#7 of the great war
When the vixen finally allowed him to sleep, his sleep was wrought with nightmares of what was happening to Penna. He was happy to be waken from the nightmares when the vixen came back in.
"I bet you are wondering what has happened to your bird friend. Don't worry about her for long. The king is going to use her to force the forests to surrender and then I will kill her while you watch."
Of all of the things she could have said, of all the threats she could have made, she chose the worst to say. His mind instantly shut off all feelings. The pain and pleasure were replaced with pure rage. His fatigue was destroyed as the rage gave him strength. His breathing became heavy as he allowed the anger to take over. In a single second, he broke the bonds and then had grabbed her by the throat. Ripping off the muzzle, he let out a blood curdling roar as he crashed the vixen through the door. The guards outside of the room never stood a chance. He lunged at them like a wolf and bit through the neck of one. Before the body even hit the floor, Malual jumped on the other guards and bit his neck as well. He changed into a panther and with that change he got clothes. The guards who were supposed to replace the two he had killed showed up and one fled. The other was not so lucky. He died very quickly. He had allowed the rage to fill him and now he had no control over his body. His mind had reverted to a more primal being and he only knew that he had to kill everything in the castle no matter what. The guards had organized themselves so when he ran into them, he had to fight. He took their blows and returned them tenfold. The guards who survived fled but he caught up to them. He heard one of the guard's say he had to warn the king and that word brought a little control over him. He hated the king more than anything so he followed the man letting him lead him to the king. When he had led Malual to the king's room, he died. Malual burst into the room prepared to kill everything moving.
"STOP THIS NOW!! I WILL KILL HER IF YOU DON'T STOP!!" Mat yelled as he held Penna with a knife at her throat. Malual looked at him and then at Penna. He saw the fear in her eyes and let the anger slide away.
"Good. Guards bind him. Uggh!" Mat said as Penna kicked his balls with her foot. She pulled herself away from him and fell into Malual's arms. He cut her free and together they fled the room. They immediately found a servant and they began to question the servant. They asked where the "Incendia Pluma" was and she told them. The woman was shaking with fear as she told them the way. They followed her directions and found themselves in a large room and in the middle of the room was the "Incendia Pluma" glowing with its own power. Penna ran over and she picked it up. There was a great flash of light and when Penna opened her eyes, she saw she was not in the castle. Everywhere she looked, there were flames. A form walked towards her and when it came into view, she saw a bird cloaked in flames. Penna was looking at a phoenix! It looked at her and began to talk.
"Penna, I see that you need the power of the phoenixes."
"I do! Please help us!"
"We cannot. We are not allowed to interfere with the affairs of mortals." The phoenix said as more began to appear around it.
"But... we need you" Penna said as she began to cry.
"Stop crying child! We are not allowed to interfere with the affairs of mortals but seeing as to how you are here, you are not quite mortal. You are destined to be the next phoenix lord." The phoenix said as flames began to wrap around Penna blocking her from view. When the flames departed, Penna the hummingbird was no more. Where she had stood was a phoenix. "Penna you have a choice now. You may stay with us for eternity or you may go back to the mortal realm. You will not be able to return and you will not be immortal. The choice is yours."
"I will go back!" Penna said as she felt the power flowing through her.
"So be it. Penna, you are the phoenix lord of the mortal realm and you will never return!" the phoenix yelled as a portal of flames opened. Penna walked through it and ran right into Malual. His eyes went even wider than they were and he jumped back falling. She laughed at him and went to help him up. She easily lifted the panther off the ground by the scruff of his neck.
"You You're a a phoenix!!"
"yep."
"How? You're the phoenix lord!!"
"Yeah! I bet I am as big as you are as a dragon."
"What? Nowhere close!"
"I can change my size to fit my surroundings. I think you can do that too. I am so much stronger than I was. Malual, thanks for saving me. If it wasn't for you, I never would have reached this place." Penna said as she gave Malual a kiss. She laughed as the skin visible under the fur turned a deep red. "Have you never kissed a girl Malual?"
"Well um I um er no."
"Really? I bet you've never slept with one either!" Penna said as she grabbed the fox in a hug. He gave a squeak when she had grabbed him and since she was larger than he was, she was able to stop him from getting free. He could tell she was enjoying this as he was usually bigger than she was. ‘Maybe it's because I'm a cat right now...'
"SOUND THE ALARM!! WE ARE UNDER ATTACK!!" a guard at the gates began yelling and the cry was taken up by everyone who heard it. Malual let out a sigh of relief when Penna released him from her hug and took a moment to catch his breath. Penna and Malual looked out to see what was happening and what they saw was an army. An army of elves, dwarves, and animals were standing at the gate. There were dragons as well as humans in the massive army. They then heard an unearthly roar and they looked to see demons marching from the woods opposite the army. They watched and realized that this must be the army of Smog. The humans of the city marched along with the demons. They then saw a distortion in the area in front of the demonic army and Mat appeared with a flaming sword. More and more demons came out of those woods until the army was five times larger than the allies.
"They need us Malual!! We have to help them!"
"Let's go! And I will get you back for that" Malual yelled as he jumped out the window. Before he hit the ground, he changed back into a dragon and flew straight at the army.
"I'd like to see you try" Penna yelled as she flew out the window, right after Malual and together, phoenix and dragon let out a roar and the attack began.
