorry, sir, but you can't come with us," one of the paramedics said.

"But...he's....he's my boyfriend," Brent admitted.

The paramedics looked at him and then looked at each other. He was a local hero. For him to admit something like that, it would have to be true otherwise he would be hunted down later on. "I didn't know you were gay," the second paramedic said.

"I'm not. I'm bi, but I really care about Sam. Please, you have to let me go with you," Brent said.

"Alright, but only you," the paramedic said.

Brent smiled as he went with them. One of the other football players came up to them and asked what was happening. "Sam got beat up. So, I'm going with him to the hospital," Brent told him.

"I'm going, too," Todd, the lion, said.

"Sorry, but only Sam's boyfriend is allowed to come," the paramedic said.

Brent blushed and hopped into the ambulance before Todd could say anything.

***

Sam slowly stirred. It was hard for him to breath. He looked around and could tell that he was in an ambulance. He looked up and saw Brent holding his paw and he blushed slightly. "Brent...why are you here?" he asked. Why would they let Brent come?

"I have something important I need to tell you," Brent said.

Sam felt Brent grip his paw slightly tighter. "What is it?" he asked.

He watched Brent close his eyes and take in a deep breath. "Sam, I like you," Brent said.

Sam saw Brent's face turn red. Sam remembered looking up at Brent before blacking out and seeing how heroic he looked. He smiled at Brent. "I like you, too, Brent. You're my hero," he said. He then saw Brent lean down towards him and he did his best to lean up to him.

Chapter 3: Rumors and Dates

Brent smiled as he went with them. One of the other football players came up to them and asked what was happening. "Sam got beat up. So, I'm going with him to the hospital," Brent told him.

"I'm going, too," Todd, the lion, said.

"Sorry, but only Sam's boyfriend is allowed to come," the paramedic said.

Brent blushed and hopped into the ambulance before Todd could say anything.

***

Todd stood there, not knowing what to say. He knew that Brent had been madly in love with Tina, the head cheerleader, a few years ago. Was that a fake relationship? Todd knew that he had to talk to Tina. But he always had trouble talking to her, due to his crush on her. He turned around and gasped as he saw her running up to him.

"Was that Sam?" she asked, referring to the ambulance just pulling away.

"Y-Yes, it was. D-Did you know about Sam and Brent?" Todd asked nervously. He was already pretty shy due to the fact that his family had a history of male lions growing up without manes. But now he was also talking to the girl that he liked as well.

"What did you hear?" she asked him in a defining tone that practically screamed worry.

"Well, the paramedic told me that only Sam's boyfriend was allowed to go with them and Brent was the only one going with them," Todd told her.

Tina sighed. "He told them that because he fell in love with Sam while we were going out. I'm sure he'll ask Sam out as soon as he wakes up. I guess I'm going to have to find someone else," she said to him.

Todd blushed lightly. "Well...um...maybe...we could give it a shot," he said nervously.

***

Tina looked at him. ‘Did he just ask me out? Well, he is kinda cute,' she thought to herself. She smiled at him. "I'd love to," She said to him. She leaned up to him and gave him a kiss on a cheek which she knew would make him blush some. "Just make sure to pick me up tonight at eight."

Tina giggled as she turned around. All of the other cheerleaders were standing right there and her face turned a bright red.

Sarah, Brent's sister came up to her. "Is it true that Sam and Brent are going out?" she asked. Sarah looked almost exactly like her brother except that she was a few inches shorter and female.

"It's not my place to answer that question," Tina said before walking off. ‘I hope that rumors don't get spread around about this. This could ruin Brent's senior year,' she thought to herself. She quickly went off to her next class, which was right before lunch.

After spending fifty minutes in a boring geometry class, Tina sighed and went to lunch. As she entered the lunch area, everyone started to look at her. "What?" she asked them.

A young freshman, a black and orange cat, came up to her. "Is it true about Brent and Sam? That they are really together?" he asked her.

"I'm not at liberty to discuss something like that," Tina said.

Another freshman came up to her. This one was a husky. "But we wanna know," she asked.

Murmurs of agreement came from everyone else around. Tina sighed and knew that she would be bothered by everyone the next few days if she didn't answer. "Brent is going to ask him today. And don't get the wrong idea. Brent is bi, not gay," she told them.

For a moment there was silence and then she feared that they would start to slander Brent's name. But then she heard something that she hadn't expected.

"Those two will make a cute couple," she heard Sarah say. The other cheerleaders around her agreed and everyone went back to their own business.

Tina went up to Sarah. "Thanks, Sarah. I didn't want anyone to say anything bad about them," she said before giving her best friend's sister a hug.

"He's my bro. I have to protect his name when he's not here to do it himself," Sarah said.

Tina released Sarah from the hug and went and got her food. The rest of the day was pretty enjoyable. And she found one of the other cheerleaders to give her and Sarah a ride home. Heather, another cheetah on the squad, let them both out at Tina's house.

"Well, I know that your parents work late and it'll be lonely without Brent there for you to bother, so why don't you come in?" Tina offered.

"Thanks, but I have to get ready for my date tonight," Sarah said. She giggled lightly before running off towards her home. Tina watched her and couldn't help but notice how much she looked like her brother.

Tina went inside and decided that she should get ready for her date as well. She picked out a sexy dress that would be perfect for going to the movies. ‘CRAP! I forgot to tell him what we were doing and where I live,' she thought to herself. She picked up her cell phone and dialed his number.

"Hello?" she heard him ask into the phone.

"Hey, Todd, about tonight, we're going to see a movie. I was going to take my brother, but he told me that he had a date tonight as well, so I have an extra ticket to see Fur Flying Everywhere, that new horror film," Tina said.

"That sounds great. And you live next door to Brent, right?" Todd asked her. She noticed that he sounded much more relaxed talking to her on the phone.

"Of course," she said to him. "See you tonight."

"Bye," he said to her before hanging up the phone.

She then remembered what she had told Todd about her brother having a date. She sighed. "It seems everyone has a date tonight," Tina said to herself before giggling.

***

Todd walked up to the door and rang the bell. His tail twitched nervously. He was wearing a nice shirt and pants that blended well with his fur. When the door opened, he found a male tiger that looked almost exactly like Sarah. "Good Evening, Zack. Is Tina around?" he asked.

"She'll be down in a minute," Tina's twin brother said. "Come on in while you're waiting. Our parents won't be home till around midnight."

"Thank you," Todd said. He stepped inside and noticed how large the house really was. He sat down in the living room and waited for her to come down. There was another ring of the door bell and Zack went to answer it. He saw Brent's sister at the door and he watched as Sarah and Zack gave each other a quick kiss.

"Hey, I'm going on my date now," Zack yelled up the stairs. He then turned to Todd. "Don't tell my sister that I'm dating Sarah. I don't want her to know yet."

Zack sighed and nodded. He watched as the couple went out and he sat back in the chair and waited for Tina. A few minutes later, she came down wearing a sexy black, strapless dress that went down to her mid thighs. Zack blushed as he looked up at her. "You look beautiful," he said without thinking. He blushed slightly more after he had said it.

***

Tina looked at him and giggled. ‘He's so sweet. And he's obviously nervous,' she thought to herself. "Thank you. You look good too," she told him. "Are you ready to go?"

He nodded at her and she walked down the rest of the stairs, where he was holding the door open for her. The two of them walked out and she locked the door behind them. Todd then held the passenger door open for her as well and she smiled while giving him a thank you.

She sat in the car and tried to think of something to say to him all the way there, but couldn't think of anything. Once they got there, they went right into the movie, only stopping to get some candy, popcorn, and one drink. They found good seats and they waited only a short while for the movie to start.

The movie started off with a scary scene and it made Tina spill some of the popcorn. "Sorry," she said to him. He just smiled at her. A few minutes later, she noticed that he was attempting to hold her hand. Tina helped him out by reaching over and grabbing his hand. Just as she did, another scary scene came up and she jumped into him.

She looked up at him and noticed that he was blushing. She smiled and leaned up and kissed him on the cheek. She lifted the arm rest up between the chairs they were sitting in and snuggled up to him.

Todd blushed as he felt her snuggle up to him. He nervously put his arm around her as he watched the movie. As he did, she moved closer to him. The longer they were that close to each other, the more comfortable he felt with her. Every time there was a scary part, she would jump and he would hold her tight till it was over.

Soon enough the credits were rolling and neither of them moved except to look at each other. He widened his eyes in surprise when he found her kissing him on the lips, but he returned the kiss. Soon he closed his eyes and leaned slightly into the kiss.

After a few minutes, he heard moaning behind them and broke the kiss to see who was ruining their moment. He gasped as he looked to see Zack starting to pull up Sarah's shirt.

"Sarah? Zack, what are you doing?" Tina asked as she looked back as well. The two jumped up in surprise and Zack quickly moved away from Sarah.

"Uh...um..." Zack started.

"How long have you two been seeing each other?" Tina asked.

"Since my mother died. Zack is really sweet," Sarah said before blushing lightly.

"Does Brent know?" Todd asked.

Sarah blushed and shook her head. "Please don't tell him."

"He has a right to know," Tina said. She then turned to Zack. "You should have told me about Sarah."

"It's not like you would have approved," Zack said.

Tina was taken back by Zack's comment. "Why wouldn't I? She's gorgeous. I don't think there's a better girl at school for you to be with."

Sarah and Zack both blushed at Tina's comment.

"I won't tell Brent, but one of you had better do it," Tina said.

"I will," Sarah said. "I'll tell him when he gets home from the hospital."

Tina smiled. "Well, let's get home," she said to Todd. She leaned into him and dragged him away from her brother and Sarah. "Let's let them have some time to themselves," she whispered to him.

"Okay, but I want some time with just you and me," he said to her.

"Fine, but don't try anything," she said to him with a bit of amusement in her voice. She giggled when she saw him blush. Once they were back in the car, they resumed their kiss that had been interrupted.

"I had a great time tonight," Sarah said as she walked in the door.

"SARAH!" she heard her older brother yell. "Where have you been? I came home and I had no idea where you were. You didn't even tell me that you were going out."

"Sorry," she said looking down at the ground.

"I'd better go," Zack said. He closed the door behind him as he left.

"I was going to tell you, but I thought you'd be mad," Sarah said to him.

She heard a sigh come from Brent. "I'm just mad that you didn't at least tell me you were on a date. Just make sure to keep him in line, okay?" he said to her.

She smiled and looked up at him. When she saw him return the smile, he jumped up and gave him a hug. "Thank you so much," She said to him before running upstairs.

Brent sighed as he watched her go upstairs. Their father was away on a business trip and wouldn't be back for a few more days. That's when he would tell his father. He didn't want to, but it needed to be done. Sam was recovering well and would be able to go home Wednesday. They spent all afternoon talking to each other after Sam's surgery. They had to give him stitches.

At the end of the day, Brent gave Sam a long deep kiss and went home to find that Sarah was gone. He freaked out and was about to call the police when he heard the car pull up. It was then that he realized how much he really cared about his family.

He then heard steps coming down they stairway and looked up to see Sarah, already in her pajamas.

"Um...Brent...Is it true that you're going out with Sam?" she asked him.

Brent sighed. "Yeah...I asked him out today and he said yes. It's been a long day. I'm going to bed," he said to her as he went up the stairs and into bed. All he could think about was the kiss with Sam. That night he slept better than he had in a long time.
