A request I did for someone on FA

The hunter traversed through the forest, carrying a baby in one arm and holding the hand of a little girl in the other. In the distance he could hear screams of villagers and smell the smoke of their burning homes. Worse was the sound of mailed feet on the ground close by, the footfalls of those same marauders that had attacked the village.

The hunter turned his head. Upon seeing dark shapes behind him, he increased his pace. He couldn't really run with his current companions, but neither was he willing to leave them behind. He had seen the little girl's mother cut down by one of the marauders while she yet carried her newest born child. She died lying next down to a fallen man whom the hunter had assumed was their father. At the time of the mother's death, the hunter had been fleeing with no regards for others. He was a loner of the village, oftentimes spending more time hunting or traveling elsewhere. However, the sight of the marauder's butchery and its advance on the wailing young girl who had just seen her mother die brought him to action. The marauder's wore heavy armor that covered every part of their strange humanlike but human forms. The only weakness in their armor was a slit where the hunter assumed their heads were. Thus, it was at this meager opening that the hunter had loosed his arrow. He had been fortunate to hit his mark and from there he had dropped his weapon, scooped up the baby, taken the girl's hand, and fled into the forest.

Normally he would have been reluctant to enter this forest in particular, for it was Fey-ridden and haunted. He had never been quite sure why a village had been built so close to such an unfriendly place, but most villagers seemed to believe it actually served to protect them in some ways even if some fools had disappeared over the years in the place. Today the hunter truly hoped that the forest would protect him and the children that accompanied him or at least not hinder them. He was confident in his woodcraft, but often such skills were useless in woods that did not quite follow the rules.

The hunter felt a tug at his arm. He looked down and into the little girl's eyes. The sight of her dirty, tear-streaked face saddened the hunter.

"Where's mommy?" she asked, far too loud in the hunter's opinion. "Where's mommy?"

The hunter was not sure how to respond. He merely shook his head and continued on, or at least tried to. Instead, the girl stopped, causing him to drag her for the few steps he took before realizing why he was moving much slower. He looked down at her again.

"We've got to keep moving," he said. "Come on."

"I'm tired," the girl wailed. "And I want mommy."

The hunter sighed and took a moment to listen. Strangely, the echo of bloodshed and pursuit was gone and the only sound he could hear was silence. Though he was not entirely comfortable with the quiet, it at least meant they were safe from the marauders for now. He glanced around their surroundings and founds all that there was were trees, trees everywhere. Not entirely helpful, but at the least something he and the girl could lean up against.

"Fine," he said to the girl. "We'll rest."

He sat up against a tree, still holding tightly onto the baby. He looked down at her. Right now she slept soundly despite what had just occurred. He wondered what he was to do with her and her sister once he had reached safety. He knew there were villages on the other side of the forest. What he didn't know was if anyone in them would be willing to take two orphans. He very well couldn't take care of them for he was a solitary hunter after all.

"Mommy," the girl sniffed.

The hunter shifted his gaze over to the girl. She wandered away from him. He shook his head--he had thought she had said she was tired.

"Hey," he called. "Don't go out of my sight."

The girl didn't seem to mind him as she walked over to a tree. She seemed to be particularly interested in something near the bottom that the hunter couldn't quite see. He got to his feet just as she reached down and picked something up. She turned to him, a slight smile appearing on her face before it shifted to the sorrow of loss as before. She walked towards him, whatever she carried still concealed between her two fists. When she stood before the hunter, he asked:

"What did you find?"

The girl opened her hands, revealing a shining silver bracelet.

"Jewelwy, like mommy wears," she said and then held it out to him.

The hunter raised an eyebrow. He stooped down and took the bracelet. He held it up to his eye. It seemed like a normal piece except...except he felt compelled to wear it. Without even thinking, he fit the silver loop over his left arm to wear it was nearly at his elbow. Then, realizing what he had just done, he tried to shake it off. Surely it had to be enchanted which meant--

He cried out in surprise as a sort of warmth spread throughout his body. He felt something growing out of his spine and pushing against the back of his linen tunic. More disturbing were the silver scales that he could see on the fringe of his vision forming on his skin. He bent down and gingerly put the baby down just before his cranium began to shift. He brought his now considerably more clawlike hands to his face as it pushed out into a reptilian muzzle. Closing his eyes, he shivered as his hair fell off of his body and more and more scales overtook his skin. His feet cracked in a strangely painless way, the toes growing into sharp claws while the joints in his legs bent to adapt to digitigrade walking. He opened his now blue reptilian eyes and felt his new smooth scaled cranium--strange new muzzle, sharp and pointed teeth, some surprising finlike protrusions on either side, and hard ridges at the top of his head before the muzzle sloped down. Suddenly, he doubled over as the pressure near his spine was joined by pressure higher up. A moment later, a pair of wings and a tail burst out of his back. The tail thickened as it grew longer and longer till it was large enough to properly compensate for his new stance.

Breathing heavily, the hunter glanced back at his new limbs. He couldn't completely comprehend why he was now some sort of silver-scaled humanoid dragon. Before he could ponder this further, he felt new pressure again, this time on his upper chest and...down below. He squirmed uncomfortably as his genitals drew inwards and pushed against his tight crotch. He was simultaneously relieved and horrified when they retreated inwards into a slick, new passage. The hunter shivered as he felt his groin churn as new organs formed and others rearranged themselves. With a squelch, fresh lips took the place of where his manhood once was, leaving him a she. She barely had a second to realize this before the pressure in her chest increased and then unexpectedly there was relief. She looked to her chest and panicked at the sight of two growing lumps that continued to develop until they were a decent sized pair of scaled, sensitive breasts. Surprisingly, her abused and torn tunic remained on her changed frame. Still, from her vantage point she could see her new assets fully and she was not quite sure she was happy about them. She was not given a choice as a sudden heat erupted in her new sex, overloading her mind with the thought of mating, especially with a strong male of her type--a confusing prospect given that she had never seen such an individual before. Still, she would love to engage in the act of propagation and to bear children--

"Dwagon?" she heard a small voice call out, reminding her that there were already children about. She looked down at the small girl and remembered her situation.

"Dwagon?" the small girl repeated, tears flowing down her face. "Where's mommy?"

The dragoness stepped towards the girl, feeling a strong urge to comfort her. She bent down and embraced the girl. The girl returned the hug, pressing her head into the dragoness's chest.

"Mommy is..." the dragoness paused. "Mommy is gone, but I'm here now. I'll protect you. You're going to be safe with me."

The silver band on the dragoness's arm glowed briefly. The girl's form shifted and changed until she was a dragon in the same sort of way as the one embracing her, though of course still younger and thus less developed in many areas, including her lack of wings. The new dragon child sniffed and looked up at the dragoness with new love. The dragoness returned the gaze.

A wail brought the dragoness's attention to a squirming baby lying upon the ground. She relinquished her grip of the girl and started to walk over to the baby. On the way, the bracelet glowed for one time more, causing her body to change again. Her breasts swelled, the nipples and areolas darkening as her mammaries filled so that they were heavy and swollen with milk. Her shoulders narrowed while her hips widened to childbearing proportions. Then, her nethers became flush as the flow of new female hormones increased to an unprecedented rate. As she bent down and picked up the baby, she knew she was ready for motherhood. She pulled down her tattered shirt just the slightest bit so the hungry baby could suckle. The dragoness smiled as they baby fed, unnoticing as but a small patch of scales grew upon the infant's cheeks.

"Little one," she called out to the girl, her voice now higher pitched. "What is your name?"

"Esma," the dragon child answered.

"And your sister?"

"Junine."

"Esma, come here."

The girl did so. The dragoness laid her hand over her and drew her in close. She listened, but again could only hear silence that she now took as a good sign.

"Esma," she said. "You and Junine are going to be fine. We're going to find a new home, one far away from here. We'll be a new family. I'll be mommy."

The girl looked up with a smile on her draconic face. The dragoness ruffled her head affectionately. She was mommy now, which meant it was probably a good idea to find daddy too. She knew he might not be in the first village they came across or even the next, but he was out there somewhere. That could wait for later, however. She had to put the children first, just as when she always had.
