The Family He Never Had Part 7

Story by Human Kid Jet on SoFurry

, , , , ,

It's morning and as the sun is shining during the day, Kenji feels hesitant to socialize with everyone in the jungle as he doesn't know anyone but Kala and others try to encourage Kenji to socialize with everyone, dispite the fact that Kenji has admitted he's not so good with people.

It was already morning in the jungle as the sun was still high in the sky. Kenji already had five bananas and a few mouthfuls of water from his canteen which he still had water in it as he collected some more water from a waterfall. Kenji was seeing many of the gorillas in the jungle socializing or spending time together in groups, some gorillas were playing around, picking bugs out of each others fur and some were chatting away about something. He could hear some of them chatting about him but what he heard was more like what they were curious about. Kenji was watching this from a distance.

"Kenji?" came Kala's voice.

Kenji was silent as he was still watching the other gorillas doing what they're doing, it was as if he didn't hear Kala at first. Kala knew he was still stairing at the other gorillas and she had an idea to get his attention.

"Kenji, Terk's showing off her big booty." said Kala starting to giggle at the idea.

"Really?" said Kenji with a look of excitement.

"Just kidding." said Kala giggling. "Sorry, I was trying to get your attention is all."

"Sorry, I was watching what everyone else was doing." said Kenji blushing as his facial expression went to the same one he had before.

Kala could tell something was bothering Kenji and it was probably him wanting to socialize but he was nervous about it. Tarzan swung from a vine and landed next to them.

"Why not socialize with the others?" suggested Kala.

"I can't." said Kenji grimly.

"Why not? They won't bite." said Tarzan.

Kenji was silent for a moment before he spoke.

"I'm not very good with people." said Kenji feeling embarrassed to admit.

"Kenji's probably the shy type." said Kala with her first impression.

"That's not it." said Kenji feeling a bit nervous. "It's just where I'm from, when it came to meeting new people, not all of them were nice, any of them people where I'm from that were cruel to me, well, let's just say they got what they were asking for."

Tarzan and Kala seem to feel curious to what Kenji meant by that but they knew that he was afraid people would be mean to him, knowing he doesn't want to go through that again. Kala placed her hand on his shoulder.

"Tarzan can make sure no one is cruel to you." said Kala kindly.

"I manage to set things straight when ever there's a few gorillas bickering or bullying anyone or each other." said Tarzan. "You seemed to be okay when you were with Terk, Flynt and Mungo."

"Well, Terk managed to encourage me to play with her and her friends after a little chat." said Kenji explaining the difference. "Were you watching me?"

"A little." said Tarzan a little embarrassed. "I was watching from a distance."

Kenji knew that if Tarzan was watching from a distance at that time, he was just making sure he was adjusting to the jungle since he was new there, he couldn't blame him.

"Would you feel better if Terk was with you?" asked Kala curiously.

"If I do what?" came Terk's voice.

Terk showed up as she seemed to pick up on what they were chatting about, Kenji seemed to feel less nervous when Terk was around.

"Kenji's a bit nervous socializing with everyone or playing with anyone and we suggested something." said Tarzan.

"You wanted me to go with the little tike for support?" said Terk as she guessed the truth.

"Definetly." said Tarzan and Kala in unison.

Terk giggled at the idea as she knew that Kenji was more comfortable around her, she tried not to giggle but she couldn't help herself.

"Does Kenji like big and beautiful Terk?" said Terk playfully in a sing song voice.

"Do you really want an answer?" said Kenji as he blushed a bit.

"I'm only pulling your leg, kiddo. It's just kind of cute that you seem more comfortable around me." said Terk as she knew that Kenji probably didn't like the teasing.

Kenji had to agree with Terk's words, some humans may find it cute that a young human and a gorilla have a bond between each other like best friends always do.

"Besides kiddo, if anyone gives you grief, me or Tarzan will tell them what for." said Terk as she cracked her knuckles.

"Okay, but lets just make sure I don't get hurt or get into any trouble." said Kenji hopefully.

"We can try but since the jungle is unpredictable, we can't make any promises because we don't know if something will happen or not." said Terk making a point.

"That I can understand and there's no arguement there." said Kenji with a breath.

Terk lead the way and Kenji followed her, everything seemed to be doing good for starters, some of the gorillas glanced at Kenji, some of them waved and he waved back, some of the female gorillas took a notice of him and started to look like they were taken a liking to him, as if they had a crush on him.

"Do you think Terk likes Kenji?" said Tarzan to his mother Kala.

"It's possible, her behavior has shown signs but if she does like Kenji, let nature take it's course with it and we'll see how it goes. The last thing we need is to make things awkward for them." advised Kala.

"I can agree to that." said Tarzan as he followed Terk and Kenji.

Tarzan followed Terk and Kenji and kept watch. Some of the female gorillas that were admiring Kenji were probably the same age as Terk and some of them were giggling.

"He's attractive for a human." said one of the young female gorillas.

"I wouldn't mind picking bugs out of his hair." said another female gorilla.

Two other female gorillas were somewhat flirting with Kenji, one of them was kind of thin but had an athletic build while the other had a large and plump body, they walked over to Kenji, Terk and Tarzan. After they have reached them, Tarzan, Terk and Kenji stopped which the two female gorillas were trying not to giggle.

"Hey there, I'm Tika." said the thin female gorilla.

"I'm Munka." said the large female gorilla. "Are you Kenji?"

"That I am." said Kenji blushing.

Tika and Munka stopped giggling but Terk could see Kenji was a bit nervous around them and Terk decided to make sure they treated him right.

"How's your head? We heard when you were found, you got hit over the head with a coconut." asked Munka curiously.

"I've healed completely from it, although I've had worse happen to me." said Kenji as he knew they felt concerned.

"Go easy on the little guy, you two." said Terk giving the two female gorillas a heads up.

Tarzan could see Terk is trying to help Kenji fit in with everyone which he seemed to feel proud of. Kenji was starting to see they were flirting with him.

"We've heard you have a way of healing people." said Tika with a blushing grin.

"That I do, but it's complicated to why I can do that." said Kenji with a grim look.

Kenji felt someone tugging his pants on the pants leg and he looked to see it was a ten month old female baby gorilla that looked a bit big in the body but was probably just having fluffy fur.

"Hey there, baby." said Kenji as he bent down to pick her up.

Kenji picked up the baby female gorilla and started to carry her in his arms, the young baby gorilla was already reaching for his hair and was brushing her fingers through his long and flowing hair.

"I think the baby has taken a liking to you." said Tarzan looking surprised.

"Maybe the little baby would like it if she rode on my shoulders." said Kenji eagerly.

Kenji suddenly let the baby gorilla sit on his shoulders and he held onto her waist as the young baby seemed to be having fun, letting out a few excited gorilla grunts.

"Gorilla baby on my head, all day long." said Kenji in a sing song voice in swahili.

The young baby gorilla was laughing and having fun as Kenji was showing how good he was with her, it was as if he was good with baby animals or knew how to treat a baby animal the right way like a loving mother would.

"You know different languages?" said Tarzan looking surprised to know it.

"Definetly. I've learned probably over a dozen different languages or more. I can even speak the language of the monkeys." said Kenji feeling proud to admit it.

Kenji was making gorilla like sounds as if he was showing them he can speak the language of the gorilla perfectly, grunting and hooting making monkey like noises as he said to the baby gorilla in the gorilla language which would sound like he said "I see you baby gorilla, yes I do" and the young baby gorilla letting out happy grunts and hoots. Terk was amazed to see this as everyone else felt the same thing too.

"Sound like the kiddo has a way with babies." said Terk looking thrilled.

"Excuse me?" came a fully grown female gorilla's voice.

A large female gorilla came over to them and they all turned to see her, she was probably the mother of the baby gorilla.

"Ma'am, is this little one your baby?" said Kenji speaking in english.

"Yes, she sometimes wonders off but she's doing it less and less everyday." said the mother gorilla.

Kenji gave the baby gorilla back to the mother as the mother gently took her in her arms and the baby was now riding on the mother's back.

"She wasn't any trouble was she?" asked the gorilla mother.

"No ma'am, she's been a angel." said Kenji. "Although don't get mad at your baby because when it comes to babies, a gentle and soft voice from a caring mother goes a long way."

"I make sure I keep my voice at normal level but firm when I tell them what they shouldn't do which I got that from my mom." said the mother gorilla.

"That's good to know." said Kenji.

Kenji reached out to rub the baby gorilla's head and rub behind her ears which the baby seemed to like that but having her ears rubbed helped her relax.

"You seem to have a way with babies." said the mother gorilla amazed.

"You'd be surprised at what else I've learned." said Kenji kindly.

The mother gorilla smiled and both her and her baby took off to clean themselves off. Tarzan, Terk, Tika and Munka were surprised to see how good Kenji was with a baby which was amazing to see.

"How is it your good with babies?" asked Tarzan curiously.

"I may have said I wasn't good with people, I never said I wasn't good with babies." said Kenji explaining the difference.

They all agreed that he was right about what he had told them. Terk took Kenji's left hand and held it as she seemed to feel flattered about what Kenji said or feeling admiration but she seemed to have an idea on what to do for some fun.

"So Kenji, you wanna do some arm wrestling?" asked Terk curiously.

"Arm wreslting, how barbaric." said Tika annoyed.

"I didn't ask you two if you wanted to do that." said Terk sarcastically.

Terk remembers that Tika and Munka were not the kind that liked some of the things she did because she was a tomboyish gorilla but Kenji knew the fighting has to stop.

"Stop fighting, all of you." said Tarzan strictly.

"Tarzan, why not let me handle this." suggested Kenji.

Tarzan was a bit nervous about this but knew he had to at least give Kenji a chance and Kenji took a deep breath and let it out.

"Tika, Munka, you may think that what Terk does for fun is barbaric but that doesn't mean you should be judgemental about it. Terk is the way she is, you need to accept it and stop snapping at her about it. Behaving like that to anyone will not make you any friends, that's no way to get to know anyone, if we let some of the little things bother us than we won't get to know anyone which goes for everyone, even me." said Kenji as he was kindly explaining what is right and what is wrong about the way they're behaving. "Besides, judging someone like that affects them, you two wouldn't want anyone doing that to you, would you?"

Tika and Munka knew that Kenji was speaking the truth, they knew they didn't like hearing this but they seemed to not feel offended by this since Kenji was being polite about this and his tone was kind. Terk was feeling amazed that Kenji was sticking up for her when Tika and Munka were judging her.

"I guess not." said Tika and Munka agreeing with him without being annoyed.

"Tika, Munka, Terk, can you three at least try and get along and stop judging each other?" asked Kenji softly.

"Okay." said Terk, Tika and Munka in unison with a sigh.

Tika and Munka shook hands with Terk as they knew that they had to do what Kenji had said since they knew him or Tarzan will have to crack down on them all if they didn't behave or if they kept snapping at each other or fighting.

"Thanks for being cool about this, Kenji." said Tika with a sigh of relief.

"Someone once taught me you have to be cool and understanding and not yell and freak out when it comes to anything like this or personal issues." said Kenji with a sense of pride.

Tarzan seemed to be amazed at this, seeing Kenji handling this was like a miracle to him. Kenji had managed to make a few bickering gorillas stop fighting without having to resort to yelling or without a violent fight breaking out.

"How did you do that? The way you handled that without resorting to yelling and preventing a fight from breaking out. I want to know how you handled it." said Tarzan looking amazed.

"I learned it from a man in England. The man was married, had three kids and he knew how to be a perfect modelled father. Since he came from a good family, he knew how to handle kids who had problems so I learned it from him." explained Kenji.

"He's sounds like a miracle worker with people." said Tarzan.

Tarzan saw Terk and Kenji holding hands and blushed from seeing that as he looked from there and back at Kenji.

"Kenji, do you know whose hand your holding?" said Tarzan on the verge of giggling.

"Whose hand?" said Kenji at first.

Kenji looked and saw Terk was holding his hand and both of them released their hands from each other, blushing and looking in a different direction while Terk was briefly whistling nonchalantly.

"So Kenji, have you ever did any arm wrestling?" asked Terk changing the subject.

"I've heard of it, know what it is but I never done it. The people I was with that had me constantly studying didn't like anything that was considered violent or rough-housing, and they really didn't like fire." said Kenji looking embarrassed and ashamed to admit it.

"Well, they aren't here to tell you what to do, I've armed wrestled with Tarzan before and he turned out okay with it." said Terk as she was trying to understanding to him.

"Okay, just no betting and gambling." said Kenji starting to feel convinced.

"You got it, little man." said Terk as she lightly patted him on the back.

Terk knew that even though Kenji was deprived of so much fun most of his life and didn't get to experience being a kid and having fun, she knew she was going to at least try and help him experience it but since Kenji never arm wrestled, he was hoping he knew how to do it right since he saw people do it but never done it and Terk was hoping that he wouldn't get hurt doing it so she wondered if she should go easy on him.
