#21 of Malakye's Story - Part 2 (A New Dawn)

HI-HO! I was planning on posting this on Thursday, but as you know that was impossible since there was that attack that had most of the main furry sites down for like 3-4 days. But everything seems to be back up and running now.

Anyway, this is a side chapter featuring Tristen and Roxis as they enjoy the Festival of Lunas after Malakye won the competition earlier. The events in this story transpire during the previous chapter (Ch18) of 'A New Dawn'

You may notice that this is written in the 3rd person rather than 1st person like the story. This is deliberate, mostly since the main story is from Malakye's POV, and well he doesn't really remember much of this so yeah... kind of a shame really. Two drunken, musuclar stud muffins like Jason and Michael fawning over you... yeah... I would want to remember that! ^_^

I do not have a proof reader so please let me know via note if there are any glaring (or small) mistakes so that I can fix them. And as always, constructive cristisim is welcome!

********************** SIDE STORY TRISTEN & ROXIS **********************

"Look its Tanisha!" Tristen exclaimed, pointing out a dragoness from the crowd. She was busy flirting with a few warriors. "She's so hot!"

"She's a slut!" Roxis countered. "She sleeps with anyone, even though she's married. Just because her husband goes away for days at a time trading with the other villages."

"She has needs, so what if she sleeps around? No one gets hurt." Tristen said, his eyes locked firmly on the ample bust of the scantily clad dragoness.

"I'll remind you of that when whatever unlucky female you manage to bag starts sleeping around because you can't satisfy her needs!" Roxis sneered, Tristen taking offence at the comment and punched Roxis in the arm.

"At least I'll get a girl! And she will be well satisfied!" Tristen bragged, thrusting his hips to emphasise his sexual prowess despite the lack of practise. "You'll probably be a virgin all your life!" He teased.

Roxis had finally had enough of being called a virgin when Tristen was no better. He scowled and snarled before launching himself at Tristen. Tristen backed away, narrowly avoiding Roxis but Roxis was not going to let him get away with it that easily. At that point Malakye stepped between them, stopping what could have easily become a brawl. Even with Malakye between them they stared each other down, not willing to back down from one another.

"That's enough you two!" Malakye yelled.

They both huffed and turned their back to each other, not wanting to look at each other. This was not unusual behaviour for them, they fought with each other like this all the time, this would also not be the first time they would have come to blows.

"I'm not going to spend the rest of the day putting up with you two bickering! So you are going to say sorry!" Malakye ordered.

Both Tristen and Roxis snorted. They would have to do this, Malakye won the bet earlier and now they had to do what he told them to, or they would risk tarnishing their honour. They had been taught that a warriors word and honour were their most valuable commodity. If a warrior broke their word then they were worse that scum. And warriors deemed to be without honour were often treated as outcasts and loners among the other warriors, sometimes even among society.

"Then you're going to kiss and make up!"

That got their attention. Both of them stared at Malakye for a moment hoping that he was speaking figuratively, but Malakye's stern look told them that he was being serious. Tristen took the idea the hardest, he didn't like males in that way. Plus it was Roxis! Why him of all dragons?!

Roxis on the other hand seemed to withdraw, his gaze firmly locked on his foot-paws. Roxis felt flustered at the very idea of kissing Tristen. The guy just infuriated him so badly! He was so crude and out spoken about his sexual desires, and always calling him a virgin as if it was a terrible thing. He just wanted to save himself for someone special, be they male or female. Did his first kiss really have to be with him?

"Well?!?" Malakye said impatiently.

They both slowly looked at each other before averting their eyes. As much as it pained them they were going to have to do this.

"Sorry..." Roxis mumbled.

"Yeah... me too..." Tristen mumbled.

They hesitated for a few moments before moving closer together. They were really going to do this, here in front of dozens of dragons. Both of them felt embarrassed and anxious. They slowly moved closer together, both of them could feel their hearts pounding in the chests.

Both Roxis and Tristen felt their faces flush with embarrassment, their hearts beat a little faster and they both felt a pleasant tingle in their nether regions. They were momentarily distracted by the sensations that they only realised they were still kissing one another when someone wolf whistled at them.

They broke apart quickly and couldn't look at each other, both of their faces red hot with embarrassment. But truthfully they weren't as embarrassed as many thought they were. They were surprised at how much they had each enjoyed the kiss; as fleeting as it may have been.

"Are we all friends again?" Malakye asked.

"Yeah..." They both replied glumly, both of them trying to forget what had just happened.

In silence they headed back towards the marketplace, lured by the cheerful melody being played by the band. When they got there Kaldor was just about to give his traditional speech as the leader of the village. After the speech Malakye ordered Tristen and Roxis to dance together, after some groans of resignation they moved to the dance floor. Their dance was clumsy and uncoordinated, nearly crashing into other couples as they both fought to take the lead.

"Stop it and let me lead!" Tristen snarled quietly at his dance partner.

"Fuck you! I'm the better dancer, I should lead!"

"Yeah well, I'm bigger than you!"

"What does that have to do with anything!?" Roxis snarled.

"Just saying!"

"Fine!" Roxis relented. He would let Tristen lead, it was a waste of energy arguing with the bull headed dragon.

After that their dancing went smoothly, they moved as one with the crowd. And after a while both of them forgot about the fact they were dancing with each other and just enjoyed the moment. On a particularly slow dance Roxis lay his head against Tristen's chest, and listened to the rythmic sound of his heart beat. He noticed when Tristen's heart beat sped up. He looked up at Tristen just in time to see the bigger dragon avert his gaze and look some what bashful.

Tristen cursed himself, making a point of looking away from Roxis and tried to ignore the feeling welling up inside of him. He had never felt aroused by another male before, never, and the sensation confused him. Why was he feeling this way, and about Roxis of all males?

Roxis wondered why Tristen had looked away, but his curiosity was soon answered when he smelt the arousal that began to come off his dance partner. He dismissed the thought that Tristen's arousal was aimed at him, expecting the taller dragon to have seen a glimpse of some females breasts. But the thoughts kept coming back, and suddenly he began to imagine himself with Tristen and no matter how hard he tried to push the idea from his mind, it wouldn't go away.

Roxis knew he preferred males to females, he hadn't admitted as such to anyone. But he had never ever thought of Tristen in that way. Why would he? He made him so angry sometimes he just wanted to scream. But looking up at him now, Roxis realised that he was actually quite handsome.

While both of them fought against their emotions they just continued to dance, lost in rytheme of the music and lost in the tide of other dancers, while simultaneously being lost in their thoughts. As time rolled by Roxis decided to put these thoughts to rest once and for all. He expected Tristen to turn him down, make fun of him and maybe even hit him. But he couldn't go on with these thoughts, it was just too frustrating. When the dance ended he pulled Tristen aside, pulling him down into one of the unoccupied tunnels off the market place.

Tristen was confused to say the least. He had never seen Roxis like this, he looked so flustered, pacing back and forth as he tried to form the words he wanted to say. Tristen was a little surprised when he thought Roxis looked cute when he was worried like that. The way his brow furrowed and the way he moved restlessly.

"T, look I know this is going to sound crazy... oh god I can't believe I'm going to say this to you!" Roxis mumbled but steeled his resolve. He couldn't live with this uncertainty. "I like you..."

"Like me? As in..."

"Like you... like you." Roxis confirmed, averting his eyes to the side and blushed. He closed his eyes and waited, waited to hear the sound of rejection, waited for Tristen's punch him in the muzzle.

"Uh... I..." Tristen paused, unsure if he was actually believing what he was hearing.

"Just say it already! Just say you hate me and you never want to talk to me again!" Roxis begged, tears forming in the corner of his eyes.

"Well... I guess I kind of... like you too... a little..."

"UH????" Roxis opened his eyes and stared at Tristen as if he had just grown an extra head, his mouth agape. "You mean..."

"Shut up!" Tristen said before pulling Roxis into a kiss.

Their muzzles met in another kiss, this time their maws open, their tongues meeting. Roxis was taken by surprise but quickly melted into the kiss. They stood there for several minutes, kissing, not caring if anyone walked by and saw them. Both of them hard, their pants bulging from their arousals.

Neither one could believe how right this felt, considering who they were with, but they didn't want to fight it any more. Suddenly all those years of fighting with each other didn't matter, it had been no more than both of them masking their feeling for the other. But now they could move past the childish fighting and both of them begin to explore their feelings. But first they had something more important to do.

"Come on." Tristen insisted, pulling Roxis by the wrist.

"Where are we going?"

"Where do you think?" Tristen grinned, Roxis immediately realising when. They were going to the abandoned mines, to become men.
