So I already wrote this book [and a couple after it]. It had two before, but the writing on those was so unbearably horrendous... Yeah, no one's gonna see those. Ever. I jumped to a new set of characters between one and two, and this book continues with the second set of characters. I basically summed up what goes on in two at the beginning, and after that, you're pretty much caught up.

I'm open to criticism, and yes, my writing does get better.

My name is Tanner Icer, and my life couldn't get better. Okay, it definitely could, but it's been going pretty great. Certainly better than after my parents died. About seven years ago, there was an insanely huge car wreck on one of the main streets in our town. Nearly a hundred people died, and over five hundred were put in the hospital! It backed up insurance agencies for a few years, and the whole town went through a three month grieving period.

Since my parents were... dead, I had to go stay with my gay brother, which I didn't know at the time. For a while it wasn't bad, but now and then... he'd just vanish. Later, one of his friends would bring him in, and he'd be tired, lazy, his fur would be all ratty, and he'd be... naked. It was a while before I found out what his job was, which was the turning point in our relationship.

I found out he was gay, and worse, a gay prostitute. Sort of... Basically he worked at a strip club, and it wasn't uncommon for horrendous things to happen to him. All his friends told him he should quit the job, but he refused. After a while, we all found out it was because he was too damn broke to even consider working anywhere else, not to mention he said he needed the money to help take care of me.

Now, I feel incredibly guilty for how much of a jerk I was about him being gay, and choosing to work at Vertebrae, but if I didn't act like a jerk I would've basically broken down into tears every time I saw him. I was only thirteen at the time, and losing the last family member you have isn't something you can live with after your parents died five years ago.

Luckily, Kyle finally called the insurance agency and their solution was simple. Stop paying for our dead parent's insurance! Again, the agencies got backed up, and a good chunk of the money was refunded to us. We lucked out with a cool hundred grand, and life turned around for us. I actually fessed up to him about having emotions beyond hatred, and our relationship improved.

Later the same day he finally quit that job, and I don't know how or why, but it must've pissed off some guys because I have a very terrified memory of running for our lives. Of what I do remember, it wasn't us who beat the crap out of them, but it was some of our neighbors. They didn't use fists or weapons, though. They used light. I didn't understand, and I don't care enough to find out, but those people are hiding something.

After that Kyle pulled a lawsuit on Vertebrae, and we made enough money just from that to buy a bigger house on the edge of town. It's been a little over two years since that day, and it's towards the end of summer. I met a girl last year, and we've been getting along pretty great. The only problem is that I really like her, but I don't think she likes me the same way...

The passenger side door opened and Kiari got in, "Hey!"

"Sup?"

"Not much. So, you been reading that book I told you to?"

"Well, I read about half way through the first chapter, but I stopped when I realized it was a fuckin' porno!"

"But it's got such a good plotline-"

"It's still a porno!"

"So? The plotline is good! The main character is raped by-"

"I do NOT want to know!"

"Can't stop me from telling you!"

"I can sure as hell try!" I reached over and covered her mouth with my hand, but pulled away as she licked it. "Eww! Gross..." I wiped my hand off on her shirt sleeve.

"Tsh, you had it coming! So, what're we gonna do at your place?"

"I don't know. I could kick your butt at FPS games."

"I doubt it."

"You'd be surprised."

"What do you think I do all day? Be productive?"

"More productive than me. There've been days this summer where I haven't even left my room other than to go to the bathroom."

"So what, you just sit there, jackin' off-"

"Ugh, no!"

"Wait, you have your games and stuff hooked up in your room?"

"Xbox, Play Station, TV, internet, everything."

"Even food?"

"Yeah, my bro brings food in."

"Oh, I didn't know you had a brother, how old is he?"

"Thirty two."

"He's only thirty two months old?!"

"No, in years."

"Oh... Then he must live really close if he brings food into your room."

"Uh, he lives with me."

"Oh..." I pulled into the driveway and parked the car.

As I opened the door Kyle spoke, "Hey, back already?"

"Kyle, she lives like four minutes away."

"Aw. So, what do you two want for dinner?"

I looked at Kiari, "Pizza?"

"Sure."

"Okay, then. You two run off and do whatever kids do nowadays..."

Me and Kiari were gone before he could finish the sentence. She started talking as I closed the door, "So, why do you call you're dad by his first name?"

"That wasn't my dad-"

"Oh, I didn't know you had a step-dad."

"No, that was my bro. Our parents are dead."

"Oh my god. I'm so sorry-"

"Hey, other people felt the same loss seven years ago. You know, the big car wreck."

"Oh. So, you're over it?"

"Yeah, for the most part. I mean, it sucks, but me and Kyle get along fine."

"Well, that's good."

"Yeah. It's just annoying sometimes with his gay jokes."

"He's gay?"

"Oh yeah. He's got like this box under his bed, full of 'toys'. It's so-"

"Oooh. Sounds sexy!"

My cheeks felt hot from blushing, "God, shut up! It's gross as hell! Think about it, he takes those rubber bricks, and shoves them up... there. It's disgusting!"

"Ooh, and he probably sucks on them too!"

"Ugh, shut up! I'm gonna be sick if you keep talking about it!"

"I bet some of them have vibrat-"

"Stop. I'm serious. It's disgusting. You don't have to live with it, you don't get it. It's just... gross."

"Okay, okay, I'm done." We just sat and played video games for a few hours, Kyle brought in pizza, we played video games for another hour or so, and then I took Kiari home.

* * *

When I came inside, Kyle stopped me before I got to my room, "You like her, don't you?"

"Well, she's a good friend-"

"You know what I mean."

I could feel myself starting to blush, "Well... Yeah, I guess. She doesn't like me that way though. Why?"

"I don't know, I was just thinking, it's obvious you like her, so why don't you make the move?"

"I just said, she doesn't like me that way-"

"But what if she does?"

"Well... I don't know, I just-... Why do you even care?" He just shrugged, "Well, until you can answer that question I'll be in my room." I headed into my room.
