Folcwine and S'fara chatted happily as they walked the road to Whiterun

'I like it, it's something every true Nord should aspire to wear!'

'What? A dead bear?' scoffed S'fara

'It's the uniform of an officer in the Stormcloak army! And you call it a "dead bear"?' retorted Folcwine

'That's close enough!' called a gruff voice

They looked around and saw a rag-tag group of bandits coming towards them.

'Look, trust me, you don't want to fight us. Just stand aside, and we'll let you live.' Folcwine called, hoping to forestall what he knew was coming

'Wrong answer!'replied a Redguard woman charging for him

With a shrug, Folcwine drew his sword, took a deep breath and released his battle cry, which made the Bandits falter. But they were clearly either desperate, brave or stupid as they quickly resumed the attack.

Soon they had beaten all but two.

'Take that!' Folcwine growled as he bashed a fellow Nord in the face with his shield

From his left he heard 'You'll make a fine rug, cat!'

In the brief time he had to spare, he glanced over to see a huge Orc bearing down on S'fara and his only thought was to go to her aid.

'Talos smite you!' he yelled as he slashed across his own opponents throat to spill his life-essence

He spun a quarter turn to aid S'fara just in time to see her duck under the Orcs' clumsy blow, and strike snake-fast and run her blade clean through him.

'Wow, that was impressive! I was just about to help you.' they said at almost the same time before bursting into laughter

Folcwine's laughter was cut short by an arrow thudding into his chest

'What the?' he wondered aloud before feeling a burning sensation spreading from the wound

He sank to his knees in agony, and the last he saw as he lost consciousness was S'fara drawing her bow.

He awoke sometime later, to find her kneeling over him, dabbing his forehead with a damp cloth.

'Where am I and what happened?' he asked

'You're in our tent, and they had a wood elf, hidden up in the rocks above. He shot you with a poison arrow. I took care of him.' she added darkly

'S'fara, you... you saved my life.'

'It's what I'm here for.'

'I love you.' Folcwine murmured before sinking back into sleep, leaving a very confused S'fara

When Folcwine awoke the next morning, he saw that S'fara had dressed his wound, and as he got up he felt a twinge of pain. Neither of them were very good at using magic, and healing potions could only do so much.

'Hey sleepyhead, awake at last I see!' S'fara greeted him as casually as ever

Just the sight of her brought the memory of his confession to his mind

'Listen, S'fara... about last night, what I said.' he began

'Don't worry about it, I understand you were delirious, and grateful. No need to explain further. Now, do you want breakfast?'

'I meant it.' Folcwine said plainly

'I..what?'

'S'fara, I meant it. I do love you.' he repeated earnestly

'Come on now, stop tugging my tail.' she replied, tail swishing

'You silly cat, I'm serious.' he replied

'Don't you call me a cat you -'

Exactly what she was going to call him is unknown because she was silenced by Folcwine rather forcefully kissing her. She resisted for the merest of moments before returning the kiss.
