Runaway Experiment: Part 2 - Beachside Beast
The sun was still low in the sky, but already its morning rays lit up the cluster of tropical islands in the Pacific Ocean. The skies were clear except for a stray white cloud here and there, and the ocean waters were warm and clear enough to see the bottom in the swallow parts. The islands were arranged in a circle around an atoll, the result of a volcano that exploded millennia ago. Separating the ocean waves from the dense tropical forests were unspoiled beaches.
Only two islands showed signs of civilization. In the inlet of one bay there was a big holiday resort, with docks for yachts and pleasure craft big and small, many bungalows, a casino, swimming pools and other areas for tourists to enjoy themselves. On an island directly opposite was a large concrete fortress, built decades ago during war time. Much of the fortress had more modern additions to it now to transform it into a research facility.
Walking along the beach of one of the islands that neighbored the one with the resort was Phoenix and Elexis. The two females, one a pomeranian canine and the other a coyote, were enjoying the peace and quiet and taking in some early-morning sun. They came across to the island by boat with their mates, Striker and Tanarus, to hold a picnic. While the males unloaded set up the camp, the females went out for a little stroll.
Phoenix glanced at Elexis. Elexis was a coyote from the United States, with dark gray fur, blue eyes, black hair that reached down to her neck and white fur on the top of her muzzle and the tip of her tail. She wore a green one-piece swimsuit. Elexis was part of a husband-duo with Tanarus, her coyote mate, who sometimes teamed up with her and Striker's military unit known as Unit STRIKE and helped out on missions around the world. Elexis was a medic, but also an agile karate fighter.
Phoenix spoke out in her Indian accent to her friend to get a conversation going.
Phoenix:"It was sure nice of the males to surprise us with a picnic today."
Elexis nodded her head and looked at Phoenix. Phoenix was a pomeranian with origins in India. She had red/orange fur all over, long hair that reached half-way down her back and a short but fluffy tail that curled inward. She wore a small blue two-piece bikini that showed off her well-shaped body and left almost little to the imagination.
Elexis:"Yes, it was good of them. I really thought we were going to spend the day at the casino."
Phoenix:"Or in bed."
Elexis giggled as Phoenix said that with a smirk. The missions they sometimes undertook left precious little time for them to be intimate with their mates. So the first day of their stay at the resort was spent making love and reaffirming their bonds with their husbands.
Elexis:"I suspect that it might come a bit later on. I saw the tents and sleeping bags they brought amongst all the gear."
Phoenix:"I'm looking forward to it, really. We have been so busy the last few months, we really need to unwind."
Elexis:"Absolutely. I got a few new positions I want to try out with Tanarus."
Phoenix:"So do I."
They kept walking along the beach, chatting between them about the plans they had for their mates for the night. They walked a bit in the water, the waves splashing against their legs, to cool off a little bit. The further they walked, the more visible the facility on the other island became visible. Finally Phoenix could no longer hold back her curiosity. She pointed to the facility as she turned to ask Elexis.
Phoenix:"Hey, Elexis. Do you know what that facility is over there?"
Elexis followed her eyes to where Phoenix was pointing and spotted the facility nestled against the tree-covered slopes of the island's extinct volcano.
Elexis:"I don't really know, but an employee at the resort told me that it was some kind of government research facility."
Phoenix:"Did he say what kind of research?"
Elexis:"He didn't know what they did there. That place is pretty quiet and the staff there kept to themselves. There was a bit of activity two days ago, but other than that nothing interesting that one can see goes on there."
Phoenix:"Top secret, it seems."
Elexis just nodded her head. They turned their talk to other matters, still walking ankle-deep in the water along the beach. Further on down the beach rock formations began to appear in the waves and on the beach. The beach was also getting narrower and the treeline was closer to the ocean. The pair either walked or climbed over the rocks as they went along, stopping now and then to look into some of the pools formed by the rocks.
After a few minutes they came across a large rock formation that ran from the waves into the jungle, essentially blocking off the area. Phoenix and Elexis looked the black lava stone over. The bumps on it made it look like the tail of some big lizard. Elexis looked at Phoenix.
Elexis:"Should we turn back now?"
Phoenix glanced back at her friend.
Phoenix:"We could go back, but I just want to quickly see if there is anything beyond this wall. Want to come with me?"
Elexis politely shook her head. She was thinking of heading back to camp and rejoining the others. She also wanted to stay here and check out some of the pools for the green shells of dead urchins, which she regularly collected.
Elexis:"You go on ahead. I'll wait here for you. I think I might find a few good starfish shells here."
Phoenix:"Sure. I won't be long."
Phoenix started to walk to the rock wall, while Elexis headed in amongst the more flatter parts. Phoenix found foots and paw-holds quite easily. The dry rocks were not as slippery as the wet ones they had gone across, too. The pomeranian made good time and soon disappeared over the crest of the rocks to the other side.
Meanwhile, Elexis scoured the numerous pools for urchin shells. The shells, she knew, would stand out because they were green and shaped like overturned bowls with small holes on top. In the pools she found many small fish, sea anenomy, a few crabs, mussels clinging to the stone and even a few starfish. To the coyote's minor disappointment, the only urchin shell she found was one where it was still alive. Still, it was no real bad loss. She had already found a few good ones back at resort island, so if she was to leave here it would not be empty pawed.
While looking at a pair of hermit crabs jostling with each other over an empty shell, Elexis realized she might have spent much more time than she thought she would. She got up and headed back to the beach. The coyote could not see Phoenix and assumed that her friend was still on the other side of the rocks. She called out to the pomeranian.
Elexis:"Hey, Phoenix! How about we go back to the guys now?"
There was no response from beyond the rocks. Elexis tried again, this time a little louder.
Elexis:"Phoenix! Hey, come on!"
Again there was no reply. Elexis guessed that Phoenix had probably walked too far for her to hear the calls above the sound of the waves. She went over and began to climb up the rocks. It was not too much effort, being very agile and finding easy places to get good grips. Soon she was at the top of the rock wall, looking down. The beach reappeared just a few feet beyond the rocks and the treeline retreated from the ocean again further on. But there was no sight of her pomeranian friend.
A flash of blue and purple colours along the treeline by the rocks caught her eye. Elexis climbed down the other side, curious to see what it was. It took her only a few minutes to get onto the beach, then over to what she saw. Lying on the sand by a large purple flower was Phoenix's bikini top and bottom. The coyote went over and picked them, then sniffed. She could definitely smell Phoenix's scent on them very strongly.
A smile formed on Elexis' face. Phoenix was quite an avid nudist and tended to shed her swimsuit when there was a chance. Elexis had sometimes joined her as well. The coyote was a bit more conservative, though she did not mind stripping a bit in private and really did enjoy going nude now and then. She turned to look at the ocean, figuring that Phoenix had gone skinny dipping. If her friend had, then she might just joint her.
Elexis studied the waves, but saw no sign of the familiar orange/red fur amid the blue waters. She scratched her chin, wondering where Phoenix was. Her gaze turned to the beach, still looking for the canine. When she did not spot any further sign of her, Elexis called out again.
Elexis:"Phoenix? Come on! Are you suddenly too shy?"
There was no reply again. Elexis wondered if Phoenix was playing a trick on her. She looked around some more until her eyes rested on the purple flower. It was surprisingly big and colourful, having a bulbous tip the width of a large car tire and bright purple petals as long as her upper arm. It has a stalk that resembled a big rubber pipe that went straight into the ground. The coyote studied the flower a bit more, then smiled at it.
Elexis:"Did you see my friend, flower?"
The flower said nothing, but Elexis did not expect an answer anyway. She turned to look back out at the waves, thinking she perhaps missed seeing Phoenix. She looked more carefully over the waves, while she ran her fingers over the smooth fabric of Phoenix's bikini. It was at that moment when she noticed something odd. The straps of the bikini top and bottom were all torn at the seams. Elexis looked more closely at the torn straps.
Behind the female coyote the flower's centre started to open up as it moved closer and above her. Two vines came out of the ground where the stalk went into the earth and slithered towards Elexis' legs.
Elexis finally looked up, still running her fingers over the bikini and wondering why they had been torn. Why would Phoenix tear her bikini up like this? She not have answer, but started to suspect that something was wrong. She looked down to examine the bikini, then noticed footprints in the sand. It was clearly both that of hers and of Phoenix. Her eyes followed the tracks to where they heading...
The coyote gasped when the vines came into her field of view. She immediately looked up at the flower just in time to see it close right over her. She gave out a started yelp that became muffled as the flower closed over her upper to just above her belly button. The bikini top and bottom fell onto the sand as Elexis struggled and tried to get the flower off her. She shook her body and tried to lift her paws to claw at the petals. Her shouts could be heard from inside the plant, albeit slightly muffled.
Elexis:"Hey! Let go of me! Let go!!"
Elexis tried to kick at the plant, but suddenly found her ankles held down by the two vines that had coiled around them. The vines did not stop there, for they snaked their way up her shapely legs towards her thigh. The sensation sent a shiver up Elexis's spine. She could feel them cross her hips, then slip in under her swimsuit before continuing their way up along her sides. The skin of the vines tickled Elexis' sides and she tried very hard not to laugh. The vines reached her shoulders and slid in under the straps that held the swimsuit over her shoulders. Then they both pulled hard on her swimsuit. Finally the swimsuit fell off the coyote's body, the tatters coming to a rest on the sand alongside Phoenix's bikini. Elexis shivered again as she felt the cool ocean air against her nude body.
Elexis:"Oh boy. What is going on? What the heck is the plant doing?"
The vines retreated back down Elexis' body, but remained around her ankles and tightened their grip. Then both the vines and the flower in unison lifted the female up into the air until her feet was above her body at a forty-five degree angle. She kept squirm and struggling, trying to free either her legs or arms to fight back. Inside the plant, Elexis suddenly felt some kind of mask attach over her nose and muzzle. She tried to bite and shake her head free, but the mask tightly kept its grip. In the dim light Elexis did notice that the mask was attached to a stem that came out of the stalk to which the open maw of the bulb lead.
A powerful smell struck Elexis' nostrils as the plant began to feed her some kind of toxin. She could feel herself becoming drowsy and her muscles losing their strength. She guessed that the toxin was a form of anesthetics that the plant used to neutralize its prey. Even her thoughts became somewhat hazy as her mind drifted towards a kind of sleep.
Having felt its prey stop struggling, the plant began to flex the muscles of its mouth and draw the female in head-first, while a suction inside the stalk helped pull her in. Her breasts, while not big, were more rounded and toned thanks to vigorous training. The plant has developed its mouth to accommodate such bulk and thus the coyote's orbs slipped in easily. Finally a bit of light appeared as the tube became transparent. Through it she could briefly see some kind of chamber, about the size of a hotel room. The sides glowed with some kind of strange fluorescence. The floor of the chamber had about six holes, three of which were closed and had long vines going into them from the ceiling. The tube turned, taking her to one of the open holes. When she reached the hole, she could see a kind of cavity down there. The tube then deposited the coyote head-first into that cavity, the mask over her face detaching and letting her take in clean air. She yelped when she landed face-first on the floor of the chamber. Elexis felt her strength returning and her mind becoming more awake.
A familiar voice near her brought Elexis to full alertness.
Voice"Elexis, are you all right?"
Elexis quickly turned her head as she got herself upright on her haunches. Through the transparent wall of her chamber she could see Phoenix inside another cavity next to hers. The pomeranian was standing up with her paws resting on the wall separating her chamber from the coyote's. Her fur was a bit ruffled but otherwise she appeared in good health. Phoenix was completely nude, her body showing the curves and figure of someone who had put in a good deal of exercise. Elexis gasped as she saw her friend.
Elexis:"Phoenix!"
Phoenix:"It got you too, didn't it? Are you all right?"
Elexis nodded, trying to get herself standing. Her legs wobbled a bit, feeling a little dizzy in the head.
Elexis:"I'm... all right. A bit drugged from the gas the plant gave me."
Phoenix:"So was I, but luckily it wears off pretty quickly."
Elexis:"Yes, I feel it... How do you end up here?"
Phoenix looked around the cavity she was in, spreading her arms a bit to gesture all around her.
Phoenix:"Here? Well, I saw that purple flower and went up to smell it. Next thing I knew, the flower was right over me and vines were curled around my feet. They tore off my bikini, then made me breathe in some kind of toxin that made me pass out. When I recovered a short while ago, I was here."
Elexis had now fully recovered from the effects and was able to stand on both her feet. She turned to Phoenix and put both her paws on the wall separating her chamber from the one which Phoenix was in. The coyote could feel the slick, rubbery skin was quite strong yet elastic. The female canine went over and put her paws supportively against the wall where Elexis' paws were. They looked at each other's eyes.
Elexis:"Have you figured out how we can get out of here? We have to escape before this plant starts to digest us."
Phoenix:"Elexis, the plant does not really digest its victims."
Elexis raised a questioning eyebrow at Phoenix.
Elexis:"How do you know that, Phoenix?"
To answer, Phoenix pointed one finger to her left. Elexis turned her head, then she gasped and her eyes went very wide in surprise. Through her chamber sides she could see three other cavities that were already occupied by other females: a white/brown-furred Canadian collie canine, an elf with silvery blue hair and a hyena. All three were completely naked like Elexis and Phoenix. Vines held them by their arms and legs, suspending them in some kind of liquid that filled the chambers. Each female had a vine with a respirator-like tip over their faces and two vines with suction cup ends latched tightly onto their breasts. Phoenix:"Ironic indeed. I do like the idea of you enjoying this with me, though I would have preferred a more gentle introduction than this."
Elexis:"Oh, that's okay. At least it does not look painful. And besides, it's better this than being disgested, wouldn't you agree?"
Phoenix:"Sure is."
The two of them giggled. At that moment Phoenix suddenly felt something wet on her feet. She looked down and saw her cavity beginning to fill up with the same goo that was in the others. She stepped back and lifted her feet, making a sloshing noise as she did. Elexis watched Phoenix's chamber as the level of the liquid rose over the pomeranian's ankles.

As they talked, two vines reached down from the ceiling and grappled around Phoenix's wrists. Next two more vines appeared out of the liquid and wrapped tightly around Phoenix ankles. They kept walking until they came to the rock wall that ran through the middle of the beach and stopped.
Striker looked up at the rock outcroppings, then glanced over at his friend, speaking with a South African Afrikaner accent.
Striker:"Do you think they climbed over these rocks, Tanarus?"
Tanarus rubbed the fur under his chin as he examined the big rocks. He answered without turning his head.
Tanarus:"They could have, Striker. This rock formation does not look too hard to climb."
Striker:"Let's climb over and see if we can't spot them."
Tanarus:"Good idea, let's go."
The two males went up and began to climb over the rocks. They were both athletic and thus has no trouble in getting over the rock wall to the other side. Once they put their feet down on the sandy beach there, they looked around again. They quickly spotted the blue and green colours of their females' swimsuits lying by the edge of the treeline.
But the purple flower was no longer there, the plant having moved on after capturing it's two prey.
