Chapter Four: Falsely Accused

POV: Sid

I walked into my classroom with my fellow classmates and sat at the first desk I saw, right at the front of the room. I placed my backpack beside me and glanced at my wristwatch. It was half past nine, and Cody hadn't arrived at school yet.

'Wonder what's keeping him.' I thought to myself as I reached into my backpack. I searched through my pack until I found my history book.

"Good morning class." The teacher entered, shutting the door behind him. I pulled out a pen and threw the book on my desk. The teacher leant against the chalkboard and glanced at us. "For those of you who don't know me, my name is Mr Felsker." He said, writing his name on the board. He glanced at us and noticed me, sitting in the front. He approached my desk and smiled at me.

"You must be Sid." He said. "Welcome to history." I looked up at him. I could tell that he was a great teacher, just from his attitude. I immediately smiled back and watched him walk back over to the board. "Okay, this should be a no-brainer. I will be confiscating any electronic devices that you are using during class, understood?" He took another look at me.

The class remained silent. "I thought so." He turned back to the board. "Now, back onto the topic we were speaking about on Friday." He grabbed a piece of chalk, before glancing back at me. "I know your new, but try to keep up with us." He added, before turning back around. I just rolled my eyes and glanced at the door.

I noticed somebody behind the door, through the window. It was Cody. I breathed a sigh of relief as he knocked, alerting the teacher of his presence. "Ah, Mr Ray. What a pleasure." He opened the door. "Take your usual seat." He pointed to the seat beside me and turned back to the board. Cody smiled at me and sat beside me.

"What's up?" He asked, pulling out his history book.

"The ceiling." I replied, in a bored tone.

"Very funny. But seriously, how's it going?" He faked a slight chuckle.

"I'm fine. Though my shoulder still hurts from yesterday." I rubbed my right shoulder and glanced at him. "I really took a pounding." I added, looking down at my book.

"I'm sorry man, I wish I could've done something to stop him from hurting you." He apologized.

I smiled at him and glanced back at the teacher, who was facing us at the moment. "Okay class, let's just get straight down the business. Last time, we were talking about the Aztecs, and their involvement in history." Mr Felsker began. He looked over the class.

"Alright, just to see if you were listening before. Where in the world were the Aztecs located?" The teacher asked, glancing at a world map that was against the wall. I immediately put my hand up. He looked at me with a confused expression. "You know?" He asked.

"Where Mexico city is now." I said, pointing to the map. "The town that they lived in was originally built around Lake Texicoco. That's where-..." He folded his arms. "Look kid, you weren't here last lesson, let someone else have a turn." He chuckled, before pointing to someone else.

"Jake! Do you have an answer?" He asked, in a confident tone.

Cody playfully punched me in the shoulder. "You're a real smartass, eh?" He chuckled. "You'll definitely fit in here." He added. "There's a lot of them here." He pointed to a few kids in the classroom.

"What about yourself?" I asked, glancing back at the front of the room.

"Hilarious." He rolled his eyes and looked back at the teacher.

"Why were you so late today?" I asked. "You were supposed to meet me outside the school at twenty to eight." I added, tapping my wristwatch.

"S-sorry man. I was a little caught up this morning." He apologized.

"It's fine man. I was just curious." I shrugged. "You don't have to explain man, I'm not really a morning person either." I chuckled.

"To be honest, I don't think anybody is." He said, his voice dying down. There was a knock at the door and one of the staff entered the classroom. "Why'd you go all quiet?" I asked. He didn't respond, he just let out a small sigh and turned away from me.

"Cody Ray Simmons and Sid Phillips." The teacher called out our names. "Office." He said, handing a slip of paper to both of us.

"What for?" I asked.

"It's probably about yesterday." Cody glanced at the slip of paper. "Come on, let's go." He stood up and threw his backpack over his shoulder. "The sooner we get this done, the sooner we get back to class." He added, walking over to the door.

"That won't be soon enough." I muttered, grabbing my backpack and following him outside the classroom. "Where's the office?" I asked, catching up to him.

"It's at the front of the school." Cody replied. He was focused on the slip of paper we'd been given. "What's written on that that has you so enthralled?" I asked, glancing over his shoulder as we walked.

"Nothing, it just has a few more names on here." He answered. "Trevor, Hawk, Craig, Daniel..." He read. "They're all in Trevor's club, or whatever they are." He added, glancing at me with a sympathetic look. "I hope you don't get in trouble or anything." He said, turning a corner.

"We won't, neither of us will. It was self-defence." I shrugged.

Eventually, we arrived at the office. We were directed into the principal's office. Both of us were standing outside the door. "How long do we have to wait?" I asked.

"Shouldn't be too long." Cody responded, taking a quick look at me.

The door of the principal's office swung open suddenly, and four people passed through. "Trevor." Cody muttered. None of them responded and just walked through the office and into the hallways.

"Cody, Sid. Come on in." I heard someone say. I followed Cody into the room and sat on one of the chairs. The wall was covered with pictures of previous achievements, events, awards and other important things. I glanced at Cody, who sat beside me and at the desk in front of us.

"Now Cody, what have you got yourself into?" A rat asked. The rat was wearing a brown tuxedo, with his name; Principal Schneider, printed on the front left pocket of the tuxedo. "It seems you and your friend here, have started some trouble." The rat added.

"But sir, we weren't doing anything." Cody quickly defended us.

"You weren't there when Sid punched Trevor." The principal turned and glared at me. "Isn't that right Sid?" He asked, a slight grin appearing on his face.

"You punched him?" Cody asked, glancing at me with a confused face.

"No! He refused to fight him." I shouted.

"Calm down, Sid. We've got four witnesses who saw the whole thing." The principal shook his head. "Sid, you are serving detention for three days." He quickly said.

"Wha..." "And as for you." The principal pointed accusingly at Cody. "If you cause any more trouble." He glanced back at me.

"Sir! I didn't punch anyone!" I shouted, slamming my paws on his desk.

"Just leave! Your detention will be at lunch time. For the entire duration of lunch." The principal explained. "If you do not show up, then you will be suspended." The principal warned.

"What!? What for!?" I shouted again. "I didn't touch him! He punched me!" I added.

Cody folded his arms and looked down at the ground. "Then explain why Trevor has a bruise on his neck." The principal slyly grinned. "Sir, I punched him, not Sid. Come on sir, you seriously can't believe this bull." Cody stood up for me.

"Just get out." He pointed to the door. I grabbed my backpack and quickly left the principal's office. Cody soon followed me. "God! What an asshole!" I exclaimed. The bell rung and students began pouring into the hallways.

"At least you'll be serving detention alone." Cody shrugged.

"Good point." I agreed. Cody and I pushed our way through the clusters of students towards our next class.

Only a few hours later, I arrived in the room I was told to go to serve my detention. I pushed through the door and entered the room. There was no teacher, and only one other person was sitting in the room; Trevor. He grinned at me as I entered. It was extremely unsettling, the way his eyes followed me as I trudged to the back of the classroom and sat down on a desk.

"So? How's my favourite fag doing?" He asked me, turning around to face me. "I hope I didn't scar your life or something. That'd be much less fun than actual fighting." He added, getting up and walking over towards me. He grabbed a chair and sat beside me.

"Go away." I said, glancing over at him.

"I'm not going anywhere." He threw he backpack away and scratched the back of his neck.

"Can I ask you something?" I asked, looking over at him. "Why did you say I punched you? Cody punched you." I asked.

"Because you're much more fun to be around." He grinned at again. There was no teacher in the room, and all the windows were covered with blinds. There would be no witnesses, the perfect murder.

He was going to kill me. I knew it. I could see it in his eyes.

"Look man, can't we just be friends?" I asked, stuttering slightly. "I don't want to make an enemy, I've got my own problems." I looked away.

"Oh, you do?" He asked. "And what might they be?" He put his head on my shoulder. I pushed it away and watched him throw himself on the ground.

"Ah! Why'd you do that?" He asked, getting up off the ground.

"Why'd you throw yourself on the ground?" I asked, raising a brow.

"I didn't! You just pushed me." He stood up and approached me from behind. "I'm just kidding." He chuckled.

'What is wrong with this kid?' I thought to myself, as I glanced up at him. "Okay, you're going to do me a favour." He said, grabbing my backpack. "Meet me behind the school, just after the final bell rings. We need to talk." He explained, in a calmer tone.

He took my bag and headed for the door. "Dude, my bag!" I shouted, as he opened the door.

"Oh, this yours?" He chuckled. "Don't worry, this is just a little 'insurance' to make sure that you actually come." He explained. "Cya Gaylord!" He chuckled, before running out the door.

"Asshole." I muttered.

3:25PM

I said my final goodbye to Cody and he left. I watched him turn a corner and escape out of my view. I swallowed my courage and slowly walked to where Trevor had asked to meet me. As I walked on the grassy fields, leading to the back of the school, rain began to fall upon me. I looked up and had noticed that blankets of grey clouds had covered the sky.

'Wasn't it sunny a minute ago?' I thought to myself, as I rubbed my shoulders. 'Fuck.' I cursed. My clothes were already soaking wet. I ran across the fields and onto the cement, before turning a corner and reaching the meeting place.

"Ha! You actually came." I saw Trevor leaning against the school building. He handed over my backpack. I took it willingly and I turned to leave, but I was stopped by one of his friends. "Did you seriously think that I'd let you go so easily?" He chuckled.

He approached me. "What do you want?" I asked, looking up at him. "I just want to go home." I added.

"No, you're not leaving yet." He chuckled. "See those woods?" He asked, pointing to the left, where a national park was.

"Yes, I can. What's your point?" I answered, turning back at him.

"I just need you to do me a favour." He grinned. He clicked his fingers and two more of his friends surrounded me. Trevor crouched down and leant on one of his knees. "Will you marry me?" He asked, before bursting into laughter. Trevor quickly stood up and kneed me in the head. The sheer force of the sudden attack sent me onto the cement under me. My backpack fell beside me and one of Trevor's friends picked it up.

I could see Trevor and three of his friends surrounding me. Trevor raised his foot and raised it above my head. The last thing I remembered, was being smashed in the head with his foot and going unconscious.

POV CHANGE: CODY

After saying goodbye to Sid, I turned a corner and sat on the steps at the front of the school. I was just waiting for Sid. I don't even remember if I told him to come back to my place for the night. I'm not sure I did. I folded my arms and sat on the stairs. I was still confused about last night. I hadn't slept a wink the entire night, I was too busy thinking about Sid.

There was just something about him that made me feel...safe. I could be myself around him. I knew he wouldn't like me back, and that was to be expected. To be honest, I'm surprised his good looks hadn't attracted any attention from any of the girls in the school.

I was scared. I didn't know why, but I knew I was scared. Was I scared at the possible risk of him finding out? What if he did find out, and hated me forever? I didn't know what to think.

I pulled out my phone from my pocket and checked the time. It was ten to four. I had been sitting on the stairs for twenty minutes, and I hadn't even realised.

'What's he doing?' I thought to myself. I got off the step and thought for a second. 'I guess I could go check on him and ask if he wants to hang out another night.' I thought. I walked around the side of the school and into the rain. I put my paws into my pockets of my hoodie, keeping them warm. I picked up the pace.

My gut was telling me that something wasn't right, and my gut has never been wrong before. I looked around for a second studying my surroundings. 'What was Sid doing back here?' I asked. I was beginning to shiver. I never did like the rain, and this day was certainly no exception. I arrived behind the school and glanced around. I approached the back entrance of the building and noticed something on the ground.

'This is blood.' I thought to myself, glancing at the ground. I looked around one of the corners of the building and back to the blood again. I moved back slightly, taken aback by this and accidently knocked over a trashcan. I reached down and looked into the bin that I'd just knocked over. 'This is disgusting.' I thought, picking up the trash can again. I looked into the trashcan and noticed a book laying on the top.

I grabbed the book and opened it. 'This is Sid's history book.' I thought, glancing at the blood again.

"Sid!" I shouted, to nobody in particular. "Oh fuck..." I cursed. I pulled out my phone and considered my options. "I'll just call him." I said to myself, pressing his name in the phonebook and dialing his number.

"I'm sorry, the number you are trying to call has been disconnected." A voice on the other side of the line said.

"Hello?" I asked. The phone hang up and I glanced at the screen. 'Okay...panic time.' I thought to myself, dialing triple zero.

"This is 000, what is your emergency?" A lady on the other side of the line asked.

I glanced over at the blood once again, before looking at the book I was holding in my hand.

"I think something's happened to my friend." I said, bluntly.

"Okay...I need a bit more information, sir. What is his name?" The lady asked.

"Sid Phillips." I replied.

"Age?" She asked.

"15." I answered, my panic began to slowly diminish.

"Okay...what is your name and age?" The lady asked.

"Cody Ray Simmons, and I'm 15." I answered.

"Where is your location?" She asked.

"Behind Port Dore High." I replied.

"Okay...good. I'll send a few officers to your location. Try to remain calm, they will arrive as soon as possible, sir." The lady hung up. I leant against the wall of the school and slowly fell down the wall and onto the grass.

"Please be alright..." I begged.

Yes! I know it's been a while! I apologize everybody. And I know this chapter is terrible. I'm so sorry. Anyway, feel free to comment and tell me if I'm doing alright!
