Chapter 2
Reality and pain.
William woke up in frightened, another nightmare haunting him in the sleep.
"Dammit, if I'm hawing more of those dreams I am going to be insane"
Resting a little he remembers last night, the running, the half demons and the taur... the what? A hundred questions filled his head, William becomes scared and unsure of what to do. Trying to stand up, he felt a pain in his shoulder and side, forcing him to sit down. Looking over himself, he noticed his wounds was been taking care for but they still needed time to heal.
"Looks like they don't want me to die, but can I really thrust them?"
Thinking back, he remembered some of the stories his mother told him when he was a child. The stories said that the taurs were bloodthirsty predators, killing everything in their path, a creature of no kindness or reason, inhuman in every way.
But he was alive, they had been taking care of him and the one he had talked to, Chrystal, seemed to kind to be the bloodthirsty animal the stories told of, but after all, he did not know weary much about her or the taurs.
Wile thinking, William heard someone walking towards him, looking in the direction of the sound he saw Chrystal and a smaller foxtaur walking beside her, carrying a small basket.
"I suppose you are hungry so we brought you some food and water"
The fox walked over to him giving him the basket before she turned to Chrystal nodding her head and walked away. Looking in the basket, William could see a leather bag with water, mushrooms, berries, and some dry meat. Looking to Chrystal, making a face wondering if it were real or some kind of joke, she only gestured to him that he could eat it. Relishing how hungry he really was William began to eat. Not been hawing a real meal for some time, the taste were almost like a blessing from the gods, making him almost throw himself over it all.
Wile eating William took a closer look the taur sitting beside the cave wall over him. Her lover body were like a wolfs only lager, the upper body looked more like a humans body only with white fur that covered all of her body. Her head were also like a wolf's, but it was something about it he could not describe that made didn't make it look so... animalistic. Her eyes were almost like staring into the summer midnight sky and a look that could make anyone just forget everything for a single moment. Looking over her William noticed that she didn't wore any clothing's but her fur cowering all of her body, but the thought of it made him turn his attention to the food, trying to hide his blushing.
"You said something about you believed I would sleep longer, so hove long did I sleep?"
Chrystal turned her attention to William.
"You were asleep for 4 days. The reason I believed you would not woke up so soon were because of your wounds, both on your body and soul, and I noticed you were taking a closer look on me wile you were eating"
Chrystal said with a small grin.
Hearing those words William choked on some mushrooms and almost were sent into panic.
"I'm sorry I did not mean to look I'm sorry gods please don't be angry I'm"
"Do not be afraid, I am not angry with you and I understand why you are curios"
Relaxing a little, he slowly asked her.
"What did you mean by... curios?"
"What I mean is that you are inside a cave and next to you is a taur, and I believe not many humans have met one if there are anyone at all"
For some time William did not say a word, when Chrystal stood up and walked out of the cave. Finishing the last berries, he lied down thinking about what she said to him. If he were caught looking on a girl, she would likely smack him on the cheek or get someone to beat him up, but Chrystal just smiled and explained to him why, so he guessed that taurs did not have the same morals as humans.
Thinking to himself he noticed Chrystal coming back whit another wolftaur walking beside her. The other seemed more muscular and William guessed that this one was a male. He had yellow eyes and black fur cowering his body except his neck and muzzle that were gray.
"William this is my mate and Alfa male of our tribe grayfang, he wants to talk to you about something"
"It is good to se you have recovered so fast William and I am wondering what you were doing in the forest?"
Looking down a little, he began to tell them.
"About a year ago it was a wizard that became possessed by a demon. He opened a portal to the underworld in one of the largest cities in the western part of the kingdom, ending with all the people there became possessed as well. When the king found out what had happened he ordered a small force of templar's to retake the city and banish the demons, but when they arrived they discovered that the portal was still open, transforming them into the half demons. Even there numbers are few they had become much more dangerous and the king ordered that all men available should take up arms to fight them. For a year haw we been fighting them, but I being son of a hunter, was sent out to scout the land and hunt down anyone of the half demons roaming the forest but on that day, our greatest fear happened."
When telling them of what happened to him, the memories appeared before William's eyes.
William was walking in a group of 50 scouts, all of them quite young, and looking for the enemy. They had searched the forest for two days and no sight of the half demons.
All the time someone would whisper, "where are they" and "we should have found them by now". They walked for some time when the captain stopped.
"What is it captain, do you hear something?"
"No, I cannot hear anything. No animals or birds, I think we should move more carefully"
"Yes, you should have"
A voice spoke out of no were.
In a blink of an eye half demons appeared out of no were and assaulted them, some of the boys was not able to grab there sword before they fell to the could ground. It was a short fight, the screams of the dying echoed through the forest. Panic spread through the remaining until someone yelled "RUN FOR YOUR LIVES"
As one they run away from them but they followed. William desperately looked for a place to hide when he saw a small crack in the mountain wall, he quickly run to it and crawled in, hoping nobody saw his hiding place. When the half demons run past him he felt a sign of relief, only to hear the dying screams of those that were unable to run away. In the following three days he ran away, sometimes another scream echoed in the forest, locked in a nightmare of knowing the next scream could be yours. Then he encountered them again and was saved by the taurs.
Finishing his story reality brought him back to the cave and seconds later, he began to cry.
Grayfang moved over to William and placed his hand on his shoulder.
"It must have been terrible to be in what you have been trough William"
"No, it's n-not that"
"Then what is it?"
Chrystal asked curios.
"I-I left them, I were hi-hiding when they, they died. I should be with th-them"
Grayfang looked down on him and spoke.
"It was nothing you could do William. If you did not hide you would have shared the same fate as your friends. I can understand your pain but you must accept it"
Grayfang and Chrystal looked at each other and walked out of the cave, leaving William to cry himself to sleep.
