GREY WAR

Chapter 3

-Ray Harper-

Ray was hugely exited for what comes next. First you have a several hour train ride. To most, that might seem boring, but when it's loaded with friends to talk to, food to eat, and even better when they bring up the Televisions with a huge selection of films to watch. Ray was quite looking forward to it.

He and Aria began to board the train with every other Guardian that was awaiting passage onto the train, the doors got jammed with people all trying to board at once. Least to say, it took a little while before they managed to even step onto the train cars loading zone.

"Move it or lose it son!" Aria yelled into the crowd of squished people all trying to board at once.

After a little while, the two of them managed to successfully make it onto the train without excessive injuries. Now came an interesting part, finding a compartment that wasn't already loaded with people. Aria lead the way and Ray followed closely behind her. Carefully trying to avoid hitting people with their sheath back mounted weapons. The compartments near the door were already loaded with Guardian groups, So they moved deeper into the train. Progressively it started to get lighter in concentrations of groups. Guardians in groups of five, started to become Guardians in groups of two or three. Ray and Aria made it farther into the train, it soon became less cramped, with semi empty compartments.

They popped their heads into a compartment. Taylor, Cameron, Jack, and Blair were sitting in this one.

Taylor looked up and nodded to them. "Hey, have a good summer?"

"Yeah, it was good." Aria said back.

"Good to hear, good to hear."

Aria and Ray stepped back out of the compartment. They would find another one.

The next two compartments were already taken, Guardians all exited for the trip, and the upcoming new year. The last compartment of the car however, was only inhabited by one. Aria went to the compartment, while Ray went to the door leading to the next car. He peered through the window, recoiling back to see it even more cramped with people than the area behind them.

"Well... Guess we're going to be looking for a while..." Ray turned to Aria, she was looking at the single figure in the compartment, he had a semi squared hat, kind of like a G.I military hat, that was pulled over his face, covering his eyes, and most of his face. He didn't look up at them, so Aria went and tapped on the glass of the compartment. - Tap, Tap, Tap - He didn't stir. Aria opened the compartment door, he still didn't stir. Aria entered the compartment, and sat down. He still didn't stir. Ray followed in, and waved his hand in front of the guy. Still nothing... Absolutely nothing. Ray slowly reached for the guys neck, he felt for a pulse. It was there. "Well... I think he's alive..." The Guy moved suddenly. Ray jumped back, Aria flinched a little in surprise. The guy yawned, and tilted his head to the side. Ray stood up of the compartment floor and brushed his Jeans and tail off.

"I'm pretty sure he's alive..." Aria said.

"Yeah..." Ray sat down next to Aria on the opposite side of the guy. Ray finally got a good look at him.

He was a strongly built K9, probably a German Sheppard, He had a light Carmel colored coat of fur, with dark grey fur patterns around his face and muzzle, he had long black hair, that was in a pony tail style with a piece of red fabric. He wore a black GI hat, and a long black leather trench coat with a belt across the chest. Black pants, and Boots. Ray looked at him, in search of a weapon. There was nothing big, no great sword or anything like that.

Was he unarmed? Maybe his weapon was in his bags, that should have been loaded onto the train two days ago... Still, It's rare to see a Guardian without their weapon...

There. Ray could see his weapon. It didn't make sense... It looked like just a handle, no blade. Maybe it was one of those folding blades? Or spring loaded blades?

Aria caught Ray's eye, he looked to her.

"Yeah, I don't see a blade either..." She said. Ray nodded, "Might be a spring blade?"

"Maybe." Just then, the loud speaker sounded. A loud little shrieking sound.

"ATTENTION ALL, ATTENTION ALL, GUARDIANS GOING TO CENTRAL ON TRANSIT, NOW CALLING FINAL BOARDING!" It ended with another little shriek. If that thing could be heard over the entire boarding platform... Ray wouldn't be surprised. However, how the German Sheppard in front of them managed to sleep through that... Ray was completely astonished!

"You would think that something that loud would wake him?" Aria said. "Guy must sleep like a rock." Ray replied back. Aria shrugged.

Ray leaned back onto the seat, it felt good at the very least to be going back to Central... He was certain Aria felt the same way as well.

He put his hands into his pockets, it would be a little before the train even started to move. Ray looked out the window Guardians were filing onto the train quickly, and in a not so orderly line.

"Aria, what do you think?"

Aria looked at Ray in a moment of confusion, "Think about what?"

"I don't know... Anything really, Central, the trip, your summer... Just trying to make small talk." Ray shrugged. "It's going to be a while before we leave."

Aria looked back out the window, "I don't think it will be that long... Everyone's almost boarded already." Sure enough, Ray looked out the window, just a few Guardians were still standing in line outside of the train waiting to board. "Wow, they moved fast..." Ray sat back down in his seat, the Sheppard in front of him was still sound asleep... A thought crossed Rays mind to take a marker and give their sleeping travel mate a mustache... He could hear the little voice in his mind. "Come on Ray... Do it... Do it!" Then another, "Ray Harper, your better than that... A mustache and a monocle will do." Ray smiled evilly and dismissed the thoughts.

After waiting in the compartment to themselves, the loud speaker sounded once again with a little shriek, "ATTENTION ALL, ATTENTION ALL, TRANSIT LEAVING TO CENTRAL WILL BE DEPARTING SHORTLY!" And ended with another little shriek.

They felt the train begin to move, not nearly moving at all... But moving. They were off to Central.
