Chapter 2: Sorting Things Out ~ Episode 8: Smooth Move

The doors opened, and three people entered Henry's after waiting outside; just to get a copy of Nick's book.

Nick sat at a small table in the corner of the library, where many different copies were being featured for purchase. People bought them, and Nick would sign them. Nick was very happy to see people actually buying something he wrote, and happy to see Connor actually having visitors after so long. Connor was smiling brightly, watching Nick sign books, after a while the squirrel from before entered the library.

Connor looked over to the squirrel, nodding his head to him, "You are a genius."

The squirrel chuckled, "Thank you... But you should be saying something to him." he looked over to Nick, "He allowed you to feature the book in the first place."

"I'm aware of that," Connor nodded his head, "me and Nick go far back, all the way since we were teens, before even."

The squirrel smiled, seeming intrigued, "Well lucky you!"

Connor chuckled, "Yeah. We all recently got back together, me, him, and three others. All childhood friends, back again."

The squirrel sat down for a moment, "What do you guys do now? And before?"

The wolf sighed, "Now... well I'm not sure really. We only got back together since about a week ago. We threw a party for Nick getting a book published, and I gotta say: I had the time of my life that night. Really quick, I didn't get your name."

The squirrel nodded his head, "It's Wesly Redwood, and you are Connor Crook, right?"

Connor knew he was referencing to his name tag, "Yep. And about what we did before... we just talked, hanged out, did stuff together. We'd grab a bite to eat, play video games, party, we were just normal kids who had big plans. Look at us now, if you could see us in the past." he looked over to Nick, "We've changed a lot since our departure from each other."

Wesly made a bit of a disappointed face, "How'd you guys get separated?"

The wolf shrugged, "We all moved away from one another. It was horrible, having almost every single friend you loved the most in the world, one by one, leave you because of sources you cannot control. Either divorces, paying bills, whatever, we all were just in some of those times where we couldn't stop ourselves from having to go away. Because of the people you can't control."

Wesly nodded his head, "I see. I once had to move away from a friend. Had a big crush on him, too."

Connor giggled, "Tell me about it."

The squirrel blushed, but grinned, "I won't tell you everything, we met literally a week ago!" he calmed himself, "But yeah. I had to leave him. I felt probably the most miserable I had ever been in my life. It's just the worst feeling when you have something you've loved for so long, friends, items, whatever, and soon enough when you are trying to take that person/place/thing, and it's taken from you."

Nick was hearing everything, yet continued to sign books but listened closely.

Connor sighed, "It is horrible. But now we're all back together. What about you and your friend?"

Wesly seemed very sad all of the sudden, "I haven't seen or heard from him in forever. His name was Mark, and he was a squirrel, like me. But had this basketball belly that I just wanted to cuddle against, you know? Chubby guys are awesome. They are always the nicest."

Connor nodded his head in agreement and smiled, "I know! Exactly! In fact, I'm trying to become one, myself!" he winked, "We and my mate, Lucas, are gonna head over to this new restaurant soon. It's supposed to be concentrated on 'gaining' or whatever. But let's not talk about this right now."

Wesly chuckled, "Agreed." and the two continued to have conversation on the library, childhood memories, and so. While Nick listened to every bit of it.

That night, Nick threw another party at his house for Connor's success. They all agreed to that whenever they all wanted to have a party or celebration, it'd be at Nick's house as he had the absolute best house for hangouts and parties. There was snacks, conversation, and that night they all caught up on the newest episode of Homes.

"Doctor, this man died again."

"Again? That's the third time this month!"

"What can we do to explain such a catastrophe???"

"Well, we're just gonna have to Homes...!"

*BUM DANA DANAAAAAAA!!*

Lisa: "Has anyone noticed that the catch phrase of this show doesn't make any sense?"

Fred: "No, no... It makes... no sense at all actually. What the heck does it mean?"

Nick: "I dunno, but the intro is already almost over. Let's shush down and find out what's gonna happen to the dead guy."

Nick and George were cuddled together the entire premier.
