Infinity Codex

A group of humanoid animals share a table in the main cafeteria of Cerberus Orbital Space Station around Pluto. The sextet mostly mammals (a lady cheetah, a mouse, a lady rabbit, a turtle and two dogs) are eating a small variety of meals suited to their diets, albeit each in a different manner. The turtle has a large garden salad in front of him with fruit and nuts added in for good measure. He is dressed mainly in the style of a mechanic or engineer. Across from him are the rodents. The lady rabbit, white furred with a black leather corset and skirt to match, is also enjoying a large garden salad but unlike the turtle hers has Chinese fried noodles, croutons and almost drowned in Italian dressing Next to her is a brown furred mouse in a black cassock like many Orthodox priests and rabbis wear; happily munching on enchiladas and other Mexican style foods. At the other end of the table are the carnivores. Flanking the one side of the male dog is the lady cheetah. Dressed in a techno-tribal outfit with much of the material see-through, her attire leaves little to the imagination as she eats gyros and rubs the upper thigh of the dog. Directly seated across from the cheetah is a female akita in a black kimono. Glaring at the cheetah as well as winking at her and the male she shares some of the large volume of lo mein, steamed dumplings and grandfather chicken with the dog she is also very interested in. Between the two females is a massive male, a hybrid of rottweiler and German Shepard he wears black jeans, a black duster and a black T-Shirt with the inscription of "Beware of Small Minded People in Large Groups" emblazoned in gothic red letters as he enjoys Buffalo chicken sandwiches and Pizza Steak sandwiches with mushrooms and bacon sharing his own feast with his fellow females carnivores.

"Hey, Lockheed," calls the cheetah as she looks over at the turtle. "Any nibbles of work from our website? We're getting a little low on credits."

"Nada, Jasmine," Lockheed sighs in a forlorn manner. "Out legal status is still in question. With all of us more or less renegades of our provisional governments and the whole Moreau race in a legal and moral quandary not many are willing to hire us. Although anything turn up on your side quest, Mikiko?"

"Not much, Lock," the lady akita acknowledges. "Diggers Incorporate is working with Replica Unlimited on some sort of massive museum hunt. You get anything on that search request, yet, Belle?"

"Not much, Mik," the rabbit admits with a shake of her head. "I know Diggers is looking for extra security and Replica is putting out feelers for explorers. But no details yet, unless Rico's holding out on me."

"Not holding out, love," the church mouse says with a smirk. "I just got an email this morning. Part of the advantages of being an ordained minister of the Celestial Church, since we do business with Replica very often, is the inside information I can get." Everyone watches Rico with great interest as he continues: "Replica inquired with me directly as to ascertain if I was part of our little group. We're too hot to directly hire but they want us to check out an excavation site."

"How are we too hot, Rico?" The male dog asks with dark glances to Mikiko and Belle the akita blushes as the rabbit glares back.

"And what was that glare for, Gundolf," Belle asks acidly. "Did you go ahead and break something someone thought was important?"

"Don't get on your high horse, Belle!" Mikiko growls. "When I haven't stolen something physically you're done it electronically. Although half the time what I do is industrial espionage. I'm not the one that threw Titan into total chaos because she was bored with Pee Em Ess!"

"I didn't do that!" Belle says defensively to which Mikiko derisively chuckles. "It can't be proven legally, yet, but I have the evidence well enough."

Belle shoots Mikiko a dark look but it's Gundolf who speaks up. "Bits of evidence I know has been collect against you, bunny girl, and they're still gathering. Remember they up to twenty years for computer crime and double that for incidents like you caused."

"And some of the evidence can be used after just ten years." Jasmine chimes in. "It's only been five years since the incident took place."

"You're only fooling yourself, honeybun," Rico says with dead pan seriousness

Belle blinks and looks at each of them in turn as Lockheed adds: "You also delayed an operation by the Martian Mob. They lost their power base to the Sun but none of their power, bloodlust or ruthlessness." Everyone just stares at Lockheed and blinks. "Um..." he stammers."I know a few indentured servants they have working for them. But apparently they had a credit transfer system routing through Titan's local net. They were actually using it when you caused the malfunction. A billion credits were scattered and absorbed into the system. You can conjecture their displeasure."

"Is that why so many hackers are off-line but permanently?" Belle asks in a voice she tries to make sound casual but her fear shows through none the less to which Lockheed just nods as a group of rough looking men come into the cafeteria.

"There's the Moreau!" One of the men calls as he points to Belle. All ten draw submachine guns and start causing carnage.

"Martian Mafia soldiers." Gundolf growls as he reaches behind his back to take out a pair of heavy blades are more or less fused to the cutting edge creating a kind of sweeping wedge shaped combat knife on steroids.

"I can't believe you!" Jasmine yells. "And I thought Mikiko was sneaky with her ninja-to fetish."

Mikiko stares at Gundolf in disbelief as she manages to ask: "How did you manage to smuggle in your Kay-Bars, luv?"

Gundolf acts as if he didn't hear her as he makes a zig-zag beeline to the gun wielding thugs.

"Come on," Mikiko says with an exasperated sigh as she draws her own ninja-to and smirks to the others while crouching to spring into action. "Can't let him have all the fun."

Rico and Lockheed sigh as Belle begins to pantomime the loading and cocking of a submachine gun as more of them walk up behind the trio.

"Looks like we get the back nine!" Belle yells as a phantom SMG goes off in her hands, spraying shots of magickal force at the impromptu gallery of MIB behind her.

Gundolf smirks as he doesn't need to turn around to know what Belle is doing. Mikiko looks and smiles as noone ever expects that spell despite how many times she does it. Jasmine meanwhile unfolds a metal baton that crackles with energy once deployed. All in all there were twenty of them to begin with but after Gundolf shreds a pair with his massive blades., Mikiko decapitates another, Jasmine electrocutes yet another and Belle just blew away, less then half remain. Chaos ensues as a blatant cyborg enters the room. Wearing a crimson and silver Prussian style Military uniform, the Martian human cyborg mercenary hitman has sacrificed most of his humanity to machines. Bald with a visor built into his skull, the assassin who goes by the uninspired code name of Purge shows little emotion as he surveys the situation. In the blank of an eye his right hand transforms into a buzzsaw while a robotic scorpion tail reveals itself at his backside. The stinger of this tail is a revolver style grenade launcher/mini missile launcher platform.

"Madre Dios!" Rico exclaims. "Who invented Purge? And how did he manage to get through customs with all that military grade hardware?

"I have no idea, man." Lockheed admits. "Cyborgs of his classification need special permits to travel to places like this. Although his Bounty Hunter license may cover it."

"That Psycho's been given a bounty hunter license?" Belle asks incredulously. "I would have thought his ties to the Martian Mafia would have precluded him from being given a license."

"Leave Purge to me!" Gundolf orders. "Everyone else mop up the torpedoes to even the odds. Finish them off before the rest of them arrive!"

"You furry freak!" Purge sneers. "You can't handle the perfect of man and machine combined into a true fighting force!"

"Where's the man?" Gundolf goads. "All I see a machine mocking human form and function in near perfect mimicry."

Belle finishes off the rest of the drones with the same she used last time.

"Keep sharp everyone!" Mikiko snarls. "Purge never travels without his crew of fellow cyborgs, the Steel Centurions."

"Right," Lockheed agrees. "Now where are they?"

As if on cue, three more cyborg arrive. First is a hispanic woman whose backside is welded to a jet pack. Her arms and legs have been replaced with cybernetic limbs. Carrying an assault blaster rifle, she makes random strafing runs that send the others packing to avoid Harpy's blasts. Next is a man in attire similar to Rico's. Like Harpy, Octagon no longer has his natural limbs. Welded to his sides are a quartet of metallic tentacles. His legs end in simulated heavy boots much like an elephant's foot and his arms would be normally if not for the fact that they were mechanical. Octagon's head is by far his most bizarre feature. A large triangular vent and speaker unit replaces his nose and mouth, with a plexiglass dome replacing the top of his skull and a visor similar to Purge in place of his eyes. Electric lights flash under the dome. Using telekinesis he tosses people and various objects around and about himself. Finally slithering on a large simulated snake lower torso is Medusa. Long ago having surrendered her legs she sports a large crossbow on her left cyberarm and a telescoping curved blade in her right. A Rastafarian woman, her dreadlocks are robotic serpents as her eyes are actually cybernetic as well.

Mikiko makes a mad dash for Octagon, her ninja sword held just under her left arm. Jasmine takes a laser rifle off of one of the dead thugs and gives the akita cover fire. Lockheed like wise grabs guns as Rico grabs a string of beads not unlike a rosary save that the crucifix is replaced by a crystal star, and starts to pray. Harpy sees the herbivores and starts a strafing run. However, when the stream of shots actually gets now the trio, they are harmlessly deflected by a force dome. Belle and Lockheed target Medusa with laser fire as Rico maintains the shield.

Gundolf slashes forward with his blades as Purge attempts to bombard the dog into his grave as he approaches. But Gundolf is well practiced in ordinance dodge ball so all Purge does is waste ammo. Attemptes to slice the canine in two are similarly dodged or parried as Gundolf manages to slice off Purge's hand, getting a cracked skull for his trouble as Purge's tail gets in a hammer shot. Staggered but not slaughtered, Gundolf presses on as an attempt by him at an intestinal rip scrapes on metallic plating. A swift kick sends Purge sprawling but not before the cyborg scores a deep cut on Gundolf's leg. Rolling through the pain, Gundolf ploughs into Purge before the latter can get to his feet; making a deep slice in the cyborg's shoulder, rendering his buzzsaw inoperable.

Mikiko runs up to Octagon before she voluntarily goes tumbling under him, severely damaging the tentacles on his left side in the process. She pays for that later as Harpy shoots both legs in a sideswipe sweep strafing attack. Belle pantomimes a missile launcher and manages to blast Harpy out of the sky. Octagon telepathically orders a retreat as Medusa uses her hair snakes to blast Gundolf off of Purge with lasers, before shooting Jasmine in the stomach with her crossbow. Collapsing to the floor the cheetah can only watch as Lockheed drags all three of them into the protected area of Rico's shield of faith dome enduring withering fire from Medusa on his shell as he does so.

Rico attends the wounded as best he can as Belle uses the ambient magickal energy to teleport them back to their ship. Once there Rico commands an animated gurney to take the three companions to sick bay. Sliding down a tube to get to his med lab a quick glance tells him how grievous the injuries are. Jasmine is the worse off as the bolt was encased with venom and the poison is just now affecting her. As the cheetah slips into a coma, Mikiko slowly comes to and sees Gundolf arguing with Rico. Her internment with the mega corp garnered her advanced nanotech that has already repaired her legs. Rico is insisting that tests to determine how well the male dog has recovered. But Mikiko knows him better than the Cleric/Medic does. Gundolf was part of a government super soldier program. His nanites are even better that hers and add to that the fact he was built tough by remnants of the fabled American Military, a nationality that is no more but their ethics, arrogance and attitudes have survived its imminent demise, with the mission to create an organic tank. With the sheer amount of punishment Gundolf can shrug off and even ignore entirely, Mikiko is almost certain that they have succeeded.

"Just let the mouse give you a thorough once over, love." Mikiko says with an exasperated sigh. "And, Rico, Gunny's got a better suite of nanites than I do. Hell, he can soak up more punishment on an off day than Lock can on a good day."

"How do you know that, Mik?" Rico asks with a glare. "A big time company that supposedly never existed is responsible for his being here and yet I keep getting notices that his med recs are sealed for even routine maintenance!"

"She and others from one of the Galactic MegaCorps stole the data." Gundolf answers in a calm, cool and collected tone of voice. "And officially Goopworx doesn't exist. I think you know what that means, Rico."

"Yeah," Rico growls, "Shadow Ops. Then again, why should I be surprised? Humans created us and moreaus with certain purposes in mind. Carnivores are generally built for combat; herbivores for industry."

"Was Belle made for porn?" Gundolf asks directly. "Or as a honey trap? Or both? Knowing how male humans can be...ruddier than a bitch in heat, constantly."

"You don't complain, luv," Mikiko playfully growls, "Especially when Jazz gets in one of her moods." Everyone looks over to the unconscious Jasmine before Gun shoots Mik with an annoyed smirk. "Remember who put her together, mate, both Arabs and Asians like a variety in their partners."

Mikiko winces and violently closes her legs as she remembers what her "owner" used to do to her. Gudolf hugs her and lets her silently sob on his shoulder. "It's over, love, the bastard will have to kill me to get you back."

"I know," Mikiko says tearfully. "And that's what scares me. Jasmine had a similarly perverted owner but she's better maladjusted than I am. She actually lived in a harem before we got her. Part of her mind is still there."

"Jasmine thinks she's in another harem?" Rico asks incredulously. "Who's the Sultan? Gun?" Gundolf rolls his eyes as Mikiko laughs and nods to Rico's question. "Oh dear!" Rico exclaims as he places a hand over the front of his muzzle. "I know Belle has done some porn in the past nothing like what I know goes on in some Asian prefectures and Arabian sultanates. I believe some of the more affluent in those formoer mega states commission snuff porn unless, and I sincerely hope that, I am mistaken." Mikiko closes her eyes and solemnly shakes her head.

"It happens in all four sectors, Rico." Gundolf says solemnly. Mikiko buries her face in his shoulder as he admits. "I've starred in a few of them as one of the executioners. I think one of more of her sisters died at my hand."

"How...how could you?" Rico stammers. "Slaughter another Moreau for some sick human's pleasure?"

"I didn't have much choice either way, Rico." Gundolf relates. "It was at the factory as part of my training exercises. At least that's what I was told. Although the order to sexually molest the victim did strike me as odd at first, but it was only after my stint in the marines and special forces that I found some of the discs."

"Out of general curiosity, Gun," Belle asks behind them. "What discs did you inadvertently get cast in? I'm not mad at you, it shaved time off your indenture as well as served as part of your contract no doubt."

"Fear in the Forest, Blood Park Festival, Picnic Park Panic, Barnyard Barbeque, Urban Savages..." Gundolf says as he ticks off a mental list as Belle goes pale. "And that's just what I've found so...far, Belle?"

"I was raped in Urban Savages and almost died. On the disk the character did, but that's how I got out by faking my own death." Belle says fearfully. "It was a big dog that killed me. As I overheard on my way out, he was praised by more than a few for his score and body count. That and his chances for special forces acceptance."

"Special Forces and Shadow Ops are the most dangerous kinds of assignments to earn." Gundolf explains to which Mikiko nods. "Getting into that kind of program would accelerate my road to freedom. I stayed on for a few tours extra just for the credits."

"When was that run when we met?" Mikiko asks of Gundolf as he looks at her with a smirk. "The bastards you worked for did brain wiping, love, we met a few times that you don't remember. At least one was taped but I haven't found it yet." Mikiko shoots him a dark look. "I've seen them brain wipe you, hun, your commander took you by the scruff of your neck and put you in a machine. After wards you acted like we had never met." Mikiko gives him a frightened star as she touches her own stomach. "I think so." The akita stares at the others shame facedly.

"I think I know what Dolf's talking about." Lockheed says over the loud speaker from where he is on the ship. "One of the imprints that once held our lady ninja in bondage had a series of flicks called Ninja Wars, brutal rape and snuff films every last one of them. Both dogs are in Avenging Nagasaki. After Mik kills a couple of American lesbians, she gets brutally raped by Dolf. A similar scene appears in Pearl Harbor Revisited only this time Mik tortures a bound Dolf mercilessly before he turns the tables on her near the end."

Mikiko blinks as she remembers none of it. "Umm...where are these discs, Lock?"

"In the video library, as well as some of Belle's work;" Lockheed is greatly amused as everyone can hear his voice.

"I wanna see the discs I'm in." Mikiko states as Belle shoots Gundolf a look saying: "How can she not know?"

"You've never seen a brain wipe machine?" Gundolf asks to which Belle shakes her head then replies with: "I've heard about them and the seven foot male of my kind that was made by a deranged geneticist and named Harry Pooka."

"I was interred in one, once," Gundolf states, "but I managed to get back most of what was taken. I also put my owner and assorted handlers in a mass mind wipe to help facilitate my escape." The dogs share a sinister grin before Gundolf continues: "The I tossed a few scrambler grenades into their main frame for a more permanent deletion plus staging a fire drill to escape."

"You burned the hard copies?" Mikiko asks in an incredulous tone of voice. "A successful brain wipe destroys all memories that the operator wishes to delete. When done, you have no memory of what they took out and as far as the victim knows the whole thing never happened."

"So your memory is as convenient as your handlers..." Belle says with a growl. "I know a few people I'd like brain wipe to erase some of my crimes."

"I have a question." Rico ponders to which Gundolf nods for him to continue: "Do you need to be conscious for the machine to work?"

"Nope," Gundolf says plainly with a shake of his head, "Just a living mind. I've seen them brain wipe sleeping and even comatose victims to erase memories before recovery. Which is what I suspect happened to me once." Everyone gives Gun a look to which he responds with: "After the one and only time I was brain wiped consciously, the operator and her cohorts starred in an underground snuff film that's just now coming to light."

"Not Urban Savages 2!?!" Belle asks with fearfully surprised look on her face. "I stole a copy for our library after a private screening not too long ago. You were nasty in that!! I almost didn't recognize you!"

"I know," Gundolf says with a dark smirk, "Underground magazines that specialize in this sort of thing are giving it rave reviews. It's being called a landmark film in the genre. We ground up the bones afterward just so the evidence was properly taken care of."

"And what happened to the dust?" Mikiko asks.

Gundolf chuckles darkly. "We mixed it in with some concrete to make nude statues of the victims, which are now in a mausoleum in space. We actually made a nice little profit selling the statues back to their collective families."

Everyone has good laugh at that before Rico remarks: "The humans do pretty much the same to us and worse. Poetic Justice; that's what it is."

"Aye," Gundolf says with conviction as he moves to leave sick bay. "Now if you will excuse me, this tub of ours noose a movin before the authorities start asking questions. Mik, I need you to man the weapons. Belle, I want you on Comm Surf. Rico, get Jazz back on-line."

The other three nod to Gundolf's commands. Rico and Belle kiss passionately before Rico goes to work on Jasmine. In the cockpit, a rectangular room with three sealed chambers, Gundolf enters the foremost chamber with pink cats' silhouettes lighting up at random intervals. Mikiko enters the next chamber, riddled with fake bullet holes and laser burns; it is the largest of the three boxes as Gun and Mik share this when Jazz is up and running. Belle enters the last and smallest chamber, Spartan white; she decorated the inside but not the out. While Gundolf converses with Lockheed to get the ship's engines up and running, Belle hacks into the Cerberus Station mainframe to get the clearance to leave.
