Chapter 9.5 Halloween bonus chapter
"How are you feeling," a Braixen asked as she heard her trainer set down a pair of metallic weights.
"Annoyed, I could lift ten times this without any trouble," he protested.
"Muscular atrophy is a natural side effect from not moving for a whole month," the Nurse sighed.
"At least I can still walk... sort of," Anthony laughed as he regarded his right leg.
"Fortunately your new prosthetic will be in within the week," Nurse Joy added, "so you won't have to use that rickety old thing,"
"Hey Spring's..."
"Is too short, clicks every third step, and the cup is cracked," she glared.
"Fine I'll throw it away as soon as my new one comes in," the teen relented as he flexed his shoulder.
"Good, now I do believe your session is finished so you can go back to your room, and I want you to take it easy okay,"
"Yeah, yeah I've been chastised; come on Vix let's get going," he sighed. ...
Anthony sat quietly admiring a small yet elegant painting done by his Umbreon Kris, while his Briaxen read aloud from her book; both practicing her English and brail.
"I am very impressed by this Kris, I didn't know you were so artistic," He remarked before affixing the bauble to his bag.
"Um, Umbreon," the dark type barked happily.
"She said that her dad was a Smeargle," Vix translated; pausing in her reading.
"And I and still amazed by the fact that you taught yourself Brail and English all by yourself while I was out."
"Thank you..." the fire type blushed.
"Heh, still a little bashful after I kissed you huh," the teen teased, "well regardless I am still amazed, but amazement aside I am starving when is dinner getting here."
Almost as if on cue the a knock sounded at the door.
"ah enter I'm decent... well at least I think I'm decent," he cheered.
"Not that I can see whether he's decent or not." Vix sighed.
"Either way I'm coming in," sounded a voice that did not belong to the nurse or one of her aids but to a girl with dark purple-hair and sweater that waltzed into the room.
"April? Where's Nurse Joy?" the sandy-haired teen asked.
"Oh I asked if I could bring you your food since she was busy," she shrugged as she passed out bowls of food to everyone.
"Well that was nice of you," Anthony nodded.
"Yeah well I also needed an excuse to tell ghost stories!" April laughed as her team started to infiltrate the room; carrying various, incense, candles and matches.
"Okay..."
"oh don't worry they're just to set the mood," she dismissed as she flipped off the lights, "I mean come on its not like I have a camp fire to tell these stories over."
The candles all lit with a ghostly blue light.
"Let's start with this night of terror," the girl giggled. "North of Lumiose City is an old abandoned playground, and every few nights a lone girl plays on the swing set."
Anthony jumped as an eerie squeak echoed through the dimly lit room, "okay good effects."
"Shh!" Kris hissed, her golden ring flashing angrly
"And if you ever see her late at night, look closely at her dress," the girl paused for a moment to allow a ghostly white dress to flitter into view, "for it bares the heavy stain of mud and blood!"
The dress aged before the audience a red liquid oozed from an unknown source.
"the girl was the last known victim of a murderous Gengar named Zero; some say she was controlling him to murder her parents; others say he was controlling her to find the legendary fused gengarite."
"Umbreon?" the dark type asked.
"It's a Mega stone that allows a Gengar to mega evolve all by its self..."
The bed upon Anthony sat rattled suddenly, upsetting those sitting on the plush surface.
"What the... damn it Doc get out of the bed!" the teen yelled as he smacked the mattress until the ghost stopped his hauntings with a dark giggle.
"How did you know it was him?" April asked.
"Because Spooks is right next to you, and I see Blossom's hair in the wall over there," he observed, "anyway, please continue, this story is pretty good."
"Thank you," the purple haired girl blushed; she briefly cleared her throat before she continued the tale.
"So after the murder of the girl's parents, some say Zero gained a love for killing and it wasn't long for him to gain a hunger for the girl's blood." She smiled.
"So he killed her?" Vix asked.
"No... he chased her into the swamp to where he thought was the resting place of the gengarite, for it was the stone that killed her, her spirit forever trapped within,"
"Wait if she was trapped in the stone why is her ghost at the playground." Anthony asked.
"Because Zero took the gengarite there, and buried it under the swing set, for you see the truth was she loved Zero and his murderous ways and wanted to be with him forever and the only way to become immortal is to die..."
"So he didn't want to become a Mega Gengar?"
"He did, but the people of Lumiose city discovered his murderous side and drove him away, so he wanders the world searching for those who banished him so he may return to claim the stone and his love." April grinned evilly; the dim light failing as each candle was snuffed out, "he may visit us tonight seeking to quench his thirst for murder..."
Several shrieks sounded in the room as a pair of red eyes opened; glowing in the pitch black room as a dark and evil laugh sounded.
"Okay I am officially creeped out," the teen pailed.
"Creeped out!?" the eyes balked.
"April I'm sorry but I don't scare easily," he laughed, "but how are you doing that?"
"Iridescent Gengar eyes..." she huffed as the candles sputtered back to life, revealing the girl holding a pair Halloween props.
"Well you managed to scare just about everyone else in the room, so I think it was sufficiently scary,"
"Well I was trying to..."
"I had fun just the same, thank you," Anthony chuckled. April was just about to respond when the door flew open where a huge hairy beast stood before a brilliant light.
"Holy SHIT!" the teen jumped.
"Ampharos!" the silhouette greeted cheerfully
"D... Denryu?" Anthony asked wide eyed.
"Amp!" the Electric dragon chirped allowing his tail light to dim down.
"Ha, ha gets them every time," Tony laughed as he entered the room with his Ampharous and Meowstic.
"And you don't scare easily," Vix jabbed. ...
