The floating hologram of the Grandmaster Warlock Lord Mal'aga Darkrune was the only source of light for the entire room, the flashing blue hologram turned towards Carpender who standing a few meters away as several lashers maintained the conversation at their computer terminals.

"My old friend I am not one to make demands but the shipment of fresh corpses you promised me is behind schedule, I assume you have a reason?" asked Mal'aga

"I'm sorry Darkrune but I have been pre occupied, with the VALOR aggression on Makgana IV and other ordeals" Carpender tired not make eye contact with the Ra'ktan so he wouldn't know about his side project.

Unsatisfied with the answer Mal'aga folded his arms across his chest and looked down at the necromancer.

"Baphomet told me of your little Valgary pet, for once Nalfiria followed the chain of command, I have no time to talk to mere underlings. Now old friend, do you mind explaining why that animal isn't a genesis creature like the rest of her kin!"

"Normally I would Darkrune but this so called ‘animal' may be our answer to the Justicar's def-"

Mal'aga laughed interrupting Carpender's sentence. "You believe that a simple animal can kill the Justicar? You are more naive than I thought Carpender, leave the human for Lord Azaeal and I to take care of and while your at it, terminate your little creature and add the Valgary's body to that shipment of corpses"

Carpender bowed." Of course, expect them within the cycle."

VALOR troops slowly crept there way through the Khaos command structure, rows upon of dormant genesis creatures were imprisoned in large green canisters that plagued the walls of every room the marines entered and exited.

The smell rotting meat lingered in the air causing several marines to stop and vomit on the spot, the disgusting journey took the squads to the core of the Khaos stronghold, more green canisters covered the interior walls inside along with a single more extravagant pod in the heart of the room.

"Spread out, HQ needs the star map of other Khaos held planets in the system, look for some kind of terminal" ordered the captain

Following his orders, the marines quickly spread out looking for any thing they would consider a computer, the sergeant made his way to the central canister in the room, he pressed his hand on the glass and tried to peer inside.

An explosion.

The large canister shattered sending the sergeant into the wall shattering his spine and killing him instantly. The VALOR marines looked up in horror to seen the titan like monstrosity

"Hostile! Open fire marines!" yelled one the other squad leaders

The VALOR troops fired countless rounds fruitlessly at the genesis creature before the undead giant extinguished their lives, green fluid gushed out of its gaping maw onto the human rendering their bodies into bloodied skeletons.

"Commander To'vash this is Head Quarters, we recently lost contact with sergeant Shepard's team, take your team and head to their last known location, hopefully its just a power problem"

To'vash pressed a button on his wrist. "Copy, en route to their position now."

The Justicar finished looking into the green canister before turning around. "So what's this about now?"

To'vash pointed with his rifle to room to his left. "Command wants to know why the other team in the damned place has gone silent"

Arjun sighed and lifted his sword off the ground. "Of course."

To'vash motioned towards his squad mate closet to him "Zhakaev, you take point."

Nalfiria shoved the floating necromancer backwards after learning Carpender's new orders.

"So just like that! You are going to kill Liken just because Mal'aga asked you to! He's not even from the same House as you!" yelled Nalfiria at Carpender who seemed less than thrilled about her outburst

"Well I wouldn't have to, idiot, if you didn't have the will power of a wet towel and simply lied to Baphomet."

Nalfiria stomped her foot onto the ground. "Do you know what would happen to me if I had lied to her!"

Carpender laughed to himself. "One could only hope"

Nalfiria stomped her foot onto the ground causing the floating necromancer to flinch from her action. "You said it yourself that Liken would bring an end to the hell spawn that is the Justicar, and now your going to give that up just because Mal'aga asked?"

Carpender shook his head. "Nalfiria, do you know what I do for living? I am a necromancer; I see many living things die, what makes you think I care for this one organism? As I recall, you are from a different house."

The Ra'ktan turned around and floated away down the hall as Nalfiria called him back. "You can't do this Carpender!"

Carpender dismissed the voice with a wave of his armored hand. "Your concern is clearly noted Nalfiria¼"

Nalfiria turned around. "I have to help Liken Myself," She whispered.

"This shit gives me the creeps," said the Justicar as he passed by several more of the green stasis pods that housed dormant genesis creatures

To'vash saw one to the corner of his eye and could have sworn the undead inside the pod was watching him as he past. "Correct human, I suggest we make haste through this unpredictable halls to our destination."

Zhakaev peered around the corner to the next room, several Lashers and their squad leader a Fleshless One stood guard as they shambled around the entrance of the command center. The Darkspawn gripped his rifle and prepared to take aim at the Fleshless One, the grinning monster spotted the intruded and let out an ear piercing screech.

The lashers around their leader immediately turned to face their enemies and began running as fast as they could towards their prey, the screech also shattered the stasis pods located throughout the complex, glass and green fluids stained the metal gray floors releasing their ex-dormant host.

Zhakaev took shots at the oncoming lashers, one by one the rounds penetrated the undead's skin bit did not slow down the approaching monsters.

The Justicar kicked a lasher in the chest causing the undead to fall onto its back; the mutant creature placed its bladed arms upright to lift itself back onto its bent feet, Arjun quickly drew his sword to dispatch the lasher before it could stand back up but anther undead pulled the Justicar backwards from his target, the lasher held Arjun in a sinister hug as it began tearing away at his neck armor with its crooked, sharp teeth to get at the soft brown flesh that laid underneath.

A fleshless one cackled as To'vash rounds simply deflected off the metal surfaces on the undead's bright red bleeding body. "Just die you undead bastard!" yelled the commander as he emptied several clips into the fleshless one as it started to pick up speed.

Zhakaev walked backwards as fast as he could while he out stepped the deadly swings of the enraged lasher as it failed to draw blood. The half Darkspawn paused as he took aim with his energy rife and fired, missed. The lasher swung hitting Zhakaev in the chest sending the alien onto his back, he turned his head to see the Justicar grab the lasher by the neck that had been previously biting him in the neck and threw the undead into one of the shattered pods.

"If the Justicar can survive against these experiments, then so can I!" said Zhakaev to himself as his attacker shambled closer to his spot.

The Justicar back flipped avoiding the three unrelenting lasher's sharp blades, Arjun landed on his feet as he pressed a button on his sword's hilt. The bottom of his sword opened up to let a loose cable hang freely; he took the cord and inserted the end piece into the appropriate socket located on his wrist.

His silver sword cackled to life with white energy and his blade illuminated the entire area with its almost blinding light. The three lashers paused to shield their eyes from the overpowering light, after what seemed like hours the blade began to darken and the lashers uncovered their eyes to find the Justicar was gone.

Until he appeared beside the left most lasher, with a sweep of his blade the Justicar cleaved the undead in two effortlessly, the energy flickered immensely at the lasher's demise and engulfed the remaining pieces disintegrating the corpse into ash. The other two genesis creatures poised their scythe like blades into a battle ready stance but the Justicar was too quick and dispatched both of the monsters rendering them into dust as well.

Zhakaev grabbed his attack by the wrists to halt the undead's attack, snarling the cadaver started biting into his neck to weaken the half-Darkspawn's grip. Just as quick as the pain started it began to leave, Zhakaev saw the Justicar pull the lasher away and decapitate the beast, the white energy surrounding the blade looked like it was eating away at the undead as it slowly turned to a foul smelling residue.

Before Zhakaev could even respond to the silver plated human the Justicar had chosen his next target, he darted towards a group of lashers that were slowly making their way behind To'vash

A fleshless one battled with several daemon commandos, laser fire deflected off its metal plates while the rounds that did successfully hit the bright red muscles had no effect in slowing the monster down.

"Concentrate fire on the left leg!" yelled a commando over the radio

The laser fire started to focus on the highlighted body part on the HUD, the fleshless one tried its best to continue moving until the overwhelming fire power tore off the genesis creature's legs causing the armored undead to fall on its face.

The Justicar focused his attention on the middle undead that stood in the circular group as they shambled towards To'vash as he fired upon his own targets. "Target set to mid point," ordered Arjun to his suit's A.I

The middle undead was highlighted in a bright yellow outline signifying that the order was carried out. The Justicar raised his glowing blade into the air and threw the sword at the group, the spinning sword circled around the targeted undead, turning its fallen comrades into dust and like a boomerang the blade came back to the Justicar's open palm.

The group of rebel commandos gun down the last of their immediate threat when one of them pointed at a genesis creature that lurked down the corridor to their right. The undead horror had small hands but very long tentacle like fingers that touched the ground, on its back was a glowing blue power pack that fed power to a mask that covered the bottom half of its face. Its skin was a dark blue from the direct contact of the energy pack; the undead resembled a smaller and blue fleshless one.

The commandos instantly fired on the target but the undead vanished into thin air. The puzzled rebels looked down the corridor where it reappeared seconds later to be shot at again. Each teleport the undead did came closer and closer towards the squad, with each volley of laser fire on achieved in wasting their ammunition.

The shifter genesis creature appeared behind the squad, its long tendril fingers extended even more, it raised its stubby hands and whipped its bladed fingers at the daemon rebels before teleporting away. The squad remained intact before their bodies realized what happened from the near instant attack, one by one the daemons fell to the ground dead and in several pieces.

The Justicar cleaved anther lasher into two with an uppercut swing sending a fountain of blood gushing from the undead halves. He turned his head to see a long fingered genesis creature start appearing then reappearing closer and closer to him.

"Ok, What the hell is that!" said the Justicar as he raided his blade at the teleporting undead.

Commander To'vash turned around. "Shifter!" yelled the rebel at the presence of the blue skinned undead.

"Ah what?" replied Arjun as he tried to predict the undead's next position.

"One of the Apothecary Lord's more advance genesis creations, very elite, I rarely see these undead on the battle field" responded Zhakaev over the radio

Arjun laughed. "Then I must made one hell of an impression for Khaos to send this thing at me."

Zhakaev snarled at the human's comment. "How can the infamous Justicar be this naive? I was expecting someone with this prestige to be more¼" The Justicar flailed his sword in the air. "Come out you teleporting ass hat!"

"¼Formal" whispered Zhakaev to himself

Liken walked leisurely down the hallway as she passed by several Darkspawn scientists and genesis security teams. Everyday she fought against Carpender's genesis creatures, with each day becoming harder and harder, but the valgary continued to prevail against everything the necromancer had thrown at her.

She curled her claw into a fist. "I swear on the blood of my people I will kill the Justicar and mount his cold dead head on a pike to serve as proof to anyone who follows his destructive cause."

Everyday Liken watched the paused picture of the frozen face of the Justicar as he dealt the killing blow to her best and only friend. Carpender insisted she watch it to keep her mind focused on what she has been training so long to do. Killing the Justicar.

She followed the same path to the training arena where she fought Carpender's experiments it was a mutual benefit. She trained on her fighting abilities as Carpender field-tested his latest genesis creatures.

The two door guards greeted Liken; they waved their sharp appendages at the approaching valgary the left lasher pressed a button on the door's controls to open the large gate.

"Thanks." She smiled back at the undead that could only let out a twitch as its response.

She smelled the stale dead air that belonged to the arena, the thick stench of corpses hung in the air and Liken took in a deep breath of it preferring the smell of the recycled cold clean air that tainted the other rooms and halls in the massive underground complex.

"A home away from home" she thought. She asked Carpender to make the arena more like home back on Sepress Prime; hot sand covered the floor, giant rock pillars reached up to touch the ceiling of the massive room, a weather amplifier located in the farthest corner of the arena mimicked the climate of her home world complete with sand storms and the intense heat of the three orbiting suns.

She stepped out onto the burning sand feeling the warmth under her hooves along with the excessive heat on her back and neck. Like a well-tuned clock, the genesis creature combatants rose out of the sand on time like every day they followed their orders and shambled towards the unarmed valgary.

Instead of waiting for the slow undead to reach her like in the early days of training, she brought the fight to them. Liken leaped into forward into the air landing on her hands and feet, the valgary ran towards the lashers and within seconds was upon them.

The valgary pounced onto a lasher slamming the undead onto its back, without flinching Liken sunk her right claw into the lasher's chin and with one motion she tore the undead's head free off its shoulders.

"Come on Liken" She thought to herself. "The Justicar would have killed every lasher by the time you killed just this one."

A lasher raised its scythe arms over its grotesque head but before it could get an attack in, the valgary's tail impaled the undead through the chest and with no effort required Liken whipped the body across the room in a spray of blood.

Carpender watched from his view box high above the arena battle, he let out his raspy laugh watching a lasher beside him pull a large lever down. A muffled voice caught the necromancer's attention and he turned around to see the two shifters holding the gagged Nalfiria hostage.

"It's not nice to interrupt what I have plan for Liken, if my men hadn't stop you then...well I guess I would have two people I would have to kill, now wouldn't I?" laughed Carpender

He floated over to his prisoner and pulled cloth ball that had been muffling her voice, but instead of words Carpender received saliva on his white wrappings as Nalfiria spat on him.

"Fine." Carpender said abruptly "Bring the wretch into the arena, kill her along with the animal"

The shifter continued disappearing and reappearing closer and closer towards the Justicar, Arjun readied his blade to try and defend against the unpredictable attack.

Just as it appeared it left just as suddenly, the shifter penetrated the Justicar's back plating with its long tendril fingers drawing bright red blood onto the ground, Arjun fell to one knee as he supported himself with his sword.

To'vash fired his pulse rifle at the small blue undead before it teleported away but with no success. "The undead is just going to pick us off one by one, Justicar, we need to predict its patterns." Muttered To'vash into the radio as he looked around the room down the barrel of his weapon.

Zhakaev quickly turned to his right to see the hunched over undead, instead of attacking it paused and looked at him.

"Your... not a rebel...." Rasped the blue undead.

Zhakaev was surprised at the undead, not only was it capable of conversation and thinking, as it knew that Darkspawns had a complete different biology then that of the terrorists despite being the same race.

Zhakaev had his rifle pointed at the small hunched over undead. "I may have Darkspawn blood in me, but I'm fighting to see who is right and wrong in this war, I still don't trust the rebels and their frail human allies but Lord Khaos is defiantly a false idol"

The undead coughed as Zhakaev waited for a typical zealot response on how he has committed heresy but the shifter laughed at looked back at the half-Darkspawn.

"We...know."

Zhakaev put down his rifle and was confused at the undead's response. "What do you mean, you know?"

The undead coughed again but was interrupted when the Justicar flew in and decapitated the shifter, its body disintegrated into ash from the blade's orbiting electricity.

"Boo-yea!" laughed Arjun in victory "Try teleporting now! Oh-wait!"

Furiously Zhakaev grabbed the Justicar by the shoulders without fear or rational thought on what he was doing. "You thundering moron! I was getting information out of that shifter!"

"Or...it was giving you false information that would provide zero help in the war effort, because these zombies are such good informants, right?" The Justicar responded sarcastically

"This one was different you fool! It...it was self-aware! The damn thing properly had a better education then you!"

"Enough" To'vash said over the radio. "Zhakaev if what you said is true, then please put in your report in this mission's debriefing, and Justicar..."

"Yea?" Said Arjun

"Shut the hell up."

[Planet; Chru'ach, year 3,586, Tuesday May 26th, 8:27 AM. Necromantic Labs]

Liken stood with her claws raised to defend herself and Nalfira's life as the handmaiden hide behind the valgary's legs. Fleshless ones, lashers, ghiests, shifters all surrounded the two, out numbered and out matched, Carpender's voice rung in the speakers.

"Now ladies, yes it is unfortunate that you must die, but it is for the greater good. May your deaths be as quick as possiâ€"

A burst of laughter interrupted the necromancer's speech.

"I'm just kidding, you both are going to brutally ripped apart and then devoured by my own creations, I wish I could say it was nice meeting you both but...that would be lying."

A click indicated that the speaker turned off and Carpender floated away from the carnage that would take place momentarily; he pulled a listening device from under his chest wrappings and placed the ear pieces inside his head wrappings to listened to his audio recordings as they washed away the screams that were heard.
