Revenge of the hunted

In my work in newspapers this time of year I see far too many stories about hunting (mostly from places like Wisconsin and Tennessee), complete with photos of assholes posing with the corpse of the defenseless deer they've killed just to feel big about themselves, including far too many children who's parents teach them killing defenseless animals is acceptable. They make me sick and I felt I had to write something about them. So here we are...

The way I wrote this the humans are really ambiguous in gender, but I envisioned them as the stereotype male hunters.

The buck's nostrils flared sampling the air, searching for what didn't belong in his woods. His ears flicked, in the distance the unmistakable sharp crack of a hunter's rifle. Silently he hoped it had missed it's target, but with the lack of a second report he knew the truth. There would be time later to mourn the lose of the unfortunate soul that had been lost, but survival of himself and the rest of his heard took precedence right now.

There was once a time when the arrival of the cooling weather had heralded the greatest time of year, mating season. But that time had been long before his birth, and was only a distant racial memory. To him and to his father and his father and on the glory that should have been mating season was marred by fear and death. The arrival of mating season also brought the arrival of the two-legged primates and their terrifying things that killed from a great distance while they remained unseen. Despite the fear and chance of death nature dictated that mating season must still occur, and so they continued to brave the deep woods year after year.

Enough was enough. It was time to take back mating season. He had managed to guide the females and younger males to what he hoped would be a safe place in the deepest woods, and now it was time for the hunted to become the hunter.

Earlier in the day he had spotted the primate's hiding spot; now he lead two of the largest oldest bucks with him. He led a long winding route giving the primate's hiding place a wide berth and keeping it constantly up wind. Once he was satisfied they were well behind the primate's location they cautiously moved in.

There they were, a pair of them, on the ground, outside their protection high in the tree above them. They were hunched over something on the ground, unaware of the three buck's approach. He could smell death, and knew that it was his fallen brother he'd heard just a short time ago.

He led them in as close as he dared before they would be heard, then signaled the charge. As one the three bucks crashed from hiding aimed straight at the pair of primates. The noise instantly drew their attention. Looks of panicked shocked covered their faces. One reached for its discarded weapon lying a short distance away, but it was too slow.

In an instant he had reached the primate. He lowered his head bringing his antlers to bare on the small defenseless creature. A quick buck of his head sent it flying a short distance landing with a heavy thud.

The second primate hadn't reacted as quickly or aggressively. It still knelt beside their fallen brother, a sharp talon grasped in its hand. His two brothers circled it, eyeing it wirily, stamping their front hoofs aggressively. Fear filled its eyes as it slowly began to rise on its hind legs, it swiped its talon at one of his brothers. Reacting quickly the other buck butted it from behind, knocking it back to its knees, its talon sent flying.

Satisfied that his brothers could deal with that one; he walked to where the one he'd hit still lay sprawled out groaning. It heard his approach and lifted its head to look at him. Fear filled its eyes as he lowered his head challengingly. It tried to rise, getting as far as all fours before he was on it. He swiped his antlers at its backside, shredding the artificial hide they wore exposing its flesh. The force knocking it once again to the ground.

It groaned, rising to its four legs once again, this time more slowly and difficultly. His long thin penis extended from his sheath as he straddled over the injured primate. He would love to take more revenge on these primates, but there could be others nearby drawn to the noise, so time was of the essence.

The primate realized what was happening as he made several quick experimental jabs to find his alignment. It struggled beneath him trying to get away, but he held it firmly in place with his forelegs on its shoulders. Finding his aim he made one mighty thrust, his pointed tip easily breaching the tight hole embedding his long thin shaft deeply in the primate. It screamed out in surprise and pain below him, redoubling its efforts to get away. But he held on tightly and momentarily savored the tightness. He hadn't felt anything like this since he was a yearling in his first rut.

A second scream drew his attention. One of his brothers had claimed the other primate in the same manner as him. It too struggled for escape, but the other brother stood by menacingly, ready to attack if the need arose.

Taking no more time to wait he began to make long quick thrusts into the struggling primate. This was the glory of mating season, and he would show it to the primate who instead brought death year after year. It cried out in time to each thrust, each cry matched by it's partner being taken by his brother.

In no time he felt his balls contract as he fired his seed deep into the primate. It slumped forward as he released his hold, his long shaft popping as it slide free from its hole. It weakly attempted to crawl away from him, but he was not finished yet. He placed a single hoof onto its back holding it in place.

He looked over seeing his brother similarly finish with the other primate. As it too tried to crawl away the two brother changed places, the yet unsatisfied taking his place behind the hapless primate.

The primate tried to struggle under his hoof as he watched his brother make quick work of his turn on the primate. In no time he too filled it with his seed, and let it fall weakly to the ground beneath him.

With the two brother's work finished he nodded his head towards the primates' discarded weapons. They understood and acted, leaving behind the primate which merely lay still and wept. Each walked towards one, raised a hoof, and brought it down forcefully. The weapons crushed under their power, they would never pose a danger again.

He glared down at the primate still beneath his hoof, they eyes met, a moment of interspecies clarity passed between them. As he removed his hoof it slowly rolled over and sat up. It did not make an immediate move. The message had been given and received. This is a time of mating, not of death, I have shown this to you, and I have claimed you.

He torn his gaze away from the humbled primate to give a final silent mournful goodbye to their fallen brother. With an invisible signal the three bucks bounded back into the forest, leaving behind the two primates as quickly and suddenly as they had come.

Their were far more primates who threatened their lives, but he felt confident these two never would again. And, this one small act of revenge was enough to ease his aching heart. At least for today.
