Chronicles of Cold Winter - Chapter 6

I hope you guys like. Any and all feedback is welcomed and appreciated.

Earlier on...

"Hi. Ah didn?t expect ya ta come back so fast." Dakota stood there in the middle of the

room waiting for Kalt to say something or to make a motion to enter. "Ah know what yore thinkin, but your guy loves ya still. He just needs some time ta get his-self together." The silence filled the room fast and Dakota was uneasy. "Ya know, ah've been there ma-self. Ma last guy 'nd ah didn't have much in common, just sex. So, there were times we didn't wanna see each other 'nd needed space. At times, it hurt so much 'cause ah wanted ta be with him so bad 'cause ah loved him 'nd other times ah couldn't stand to be near him, 'nd because of that, ah understand how ya both feel since ah have been on both sides of that coin." Dakota walked up to the big dog. "Ah' gonna leave ya alone now unless ya want me ta stay with ya." He placed a paw on Kalt?s cheek, stood up on his tiptoes and gave the dog a kiss on his cheek. "That is from your doggie. He asked me ta give that ta ya before he left."

The tears and sobs came out fast and Kalt's knees gave way. Dakota tried to grab the collapsing dog as he fell to his knees, bringing him down as well. Kalt was looking past Dakota when he spoke, "I love you. I love you and you hate me. Why do you not want me? Why do you want me out of your life?"

Dakota was confused, but he saw that Kalt was talking to someone not in the room, but he didn't say anything. He sat there on the floor with him, holding him and letting him get his feelings out. Eventually, he was able to get the dog to the bed and to lay down. He rubbed Kalt's back as he continued to cry more. Eventually, he started to calm down and fall asleep. Dakota tried to leave a few times but was pulled back down to the bed by the sleeping dog. He didn't fight it. A couple hours later, Kalt woke up and looked at the critter snuggled up against him. Dakota smiled up at him. "Uh... Dakota?" Explaining what had happened, Dakota left Kalt on his own now as he seemed like he was doing well enough.

Walking out and closing the door behind him, he sighed and leaned against the wall. 'Hell that dog is sexy.' He readjusted the hard cock in his pants. 'Ah just hope he didn't notice ma hardon.' He shook his head and smiled. Getting his bearings, he went in search of Tag.

Walking upstairs into the kitchen, he found Tag leaning on the counter looking at a tablet computer at a diagram of the city in one paw and a glass of whisky in the other. "Tag? You ok?"

Turning round, Tag nodded, his gruff voice a little more quiet than normal, "I'm just trying to figure out what our next move should be or if we should wait and see what the General's will be."

Dakota nods. "Ah still have thu van ah told ya 'bout. It can be ready in a couple minutes."

"Dack went to relax a bit. He is waiting to hear back from someone that might have information about the General." His voice was low and betrayed how tired he really was.

"Ah see. What 'bout thu others?"

"They are also resting." He smiled. "The private down there is someone Kalt had a fling with. They think I don't know, but there isn't anything that dog has done I don't know about." He paused. "Poor Davy. He was torn up when Kalt found Apollo. When Apollo left, I think he was just about as angry at Apollo as Kalt was at me."

"At Apollo? Why?"

"Because he knew it would hurt Kalt." Tag smiled again. "He didn't say that, but I could tell. Last I saw him, he was going to the rec room to work out some frustration." The tablet in his paw beeped. He opened a newly arrived email. "Hmmmm, Dack got a reply. It just says that it will take a couple hours to confirm the information. Well...."

Dakota grinned and shook his head. "I'll go down and find him to let him know." He wanted to offer help to Tag, but he knew it wouldn't do any good. Tag was a controlled bear and didn't accept help, at least not that Dakota knew. Walking back downstairs, he looked around for Dack. He noticed Kalt walk into the shower room, and he followed to see if he could get a quick peek while he was looking for Dack. Rounding the corner slowly, attempting not to get caught, he saw the white dog naked walking into the shower as the naked bear was walking out. 'WOW', the raccoon thought to himself as he stared at what the bear packed between his legs.

He stood in the door until he heard Kalt turn on the water. "Looks like ya have the same ideas ah?ve got about thu big doggie."

They bantered a bit back and forth until Dakota lead Dack back to a room and closed the door behind them. A good while later, they were startled by the slamming of locker doors in the hallway. Dakota was the first to the door and in the hall and heard Tag's voice first. He saw Kalt pulling on some black underwear at that time.

"The message said that my contact's transport was attacked and the General had listed it as a stolen military vehicle. It was stopped and all the passengers were taken prisoner including one young fur that was in need of some medical attention. That's all it said. Nothing more."

Kalt growled, "And where were the prisoners and Apollo taken?"

"We don't know that it is Apollo."

"WHERE?" Kalt's eyes flashed for a moment.

"The info is fuzzy there, but they are most likely going to be flown out of town to another area. We are not sure which airport or when or to where."

As Kalt pulled on black combat pants, Davy stepped up to another locker and opened it. Inside were different sizes and styles of uniforms. Stripping out of his clothes, the bunny got dressed in a black uniform as well, though he pulled on a full jacket not just a tank top. Kalt grabbed a black denim jacket hanging on the hook next to the lockers and put it on. It almost fit as it would not fasten across his belly. At least most of his white fur would not be seen in the dark.

When Kalt was finished dressing, Davy still had to tie up his shoes. Stepping over to a weapons locker, Tag stepped in front of Kalt. "You're not going, pup!"

Glowing eyes sparked out into the air, "Out of my way, Tag. Apollo needs me." Kalt's voice echoed in his throat with a hint of distortion.

"If you go out there you are going to endanger your life and the lives of everyone here."

"Then I'll go alone. If I get captured, by the time they get any info out of me about this place, you all will already be gone." Pushing past Tag, he climbed the stairs taking three at a time. Davy close behind him, taking only two stairs at a time.

Before exiting the house out the back door, Kalt settled down to keep his fur and eyes from sparking and lighting his location in the dark. Opening the door and stepping out, his ears perked up to listen for anyone moving in the snow. It seemed safe, he walked into the alley and turned to walk down it. At a quick pace, Davy caught up with him, putting some guns away that he had grabbed on the way out.

'Kalt. Listen to me.' Tag's gruff voice echoed inside his head. He turned back to see Tag, Misty, Dack, and Dakota standing out the back door. Misty was holding onto her head with one paw. 'You are walking into a trap. The General knows this and will use it to his advantage.'

"GET OUT OF MY HEAD, TAG!!!" Kalt's anger was borderline rage as he turned again walking away.

Tag stepped away from the house, not wanting to lose sight of Kalt and Davy, worried he would not see them again. A bolt of lightning came down from the sky striking the ground a few feet in front of Tag, close enough that it blasted Tag onto his back in convulsions, leaving him unconscious. Misty and Dack came rushed to him, Dakota went ran into the house to get a medical kit.

The thunder made Kalt look up, but he didn't look back. Davy saw what had happened, but he knew that he couldn't leave the big dog alone, especially if he was lashing out like he was and Tag would be taken care of by the others. He followed the dog.

Dack checked Tag over fast. He was breathing and seemed unhurt on the outside. "I can't believe that Kalt would attack us like that." Dack looked at him as he walked away, seeing Davy turn to follow him.

Misty looked at them walking away, turned to Dack, "He didn't do this. He thinks he did, but he didn't. I was in his mind when it happened. There was someone else around here that did it, but I can't tell who." She looked up to the sky. "It was someone I have never felt before. I only felt him for a moment, but I could tell that he is probably the most powerful being I've ever ran across."

Dack looked at her, the worry on his face evident. 'Who could be more powerful than us?', he questioned to himself as Dakota arrived with the medical kit and started checking Tag out completely.

Kalt and Davy walked a few blocks then hailed a cab. They had the taxi driver stop two blocks away from where the attack on the vehicle took place. Walking the rest of the way in the shadows of the back alleyways, they eventually came upon the area they wanted. A full city block was isolated and evacuated in every direction. One sign they ran across listed the area dangerous due to a chemical spill and they overheard a couple of the police saying this was the work of the terrorist and that they all needed to be caught and hung.

They were able to use the shadows to slip past the police. Kalt made a bee line to the truck that had been attacked. Walking up to it he was surprised to see it unguarded and not being cleaned up. He and Davy walked cautiously, looking all around the area for any sign of trouble.

"Kalt", Davy tried to hide his nervousness, but his shaky voice was clear even at this much of a whisper. "Tag was right. It's a trap. It has to be."

Kalt whispered back, "I know. I expect we are being watched already. Just be on guard."

Davy pulled one of his guns out, unlocked it and held it in his paws, ready to shoot anyone should they attack. He noticed the holes in the side of the truck. They had to be armor piercing. The jacket and Kevlar vest he was wearing probably wouldn't do much to protect him.

Opening the truck side door, Kalt looked inside. The computers inside were broken and riddled with shrapnel, probably not functional at all. The other side of the truck was setup for what looked like sleep bays. It's possible they were also transporting injured soldiers as well.

There was a liquid on the floor. Kalt felt it. It was viscous and seemed silicon in nature. He sniffed it and immediately wished he hadn't. He felt dizzy for a moment.

Davy saw Kalt swoon and he grabbed him to steady him. "Kalt? What's wrong?" Kalt stammered something Davy couldn't understand. "Kalt, you have to snap out of it. We are out in the open and we need to be ready."

Kalt shook his head and slapped the side of it with the palm of his paw trying to get his thoughts in order. He regained his composure and balance, but still leaned against the door. "Wow, that's some strong stuff, whatever it is." He sat down on the floor of the truck. Something inside beeped as he sat down. He turned towards the beep, his ears jumping up fast.

Davy looked inside and noticed the box in the middle of the floor with a white light on top of it. It flashed up an image of the General in front of them sitting behind a desk. "Ah, Kalt and a simple soldier." Davy's glowered at the image not appreciating being called a simple soldier. "I should have known that all of you wouldn't be stupid enough to take the bait. At least I'll get rid of the most dangerous one."

"Where are you, Gentry?" Davy slurred through clenched teeth.

"Why, I'm right here, soldier. What's wrong, Kalt? You don't seem like you are feeling too good." Kalt ignored him. "Well, no matter, you are going to be feeling so much better shortly. Bye now." The transmission ended.

"DAMN!!" Davy pulled Kalt up. The dog couldn't run yet and was still slightly wobbly, but he could walk. "We need to go Kalt. I think it's going to blow." He pulled Kalt towards the nearest alleyway across the street. "We can hide behind the dumpsters over there."

Kalt guessed they didn't have time to get half way down the alley to the dumpsters. At the entrance to the alley, he turned around and held out his glowing paws sending out waves of electricity as a sheet across the alleyway. A wall of ice formed across the area just as the truck exploded. The ice wall broke in, hitting Davy and Kalt knocking them to the ground. Kalt looked over at the rabbit after all the debris had fallen. "You ok?"

Davy looked at his paws. "A little scraped up, but I'm ok, nothing broken."

They stood and looked back at the burning truck. They could hear the police yelling about the fire and calling over their radios for firefighters. Kalt and Davy ducked into the shadows of the alley again and walked away unseen.

Tag woke up in the middle of a room in the lower levels of the house. He looked up at the raccoon shining a light into his eyes. "Take it easy. Don't move ta much, just listen ta me 'nd answer me. Do ya know yor name?"

Tag pushed the light away annoyed at how bright it was. "Of course. I'm ok. What happened?", he pushed Dakota farther away as he sat up. He could tell he was in the small infirmary in the house.

"You were struck by lightning." Misty walked up to him. "Someone attacked you."

Tag looked at her and realized her statement could have a couple different meanings. "The pup?"

"I don't think so. I felt someone else attack you. Not sure who or from where."

"It can't be Barron, he's dead." He thought for a moment. "Anyone else that we know that could do that? "

Misty shook her head. "No." She hesitated slightly to gather her thoughts. "But, before Kalt left, I was hacking into the program's files to see if I could learn anything. After the accident, I looked for anyone in the files that might have been able to have attacked that way. Barron and Kalt are the only two we know that can control electricity of any kind."

"So we are dealing with someone different."

"Yes. Though I found out we may have to possibly start dealing with a lot of someones." Misty gave Tag a small stack of papers. "These are dossiers of about fifty others in the program that we were not told about. They are stable users, like Kalt."

Tag slowly looked at the papers without seeing them clearly as his mind digested what she had said. "Fifty? And stable?"

"Yes, Sir." Misty pointed to the top dossier. "And, from what I can figure out, this one is the young fur that was in the truck attack, not Apollo."

Tag flipped the page reading on the young fur. "This one. This one is powerful for his age. From what I'm seeing here, he doesn't know all his genetic profile may allow. That could be a good thing for us."

Misty and Tag kept talking as Dakota left the room. He found Dack pacing in the next room over. "Dack. Tag is going ta be ok. He has a small concussion, thassall."

Dack sighs. "Good."

"Did Misty tell ya anything that she discovered?"

"She mentioned it, yes. I was as surprised as she was."

"Do ya think thu bunny 'nd mutt will be ok?"

"Kalt can take care of himself and Davy. No worries about that."

Dakota sat down on the couch in the room. Dack pulled up a chair and sat in front of him. "You ok?"

"Me?" The raccoon smiled. "Ya. Ah'm fine. Jus' a lot ta take in. Ya, know? You, Misty, Kalt. I jus' thought ya were all there was. But now. There is a whole slew of ya out there. Makes me wonder if the General isn't right."

"What do you mean?"

"That ma'be we are all in danger from those others out there."

Dack nodded. "I understand. But killing them isn't the right way to go."

"Ah know, but it's something ta think about."

Kalt had broke the window of a parked car and jump started it. Davy didn't like stealing it, but he didn't protest under the circumstances. They drove to the nearest hospital. There were no extra guards so they guessed this was not the correct place. Before driving on, Kalt parked the car in the lot to gather his thoughts. "Do you know the nearest airport that also has a good medical center nearby or inside?"

Davy's brow furrowed as he pictured the city map in his head. "I'd say Hilo Airport. The Hilo hospital complex is within a mile."

"That's across town though."

Davy nodded.

Kalt pulled the car out and they drove toward their new destination. A half hour later, they were slowed down because the traffic on the road to the airport was backed up for about half a mile. It was easy to see the lights from the police and military vehicles up ahead at a roadblock. They were checking cars going to the airport. Turning off another road, they drove as close as they could then took to the alleys again on foot. That helped to get them closer, but the alleys disappeared as they were within sight of the airport again. Just an open field and a chain link fence separating them from the airport from there.

They slipped by one of the roadblocks a block down, but were seen by a jeep of MPs as they ran by. "HEY! YOU! STOP!" Kalt looked at the rabbit next to him and motioned for him to leave the gun hidden. The MPs drove up to the two furs standing on the side of the road.

"Yes officers?"

"Just stay where you are and don't move." The eagle and lizard MPs stepped out of the jeep, their weapons in paw. The lizard reached into his pocket and pulled out some papers. He flipped through it. On the third page he stopped and held it up. "Looks like we have found a couple of our fugitives." He flashed the page around. Davy and Kalt saw Davy's picture first then Kalt's as the page was flipped again. "Yup. Both of you."

"Ok, boys, just stay there. Put your paws behind your head and get down on the ground slowly."

Kalt looked at Davy then nodded to the ground. Davy's paws raised and clasped each other behind his head as he dropped to one knee then the other and he lowered himself with his elbows to the ground. Kalt looked up from him at the MPs.

"Your friend is smart. Now you be smart too and get on the ground." The lizard cocked his rifle. Kalt nodded to him and slowly turned around putting his back to the MPs before he started to raise his paws. "Turn back around here, mutt." The lizard sounded angry and the eagle cocked his rifle as well.

"Ok. If you insist." Kalt flipped around, bolts shooting out of his paws and circling around the MPs, lowering the temperature around them immediately below freezing.

One gun fired before the dropping temperature did its work. The guns froze instantly and the guards suffered frost bite on their paws as they fell shivering to the ground.

The power subsided as Kalt helped Davy up. "They will live. Let's go."

Grabbing the big dog by the arm before he was able to get too far, Davy spun him around. "You've been shot." He saw the blood leaking out of the jacket and dripping down off Kalt's paw.

"It's nothing. We need to move." He tried to wiggle out of Davy's grip.

Pulling the hole in the jacket open a little, he looked at the wound. "It went straight through, but you are bleeding a lot. We need to get that stopped before we go.

The fur around the wound started to glow and spark. A patch of ice formed over it, sealing it shut. "Is that better?

"That's gonna melt and the water will keep it from clotting right.

"It's fine. We don't have time for this." He pulled his arm from Davy's grip and jogged ahead towards the airport, crossing the next road into the field leading to the tarmac.

Taking a second before he followed, Davy knelt down to the eagle and lizard and checked them out. Kalt was right, they probably would live, but they were not able to move much at the moment. They were awake and warming up, but it would take a few minutes before they were able to move well. Going to the jeep, he pressed the emergency button on the radio to turn on the built in beacon, then he ripped out the mic. He ran after Kalt.

"So, we need to see what we can find out more about the others in the program and see if there are even more than we know." Tag gathered up some supplies for him and Misty. "At the same time we need to attempt finding Kalt and Davy if they are still alive."

"How do you suppose we do that?" Dack sighed. He knew what Tag was going to say, but he was hoping that he was wrong.

"We have to split up, gang." Tag looked at them all. "Misty and I will get into the program's second installation. She downloaded the address and the plans for the building so it shouldn't be too difficult. It will just take time." He looked at Dakota directly. "You are going to take Dack in your van. Find Kalt and Davy as quickly as possible. My guess is that they are going to Hilo Airport. It seems the likely place. When you find them get them out of the city to safe house 17. That house should be safe for a while."

Dakota nodded at him.

"Tag", Dack stood up. "Are you sure this is the best course of action? It's bad enough we are two down, we need to keep together."

"We need to regroup, yes. And we can't do that without those two knowing what is going on. And before we all leave the area for safe house 17, someone needs to check out the second installation and find out all we can. Something tells me that the General knows about it and is actually using it."

"Doesn't he want ta kill those with special abilities?" Dakota was confused. "Isn't that what y'all said when ya got here?"

Misty grabbed the last of her paperwork and put it in a briefcase. "I believe he is trying to kill those that he didn't already have locked up in the second area. The others are above top secret so not many people know about them, at least not as many that know about Tag's part of the project."

"Ok. Ah've some packing up ta do before we leave." He looked at Dack. "Should take me 'bout half an hour."

"I'm gonna change my kit then I'll meet you."

"Ah'll be in thu garage. Ya can find me there." Dakota pointed down the hall to the last door at the end. "Right thru there."

"Ok. You each have your orders and we all know our jobs. Good luck to all of us and those we care about." Tag walked away, Misty following behind.

The jet sat in the middle of the tarmac. Next to it was stacks of wooden crates, and a tram that seemed to hold two sealed medical cylinders of some importance because they were the only things guarded out there. A group of six officials along with General Gentry walked out to the tram. Gentry stepped up front pointing and gesturing at the cylinders and seemed to be presenting them. A few moments later, the group applauded Gentry and he bowed slightly at them. The whole thing made Kalt sick at his stomach. He wanted to get to Gentry and take revenge on him, but he needed to be sure that his lover was safe first.

Davy moved a little closer to Kalt. "What do you think is inside the cylinders?"

"I don't know. But do you see any prisoners anywhere?"

"No. I don't see any." Davy took looked down at his uniform. "You know... I'm wearing the same uniform they are." He looked at Kalt's uniform. "Unlike you."

The big dog regarded the black denim jacket he was wearing. "What's your point?"

"It will be easier for me to sneak up there and get a closer look."

"No. It's too dangerous."

Davy crawled away. "Try and stop me without giving us away?"

Kalt frowned at the bunny as he crawled away, but he was right. He couldn't stop him without giving them away. He watched the tarmac and watched Davy.

Davy crawled to the side of the tarmac a good ways away from anyone else. Making sure that he was well into the shadows he climbed out and onto the solid ground, brushing off the dirt from his uniform as best he could. Slowly, but trying to look like he belonged there, he walked towards the jet. He noticed it had a symbol on the side of it he had never seen before. He took note of it as he walked by.

One guard noticed him walking up, scrutinized him for one moment, nodded at him then looked away. It was working. Davy was able to walk into the area and no one seemed to care. He was just another soldier to them all as long as he didn't do anything to tip them off.

He stayed away from the tram and the jet a good distance. Grabbing a lone clipboard off the crates, he started to look through the papers on it. They seemed to be just a manifest of the inventory inside some crates. All normal looking. He used the clipboard as a prop and he attempted to look as though he was inspecting the inventory on the list. He pulled the pen off the top of the clipboard and checked off things as he acted like he was finding them.

Another soldier walked by. Davy saw his rank and saluted him. The soldier saluted back and walked on. Davy sighed some relief that his act was working well. After he looked at some crates, he flipped the papers over to the last page of the manifest and attempted to look confused, like he couldn't find the inventory listed on the page. He walked closer to the tram looking towards it. One of the guards stepped between him and the tram as he seemed to get too close. Davy smiled at the guard and walked around to another stack of crates separate from the others. He could see the cylinders also had been labeled with the same emblem as the jet. Obviously they were important. He checked off some of the page and looked around for some more. The walkway into the jet was not guarded so he took a chance that no one would stop him from going inside. He was right.

Entering the jet he found himself alone. He looked at the settings on the jet control panel but he was not able to decipher anything he saw. He was not a trained pilot, but from what he could tell, the jet was full of fuel and ready to take off.

"You men, get those cylinders loaded immediately." Gentry's voice echoed into the jet from the bottom of the walkway. Davy could not leave if Gentry was out there, he would be recognized. Looking down the walkway he saw the guards carrying the first cylinder inside.

He opened a storage door and climbed inside. He had to wait until all the guards were gone before he attempted to leave. He held the door almost closed so it would not latch shut and lock him in. He heard the scuff of shoes on the other side of the door. A little light that was coming in allowed him to see the shadows as they passed by.

"Is this the boyfriend or the freak?"

"I think it's the boyfriend, but if you ask me, I think they both are freaks."

Davy could hear the first one chuckling.

He heard another couple voices as the first two faded away. These two didn't have so much to say.

Davy waited sat still until he felt they were gone. Slowly opening the door he looked out to see both cylinders in the jet but nobody else around. He stepped up to the closest one to examine it. There was someone inside, but it was filled with a translucent liquid and he couldn't tell who or what species was inside.

"Who are you?" The voice came from the front of the jet, making Davy jump a little.

"Davy... don't go in there", Kalt whispered to himself as Davy went up the walkway inside the jet. "Damn bunny is gonna get himself killed." Kalt adjusted his point of view by crawling over a bit, but it didn't afford him any new advantage. Moments later, a group of six soldiers walked up to the jet, two of them at the back were carrying flight helmets. He could tell that one was a female koala, and the other looked like a male sheep. The four in front of them were canines.

As the group approached, the guards parted to allow them at the cylinders. The first one was picked up by two canines, and the second by the other two canines. After the first one was taken onto the jet the first couple canines came off the jet and didn't wait for the others to be finished before they returned to the hangar. The second one was carried aboard as the koala followed into the jet. The sheep handed papers over to one of the guards and they were still discussing them as the other guards and canines went back to the hanger as well.

The koala was still aboard the jet and so was Davy. Kalt had to do something before his friend was caught or hurt. He stood up, brushed himself off, and casually walked onto the tarmac towards the jet. No one was looking in his direction now so it was the best time to go.

He was able to get ten feet from the front of the jet before he heard an Australian female's voice calling from someplace he couldn't see. "Lachlan, can you please come up here."

The sheep walked up into the jet as the last guard walked back towards the hanger.

Stepped fast to the back of the jet and walking up the walkway, he was able to survey the scene. Davy was being questioned by the pilots.

"... that still doesn't answer why you were in here or why you were in the storage box." She pointed to the back of the plane where she saw Davy come out.

The bunny was struggling to get his thoughts together when he saw Kalt walking in and his eyes went wide. Both the koala and the sheep looked in the same direction.

"There you are, Soldier. I've been looking for you." Kalt kept his volume down, but his tone and stern expression conveyed anger.

Davy snapped to attention. "Sir, I... uh... I was just..."

"You were sleeping on duty again. Weren't you?" He stepped up to the bunny, getting between him and the pilots who exchanged looks at each other. "I've put you on report for this already. You are asking to be demoted again, aren't you?"

"No, Captain, Sir. I'm sorry, Captain. Just been pulling double duty lately getting ready for everything."

Kalt turned to the pilots. "I'll take him for discipline. His behavior has been deplorable lately."

Nodding at the taller dog, the sheep smiled slyly at the thought. "I'm sure General Gentry will enjoy disciplining this lazy bum. He really knows how to train his men. The last soldier he disciplined was not able to return to duty for a couple days. I had the pleasure of watching it happen. You probably could learn how to better control your men if you were more like him." It was clear from his voice he was an Australian sheep.

Sighing heavy, Kalt refrained from smacking the sick minded sheep. "The general does have his way about him and I have mine when it comes to my choice of disciplinary action."

"You males disgust me sometimes." The female looked genuinely concerned for Davy's safety. "Can't you treat each other with respect and..." The sounds of gunshots and screeching tires outside took her attention away. She ran to the window and looked outside to see what was going on.

The big bear in the back was strapped in a terminal chair where the van's mainframe was housed. He tried to hold on and not spin around, but that was proving difficult for him with the way Dakota was driving. "Where did you get your license, by the way?"

"License? Never had one." Dakota smiled looking back at Dack in the rear view. "Hang on, here we go." The steering wheel twisted around and so did the van, coming to a screeching halt in the middle fo the tarmac. Bullets bounced off the glass of the door and made small dents in the side armor of the van. In his head, Dakota metaphorically patted himself on the back for building it.

The soldiers outside were riddling the van with bullets as Dakota sat in the driver's seat and stuck his tongue out at the soldiers. "Do ya see the doggie or bunny anywhere?"

Dack flipped on the video screen. The computer was scanning any and all furs it could see outside the van that would match as Kalt or Davy. "Not yet. The computer is still chewing on it." Listening to the gun fire out there hitting the van was a little annoying to Dack. He hated the idea of sitting inside. He wanted to get out there and bust some heads. "Anything we can do about those guns?"

"Ya, flip over to the second channel and let me know when the computer has a lock on them."

Dack toggled the control to the second channel. The image flickered on the screen and turned red in color with yellow blips marking where all the guns are located. An indicator in the top left corner of the screen showed 96%. Seconds later, it showed 100% and beeped.

"Now." Dakota touched a button on his radio. The faceplate fell open exposing another set of button. One was green and blinking. Dakota smiled then pressed it as he watched out his window.

The soldiers took note as a small cylindrical tube popped up on the top of the van and start spinning. Shooting out from it came wires that connected with each exposed gun, grabbing it and ripping it out of the soldier's paws, swinging them over the van to the other side and dropping them on the other side. Some paws were hurt, some had broken digits and wrists. Other soldiers were stunned why what had just happened.

Dakota took advantage of the distraction, threw open his door jumping out, landing directly before the front line of soldiers. Fluidly, he flipped over, balancing on one paw as he brought his footpaws down on the heads of two soldiers, knocking them unconscious, bending his knees to bring his footpaws together and twisting his body, he thrust them out again kicking two other soldiers in their chest. The audible grunts they made as the hit the ground thirty feet back went almost unheard by the others.

Dack stepped out of the van slowly, looking around for any weapons being brandished. The first he saw was an army knife from one of the soldiers on the edge of the group. He ran at Dack, bellowing a loud and deep cry as he swung and landed the knife on the bear's chest.

The radio cracked on. "Siena, Lachlan... get my cargo to its destination. We can't let them get to the cargo." It was Gentry on the radio. The sheep picked up the radio mic, "General, Lieutenant Lachlan here. We will be departing within moments." Sitting in their respective seats, the pilots strapped themselves in. Lachlan regarded the two in the back. "Captain, you and that lazy piece of trash better get out before we take off. You have about 30 seconds."

"If it's all the same to you, Lieutenant, we'll stay aboard in case you have any more trouble." Flipping the lever next to him at the back of the jet, Kalt closed the walkway. He looked at Davy to be sure he was ok with the decision. Davy nodded.

The pilots exchanged glances but continued to get the jet ready for flight. "Then you had better strap yourselves in quick, because I'm not waiting for that to close." The jet started to move.

"Lachlan, I have not got clearance from the tower yet and they have other planes coming in."

"I'm not worried about them, I can dodge them easily."

"I'm not worried about us. They probably are not a functional of flyers as you are." Siena looked at him, again with disgust. "You may kill hundreds of furs."

Kalt and Davy pulled out the seats in the back and sat down, strapping themselves in. The bunny leaned over to whisper, "I don't think she likes him very well."

Whispering back, "I don't either. For a sheep, he's aggressive and an ass." The brown bunny agreed.

The knife hit Dack in the chest, cutting through his shirt. Dack looked down at the small bulldog holding the knife. He picked him up and shook him, the knife falling to the ground with a clink. "Son, that was my shirt you just cut." Dropping him to the ground followed by one swift punch to the jaw, Dack heard the crack of the dog's jawbone. The bulldog fell to the ground grabbing his jaw, giving off a muffled scream.

Dakota flipped again, this time into the air. His paw twisted against his belt then out and away. Three soldiers were hit with small darts and instantly fell to the ground asleep. As he landed gracefully, his arms flew around him in a blur as something whistled in the air and followed his movements. When his paws stopped, a set of nun chucks could be seen in his paws. "Who's next?"

Dack lifted two soldiers into the air, knocked their heads together and dropped them on the ground, one out, the other trying to shake off the hit. "Dakota, you little bastard, you have some talent." He smiled at the little fur in appreciation.

The raccoon looked at him as he waited for any of the remaining four to attack him. "Ya've no idea, Daddy Bear."

"Daddy Bear? GRRRRR!" Not only did the fight make him horny, but being called by that name made his cock twitch in his pants. "You really know how to make a guy feel good, boy."

"mmmm so do you, Daddy Bear."

One soldier gave a look of utter disgust at the both of them. "Faggots." Moments later he was out cold after a swing of Dakota's chucks.

"Anyone else care to comment?"

The remaining three backed away slowly, one looked behind for reinforcements, but noticed that everyone else was driving away instead. They continued to back away from them.

The jet was pulling out as well.

"Dakota, the jet."

"It's ok, let it go. We need ta find our friends first."

Dack agreed and stepped up to one of the scared soldiers. Grabbing him by the throat and picking him up off the ground, the other two bolted away and ran back towards the hangar without any more argument. "Have you seen any strangers around here?" He shook his head at the big bear holding him up, gasping for air. "You're no help." He dropped him and punched him out.

The jet took off at the end of the runway, barely missing a 747 passenger plane which had to turn fast to avoid the collision. Luckily, only a stewardess was hurt when she fell and bumped her head on a shelf. The rest of the furs on board were not injured.

"That was close, Lachlan, just as I predicted."

"Ya ya." He waved a paw at her to shut her up. "Just be sure to get the navigation set for where we are going."

Looking up front, it was a good moment for Kalt to ask, "Where are we going?" He unbuckled his seat belt and stood up, walking up to the front.

Lachlan looked back. "Base four." A questioning look crossed his face. "I thought you said you were part of this project."

Davy nervously stared at Kalt. He unfastened his belt as well, getting ready to get up as fast as possible to help if necessary.

"I never said I was or not. And, we've only recently been transferred into the project."

Facing out the window, the sheep flipped on the HUD in his visor. Moments later, it remotely connected to the onboard computer. He tapped instructions into the computer using the keyboard next to him. Silence filled the jet as Lachlan waited for his answer to come back to him.

Kalt tried to make out what either of the pilots were doing but he didn't understand how to read the control panels and charts on the screens. Looking out the windows he could see they were flying over the great lakes out of the city. From what he could tell, they were going to Canada. Where they ended up didn't concern him at all. It was what they would do when they were there and how to keep Davy safe that concerned him the most.

Lightning flashed through the sky. "Where did that come from?" Siena looked up and out. "There isn't a cloud in the sky." More flashes of light followed. The booms of thunder sounded like they were far away inside the jet, but it was clear they were closer than they felt. Kalt felt uneasy. He felt like there was something familiar in the sky but he couldn't figure out exactly what.

Davy stepped up and put a paw on Kalt's shoulder. The big dog jumped, bringing up his paws in fists ready to fight. "You ok, big... er, Captain?"

"Yes, private." He lowered his paws. "I'm fine."

The cocking sound of a gun pulled their attention to the front of the jet again. "It seems that you are not ok after all." Lachlan stood up from his chair waving a gun towards the back of the jet. "Just step back and get to your seats." He removed is helmet.

Moving Davy behind him, Kalt stood his footing. "Look, we don't want any trouble. We just want what's in the cylinders. We just want to get the furs inside to safety."

"If it wasn't for the fact that I have orders to take you alive from the General himself, I'd shoot you here and now, Kalt Vetur."

"Shit." Davy knew something would go wrong, just not this soon.

"Lachlan, what's going on?"

"Siena, just sit there and fly the jet and keep us in the air for now. I've got a couple prisoners to take care of."

Lightning flashed directly in front of the jet. Siena twitched from the bright flash, twisting the wheel to the right. The jet leaned to the right and Lachlan, Kalt, and Davy fell to the wall, the gun falling out of Lachlan's paw. Another bolt flashed in the sky as Siena righted the jet, this one hitting the jet square on top. The energy from the bolt caused the jet's computers to almost lose power, but Kalt could feel it like it had hit him.

Lachlan reached down for the gun on the floor. Kalt grabbed his wrist as he picked up the gun. They struggled against each other, all four of their paws entwined and grasping for the gun. Surprisingly, the sheep had a strong grip and Kalt was not able to easily to pull the gun away. As they struggled, the weather outside became chaotic. The wind picked up speed, increasing turbulence. Clouds rolled in fast and filled the sky, making it almost impossible to navigate by sight. Siena's worry was growing fast. The lightning seemed to be increasing in hits to the jet, each one causing another intermittent disconnection of computer functions. Siena knew that the jet couldn't be flown without working computers.

Each hit of lightning shook them around. Davy jumped in to help Kalt, but another sway of the jet pulled him away and to the front, twisting him into the pilot's seat. Siena looked at him, the worry showing clearly on her face. "I don't care who you are, but strap in, grab that stick and help me if you want us all to live."

Davy looked at her. "I don't know how to fly a plane."

"Well, you're in luck. This isn't a plane."

Davy clicked the seat belts in place before another twitch of the jet nearly pushed him out of the seat.

"Something is wrong. Lightning shouldn't be affecting us like this."

"What do I do?"

"That green toggle on the side of the yoke... flip it and pull back on the stick to keep us level, and keep the wheel straight."

Davy did as told. For a moment while he struggled with the stick in front of him, the jet jumped more than before, but settling down as he steadied it. He looked back for a moment to see Kalt and Lachlan fighting each other, the gun lost someplace in the jet as they grappled against the side emergency door.

Another lightning flash....

The emergency door dropped off...

Kalt and Lachlan flew out into the sky...

Davy screamed for his big dog...

Siena struggled against the buckling of the jet, the inside pressure getting sucked out as it begins to barrel roll in the sky. Computer systems frying and sparking all around the cockpit. The cylinders coming loose from their secured area. They fell around the inside, cracking open, the occupants coming out of them.

"HANG ON!!!!!", the koala screamed.

Davy could not hear Siena over the roar of the wind and his own screams.

The water in one of the great lakes was approaching fast. The feline and the other creature from the cylinders sputtered sedative fluid out of their lungs during the crash in the water. Torrents of water spilling in from the open doorway, filling the cabin. The kitty quickly woke up at the water's touch...
