Episode 1: The Last Time

Chapter 0, Page 0

"Alright, Chris. Time to pay up." Tom, a slim brown raccoon said, holding out his paw.

"Wait please!" Chris, a chubby red dragon begged, continuing to play his game, "I've almost collected enough crystals to join the championship!" he grunted, his head actually sweating a little bit. He was currently participating in a semi-championship for his favorite game, Gems of the Labyrinth. The objective of the game is to play competitive in a dungeon against other online players and to collect gems and bring them back to base. What was originally an indie-game but became published because of high demand and fame, a yearly championship was spawned, and Chris was just about to become an official player in it. The winner earns $500,000 and special access to game updates and beta testing of new stuff and a special copy of the upcoming sequel.

Chris was doing pretty good too, he was fast and aggressive, as the game follows offense and defense, protecting the base so it isn't destroyed and all gems are lost or none are stolen by Thieve class players, or attacked by Archer or Knight class players who followed the path of Protection, etc. he was a Runner, transporting goods from one place to another.

Just as he was about to get his chance at winning the semi-championship, Tom stood in the way of the television.

Chris panicked, "TOM, NO!!!" and he moved aside and tried to see what he was doing, but was killed by a Level 57 Knight who decapitated him and sent him back to the lobby as he'd run out of lives. Chris threw the controller aside and screamed into a pillow, looking up at him, "Why the hell did you do that?!"

Tom rolled his eyes, "Dude, I highly doubt you would have won in the first place!"

"I was in first place!" he stood up, "I could have just won the semi-championship and moved on to the real championship and won us five-hundred thousand dollars!!"

Tom laughed, "Right! Because you could totally do that!"

Suddenly, a cannon fire came out from the television, and he looked at the television. The screen popped up a message saying "Results..." and he watched as he knew he still had a chance.

Tom shut off the television screen.

Chris screamed, shoving Tom away and turning it back on, seeing the result...

1st place: Moving onto Championship Phase 1.

"YES!!! YES!!!" he cheered, jumping up and down, "I got first! I'm moving on!!!"

Tom stared up at Chris, offended, "You just shoved me!"

Chris stopped and stared dead at him, "Because you keep being an asshole when you know I could win us five-hundred thousand dollars! Isn't that what you want? Do you want me to lose? Do you not want five-hundred thousand dollars, Tom?!"

Tom shrugged, "Of course I do. It's just that you aren't the person who's gonna get that money."

Chris growled, "I JUST WON FIRST PLACE."

"In a semi-championship!" Tom shoved him back, "You are not going to win the next round!"

Chris, pulled out his wallet and threw out a ten dollar bill, "That's all I got."

Tom caught the money, "That's enough, remember? To pay your rent. But, that's it? You are out of money?"

Chris sighed, calming down, "Yes. I am."

"Well, you better find a way to get some money." he chuckled, "Because if you don't, I'm kicking you out."

Chris, growled, shutting off the game system as his progress had been submitted, he put on his jacket and opened the front door, "Fine, asshole." he slammed the door, storming downstairs and leaving the apartment complex.

Tom shook his head, "What a loser." he said, walking back into his bedroom.
