#20 of An Anthro's Tale

14 year old Seth Allen is trying to keep his head down long enough to survive high school,he has an insane crush on a girl way out of his leauge and he loves cars and loves to work on them. He has his own company,Draconian Customs, their slogan is:"If you can dream it,we can build it." Seth and his friends have the lofty dream of seeing one of their cars on the 128 Miles of Road America. And it looks like that dream may come true when four men from Delton Motorsports commission them for a Pontiac GTO Hardtop for the 128 mile endurance race. Seth, however,is hiding a secret.

The second heat of the Camaro Vs Mustang crept up on us faster than I knew it. It was around ten PM when the cars pulled to the starting line. The race lights ticked down and the cars shot off, leaving burnt rubber and punished asphalt in their wake. Joe and Rossi started off strong, but Alex and our IROC closed the distance faster than you could blink. Joe, Ross and Alex went through the first turn in a blur of red and green, like the lights off a Christmas tree. They screamed down the straight, through the second turn and then down the long straight before beginning to brake for the third turn. As they were going down the second straight, a man in a suit walked up to my Dad and asked.

"Sir, may I speak with you?"

"Sure",Dad replied standing and following the man up to the press box. Inside, I could see a few other guys in suits, but couldn't make out what they were saying.

"What do you think is going on up there?",Tess asked sipping her Coke.

"No clue",I replied,"but did you see the guy in the suit?"

"Maybe it's like a business thing?",Josh asked.

"Maybe",Tristan replied.

I turned back to the race. Joe, Ross and Alex were coming up on the wide arc turn. Joe threw his Mustang into Rear Wheel Drive and pulled a wide drift through the corner, as did Ross and Alex. The cars were screaming over the yells of the audience as they rounded the last corner and hissed towards the finish line. Alex, Joe and Ross speed across the finish line. Alex and Joe were tied for first place with 1:21 dead while Ross was a mere five hundredths of a second behind at 1:21:500. The second lap had just started when Dad put his hand on my shoulder.

"Hey son?",he asked.

"Yeah Dad?",I answered.

"Come here, some men want to speak with you." I

rose and followed my father to the press box. The whole way he had a smile on hos face that I couldn't decode. When we arrived at the press box, we were greeted by two brown haired men in blue suits. They had pins on their selves that were made of gold and read. "Sunset Peninsula Raceway." My heart began to race.

"So your Seth?",one of the men asked.

"I am he",I answered.

"Well Seth",the man continued,"my associates and I have watched you race, and we've inspected your vehicles. We'd like to offer you and your friends invitations to to the highly exclusive Dream Match Invitationals."

My heart stopped, like, literally. The Dream Match Invitational's were Great Eight only races featuring the world's finest raceways and only the best drivers. We'd built the Falcon Skorpion, a modified 92 Supra, specifically for the Supra Vs CCGT Ultra Modified Shootout, though we never got the invitation to do so. Now? The chance was right in front of me.

"I'll take it!",I yelped, not hesitating for a second.

"Love the enthusiasm Seth",one of the men said,"tell me, do you know what it takes to get invited for this?"

"No",I answered.

"You have to be recomended

by someone whose raced in the past,"he replied me,"the current Supra Champion, Joseph Kane, recommended you for the Reventon Vs GTO V12 Runnoff as well as Sunset Peninsula exclusive Dream Championship, a ten lap un-restricted race for the Great Eight to determine once and for all who the fastest is."

I needed a minute to think this all through.

"Guess I need to talk to Joe",I said laughing,"when's the race?"

"Two weeks from now",The man said,"we can't race until we fill a second Reventon, and that's your Falcon F-1, it fits into the Ultra Modified category."

"I accept",I said holding out my paw.

The man and I shook. The men left and Dad and I walked out. The race had finished, with Alex and Joe tied for first.

I walked up to Joe,"so you sent me to the Dream Matches huh?"

"I did",Joe said,"problem?"

"Not at all",I answered. I sighed,"but I don't know if we can make it, it's a long drive, Alex has to ferry our cars..."

"Screw driving",Joe laughed,"I have a private jet, Ross and I can take you and your cars to California in one trip!"

"You have your own jet?",I asked.

"Yup",Joe answered.

"Will ya fly us?",I asked.

"Sure will",Joe answered,"I'd go back to your hotel and get some sleep, Ross and I leave early tomorrow."

"Ok",I answered,"see ya brother."

"See ya Seth."

I ran back over to the Ford where the others were packing up.

"Were going to the Dream Match Invitationals!",I squealed.

"Don't shit us bro!",DJ shouted.

"I'm not!",I replied,"Joe recommended us!" I held up the invite.

"Were going to the Dream Matches!",Josh shouted.

The ride back to the hotel was full of talk and predictions about the race. How much money we'd make if we won, the parts on the cars that would be there, who we'd be facing, things of that nature. When we got back to the hotel, we ordered pizza for a quick dinner and then hit the sack.

"Is the dream match someting you guys have wanted for a while?",Shelby asked curling against me.

"Even more than the 128 Miles Of Road America",I answered licking her snout.

"Well I'm happy for you",Shelby said,"goodnight my boy."

I smiled,"goodnight my love."

Within ten minutes I was asleep.
