(NEW FORMATTING)

I'm sorry if this is confusing some of you, but I keep changing the formatting because Sofurry's writing system doesn't wanna seem to keep it's form when I upload the story. So this is the last format update as it is simple enough for me to make sure nothing changes to horribly when I upload the story (if it does, anyway). So, don't worry. The formatting won't be so ugly in the future.

Chapter 2: Sorting Things Out ~ Episode 7: The Little Girl

Connor couldn't get the idea out of his head, he wanted to do it right now, ask Nick to get the book featured. But he couldn't right now. He had to follow his routine.

The wolf sighed, looking around at all of the books, organizing them, making sure they are all in alphabetical order, some areas organized by genre. He pulled books out of shelves and into the correct shelves, he put in books that were off the shelves, he would, around the beginning of his volunteering days, help people check out books and such, give out information, but that rarely happens nowadays, and if it were to happen, Kiseki was always at the information desk to do it himself, meanwhile Connor was either dusting, organizing, etc.

Henry's Library was definitely not what it used to be.

Connor was continuing to clean, removing books off of the entire shelves and adding them to a cart, dusting and cleaning the rows of where literature and knowledge should be, until something tugged at his tail. He was startled and turned towards where he was pulled at, looking downwards to see a little girl standing in front of him, likely the age of four or five, holding his fluffy tail.

He simply stared and watched as the girl played with his tail, hugging it, until he cleared his throat, "Do you need something?"

She seemed as if she realized what she was doing, stopping immediately and standing up straight, looking down at her feet, avoiding eye contact, "Can you please help me, sir?"

Connor bent down and smiled, "Of course. Do you need a book? Do you..." and at this point he realized she was afraid of something, hearing a sniffle, like she was about to cry. Connor was all of the sudden sad, like he did something wrong, "...hey...what's wrong?"

"...I'm sorry..." she said, starting to walk away, "I'm sorry...!"

Connor started to walk over to her in panic, "Little girl, please wait!" She stopped in her tracks, wiping tears from her cheeks, mumbling some words under her breath, Connor walked up to her and turned her around, he felt afraid he was some sort of monster, "Did I do something that hurt your feelings? Was it my tail? Come on, talk to me."

She slowly looked up at Connor, almost making the eyes of a puppy, begging for attention,

Connor rest a paw on her shoulder, "You can tell me anything."

She started to calm down, trying to catch some breath, "I'm sorry, Cone-er."

Connor looked at her in surprise, she got awfully close to identifying his name, wondering how she knew anything close to it, but looking at his name tag, he realized that was how, he chuckled, "It's pronounced, Kahn-er."

She nodded her head, "...Conner..."

He nodded back, smiling, feeling weird inside, looking at her curiously, "Did you need something?"

The little girl nodded once more, seeming to be a bit cheered up, "I'm looking for a book, but, I can't find it, though. Can you help me? Please?"

Connor felt some sort of connection to this girl, all of the sudden, he didn't know why, "Sure, of course. What was the book called? What was the name?"

"It's called The Wolf Runs," she said, "it's my favorite book."

Connor was shocked to hear this title. He loved this book when he was little, absolutely adored this book more than anything. He'd bring it everywhere he went, on car rides, to school, to everywhere he'd walk, he'd bring this book with him because it inspired him, it made him laugh, and actually had a really good story. It's surprisingly good, even today if he read it, he'd be astonished at how good it is.

He looked at her after day dreaming about it for a few seconds, "...yes...yes Yeah we have that book...Yep."

She smiled brightly, "Yay...!"

After finding the book in the kids section, and seeing the cover again for the first time in forever, he sighed, showing it to her, "You mean this one, right? The Wolf Runs?"

She got all giddy about it, grinning, "Yes! Yay!" and Connor knew that she loved this book as much as he once did, as well.

"Do you have a library card?" he asked.

She pulled one out of her pocket and nodded her head, "Mhm."

He walked over to a counter, scanning the card, afterwards scanning the book, and he finally handed the book to her, "Be sure to return that as soon as you can, alright? You can't keep it forever!"

She giggled, "Other people want to read it, too! Right, mister Connor?"

He laughed, "Yes. Yes, they do." he pat her on the head, "Is that everything you need?"

"Yep!" she bowed.

"...Do you wanna play with my tail again?" he joked, bringing his tail around from behind.

She felt the tail's fur again, smiling, "Your fur is very soft, mister Connor. It's nice."

Connor smiled, "Thank you... I didn't get your name, did I?"

"It's Violet." she answered, "My name is Violet. I hope we meet again soon, mister Connor."

"Please," he responded, "please just call me Connor. You are too kind! And I hope we meet again soon, as well. Come again!" he said, as she walked away, he waved goodbye, she waved back.

As she walked away, through the main front door, he noticed that her mother was waiting outside, and as they walked away, the mother seemed as if she was yelling at her, angrily, and she was back to sad. He didn't see what else happened as they left the window view. All he got out of that was MANNERS, STANDING UP STRAIGHT, and AVOIDING EYE CONTACT.

And she screamed "I'm sorry!" as the last thing he saw was a hand being raised towards her, but it was too late, he didn't see what happened to Violet. He was going to run outside and find out, but knew that they had already driven away from the location.

He suddenly felt absolutely terrible. He had to see her again as soon as possible.
