BZZH! BZZH! Went the alarm clock.

Moaning, I pressed the sleep button and the alarm fell silent. I turned over onto my back, and pushed the blankets off of me. I sat up then opened my eyes. I looked at the clock.

"9:50 A.M.? It was supposed to go off at 8. Lucky for me, it's Saturday, I don't have college today." I said to myself, and under my breath.

I got up from my bed, then went to my dresser, I grabbed clothing, then headed to my bathroom. I looked in the mirror. I was a Snow Fox, I had pure white fur, with green eyes, I was 20 years of age. I had a blue earring on my left ear, at the base.

The earring has been in my family for, who knows how long. My mother gave it to me on my fifth birthday. It's said to bring the wearer good luck. Do I believe it? Of course I do!

Ever since I put the earring on, I haven't gotten sick, haven't had any serious injuries, but when I did get a bad injury, it healed with amazing speed. I never took it off either.

Although the earring brings good luck, it makes me cry each time I see it. My mother died from an unknown disease a couple months after my birthday. Then after my mothers death, my father started making bad decisions, before he went out one night he rubbed my head and said, "Honey, your father has and will always love you..." He then left, then never returned. My Aunt showed up the next morning when my father didn't come back.

I asked, "Auntie? Why are you here?"

"Come here." she said, and I walked up to her, and she hugged me. "Khrysti," she continued, "Your father... died last night."

"What!?" I screamed, I began to cry. I couldn't believe it, and I didn't want to. My father... he... shot, himself. A straight bullet through the head. My Aunt began to cry along with me. My Aunt took me in, she was like a second mother to me.

I shook my head to get back into the present. I started to bath, then undressed. I always like to just soak in warm water. It was soothing, and helped me forget about what happened in the past when it came to mind. When the tub filled, I stepped in, then lied down. I breathed in the steam coming from the water.

I thought I was going to fall asleep when my phone rang. It was on the bathroom sink, and was in reaching distance. I picked it up and answered the call.

"Hello?" I said.

"Hey, Khrysti, it's James." Said The person on the other side.

"Oh, uh-" I was cut off

"Hey, you promised you'd come to the library and study with us for the upcoming exam! Liz and Drake are already here! We're waiting for you!"

"Oh sorry," I said, "I-I'm on my way now!"

"Okay, hurry up!" He said, then he hung up.

I got out of the water and drained it. I dried off with a towel I had hanging on a rack. I dressed in some nicer clothing than what I picked out. I grabbed my back pack and sprinted for the front door. Before I left, I looked around.

I lived in my parents house, my Aunt died a year ago. I didn't have much family to turn to. But, when I was in trouble, I could count on James, Liz, and Drake to help me out.

I left the house and locked the door behind me. I decided not to take my car, mostly because the library was about five blocks away. Whenever I go on walks like this, I usually carry a pocket knife, or something close to it. Even on college grounds I keep the blade close. I was... paranoid, about a lot of things. And walking around without something to defend yourself with is one of them.

I came upon the library, and looked upwards. The library had quite a few floors. Almost one floor for each genre of book. Floor one, had Graphic Novels, the second had adventure books, third floor had romance novels, and so on.

I walked up the stairs, the doorway was fairly large itself. I pushed the door open, and stepped inside.

I looked around, hoping to find someone. When I looked to the left of me, I saw an Otter, it was Liz. She had red eyes, and she was very shy. It was a miracle to even get her to speak to me. She was always quiet though. Me and her were friends at the start of kinder garden. A cat was next to here, possibly James. He flirts with every girl he see's. He had tan fur and blue eyes. Drake was across them. He was sort of a "lone wolf" in fact he IS a wolf. He has grey fur, and had one blue eye and the other red, he could be a bit irritable at times also. So it's best not to tick him off.

"James, it's obvious she doesn't want to be messed with! Leave Liz alone!" Drake said.

Liz's face turned red when he said that. Liz did have a crush on James, but she was to shy, and never had enough courage to tell him that she liked him.

"Oh, what," replied James, "so you can take her as yours?"

"You want to start something, cat?" Drake retorted.

Drake and James had a hard time getting along. Although, it seemed more like brotherly hate to me. Like how to siblings would fight with each other over something, like the last scoop of ice scream, or the toy from a cereal box.

I walked up to them, and sat down.

"About time!" Drake said.

"Drake, don't be rude!" James said. "Khrysti what took so long getting here?"

I remained silent.

"It doesn't matter," Drake said, "let's just get this done."

We decided to stay at the library until 1'o clock.

"Hey, why don't we go get something to eat?" suggested Drake, "I'll drive."

"I don't see anything wrong with it." I said. "James? Liz?"

Liz nodded and James agreed bitterly.
