#8 of Journey after 100

I know that I haven't uploaded in a while so I'm going to do something a little off and do a double post. So here is chapter 108 and 109 will be coming down the pike here in a second.

Journey to Another World 6

Ch. 108

After a quick look around, mostly through/around the different abandoned adobe buildings, I eventually found one that looked to be large enough for my purposes. It was strange to see these abandoned buildings as they resembled what could only be described as prehistoric ruins, but even that wasn't really a very descript description of the buildings. Back home I'd seen buildings like these and could only smile at the thought of how much effort was put into buildings such as these. 'Where some people would only see buildings made of mud, I see a whole lot more. Heck, I'd even made a few bricks out of the concoction that they used to build buildings like these.' Reaching out I ran a hand over the buildings and marveled at the craftsmanship that would've been put into buildings like these. 'They keep the occupants warm in the winter...while cold in the summer. Heck, these were the first masonry bricks ever made.'

With a bit of a sigh I lowered my hand and focused my attention towards the center of the building. "As much as I'd like to just relax and take it easy after all the training we've done over the last few days, I've got a Legendary Pokémon to tame." Reaching out I pulled off my last Pokéball and enlarged it by hitting the center button on the ball. "Come on out Articuno, it's time we broke you of this abusive attitude of yours," with that I threw the ball forward and watched as it stopped in mid throw and released the Pokémon within. Just like any other release of a Pokémon within its Pokéball, Articuno quickly flexed its body and shouted out its species name for the entire world to hear and admire its arrival.

After it let out its cry to the world did it slowly look about its surroundings and seemed to not be impressed by it. Only after taking it all in did she finally turned her regal head down and noticed me. 'If looks could kill...she'd still have a long way to go,' I thought as I saw her expression turn from unimpressed to that of a murderous glare. "Glare all you want, Articuno, but it's not going to really change the reason that we're here." This got her to slowly raise an eye at me, in what I could only think of as her interpretation of a...un-amused facial expression. "I told you before, that you're not going to be acting like that around the little ones and I meant it."

She lost the un-amused expression on her beak and turned it into one of scorn. "And that's what brings us to this place," I said as I swept my arm around to indicate the surroundings/interior of the mud hut. "In such a tight and confined space, you won't be able to get away from me and that'll limit a lot of other things." Seeming to test that, Articuno spread her massive like wings and quickly retracted them as they bumped into the wall and ceiling of the building. Knowing now that flight was out of the question, she turned back to face me and let out a puff of super cool air. Know what was soon to come I quickly moved/leapt forward in a dive and heard the sound of ice quickly forming just where I'd been standing. Rolling to the side I came up to that of a kneeling position and looked out of the corner of my eye to where I'd just been.

Where I'd been standing on moments before; now stood a pillar of ice. I had to admit that I was slightly impressed with how quickly she was getting with that of her Ice Beam attack, but at that same moment the upper portion of the ice pillar was quickly lopped off. I was a bit taken aback by the swiftness of that as well, but when I looked up to meet that of Articuno's gaze I saw her point to that of the pillar, then point at me with the tip of her wing, and then made a decapitating motion with that of the tip of her wing against that of her own throat. 'Sometimes words aren't necessary when a simply decapitation demonstration is needed,' I thought to myself as my eyebrows furrowed and I squinted my eyes up at the large blue bird. Now sporting a large/self-satisfied smirk on her beak, (To which I was mildly surprised that she could show that on a beak of a bird) I knew that this session with her wasn't going to be easy. 'It would be just an easy thing to simply just kill her and in that would solve the whole problem of her someone else falling victim to her whims; but that really isn't an option. She is one of the three legendary birds and has an important role to fulfill in this world.' Who'd know what kind of problems would arise from the actions of killing one of the three legendary birds and throwing some kind of triad balance off its scale.

Quickly ducking under the birds wing cut once more or probably another attack that was probably a Wing Attack, I felt something slip out of one of my pockets and roll across the ground. Once I got my feet under me once again I looked around to find whatever had rolled/escaped out of my pocket and saw that it was a jar of some kind filled with some kind of yellow like substance. I had to think about that for a few moments as to what those yellow contents could be, and when I did, did a very interesting idea slowly emerge in my mind. "Alright you abusive bird, it's time to get you broken of this horrible behavior," I said as I slowly reached around and slowly drew out my long sword.

I knew that drawing out my sword in a slow motion was more for the drama effect than anything else, but seeing Articuno slowly take a step back at seeing the long piece of sharpened metal made it all worth it. "I told you that I was going to break you of that habit, and I meant every word." Articuno took another slow step backwards while lifting up its wing in a defensive posture; as if it's wing 'could' actually protect it, but within its eyes it knew that even that could not protect it from something or someone that had the look of determination in his eyes. Not giving the overly large blue bird a chance to either flee or anything else, I quickly crouched down, and propelled myself forward.

(A short time later)

Ever so slowly the Articuno opened its eyes and slowly looked about. "About time you came around," I said to it, in which case only made the birds eyes open wider and begin to move about. "You can forget about fleeing. Those bonds are not going to let you get anywhere anytime soon," I said to it as I slowly returned my blade to its scabbard. The bird struggled a few more times, in different ways, in a vain attempt to either test how true my words were or that if it wiggled in the 'right' way it'd be able to loosen its bonds enough to free itself. Realizing that its bonds weren't going to let it free itself, it slowly turned its beak towards me and started to open its beak. The only problem with that was that the Articuno was only able to open its beak on a little way, pretty much only enough to get in a little air, but not enough to really make a difference.

"I learned quite a lot about our first experience and I certainly don't want a repeat of what happened the first time." With that I knelt down, tugged at a few different ropes that bound the bird, and then nodded at my handy work. "Who knew that all those knots that I learned back in the Scouts would come in handy one day," I said as I laughed pretty much to myself. With that the Articuno glared at me and I could only suspect that with this latest development that if given 'any' chance in the future that it'd pretty much take that chance and make me regret what I'd just done.

"It's been my experience that when dealing with someone who takes pleasure from other peoples pain; the best way to deal with such a person is to turn the situation back upon them." This didn't seem to really burn into the bird's thing head, but I sighed and shook my head. Standing up I walked over to the entrance to the old building and pulled out the jar that I had been given a while back and knelt down. Opening the lid to the jar I took out a generous amount of its contents and then began to smear a light amount of it around the entrance. With that done I slowly turned around and took out another glob of the stuff and made my way back towards the overly large blue bird; smirking all the way and the bird giving me a bit of a confused/scared look all the walk back towards it.

Once everything was finally finished I stood back to admire my work. "Another thing is that those that oppress others don't really realize or have experienced what they do to others; and this is a chance for you to experience that for yourself." When I finished explaining what was going on and my intent, Articuno's eyes began to grow wide and her gaze quickly turned towards the doorway that led into and out of the building. "I don't know how long it'll be before the sweet smell of honey to draw in those bug Pokémon, and to that...," I gestured down to the bird and could only smile.

Stepping carefully over the threshold of the door I looked over my shoulder and nodded to the tied up bird. "The bugs should be along shortly...have a nice night."
