Offspring of Warriors

It had been three days since Seraphor's plan to make things right inside the compound. While the small team he had made agreed with his plan, it didn't come out as planned. Seraphor thought the scenario would be the same with the movie; he started to rebel with the Parusans, taking an attention to himself, and hoped that it could draw their attentions to him. Apparently that didn't work. The guards were either too scared to taking him as a joke when he was rebelling, and that didn't make any attention at all, seeing that it didn't invoke any kind of reactions from the Parusans. Instead of taunting them, they became suspicious at the second day, especially since Seraphor forgot that in the movie, the insane patients were not drugged. This caused him to feel annoyed and started to drink a lot of water, which took Kranos' attention.

Stopping the silver red's action, he said, "What's in blazes are you doing? Are you planning to blow yourself up?"

"It just doesn't feel right. I feel like an idiot for trying it. Real world really sucks."

"Do you expect them to follow a plot like an epic? Seraphor, there's no way you can help them with gaining their attention. There are a lot of rebellions from the new prisoners, but some 'conditioning' caused them to be a willing pet dragon."

"If I ever get caught and put in that fight club shit again, they'll grow suspicious on why I am able to turn around their bets to themselves and start killing dragons for pleasure. I'm not a goddamn deranged dragon, you know."

"I know, Seraphor, but you should understand the situation. I don't want to let you fail us with only three days of trying."

Seraphor then made a snarl. "Then what do you suggest, Kranos?"

"Devise a new plan and wait for magic to happen...for now."

Unknown to Kranos, Seraphor did have a new plan if the one he tried wasn't working. With a little luck, he found Bartoz and Karkariz attending to a young Cerbesan. He caught them smiling to the golden one with a smile, before Bartoz could sense Seraphor and said, "Thought you'd forgotten about us, Sera. How's Kranos?"

"Fine."

"And...I guess that plan of yours didn't work out as much, true?"

The silver red sighed. He knew asking for a friend that could sense a failure would be embarrassing, but there was nothing he could do right now to make it right, and so...

"Bartoz, Karkariz, can you put me into that arena again?"

This caught Bartoz by surprise, and almost yelled "what?!" loudly if not for his concern on the other guards. The black dragon scanned around. Seraphor's action wasn't suspicious in the other's standard, yet his statement caused them speechless.

"You can't do that! Most of the guards here thought you as a beast, not as an object of amusement! What do you plan on gaining with fighting our race?"

Seraphor slowly turned to Karkariz. His blue eyes locked with the small Parusan, causing him to gasp and ran behind Bartoz for protection. The silver red was dead serious on taking another match in the Pit, yet every dragon there knew his violent fight. This caused Bartoz to say, "You have a reason for this, Seraphor?"

"I gotta find respect with the captives. They don't mind my actions with the dragons because I am just like them, a hopeless, rebellious piece of shit. I want to make a proof that a captive can fight back and win respect, even if it must sacrifice his own life. Also, I must prove them that I'm not a deranged dragon. I gotta win my own pride back. So, what do you say?"

They both stared at each other for a moment, before Karkariz said, "I can put a wager on you being a fighter, but expect the discrimination. Before you, there was one captive dragon that tried this approach, but he succumbed to his injuries and made those he wanted to protect lost hope. Are you sure you're up to this?"

"Kar, I've killed more dragons than a lifetime could make. I just get in, beat the hell out of any dragons, and get out. It's that simple, right?"

"Remember, Seraphor. Not all Parusans are cockhead bastards. Many of them are seasoned warriors. This is your funeral, after all, so don't expect to survive much."

Karkariz's word of discouragement proved to make Seraphor even more agitated, which took Bartoz's attention. The black dragon then whispered something to Karkariz before the light blue dragon left both of them alone, with Bartoz putting one of his front legs (as hands) on Seraphor's paw and said, "Whatever you do, and whatever happens, believe in yourself. Control that killing desire. Don't let your devil consumes you."

"I will try to fight on my own, Bartoz, but don't expect me to be brutal."

"Don't do any brutality in the Pit, Sera. You know most Parusans are scared to fight you if they don't want to lose their eye and tongue to a small silver red dragon. You've trained in a combat, right?"

After Seraphor nodded, Bartoz made a silent smile before walking away. Seraphor then said, "How is he?"

"Never before I found a nice boyfriend like him," said Bartoz with a merry tone. "We want to live to the fullest, as we both loved each other."

"You really don't want a normal partner?"

"Yeah, and getting frozen by a female black dragon? I don't think so?"

The next day, Seraphor woke up in an unfamiliar place, yet he remembered the smell and realized that he was near the Pit again. A slit of light came into the room and blinded Seraphor momentarily before the door opened to a sandy arena full of dragon and human spectators, with a chained dragon in front of him giving out a very dangerous killing aura. The dragon, quad in body type, was eager to fight Seraphor. The silver red was just calmly drawing his breath, while trying to remember everything he was taught in the Elder Temple.

When he stepped in, he saw the dragon wore a different iron-shackle-like collar, different from the runed collar he wore. When the feral was let loose, without warning, he charged to Seraphor. While the attack looked simple enough to dodge, Seraphor was aware that there was another consecutive attack when the dragon turned and swung its tail to Seraphor. He had anticipated this, and streams of memory came to him.

Spyro made the same tail whip movement and at the same moment Seraphor was trying to dodge it, but instead of completing the turn, Spyro made a sudden somersault mid-whip and hit the silver red square at the chest. They both helped themselves when the master said, "The belly part is the most vulnerable of all dragons. You got hit at that point, I can assure you that you won't stay frosty until the end of the fight. To combat it, you must embrace the nature. Feel the power of the elements inside and outside you, concentrate it on the point, and it will give tremendous power inside you."

He remembered Spyro managed to carry a heavy box two-times his size at that time with no strain at all, all with careful breathing. In the split second before the tail whip hit Seraphor, he took a strong breath, as if he wanted to breathe fire out. He concentrated the rock element to his front paws, and with a fluid movement, grabbed the tail and in turn threw away the attacker with the momentum of the turn. This caught the dragon by surprise, and this gave a satisfying smile to Seraphor.

"Like the wheel of life," thought Seraphor with a smirk. "Nice."

The dragon wasn't relenting, though. He again ran to Seraphor. The silver red was so surprised that being calm could beat any emotions, giving him an edge in combat. He never thought about that after finishing the training the Elders gave him. Concentration is the key of everything, and he was doing that as his eyes became yellow again, slowing up the movement of the dragon opposing him.

Dodging the charging dragon, Seraphor tapped some parts of the dragon's body with his five finger-like claws, and in an instant, the dragon couldn't move and fell over his legs.

"W-what did you do? I can't feel my legs..."

"Though this applies too to the humans, it's more effective with a dragon. I tapped your pressure points, shutting up motoric activity to the legs. Whatever you do, without me opening the pressure, you won't be able to walk."

"Please, just let me win.... I want to be free from the chains..."

Seraphor was sympathetic about it, and he said, "We all do, and I can help you. Forfeit now, freedom forever."

After declaring victory over the dragon, he requested freedom to the dragon, yet the one controlling the match said, "Sorry, but you're not allowed to leave until you win ten consecutive matches against Parusans. He's not a Parusan, but in accordance to your victory some days ago, I'll grant you one small wish."

"Then release him from his chains. It's sickening me to see his restrained like that."

The Parusan discussed it with the other dragons, before saying, "Won't you rather do it for yourself, like releasing the collar?"

"You do that, and I make sure you all won't last for five minutes. Deal?"

"Then, release the chains to the dragon."

The dragon was still surprised with the turn of event. While his metallic collar was taken off, he mouthed "how?" to which Seraphor silently put one of his fingers to his head while smirking.

When they left the arena in silence, the dragon wanted to talk, but Seraphor said, "Not now. We'll go to the medical bay."

Once there, the dragon couldn't hold his excitement, and said, "H...how did you influence them right that? I never knew a dragon with such charisma before."

"If you can disable a dragon with only dodging and throwing him, that can take their attention. It's more like a gladiatorial wager, dragon-style."

"Then I give you my thanks, and forgiveness for making me unable to feel my leg, Seraphor the silver-red."

"You know me?"

"Hell, I am! You're a legend, so don't try to cover it. The first thing I saw you, I thought you're the son of the original, but seeing those blue eyes and broken wings, I saw the pain you had in such a young age, and I was convinced you're the silver red, except that you're not all that charismatic long time ago."

"I changed much."

"My name is Entharex. Just call me Rex, if you prefer..."

"Maybe I call you with your full name. I have another friend with the same nickname, and I might got confused with two rexes all around me. Anyway, nice to meet you, Entharex."

"And you too, Seraphor."

Seraphor was relieved there was another Western dragon with him, but that relief was short-lived when Bartoz and Karkariz came and the dragon suddenly changed his mood and tried to bite Bartoz if not for Bartoz, out of reflex, drained his energy.

"What are you doing here, you treacherous servant?! I'm a free dragon now, so don't go kidding on me with that speech again. I've had enough of you Parusan servants talking like they're on par with Parusans! And don't go mocking me with that bad excuse of being a warrior, you..."

"Okay, calm down, you son of a bitch! How about if you find a mirror and see for yourself what you're before your freedom!"

"What?!"

"Bartoz, what are you talking about? Do you know this dragon?"

"Seraphor, this is a mistake for freeing this dragon. He's Konaz's favorite and as corrupt as he is! He was once caught forcefully mating a female captive all because of having a degree of freedom!"

The silver red turned his head to Entharex, very much angry on the revelation. This caused Entharex to try to defend himself by saying, "Oh yeah? And what is your standing?"

"My name is Bartoz, for the first, and I'm on the same team with Seraphor. You don't trust me, then fine. I don't trust a dragon overcome by greed."

The feud waned out slowly, before Entharex made a scoff and said, "We are all captives here. I don't care if you're a friend or a foe. You can't take my energy that much, so don't try anything stupid unless you're..."

"I was just using a third of my power. If I use it in full you're joining the Ancestors by now."

"Enough, you two," said Seraphor with a stern voice. "Entharex, what can you tell me about Konaz, and don't lie to me."

"Alright...Konaz is a sadist, and one of the worst. At one side you think it's safe, at another he's just fooling you around. I was caught by his charisma. I slowly became like him. I was a bully with no remorse, thinking that all of the suffering I got during the day the first time I was here 10 years ago must be paid for, and I did just that. Konaz didn't care about me. He just threw me away like a goddamn piece of shit, locked inside that dark room with no knowledge of the passage of time."

"I don't care about that. What I want is how to make these dragons hear my plea."

"As he said, you must win against a Parusan. I heard you defeated one, so congratulations, but from there, you must have a win streak against them. Even one loss resets the number. I once watched the match with Konaz, and he had this ferocious, undefeatable champion named Ragunost. He was a captive, but he is beyond saving. He's too loyal to Konaz and he's too strong. No dragons could ever lay their claws over him. It was like as if he was made of steel. He is also very strong. He once lifted a dragon around his size like ease and threw him away like a piece of paper. Undefeatable and dangerous, I only saw him once outside of the fights. He's as corrupt as his scales."

"So he's a greedy gold dragon, is that right?"

Entharex became surprised. "Yes, but how did you know that?"

"The only explanation for a corrupted greedy dragon is his scales. You're giving a metaphor that he's as corrupt as his scales, and thus I can see that his scales reflected his greed. Okay, that aside, how can I defeat this Ragunost?"

"Look, I admire you as a hero, but don't risk yourself. Ragunost is also brutal. I once saw him broke the legs of a green dragon with his overly powerful front legs."

"I might need more support than this."

When there was an agreement between them, Seraphor then made a sigh and turned his gaze to Karkariz while saying, "Say, do you want to taste the air of freedom?"

"I'm fine...without Parusans watching me all day."

During the rest, Entharex was given Kranos' old cell. While he was happy now that the chains he had lived with for two years didn't restrain his movements, he was still unsatisfied with how he now spending time. Seraphor even tried to console the dragon, but he didn't want to talk much, even trying to ask Seraphor to mind his own concerns, to which Kranos said, "Well, new ones can be quite stingy with old ones. Give him a time to rest. I'm sure he'll come to terms with the life down here." This gave Seraphor a little much of a recap for that day's event. He really wanted to help the distraught dragon, but, then, he felt if what he did was correct. Was it right to give a dragon a freedom, but giving them another suffering? Were they acting more like a human in this matter? What would the humans do if this was a choice?
