"Hey look it's the freak of a fox." The squirrel called out over the din of the crowd in the lunchroom. Everyone sitting at his table turned in the direction he was pointing and laughed with him as the strange looking fox walked past their table, his snow white fur covered up by his jacket and trippants while his shoulders were hunched and his tail dragged on the floor behind him, a black collar around his neck with a sterling silver buckle and a small chain that went down it to the middle of his chest. One of the furs saw the black furred tip as it dragged by and was about to stomp on it with their boot when he turned his head to look calmly at him.

"Go for it if you think you can deal with the consequences hurting me will have." Kurogin said in a hushed voice, as he looked deep into the cat's eyes. The cat looked away after a couple seconds of looking into his strange mismatched eyes and the fox smirked to himself as he walked off to the table he usually sat at in the corner of the cafeteria because it had a window and it let him stare out it for the entire lunch. He sat down and put his tray onto the table before leaning his head against a paw and looking out over the garden in the high school's courtyard, marveling at the many different colors in the flowers and of the birds flitting around in the trees and the air. He sighed and, for the thousandth time in two weeks, he wanted to be able to fly like them, to fly out of here and stay with the birds in the sky for the rest of time.

"Mind if I sit here?" A friendly voice asked him. He waved his paw in the direction of the voice, the universal sign for I don't care, and continued to look out the window. He heard the sound of a chair dragging against the floor across from him and looked from the corner of his eye to find that it was a dragoness from the table he had passed on his way there. She was wearing a deep blue tank top with sunglasses sitting on her forehead and a chain around her neck that lead to an omega symbol made of white gold that rested just inside her cleavage. Her black and pink hair spilled onto her shoulders and her soft copper colored eyes stared warmly at him, which made him almost suspicious of her reasons behind coming to sit with him. Kurogin turned fully to look at her and held his chin in his paws while his eyes stared into hers, his mismatched pupils staring intently into hers while his tail flicked lazily behind him. She started to feel a little anxious under his gaze but she kept staring at him, not wanting to seem creeped out by him because, truth be told, she actually liked him and thought he was cute. The air of mystery around him added to the feelings she had for him, which gave her the courage to come over in the first place. He grinned nonchalantly and leaned back in his chair, keeping himself steady with his feet on the bar underneath the table that held it up.

"To what do I owe the pleasure of your visit?" He asked calmly, his rich velvety voice making her heart start to skip a little as she got lost in his silver and gold eyes, wondering why they were surround by black instead of white like everyone else. She forgot her voice for a second and smiled lightly in embarrassment, her cerulean-scaled cheeks a little flushed.

"I just wanted to sit here with you for lunch. Is that so wrong of me to do?" She asked innocently, making Kurogin laugh quietly and lean forward to take a drink from his soda to hide his smile. He was about to ask another question when a shadow descended onto the table they were sitting at.

"Hey, Cissnei, how come your sitting with the freak? He can't be to good for your health." The squirrel that had insulted him earlier said with a sneer as he crossed his arms over his chest while looking at them. Kurogin laughed and took another sip, earning him a glower from the squirrel. "And what's so funny, freak? Finally gone off the deep end?" He said with a growl.

"No no, I haven't gone off the deep end but I have realized why you have such a problem with me." He said calmly without looking in his direction.

"Oh really? Well I would love to hear your reason for why I have a problem with you." He said back, anger flashing in his eyes and his teeth clenched. Kurogin looked up at him and smirked knowingly with his eyes bright with excitement.

"Your afraid of me. You don't know anything about me, so you insult me and attack me with words but you have no idea what I'll do if you actually throw a punch. I'm glad you haven't cause I-" The squirrel cut him off with a punch to the face. The fox sighed and caught it with his free paw before twisting his wrist forcefully to send him the ground with a crash. Kurogin let his fist fall to the floor and went back to looking at Cissnei to find that she was staring stunned at him. He smiled at her and picked up a tater tot before popping it into his mouth as the squirrel got up off of the ground with a death glare in his eyes in the fox's direction.

"That was sheer luck that you did that, freak." He seethed as he brought his arm back to throw another punch when the bell rang for everyone to go to class. Kurogin smirked and got up before lowering the squirrel's arm to his side and patting his cheek tauntingly as he passed.

"Maybe so but I still knocked you on your ass. So you might just need to calm down before you do something you regret." He muttered teasingly as he walked off to his next class leaving the squirrel to rage alone. Cissnei watched him walk off and found herself feeling a strange inkling that there was a much darker meaning to what he had said than he was letting on.

For the rest of the day, Kurogin did what he usually did: coast through the classes and yet somehow still end up with every answer right without ever opening a book. His thoughts eventually started to drift back to Cissnei, making him wonder what was making her stick in his head so much. By the time he was outside on his bike to go home, she had taken up most of the space in his head and made it almost impossible to think of anything else. He picked up his helmet off of his Nakamura Firehawk V4 and was about to put it on when he saw the look he had on his face in the visor of his helmet; a confused yet somehow happy look in his eyes and a small grin on his lips when he thought about her.

"Some things never change." He muttered to himself as he put the helmet under the crook of his arm and twisted the key into the ignition to have the engine growl to life beneath him.

"Hey wait up!" He heard Cissnei call out as she ran up to meet him. He turned to look at her and found his heart racing as he saw her running towards him. She stopped and had to catch her breath before looking up to smile nervously at him.

"Yeah?" He asked.

"Ummm, do you think you could drive me to my house? My ride bailed on me and now its either walk or hitch a ride with you. So could you?" She asked as she looked at him nervously with a small smile on her lips. He put his helmet down and ran a paw through his headfur with a sigh as he watched the squirrel glare in their direction as he drove by in a Carson Annihilator Phoenix. He waved him off and smiled as he picked up his helmet before tossing it to her.

"I'd be happy to take you to your house, Cissnei." Kurogin said with a grin. She put on his helmet and climbed onto his bike behind him before wrapping her arms around his waist.

"Wait, what about you? Don't you need a helmet?" She asked as he revved the engine and slowly rolled out of his parking spot to the end of the line to leave.

"Nope, I like the feel of the wind against my face. Besides, it would be far more of a waste for you to die in an accident than if I were to." He said as he twisted the accelerator and sped past the squirrel's car before coming out onto the street and speeding off down the street towards her house. Cissnei had never had as much fun as she did riding that motorcycle with Kurogin and she didn't even know his name.

They made it to her house in under an hour and Kurogin parked his bike infront of it, not really wanting to stay long. He turned it off and stared at the off white color of the two story she lived in before laughing quietly when he saw her hair when she took off the helmet.

"What, does my hair look bad?" She asked with a laugh as she handed him his helmet back, but he shook his head and gave it back to her.

"Keep it and if you ever need a ride, just ask me and I'll come pick you up." He said as he made to get back on his bike when she grabbed his paw in her hand.

"Do you want to come in for something to eat or something? You don't have to go right now, do you?" Cissnei asked. Before Kurogin could answer, a loud engine roared behind them.

"Maybe another time, Cissnei. Your boyfriend might not like my company if we were to be in such close proximity to each other. I'll see you tomorrow if you need a ride." He said as he took his paw from hers and smiled warmly before starting the engine and racing back to his place, leaving her in a sort of daze as she watched him go. Her heart was going at a hundred mile an hour and she found her breath coming a lot faster. She heard something vibrate in the helmet and turned it over to find that there was a phone velcroed to the top with his number flashing on the screen. She quickly put the new phone into her pocket and watched as her boyfriend drove to a stop infront of her. He cut the engine and got out of the car before taking the helmet from her grasp and chucking it as far as he possibly could.

"What was that for, David? He was only trying to be nice." She growled as she turned to get the helmet when the squirrel grabbed her wrist and spun her around so that they were looking at each other.

"He's a freak, Cissnei. I don't want-" He started but she cut him off with a glare as she wrenched her wrist from his grip.

"He is not a freak. And if you took the time to see past his fur color, then you'd see that. He's right though, you are afraid of him." She said as she went off to the bushes on the side of her house to search for the helmet. David couldn't believe what he was hearing; not only had the freak dared to call him afraid of him but now he had turned his girlfriend on him. He swore loudly and got back into his car before spinning around and gunning it towards his house, already thinking up ways to get back at that freak of a fox and his now ex-girlfriend. Cissnei got up in time to watch him drive off and felt a cold chill go down her spine to the tip of her tail. Something bad was going to happen soon and nothing good was going to come to the parties involved.

* * *

Kurogin dropped his keys into his pocket and closed the door behind him as he walked into his sparsely furnished flat later that night, feeling exhausted from his ‘job'. His jacket was torn in numerous places and his pants were ripped and blood stained in places. He had blood splatter all over his front and a deep gash going diagonally from his right shoulder to his left hip on his back, making him wince each time he stepped to heavily. He let the constraints on his magic loosen so that eight other tails spilt from the middle of his original one as his fur turned to a pure snow white, marred only by the black zigzags underneath each eye and the marking running along the length of his left arm. He made his way over to the sofa in the living room and fell down on it face first, his eyes half closed with exhaustion as he thought about Cissnei for the thousandth time in the last few hours while his body and magic naturally healed his wounds at a steady rate as to not cause him undue pain.

In his entire life, he had never felt as happy as he did when he had spent those few minutes with her. He couldn't name the feelings he had for her because this was the first time he had actually felt them. Even in the village he had lived in for most of his life before going off on his own, he had never felt like this towards any of the many exceedingly beautiful vixens that lived there. Most of them would rather kill him than have him as a mate, one had even gone so far as to sneak into his room when he was sleeping and tried to slit his throat with her claws. That, among other reasons, was why he had left the village to go abroad in the first place. He wanted to see the sights of the world outside his village and to experience all the different aspects of the cultures he had never been able to know of.

Throughout the early years of his travels, he had forcibly alienated himself from the populace of the many villages he resided in to keep from letting his powers slip and let on that he wasn't exactly mortal. He kept up such charades until he found that he couldn't stay there anymore and left, though sometimes he had to destroy a village if it proved troublesome or the villagers tried to kill him once they found him out. He soon became more prominent at keeping his powers at bay and was able to live out a full lifespan somewhere pleasant before coming back as a different fur or leaving for someplace new. That was how he came to find the west coast city of Los Paraiso on a field trip from one of the neighboring suburbs. The kitsune had instantly fallen in love with the warm atmosphere and the beautiful views that could be had when one looked out from over the edge of a rooftop or from a high window. He had made a quick call on the day when they had gotten back to tell the principle that he was going to transfer to the Los Paraiso High School at the end of the term. (He was a student at the time and posed as his own father). It wasn't too hard for him to break away from the suburb of Shorecrest because he didn't have any friends to leave behind, and he had been infinitely happier in the coastal city when he was there for a week than he had during the entire eighteen years he had been in the suburb anyway, so there wasn't much to go back to.

But Cissnei was different. Out of the many furs, scalies, humans and avians he had met, she was the only one to show any emotion other than contempt or scorn because of the way he looked. Sure, there had been others before her who had tried to talk to him, but he usually ignored them and distanced himself even more, but with her he felt no need or want to distance himself from her. If anything, he wanted to be close to her, to make her laugh and to have his arms wrapped around her. He wanted to protect her from the evils that existed in her world and the many dangers in his, but mostly he just wanted her to be happy.

He loved her.

There was a loud banging against Kurogin's door that woke him from his light magic-induced sleep and made him groan a little in pain as he got up stiffly from where he lay, feeling the large tender area on his back stretch as he moved. He knew instinctively that it was sometime around midnight and had a pretty good guess as to who it was.

"Who is it?" He called out loudly, moving back slightly so that he was in the deep shadows that were thrown by his lamp and couldn't be seen easily. He heard the cocking of a shotgun and grinned inwardly as the door was blasted to splinters.

"Knock, Knock freak." David called back as he stepped through the debris, a twelve-gauge shotgun in his paws while he was clad in all black; a poor attempt at dressing to be the executioner. Closely behind him were a couple of his friends and a third fur Kurogin didn't recognize, which made him a little uneasy because in his line of work, the unknown is usually the thing that kills quickest. She was husky with brown hair in waves that ran down her shoulders as well as frame her face gorgeously and piercing frost blue eyes that made him shiver down to his soul. She was wearing a flowing dress made from white silk with black embroidery going up its front as well as its sides, giving the stitching the look of a mesmerizing art piece. He knew she could see him from the way she smiled in his direction but he couldn't worry about her right now, he just had to get the other idiots with the angry squirrel away from her. He bottled up his magic again to revert to the form they all saw him as at school and stepped out of the shadows to let them see him, his paws up in surrender and his eyes downcast.

"Wow, he's just gonna give like that? I thought he was going to put up a fight." The tabby from earlier said with disappointment in his voice as he stuck his knife back into his pocket. David walked over and slammed the butt of his shotgun into Kurogin's stomach to make him drop to his knees.

"It doesn't matter if he puts up a fight or not, Mike. I just want him ready for what's gonna happen later on. Jerry, bag him and tie his paws behind his back." He growled as he moved back to let his other friend, a burly looking jaguar wearing a pair of black jeans and a beanie on his head, walk over and slip a black bag over the compliant kitsune's head before tying his paws behind his back with a plastic ziptie.

"Your gonna regret ever calling me afraid, freak. You and my ex, you'll both pay." David seethed as the jaguar grabbed the scruff of Kurogin's neck and pulled him roughly to his feet.

I don't care, just take me wherever you want and get this over with, idiot. He growled inwardly as the husky walked over to him and touched his arm gently, her frigid fingers making his flesh crawl and cold sweat dew at the nape of his neck.

"Don't worry, Kurogin. You'll join them soon enough." She whispered next to his ear before vanishing in a small distortion of the air. All of this had gone unbeknownst to the three in the room, but for Kurogin, he felt fear clutch at his heart with icy fingers.

"We're done here, guys, take him to the truck." He heard David order as he was pushed roughly forward from behind and forced to walk at gunpoint to the elevators. It took all of four minutes to get him into the back of a truck that was idling in the parking garage underneath the apartment complex. He felt someone get in behind him and heard the truckbed door slam shut to keep him from drifting out onto the ground as they drove and went back into a meditative state to get himself ready for whatever was going to come his way.

Kurogin felt rough paws grab his shoulders and pull him off the truckbed to have him hit the ground hard before they dragged him to the designated spot, feeling steps thudding against his legs as they brought him higher and higher. He heard quiet sobs from somewhere next to him and knew without looking that he was sitting next to Cissnei. He could only imagine what was going on inside her head, but he didn't need much to guess what was going on in David's. The hood was pulled from over his head and he was greeted with a bright light from a construction spotlight that stung his eyes, making him squint to see straight. He looked around and wasn't surprised to find that David had brought them to a construction site, more precisely on a high floor of a building that was going to be used for a mall, the iron supports looking menacing in the dark morning light. He looked to his right and couldn't help but grimace when he saw Cissnei in the same position he was, her paws tied behind her wrists and her head covered by a black bag. The only difference was that she was naked and her tail had been strapped with a harness around her waist to keep it out of the way of her womanhood and tailhole. He looked away from the sight next to him and heard a taunting whistle from high above him that resounded around the construction site. Kurogin looked up and found that the husky was waving down him cheerfully at him with a revolver made of a sort of black metal.

"So freak, like the place I brought you to? Seems only fitting for an execution site, don't you agree?" David asked as he stepped out from behind a nearby support, a sawed off shotgun held loosely in his paw and a dark smirk on his face as he walked up to Kurogin and put the barrels to his forehead. He pulled the trigger and nothing happened, not at all surprising him but scaring Cissnei out of her mind and making her sob harder. He hadn't noticed before that her voice was a little muffled, but that was from the ball gag that they had fitted in her mouth. "Shut up, whore!" David growled before backhanding her across the cheek, making her whimper quietly but otherwise become silent. Kurogin felt rage burn inside of him and fought to keep it down when the squirrel turned to face him with a smirk.

"Oh, you didn't like that did you? See that guys, the freak has feelings for the whore." He taunted amid laughs from his friends. Kurogin kept his mouth shut and watched out of the corner of his eye to see the husky drift down to their floor, her revolver spinning lazily around her finger while her smile grew even wider at the site of him kneeling at the will of a mortal. He shot a glare in her direction before looking back to find that David had taken Cissnei's hood off and he was staring into her scared looking eyes, her hair disheveled and her cheeks flushed with fear. Kurogin smiled reassuringly at her and turned his head back as the squirrel pulled out two shells from his pocket and put one in each barrel before snapping the gun back into firing order. He walked behind the smiling kitsune and put the barrel against the back of his head. "Guess you two'll meet in death, fox." David growled before pulling the trigger, sending both rounds into his head and basically disintegrating it in a shower of blood and pieces of skull and brain. Cissnei screamed behind the gag and cried as his body slumped forward onto the ground, blood pooling from his neck. David wiped his face clean of the blood with his shirtfront and grinned as he turned to do what he wanted with her, losing all interest with the dead fox and focusing on the fun he was going to have.

In all actuality, Kurogin was alive and well, still kneeling where he had been before he had gotten shot and quickly cut through the ziptie restraining his paws so he could fight normally. He looked down at the illusion he had created and let his magic flow back into his body to make it end before returning to his nine-tailed true form. He heard the hollow sound of clapping echo around the construction site and turned to see the husky clapping, a smile of delight on her lips and a gleam in her eyes.

"I don't have time for you right now, so I'll deal with your problem after I solve mine." He growled before making himself visible to the lower five senses of mortals with a bright white fire enveloping the spot he had ‘died'. An onyx and silver pistol appeared on both hips in holsters that had appeared out of nowhere around his waist and a black leather gauntlet with burnished silver plating running up to the middle of his forearm that ended as a fingerless glove. David turned around and fell back as he watched Kurogin step out of the flames with his eyes alight with hate and his paws on each pistol.

"How-how are you still alive? I blew you head off!" He stammered as he scrambled desperately till his back was against an iron support beam. Kurogin laughed darkly and extinguished the flames with a spread of his massive demon wings with black feathers before furling them around his shoulders to make a cloak that covered his body out of them.

"Of course you did, David. But you mortals have forgotten your past and your tales of monsters and now the past has come back to make you suffer." He growled as he took a step forward, making David get shakily to his feet and drop his shotgun in favor of a .357 magnum he had hidden behind his back for such an occasion. He unloaded all six shots into the kitsune's chest, but the holes just healed themselves quickly and made him laugh as though he had been tickled.

"What are you?!" He cried as Kurogin pulled out the silver pistol and shot incredibly close to his foot, nearly piercing his big toe with the orichalcum bullet. He made to take out the second pistol when David's friends came out from their hiding places and brandished their weapons before standing his way, looks of mixed fear and determination on their faces as they stared him down.

"You ask what I am and yet you don't see the answer staring you in the face?" He asked before putting his pistol away and disappearing like the husky did. David looked around fearfully for the kitsune and watched in horror as his friends fell to either side of him, their eyes rolling in their heads as they slipped into the unconsciousness. He was about to run when Kurogin grabbed him by the throat and slammed him mercilessly into the support beam. "I am Kurogin Sentazumi and I am a Death Angel." He growled close to the squirming squirrel, bringing his muzzle so that it was inches from his. David started crying and whimpered as he was thrown bodily from the kitsune and slid on the floor to come to rest on the edge. He walked back over to the cowering dragoness and undid the ziptie, harness and gag before burning the restraints in his paws. He put his paw against her shoulder and she jumped slightly, her head going back and forth as her mind tried to process what had just happened. She turned to look at Kurogin and she hugged him tightly around the chest, her tears running down her cheeks and onto his black cloak.

"Oh Kurogin I'm so glad that you aren't dead!" Cissnei cried and he was surprised that she had felt so strongly about him. He hugged her carefully around her shoulders and whispered soothing words to her, his head on hers as he tried to calm her down. They stayed there on the ground like that for what seemed to be an eternity and in that time, it felt as if they could feel what they had been afraid to say bloom intensely. The sound of hollow clapping sounded again and Kurogin pulled away from her before looking up to find that the husky was standing just out of his reach on the outskirts of the circle of light the two of them where in. Cissnei looked around and saw for the first time that there was a husky standing there with an evil sort of grin on her lips, the sort of grin that made her frightened for her life. "Kurogin, who is that?" She whimpered as she pressed herself closer to the kitsune; fear definitely in her eyes as she locked gazes with the imposing husky.

"She's a fellow Death Angel, but I won't let her near you." He growled, knowing full well why she would be here. He looked down at her and concentrated a little to give her the knowledge to hotwire a car. "Cissnei listen to me. I want you to go down to the truck and wait for me. Knowing David, he probably has more than one weapon in there so you should be safe. I'll be down shortly, so don't come back up to look for me if you feel the urge to." He said as he stood up and shrugged out of his cloak to reveal that his clothes had changed to an open vest made of black satin, a pair of black shorts and a red scarf with a black line running down its length that wrapped around his neck to hide the lower part of his face. He glared darkly at the smirking husky and threw his cloak at Cissnei so she would have something to cover herself up with before pulling out his pistols and shooting out the lights shining down on them after muttering a quick spell to give her a glowing aura that could only be seen and felt by his kind so she would be protected from her. The husky hissed angrily and brought her revolver to bear before shooting off a couple shots in her direction, but he shot them down with shots from his pistols and stepped infront of Cissnei to prove as a barrier.

"Kurogin... Promise me I'll see you again." Cissnei told him as she turned to run. He turned his head to look at her and smiled half-heartedly, knowing he had a fifty-fifty chance of making it out of the construction site alive.

"I promise, Cissnei. Now please do what I asked." He said softly before turning back to see that the husky had transformed to her true form; a three tailed lioness with blue fur and white tribal markings running along the length of her arms and legs as well of her cheeks. Her dress was still intact, but it had changed to a shorter piece that ended about halfway down her thigh. Cissnei hugged him around the waist from behind for a few seconds before running off, the sound of her running away making him feel terrible but he had to protect her.

"So Kurogin seems we finally get a chance to meet. The old fool was right, you are a very impressive Death Angel to behold." The lioness mused as she leaned against a support idly, waving her revolver around easily while staring at him with a dark smile. He stared angrily in her direction and kept her in his sights, knowing she would have a good chance of killing him if she wanted to.

"How do you know my name and how did you find me?" He asked through clenched teeth, making the lioness laugh and run a paw through her hair before tapping the side of her revolver to her stomach.

"Shouldn't it be obvious, Kuro?" She asked in a perfect imitation of his mother, making his heart stop and anger overwhelm him. "Ah, so the dime finally drops. Yep, I ate the souls of everyone in your village. I have to tell you, Kurogin, I had never tasted so many different flavors in my life. The only one I couldn't get, though, was your sister. Lucky devil slipped through my fingers before I could get to her, but I had what I needed from everyone else."

Kurogin roared loudly and squeezed off a few shots at her before finding that he had only hit the support structure she had been leaning against. Her haunting laughter rang out from all around him and he looked all around to find her.

"Temper, temper my little fox. Wouldn't want something to happen to that lovely dragon you care so much about now do we?" She taunted as a bullet whizzed through the air and slammed into his shoulder, making him spin around from the force of the shot and shoot at where it came from. He jumped up to one of the higher supports and slipped a pistol back into his holster before spotting the lioness in the shadows a little higher up. He aimed down the iron sights and squeezed off a couple of shots in her direction just as another shot slammed into his side, sending him into the support to his right and making him yell out in pain. "You are such a gullible fox, Kuro. What would your sister think of you if she were here to see you like this?" She asked giddily as she dropped down next to him, her paws on her hips and a smirk on her lips. He coughed up blood from the shot because it had tore through his stomach and intestines and looked up contemptuously at her. She kicked him off the beam hard and launched herself after him to slam him through the one he landed on with a punch. He broke through the other beams underneath him and hit the ground hard, throwing up concrete and debris everywhere around him as he felt most of his bones snap in the process. He looked up to see her dropping down quickly towards him and rolled out of the way gingerly before spinning to his feet, his pistol already drawn as he watched the debris settle from the impact crater she had made. He watched with quiet loathing as her white wings furled onto her back and she got up with revolver in paw, a smile gracing her lips, as she looked his way. "Your not even worth my time, my little fox. I'm surprised a demon hasn't just come along and killed you by now with the way you fight, but I guess we all can't be perfect." She grinned before wrapping her wings in on herself and disappearing in a more exuberant fashion with a multihued blue flame before millions of bullets hailed down on Kurogin's head from all directions.

For him, it was as if the world had slowed down and he could see every bullet coming his way. There was nothing he could do about it, but he tried anyway and pulled out his other pistol before pointing them both down to the ground underneath him and spinning in a tight circle, the bullets ripping through the floor to send him plummeting beneath the floor that they had been on. He stopped spinning and gripped the slab of concrete he was falling with before flipping upside down and kicking out with it upwards to catch the lioness in mid-flight. He flipped upright to land on his feet on a beam and shot quickly at the spot where she was hovering before pushing his magic into his pistols and curving the bullets around the slab so that she would get hit on the wings as well as her front. The floor above him broke apart from the sheer amount of power that the bullets had behind them and he jumped from pieces of the debris to get above her before bringing his pistols up with his paws glowing with crimson lighting and a dark red glow around them. He squeezed the trigger and shot off a burst of thirty bullets from each pistol, each filled with enough force to blow through a heavily armored car as if it weren't even there. The resulting explosion from the bullets hitting the same place was massive and sent him flying straight up, forcing him to unfurl his wings and balance himself out before alighting onto the tallest part of the building, his breath labored greatly as he dropped to a knee to catch his breath. He heard the click of a hammer being pulled back and felt searing pain tear its way through his torso as the round blasted out his front, making him sway slightly and fall forward before his wings spread out to catch him. He drifted weakly to the ground and dropped about ten feet to hit the dirt hard, making him slide a little and come to a stop against the foreman's office building.

"That was a neat trick you did, Kurogin... Made me actually break a sweat blocking, but as they say, all good things must come to an end." The lioness said with a growl as she walked over to the dying fox and kicked him up with her foot before punching him through the building to have him bounce hard against the ground and roll to a stop, his wings torn to shreds by the amount of blood he had lost and he was fading in and out of the realm of the living, clinging to the slim margin of hope that he clutched tightly. He watched through slitted eyes as the lioness walked over to him, her dress in tatters and her eyes alight with eager anticipation. He growled in protest to the pain and got up slowly to his feet, his pistols hanging loosely in his grip as he breathed heavily and glared at her. She pinched the bridge of her muzzle in annoyance and gave him a swift roundhouse to the cheek before grabbing his leg and throwing him to the far end of the construction site, breaking through a bulldozer and smashing into a pile of I-bars.

Cissnei heard the loud crash and gripped the hunting rifle she had found tightly, her vision blurry from the tears that dripped down her cheeks at the thought of losing the fox she had feelings for. It hurt her to do nothing to help him, but she knew she would do more good if she stayed out of the way than if she went and gotten herself killed. She watched the lioness glide by and screwed her eyes shut in an attempt to rationalize everything that was happening, to try and make herself believe that all of this was a dream. Kurogin put his pistols away and climbed slowly off of the pile before staggering towards the lioness as she dropped lightly onto the ground, her revolver already up to shoot him.

"You know what, Kurogin, I would rather watch you die than eat your weak soul. I though that you would at least put up more of a fight but no, you just have to get yourself shot up for a girl you'll just outlive. What is the point?" She asked as she shot him twice, once in the chest just below his heart and once in his stomach but he continued resiliently forward. Each step he took made the wounds even worse but he was beyond feeling any pain at this point, knowing that he would die without telling Cissnei how much she meant to him, how she had lit up his life when there was naught but darkness surrounding him. He staggered a few more steps and took a last, shuddering breath before dropping to his knees, his eyes clouding over and a single tear slid down his cheek as he saw Cissnei with her face pressed against the window with tears streaming down her cheeks. It did his heart good that she felt so passionately about him and he raised his paw to her feebly before he fell face first into the mud, his blood pooling underneath him steadily as his heart pumped slower and slower.

The lioness knelt next to him and put her revolver into the holster on her hip before forming a black dahlia from her form of magic and fitting it behind his ear, a grim sort of smile on her lips while her heart felt a strong pang of guilt for killing a fellow brethren and a cute one at that. She straightened up and let her wings unfurl before flapping them powerfully to send her shooting into the night sky, tears that she never could gain control over spilling down her cheeks and a single quiet sob escaping her throat before she got a hold on her emotions. Maybe one day, Kurogin, maybe one day.

Just something to get out of the way; I do not own Cissnei. She is a character of a good friend of mine named Omega Swiftwing so don't take her without his permission.
