#2 of Chronicling Memew: Convergence

'History is a grand collection of stories....'

Memew groaned a little as she scratched her inner thigh. Cracking open an eye as her fingers suddenly caught on crusted fur. She groaned and looked down at herself. Frowning a bit as she started to tug her fur from where it stuck to the floor. Grumbling a bit as she mumble, "Ugh... I need ta get cleaned up..." She then started to remember the fun that led to the mess. Smiling fondly as a hand drifted towards her slit. Though its progress halted as she remembered where it was that she had that fun.

Quickly jumping up to her paws. She hastily glanced around. Her ears drooped and she touched her fingertips together. Her posture made her look incredibly remorseful as she imagined just how upset Sef would be with her. Her attention was diverted as a sweep of her tail triggered a lance of pain to shoot through the three-foot appendage.

Her paws left the floor as her hands shot to the base of her tail. Sliding her fingers along its length like she were trying to squeeze out the pain.

It took her several seconds to calm the aches out of her tail. The task effectively distracting her from where she was. She swung her tail about a few times. Wincing as the motions brought out a few more aches. She shook her rump and grumbled, "I gotta stop passing out on my tail..." Stroking it again as she attempted to sooth out more of the pain.

Groaning as she calmed her aching tail a bit and then gasped. Remembering that she had to get to the temple! She touched one of her paws to the floor before she twirled about and then shot towards the stairwell. Hooking her fingers on the small lip to make it easier to change direction. She hit the bottom on all fours. Her tail arching over her before she jumped off towards the exit. Shooting off as her bag lay forgotten beside her brother's.

Sef watched her descend the stairwell before he let out a sigh. Rubbing his face while still trying to forget what it was that he'd come home to last night. It was made even harder by the constant reminder jutting out between his legs. Though currently it was sandwiched between his thighs.

He could feel it throbbing as every inward breath brought in more of the scent of his sister's arousal. Even though she had left, that scent was still thick in the air. "Gah... Memew's scent sure is potent..." Sef groaned as he looked down and noticed the sealed pouch she had left behind.

Frowning, he looked over his shoulder briefly. Almost as though he expected someone to be watching him. With a sigh he looked back to the bag and hesitantly left his perch. Dropping down to the level of the ledge he looked to the bag. Taking it from the little shelf he undid the string and opened it up.

He smiled at the candies he saw inside. They were Memew's special candies. Something she only occasionally made and something only she knew how to make. Picking up one of the candies he looked at it. It was a green candy that took the shape of a hexagonal rod. It was like an emerald crystal.

He popped it into his mouth and savored the flavor. Blushing a bit as he remembered that they might not have been candies. They could have just been jewels. His ears dipping a bit as he recalled one time he'd gotten the two confused.

Shaking his head to get the memory out. He looked around. Blinking a bit as he realized he had sank to the floor. His tail swished along the floor for a moment before his eyes settled on the toy he had come across his sister using. His blush came back stronger as his arousal brought to mind memories of himself enjoying it.

A shiver ran up his spine as he recalled how much more satisfying it was to use the toy then to just masturbate. Of how much more intense his climaxes were when his tail hole was filled. His fingers wrapped around his erection as his legs spread out. Tail between them as he began to stroke himself.

His arousal heightened with every breath of his sister's scent. Gasping he realized what he was doing and shook his head in heavy motions. Taking a half breath before he grumbled, "I gotta... gotta get fresh air..." Grabbing the pouch of candies before he shot towards the stairwell. Dropping down into it and taking a deep breath.

Relief set in as his sister's scent faded, but didn't entirely vanish. Allowing him to think clearly. Well, more clearly. His jutting shaft was still prominent and begging for his attention. Stepping out of the stairwell he glanced up it one last time before the opening above passed out of sight.

With a sigh he looked to his bag before his focus drifted to his sister's bag right next to it. Shifting the candy in his mouth he grumbled, "Come on sis... stop forgetting your stuff here..." He floated over to them and sealed up the pouch of candies. Regardless of whether she intended to give them to him or not, he put them into his bag. After she intruded in his home and rummaged through his things, it was the least she owed him.

Taking a breath before slowly letting it out an image of her came to mind unbidden. It was how she looked after she woke up. He guessed it was when she realized she had done something wrong. Chewing on his lip he tugged on his black right ear. He couldn't stay so upset with her. Not when she felt bad about what she'd done. It was another thing when she did something and fully intended it. Something else when she wound up doing something because of her short attention.

Sef looked to Memew's bag for a moment before he groaned and said, "I can't invade her privacy... might as well return it to her though."

"...and so in creating the Primals. Fayte had single-handedly created everything." The elder feline spoke as Memew worked her jaw in a mocking way. The interior of the temple was quite ornate, however it was devoid of signs of worship. It more closely resembled a museum as apposed to a temple. Containing lessons from the past and even many stories that in its time had been lost elsewhere.

Memew glanced back to her mother and watched the woman babble on about something. The youth rolled her shoulders before she decided to head off for elsewhere. Rising up and glancing about she took in the vast space that only one like her could freely explore. Others were restricted to the walkways and ladders scattered throughout the temple.

She frowned a bit and grumbled, "Where was that one place..." as she took off into the massive complex of stone and precious metals. Searching around as she flew through the temple looking for the place she remembered having seen just once when she had been a kitten. Though without really knowing where she was going or what she was truly looking for. It was going to take quite some time.

Though after turning around a pillar she found herself floating inches above a stone floor with copper sealing the bricks in place. Memew blinked once as her jaw dropped. Looking around she could see that she had somehow gotten into a rather narrow hallway. This hallway extended in both directions with no sign of the large space she had been only moments before.

"Um... uh... uhh..." Memew stumbled over her thoughts as she started to slowly progress forwards. Her mind swirling with half formed thoughts as she failed to work out how she had gotten here.

Not one to have paid any attention when her mother had spoken of things like magic theory or how anything mystical functioned. Such a thing was incredibly baffling to her. As she was without the knowledge to understand the phenomena.

She eventually began to grow curious as to where this mystery hallway went. Now that she was here she might as well find that out. A smile crossed her face as she looked to the glowstones that were mounted onto the wall. Observing their luminance as she floated along. Noticing that the walls were unusually barren.

Yet as time drew on and on she didn't seem to be be making progress. Her lack of patience adding to her irritation. Looking over her shoulder she questioned the open air, "How long is this thing?" Frowning as the only response was her own rapidly fading echo. "Hey!! Someone put me here! I know that cause I didn't get myself here! If I did I would KNOW HOW LEAVE!!!" Her voice rising to a shriek with the last few words.

She puffed out her cheeks and seethed while looking down the seemingly endless hallway. Her tail lashed around behind her while her ears stuck straight out to the sides of her head. Again she didn't receive any response. "I'll break stuff!" cried Memew as she ground her teeth. Still no answer. So she grabbed the nearest glowstone sconce and hesitated briefly as she said, "I'm serious. I'll break it!" When she was met with more silence she tugged on it. Though instead of snapping off like she wanted the fixture swung down with a click.

Memew blinked as she hung from the fixture. Her paws resting against the wall beneath it as the wall to her left suddenly faded away. She blinked and stared through the opening. What she saw through it wasn't where she wanted to go, but it was something that seemed to draw her in.

Releasing the fixture she dropped to the floor and leaned over to get a better look through the doorway. Beyond it was a chamber that held an ornate arch. This arch was surrounded by various runes of silver set into the wall around it. On the arch were different runes of gold set into it. The large structure seemed to call out to her. Urging her to touch it.

She stared at the black structure for a moment before she noticed a ripple travel through her vision. Blinking she reached forwards and felt her fingers touch something as the image of the room seemed to bend away from her. Pushing more firmly she watched as her hand sunk into whatever it was that this image seemed to be on. It squeezed around her hand as she wiggled her fingers.

The sensation was quite bizarre. All she could feel was pressure and when her fingers touched the pressure vanished. It was almost like water, without feeling wet or cold. Pulling her hand back out she looked it over before sniffing it. "Woah..." Frowning a bit before she looked back to this strange fluid wall. She placed her hands on either side of it before she leaned forwards.

Her head plunged into it and her ears clung to her head as their tips didn't pass all the way through. However something else grabbed her attention. She couldn't breathe in. Air could escape her lungs, but she couldn't get it back. Pulling back she gasped and shook her head. "Wha? What is this thing?" Memew asked as she touched it with a single finger. Blinking a little before she moved her finger around in it as she watched the ripples travel through it.

"One more time!" She announced before taking a deep breath and then plunged her head back in. This time she had a chance to look around. The rest of the room was covered with plaques. She couldn't read them over the distance that separated them from her, but she quickly lost focus on them. Her attention instead focusing on her mother and brother. Her left ear rising up as its tip sank into the film with most of the rest of her head and the resistance holding it down faded.

"Sef?" Memew quietly mumbled before she pulled her head back and took a breath. Immediately plunging back through and then looking to him. Watching him for a moment before she looked to her mother and frowned. Pulling back out of the strange... thing... before she looked to another sconce. Blinking as her expression turned somewhat curious. She floated over to it and tugged on it.

Another section of the wall turned into a space like the last. Memew, however frowned as it looked like it was the same room. Plunging her head into it she looked around and confirmed that it was indeed the same room. Just a different place in the room.

Pulling back Memew looked to another sconce. Pulling on it she then stuck her head into it and looked around. Again it was the same room, as was the one after it, and the next and yet again. She kept going until she reached one that wouldn't swing down.

She gritted her teeth and held onto the fixture with both hands before placing her paws on either side of it. Then pulling as hard as she could on it. Groaning as she pulled and pulled until she let out a startled cry in reaction to a metallic snap. The fixture had broken off the wall and in the moment following Memew was flung across the hall with the force she had built up in her legs.

The staggered placement of the sconces meant there was an opening placed in the proper spot for her to sail right into it. She could feel the pressure envelope her as she passed into it. Her arms and legs flailing out as she became suspended with the tip of her tail still in the hall.

She was without air and was unable to draw anymore inwards. All the while she was unable to figure out how to get out of this. Her flailing becoming more and more frantic as her lungs burned. Panicking as she became certain she was about to die.

Finally she thought of pulling on her tail and with a hard tug the pressure squeezing her vanished with an audible pop. Blinking she took a moment to realize she could breath again. Taking in a deep gasping breath before it turned into a series of gasps before calming down.

The next thing she realized was that she was falling. She threw her arms and legs out before landing flat on her face.

The next thing Memew was aware of were quiet and indistinct voices. Raising an arm she grasped at whatever she could and whimpered, "No... busy..." Her hand grasped a muzzle and squeezed firmly. Hands gripped her arm and gave a bit of a tug as one of the voices changed. Still just beyond comprehension as she raised her other hand towards the first.

Grabbing at what she was holding onto her second hand found a flap that was fuzzy on one side and smooth on the other. "Are... you a... monster?" Memew mumbled as she held onto what she'd grabbed hold of. One of her thumbs finding a moist opening as she managed to determine that one of the voices sounded panicked.

A sharp tug on her ear brought her out of her stupor. She sat up with dual cries. One being hers. The other belonging to Sef as Memew dragged him down with her thumb hooked in his nostril. He pulled himself free from her before he rubbed his muzzle quite vigorously. Looking at Memew with irritation.

Memew rubbed her ear just a bit before she looked to their mother. Frowning, she asked, "What did you do that for?" The elder just sighed before she said, "That's beside the point. Do you care to tell me why you took off? All you had to do is pay attention for JUST today!" She then took a breath to calm herself. Her patience with Memew was running terribly thin.

Remaining quiet for a few moments Memew eventually answered, "I don't know. It's boring and I didn't want to." Sef Sighed and crossed his arms as he floated in place. Closing his eyes as he listened to his mother and sister. The former had tensed at Memew's answer and said, "Memew! Our duties here are to Fayte! We must carry on the teachings until he calls!"

Lifting herself to her paws, Memew cried, "I didn't ask for this! I had no choice in any of it! You've just told me all my life that it was MY duty! Sef is a better choice for it!" She swung an arm in her brother's direction and then added, "But no! You keep telling me that it's me! I want to have a choice!"

The matron glared at Memew for a moment as the younger of the two panted. Taking a deep breath the elder spoke in a calm tone. A resigned tone as she said, "I've tried Memew... I have tried to teach you... but you just won't have it. I'm done... you clearly have no interest, and I've failed... you're free to go." She then passed by Memew. Pausing for a moment to keep herself under control before leaving.

Memew was in tears. Feeling that she really had done something wrong, but couldn't think of what it might be. She'd never been happy with all that pressure and expectations placed on her. Looking to Sef she spread her arms. Expecting him to comfort her. Instead he shook his head and said, "Sis..." Moving her bag beside her before he picked up his own. Preparing to leave Memew alone when the large arch in the room sparked to life with orange energy.

A bolt sparked up along either half before meeting at the apex of the structure. A booming tearing sound shot through the chamber the moment they met and caused both Memew and Sef to cover their ears. A second boom accompanied a wave of energy that knocked Sef and Memew off their paws.

The temple cracked around them as bits of stone fell from the ceiling. A faint film of orange energy appeared within the arch. Stronger surges of energy rushed up along the arch building up the film into a stronger rift.

"WE'RE GONNA DIE!!" Memew cried out as she flailed about. Flopping around as she tried to get up onto her paws in a frantic panic. When at last she managed to get up, another surge of energy threw her onto her face.

Instead of trying to get back up she scrambled forwards. Seeking to escape as the cracks in the walls and ceiling became thicker. Getting back to her paws as she rushed forwards. Her mother appearing at the end of the hall leaving the room just before the hall collapsed.

A heap of stone sealing the only way out of the room as the next of the strengthening surges shook the temple. Memew slammed into the heap of stone and screamed, "WE'RE GONNA DIE!!" Her eyes wide as she gripped onto the stone heap. Terrified of the surges of energy.

But there wasn't another surge. The room had fallen silent aside from the loud ringing in Memew's ears. Her eyes twitched about as she continued to cling to the rubble. Her large triangular ears twisted about as they and her eyes were the only things moving.

It took her several moments to calm down enough to pry herself from the wall of rubble. Remaining close to it as though it were the safest place in the room. The once magnificent chamber before her was now in ruins. Large cracks covered nearly every surface. It looked as though it could all come down at any moment.

She gulped and glanced around. Twitching her ears as they continued to ring. "Owwie..." she murmured as she brushed one of her ears. Her voice sounded a bit muffled to her. Though she didn't focus on that as she looked around for Sef. Worried about him after the thing that had just happened. She hadn't a clue what to call it.

Her ears lowering to her skull as she began to contemplate whether she should leave her spot to look. She could feel her stomach tensing at the very thought of moving out into the open. Baser instincts taking hold as for the first time in her life. Something outside her control threatened her life and she had no clue what to do about it.

Though her concern for Sef was competing with her fear of being crushed. Her tail looped around her torso diagonally and she grabbed onto it with both hands. It looked like a coiled rope draped across her shoulder.

Taking several breaths she began to mumble encouragements to herself. Trying to convince herself to venture out amidst the fallen chunks of ceiling. It took her quite some time and several aborted ventures into the open before she finally made it more then a few feet from the collapsed hallway.

She floated with her legs pulled close and hovering only inches from the ground. Her gaze flitting around as each moment she was exposed left her feeling as though her insides were being squeezed. Breathing became harder as the pressure seemed to build ever greater. Sweat dampening her fur as ice seemed to appear inside her.

It was just as she was about to abandon looking when she spotted him. He was unconscious, but there wasn't anything around him that could have struck him. She forgot all about the possible dangers around her and just like that all the pressure and ice disappeared.

Rushing to his side she started to shake him. Trying to wake him up as she called out his name, "Sef, wake up! It's scary here and I neeed youuu!" Her voice becoming whiny near the end when he didn't stir. She began to breathe rapidly as she looked around. The structure began to make noises as it started to shift.

Panic returned to her as the doorway to the collapsed hall, collapsed itself. Memew shrieked and tugged on Sef's arm for a few moments as she frantically flew around. Mostly zipping back and forth as she tightly held onto his wrist.

Her eyes wide as her tail whipped about and tremors ran through her. More sounds ran through the walls and ceiling and Memew pulled harder. Beginning to shift Sef about with each frantic movement she made.

Suddenly she stopped moving about as she noticed the archway and the portal within it. Looking to Sef and then back to the portal. She was uncertain about the strange orange water like wall, but unable to see any openings like the one she'd gotten here through. Memew was left with little other choice.

"Stupid orange... hole... thing!" Memew mumbled as set her mind on getting her, her brother, and their things through that strange portal. She started with Sef's bag. Grunting as she raised it up over her head and then unsteadily drifted towards the portal. When she got close enough she tossed it and then watched it disappear. It almost looked like it disappeared into non-clear orange water.

She stared at it for a moment before a rumble above her captured her attention and reminded her of her task. Returning to Sef she looked around. Frowning as she didn't see her own bag. "Where is it?!" She cried out frustratedly while looking about for her bag. Her focus was brought back to more important things as a piece of the ceiling landed right next to her. Causing her to scream and fly in circles for a moment. "I'm too young to die!!!"

When she'd calmed down enough to think she returned to Sef and then started trying to think of how she'd move him. Flinching as she heard more stone falling to the floor. She grabbed him by the middle and pulled him into a bit of a hug. His limp form slipped through her arms and she grit her teeth as she struggled to get hold of him.

"Come on Sef! Stop it! I need to hold you!" Memew barked as she worked to get a good hold of him. On her third try she started to think about holding him by the neck. Then she realized something, "Oh... maybe I could use his tail..."

Picking him up again she clasped her fingers together beneath his tail and then grinned at her success. Another chunk fell from the ceiling and startled Memew so that she nearly fell over. Sef's weight caused her to need to rush to the side a ways to regain her balance. Cursing the stone as she collected her bearings and then made her way towards the portal.

When she arrived in front of it she was panting and gasped as Sef started to drop. Hugging him tightly she cursed her exhaustion for her poor choice to just let go. Thankfully she had managed to stop him from hitting the ground and possibly get hurt. Though Memew was too tired to lift him back up and let him sink towards the ground. Setting him on his back before she dropped onto her rump.

She sat there a few seconds before the building around her rumbled again. Whining she muttered, "No... I don't wanna move anymore..." Her arms and legs felt really weak while she couldn't quite feel her tail at the moment. It and her ears might as well no longer have existed. Though with a crunching sound from above and a crash somewhere in the darkening room she pushed herself up.

She sniffed and wiped her cheek. Blinking in shock as she looked at her wet hand. Just now noticing that she'd been crying. Though things had gotten so bad so very fast. Her arms and legs hurt, she couldn't find her things and worse she sent Sef off to who knows where.

Another portion of the room collapsed and Memew whimpered before she glimpsed a strap as she had turned to look to the sound. Scanning back across the rubble strewn floor she found the strap she'd seen and moved in to it. Tugging on it for a moment before another concerning noise urged her to move the stones on the bag.

Once it had been freed she pulled it into a hug and hurried towards the portal as the sound of shifting stone had become near constant. She folded her ears down as the grinding noise of stone scraping against stone both deeply unsettled her and was uncomfortable to hear.

However, when she reached the portal she stopped in front of it. Noticing the arch supporting the rippling orange was beginning to crack as the sound of shifting stone increased. Uncertainty held her back as she stared at the shimmering orange wall. She didn't know if Sef was even alive on the other side. Drifting back a bit her paw bumped against a piece of debris and she glanced down at it before looking around the crumbling shadowy room. Sections of wall and ceiling falling to the floor as entire sections above sagged and in some spots plummeted to the floor.

Panting, Memew looked back to the portal before a particularly large collapse drove her to dive into the orange. After that she couldn't remember what had happened.

"Memew. Tell me what it is that you think the point of life is." Memew groaned a bit as she heard a voice that she just couldn't describe. It sounded like every possible sound she could imagine, and somehow sounded right. Like that was how it should sound.

Glancing around she found herself in a large orange bubble, or what looked like a bubble. She couldn't be certain as entire sections seemed to shift and shimmer. Yet she couldn't see past the opaque orange.

Then the strange amalgamation of sound repeated its request. Memew shrugged and answered, "I don't know... my family tells me that it is to be in service to Fayte." The sound chuckled before answering, "That is true... in a way, yet you don't adhere. Why is that?"

Memew looked down at the orange rock she seemed to be sitting on as she answered, "It's restricting. What's the point when something else has a plan for me? It's like we're all just pretending that our choices matter." She touched her hands together and stared at them for a moment before she stood up and firmly questioned, "How can they matter when a greater power has plans for us?! A force beyond our control that makes decisions about us despite our own wants?!"

The sound laughed in a way that somehow seemed very excited, "Exactly! The greatest moments come about unplanned. There is no greater feeling then witnessing something that you very well might never see again!"

Looking around Memew tried to look towards the source of the sound, but without knowing where that was she returned her attention down and said, "Yeah I guess, but why am I here?"

"Ah yes my little wild card. You are here aren't you?" The sound seemed proud as energies began to swirl in from everywhere. Memew's brow tightened as she noticed the streams of glittering orange starting to circle towards her. Frowning as she indignantly stated, "That isn't an answer."

"You, my little wild card, yearn for freedom. You aren't content with putting your fate in the hands of others. You are the greatest chance we have of giving the world the power to write their fates." The ropes of energy stopped getting closer to Memew as they began collecting into a sphere around her. "You are the one with the potential to free the world from the single pen. To give the entire world their own pens and the power to influence the great story."

Memew looked at the accelerating cords of energy with fear rising inside her. "What are you talking about?! What pen? What story?!" Memew cried out as she didn't understand what was going on. The sound seemed closer as it said, "You are to be my gifted. Your road is your own and it is you that will decide the future of the great story."

Growing more frustrated by the lack of answers she cried, "What story?! You aren't telling me anything!" The sound laughed and asked her, "What is greatness that isn't earned? What is beauty without originality? What is the point of letting another write your story?"

Memew was getting very scared now. She could feel the orb of energy around her starting to burn. "What is going on!?" Memew cried out as she pulled herself into a ball trying to escape the burning energy. The sound then cried, "Take your pen wild card! Write your story!"

Then the glowing orb of energy was struck by larger ropes of pulsing energy. Memew screamed out as her flesh began to burn off her. The energy rushing into her and feeling as though it were destroying her entirety. Yet it didn't end. The pain continued as the power began to fill a part of her she had never known about. A hole inside her that was never meant to be.

She began to fade from consciousness and the pain continued undiluted. Her vision fading away as her consciousness weakened under the agonizing assault. The burning was all she knew as everything around her vanished and in the end it too faded. Yet she wasn't entirely unconscious. She somehow felt that she was aware of something. That something was happening, yet she couldn't focus on it. The nothing holding her too tightly.

Fayte watched the last of his expendable energy sink into Memew. "You have much promise little wild card. I look forward to seeing what passages you add to the great story of the universe." He then sent her to the start of her story. Looking to her great wealth of possible futures he began to speculate on what paths she may choose.

'...the future is best left for the present to write.'
