#3 of Great Sea Chronicles

Long after a ten year war ravaged the seas, the various islands of the Great Sea start to rebuild, but a new evil lurks in the shadows...

Fire licked the streets and buildings, people running to boats to escape the raging fire, and the beasts that followed, a large feral beast stood behind these creatures, roaring with bloodlust as it lead its army through the streets, swords raised against the people before slashing down upon them...

Suddenly Marie woke with a start, still on the windmill she slept on last night, rubbing her head, she got up and glided down to the road below her and walked to the local pub, which during the day time was just a simple diner.

There should be a thing about a bird like species ordering eggs, but that concern has long since passed Marie as she slowly ate her eggs, every time she had that strange dream, she always woke with a major headache.

Moxx walked into the pub and ordered rock fish and sat down across Marie, "Long night my friend?"

"You can say that...just had the same weird dream is all, it'll pass." Marie said with a groan, drinking her apple juice slowly before sighing softly.

"I honestly think you should visit Shaman Cross and tell him of these dreams." Moxx said with concern.

"You know I can't just go back to Dragon Roost..." Marie said with a frown, looking outside at the ocean, ten years ago she had joined the war effort as something called a Merchant Runner, someone who delivered supplies to war ravaged islands, and to her people, was a huge disgrace in the eyes of the Chieften, now the Rito tribe still helped in the war, but they were never soldiers, which Marie eventually joined.

Moxx reached out and patted Marie's hand in comfort, he knew full well how painful it had been for her to have been kicked out of her home.

"It wouldn't hurt to send a message to him to come here."

Marie nodded and sighed, "Its probably nothing but flashbacks from the war, they come and go from time to time." Marie played with her hair out of habit, she didn't like to think to much on the war, it had ended and that was that, all she needed to worry about now was to help people rebuild.

"How are we on supplies aboard the Argus?" Marie asked, changing subject.

"We should be good for atleast a month long voyage if we decide to take one," Moxx said, "Where do you plan on heading?"

"Not quite sure yet...was thinking of heading to Outset Island and meeting back up with Malon...hmm." Marie rubbed at her chin, deep in thought, if they left and went to Outset Island, it would take longer then a month to get there.

"I guess we could also stop by at the Twilight Kingdom to restock, then head to Outset Island." Marie said with a smile, "Would give us an excuse to by us some Twili Spices." Marie didn't often smoke the stuff, but the stuff was a natural muscle relaxer that the Twili usually smoked, it differed from species to species.

Moxx grinned, "Been awhile since I've tried the stuff, I think I was fourty when I did that, and we all know that's young for a Goron such as myself." He said with a heartfelt laugh, patting at his chest as most Gorons did to show off bravado, Moxx usually did it out of pride for his people, he too hadn't set foot on his homeland in a long time.

Meanwhile back at the docks Alicia was off duty for the day and decided to head up to her house, it was a long walk towards the very top of the islands hilly surface, but it was a walk she enjoyed none the less.

Alicia unlike most Twili didn't mind the sun all that much, nor did she use any of her magic to cast a constant twilight around her to comfort her, although on occasion she did in the comfort of her home.

Stepping to the front door of her house, Alicia walked in with a happy sigh, her home interior wasn't fancy like most of her species would do, it was just a simple wood cabin out in a small forest like area on Windfall, one of many patches of forests on the island and she had laid claim to one, it was far away from the town, which didn't mean she hated people, just didn't like buildings obstructing her view of the ocean, something she cherished a lot.

Walking into her home though, a girl ran up to her and yelled, "Mommy!" arms outstretched and looking to Alicia to pick her up before the little girl disappeared, causing Alicia to tear up and sit down on the floor, "No...not again...I'm sorry." She muttered to herself, shivering in fear.

After a few minutes of breathing though, she got up and sat in her chair and sighed, wiping the tears away.

Alicia sat up in her chair and took out her book, besides the ocean, she simply loved to read, especially when her nerves were shot. As she started to read however, she noticed a cloaked figure sitting on her bed, one she always noticed for awhile.

"What are you doing in my house?" Alicia asked

The cloaked figure looked at her with its porcelain mask, which morphed into a smile, "Only to see what you're up to deary, its been quite awhile since we've had a nice talk."

"I've been busy, what is it you want Bartholomew?"

Bartholomew gasped softly, "My dear, I've never once heard you call me by my name, this must be a special occasion."

Alicia glared at Bartholomew, "No, I never referred you by name because I'm the only one who can see you."

Bartholomew made a soft Tsk noise while shaking his head, "I don't like others to see me...call me shy." He said with a playful smile, "Anyways, I know how lonely you've been so I decided to pay you a visit." Bartholomew giggled softly and glided closer to Alicia, his masked face close to hers, she could feel his cold breath against her cheek as she heard him sniff her hair.

"I like being alone...." Alicia shivered softly, her hair standing on end, she simply hated when he did that.

"Then I'll leave you to it...but be careful when going out at night." Bartholomew said before disappearing.

Alicia sighed with relief, "Thank the gods..." She said softly before going back to her book.

Marie walked through the town, browsing the various wares everyone was selling, it wouldn't be to long before she had to leave the island once again, so she spent most of her time looking at different objects that peaked her interest. Various foods were laid about, some looked appealing like the Fried Gyorg or the unappealing like the Sand Worm Stew, if they can cook it, they will.

While walking around, she wasn't paying attention to where she was going and ended up bumping into a Twili, the person being Alicia herself, deciding to go into town to shop, only to lose her basket in the proceeding moment.

"Oh crap, I'm sorry, are you alright?" Marie said, helping Alicia pick up her apples.

"I...I'm fine." Alicia said softly, she didn't really like when people touched her, but at the time, she too hadn't been paying attention, still distracted by what Bartholomew had said.

Marie finished helping her out with a smile and stood up, "You distracted too?" She said with a soft giggle, holding out her hand, "The name's Marie and I owe you a drink."

Alicia nervously held out her hand and shook Maries, "Alicia...Alicia Labile." She said with a gentle smile, she had to be polite after all.

Marie smiled at Alicia, she felt awkward at the same time because Alicia was technically the first Twili she had ever spoken to, the ones on her ship were either silent or spoke in there own native tongue, so it was hard for her to actually speak to any of them.

Alicia blinked and let go of Maries hand, "I..I think I'd like that drink now." She said, catching a glimpse of Bartholomew over Maries shoulder before focusing back on the Rito women.

Suddenly off in the distance, a distance boom, followed by a clack was heard, causing Marie to look out at where the sound had come from, two booms followed the other before loud whistles could be heard...then all of a sudden a windmill and two other buildings exploded in a shower of flames as something struck them.

Alicia gasped and covered her mouth, It had already begun...
