#2 of D.E1 Lore and Facts

Second and last part of "All about Evocanis." In this much shorter document, a brief explanation of the origins of the Evocanis is explained. Many things left hanging in the previous part are explained here. Warning: this might be a mild spoiler for those who read D.E1, since most of this will be revealed further on the story.

With this, everything about my beloved Evocanis should be cleared out.

D.E1 is a proud original creation of GTHusky

** Origins of the Evocanis**

Many things were discussed in part one of the document titled "All about Evocanis." In this second and final part, the origins of the space canine race will be revealed; how was this race born and why.

It was close to the year 2300; a new century would be born in a small planet known as Earth deep within the confines of the Milky Way cluster. But celebration was really not in the dominant specie's mind at the moment. War had burst all around the blue globe, sinking its inhabitants in uncertainty and despair.

Almost seventy years had passed ever since the era of the Great Unveil. The day were big nations suffered from a massive disclosure of their deepest, most obscure secrets. Hard evidence was placed among the eyes of the entire planet's population. The power that once big nations had, was lost instantly within a matter of just a few days. There was no law that could now be justified after such horrendous secrets had come to life; humans wanted revenge on their own kind.

War sprouted all across the globe between those who sought equanimity, those who demanded justice, others that do what they could to disrupt anarchy, and others who would do whatever it took to regain power and that respect they once had based on fear. The planet was pure chaos, with hundreds of factions looking to fight for their own rights and beliefs; all against each other, and against the big nations.

It seemed that military power from big nations was not feared anymore. Even the smaller nations, with only their small armies and the rage and strength of their people were a force to be reckoned with.

In an effort to regain order and control of the planet, a group of powerful nations from both continents -previously the ones accused in the Great Unveil- decided to join forces, forming the Euro American Union. Decades of blood spill stained Planet Earth as these nations tried desperately to regain power. Their greed and desire of being on top went beyond their own reasoning, and now lies and coverups weren't necessary; if the rest of the planet wouldn't give up, they would force them. Eventually they would form the most brutal tyrannic empire the planet had ever known.

As more decades went on, human population had decreased by billions. Eight and a half billion humans were now reduced to five billion. The Euro American Union had a problem; even in their own territory there were millions of rebels who fought for their own cause. Their armies decreased in power over the years. But their major concern wasn't military power; it was surprisingly the realization that if humanity came to an end in this war, there would be nothing to reign over.

Casualties in their army came in the hundreds of thousands every year; not counting the almost millions that died every year in the rest of the globe. Earth was now an environmental and financial chaos. If the EAU didn't do anything, soon there would be nothing left.

There had to be a way of increasing their army as fast as possible to avoid the loss of their own. As long as those who stood for the EAU were still alive, and the rebels with many of their factions decreased in numbers, soon there will be a majority and the balance would once again tilt on their favor.

Scientists of the EAU worked hard to create the perfect soldier. One that could be abundant and disposable. A soldier that would obey blindly and existed with the sole purpose of winning the war against the enemy.

The EAU had the financial and scientific resources to pull it off. At first, it was thought of the use of clones of their most excelling soldiers, but the thought of tampering with their own DNA wasn't well received by many.

Animals...

Yes; the creatures that forever had inhabit the planet in perfect harmony. The creatures that for thousands of years had suffered by the hands of humanity were once again the target. For humans, they were inferior and their life meant nothing. The almighty humans was the one that mattered. Sons of the celestial being that had molded them on its own resemblance, as many still believed in these advance ages of modern thinking and science.

No one would cry the loss of an "inferior" being; a mere animal...

Many species were experimented with. Many were the failures. Years passed and leaders still awaited that scientific breakthrough that would give them the edge in this aged war.

Scientists looked for not only intelligence, but most of all strength. But this soldier had to live with only one purpose; to fulfill the needs of their leaders. They wouldn't have a mind of their own, nor the knowledge of life itself.

Of the few wild animal candidates that could prove deadly soldiers, like big felines and even human's closes relative, apes; none of these proved reliable enough. They either had the strength like big felines or other large animals, or in the case of apes, a very dangerous intelligence that could prove lethal if control was lost over it. Scientists needed a balance...

They didn't have to search far. For within the warmth of their home, they found the perfect candidate. Canis Familiaris had proven throughout the existence of human kind, how blindly loyal they could be. They knew no difference from good or bad as they only existed to please their owners with love and dedication. Such a pure creature would be defiled in the name of power...

Project Genesis ; that was their code name. It took years to perfect their genetic manipulation finally giving life to a fully functional and thinking Genesis subject. Many failures had passed away in gruesome experiments, but before scientists would give up, they finally made it.

Genesis would become the perfect soldier. He was now walking in his hind legs, eventually learning how to use a gun and wear a soldier uniform. But why make Project Genesis they way it was? What lead scientist to take that path?

Many things were taken in consideration when manipulating the genes of Project Genesis. After so many scientific breakthroughs that had lead scientist to be able to select what goes into each individual, they had to carefully discard or add certain aspects to make Genesis the perfect soldier.

For convenience, Genesis was made into a bipedal creature. This would give them characteristics vaguely similar to humans, and so more effort and waste of resources on creating specific gear for them would be avoided.

It took many tries, but after many in-vitro Genesis subjects finally showed to be reliable and stable, the first natural-born individuals came to life. It didn't take long for the Genesis Army to grow substantially.

Aspects like senses, instinct and other key features were manipulated. Genesis needed to be fully obedient, yet intelligent enough to be able to make their own decisions. Nothing should interfere with this. The first thing would be to get rid of their gene that provoked territorial behavior. Genesis needed to be focused at all time and not aware of their kind as a threat.

Sharp senses like hearing and smell were reduced to avoid more distractions or for Genesis to fall victim of environmental hazards, such as strong smells or sounds. Yet these needed to be stronger than the enemy's to keep an advantage. Their sight was improved, giving them the edge in poor visual conditions without having to rely on machines.

Their stronger and slightly bigger body (in comparison to their ancestors) required much more development time, so their metabolism was carefully manipulated so they could be strong and ready as soon as possible after their birth, yet giving them enough time to develop correctly. It didn't take more and a couple of years to have a fully developed Genesis subject.

The brain portion that controls communication and language was also altered. Their tongues, facial muscles and palates were also slightly changed, giving Genesis the ability to speak and learn language. They wouldn't speak too much, but only enough to express necessary things.

Instinct of self-preservation was also manipulated, giving Genesis a strong sense of awareness of themselves and their kind, making Genesis work as one in the battlefield. As little communication as possible would be needed since this genetic change would almost connect them at a mental level.

To maintain population under control and any unwanted mutations, their ability to reproduce was limited just as a precaution. Making some Genesis individuals born sterile was hard, so simple methods such as physical sterilization were used. Many breeds of Canis Familiaris were used for different purposes, and to ensure a healthy population, all their congenital diseases were carefully deleted from their genetic code, but only selected individuals were chosen for breeding purposes.

As paranoid as humans were, the scientist also added a trigger that would cause sudden death syndrome in case that in the future, Genesis would become a problem. Certain DNA stages would trigger this, such as a settling of their genetic code. This would eventually lead Genesis to extinction in a matter of a couple of years.

Everything appeared to go as planned. Thousands of Genesis subjects were now healthy and already training for the battlefield. If their calculations were correct, only in a few years, Genesis would gradually replace their own army.

But the ambition of the EAU had blinded them from reality... there was almost nothing left to fight for, and their forces were now falling behind the rest of Earth. At one point, all preparations for Genesis went to a halt and resources went to dealing with the war with what they had at the moment. It was a fierce last stage of the Unveiled War; one that almost ended in total annihilation of human kind.

The strongest factions of Earth conformed by brilliant reasonable minds, known by no name finally managed to decimate rebels, the EAU leaders and bring planet Earth to a new era of peace. The EAU was no more and all they left behind slowly burned away along with the worst memories Earth would forever have.

Scientists along with those who were chosen to lead the reconstruction of Earth eventually found among the remains of the EAU something that shook their very souls. Genesis army was still alive deep within bases and bunkers, trying to survive with what was left. Many were dead or agonized when they were found by Earth liberators.

Many things were thought to deal with this situation, and one was to humanly put these sentient bipedal creatures to rest. They never asked to be created, nor deserved what had been done to them. Earth liberators heavily considered this as the only alternative, until Genesis spoke...

"Help us... We are hungry and thirsty..." Were the words from that black and white Genesis individual. There was something in his blue eyes that touched the hearts of Earth liberators.

Earth Liberators have come this far to prove a point. They were free-thinkers and ascended minds. They believed in equality, the right to live and respect to the planet that had once given birth to all; the planet that they now needed to save. Giving their backs to these bipedal dogs would prove to them they they are as vile as the threat they managed to eradicate.

Genesis never showed itself aggressive. They just begged for help. These were hard times, but even though these creatures were created for obscure purposes, they were at the end, living beings. Genesis after all ended up being a failure to its original purpose. Things as simple as eliminating territorial behavior and other aspects that were supposed to make them more efficient, ended up creating a completely benign life form. After the help provided, Genesis acted with such gratefulness and loyalty that instantly made the Liberators decide the fate of these creatures; they were to have a well deserved right to live.

What guilt did man's best friend had in all this? They were victims of abuse and torture just to fulfill someone's ambition of power. Even though they were just created to kill and win wars with brutal efficiency, here they were... gentle creatures just begging for their right to live...

Many years have passed and Genesis was finally among those who saved Earth. It was curious how these creatures that were created with the sole purpose of killing were gentle as their original ancestors, or even more. Earth liberators had created an immense bond with Genesis, and they helped each other rebuild. This was known through the entire globe, and somehow the intelligent humans that still remained, finally understood their place in this planet. They were all creatures of Earth and they should work together to keep their planet and each others safe.

Earth now saw the birth of an era without nations, politics and all the things that once almost lead them to total destruction.

But not many felt comfortable with this... As humans as they were, they knew it wouldn't last. Eventually there would be men that would seek power, control, and thus the cycle would once again begin. The original liberators had gained an immense sense of protection over Genesis. Genesis were their babies. They were fascinated at Genesi's capabilities of learning and absorbing information and that worried them. They felt they needed to protect Genesis from corruption and them suffering from a possible new era of war.

Discoveries were made of massive colonies being built in the outskirts of the solar system Earth belonged to. A search party from Earth liberators had indeed found plans and unfinished colonies made by factions that sought the way to escape Earth, but that unfortunately for whatever reason, they never were capable of.

Even more decades passed and Earth was changing again. Evidence of factions forming and groups that conspired to make Earth what it used to before the Great Unveiled era were solid. Something had to be done. Earth liberators were ready, but there was something to do before that; save Genesis.

The gentle creatures had done so much for Earth, and humans were again threatening to destroy it. Liberators decided that Earth was no longer a place for Genesis, but that they deserved to live free as a species of their own right.

A few of the space colonies were finally finished. Among them, one named Canis Major. The entire population of Genesis were distributed throughout these massive ships in an enormous effort and preparation that lasted a couple of years. Nothing was left out of consideration. If these massive space colonies were to be Genesi's new home, they needed to have all the resources and ways to maintain these resources permanently.

As much as the Liberators fought against secrecy, for the sake of Genesis, they needed to maintain this huge exodus in total closure. The last months before launch came. Each and every Genesis individual was placed in Stasis Capsules inside each colony. Impulses in their brains while they slept would gradually cause a permanent amnesia, making Genesis forget they were ever in Earth, their origins and even their name. With this same method, all sorts of information would be implanted in their brains, including advanced science, space engineering, advance medical knowledge, nature and everything they needed to sustain themselves in space. Other daily living guides and thousands of minutes worth of basic information on various subjects would be waiting in the colony's main computers. Back in Earth, all evidence of Genesis would be erased from scientific archives, as well as the existence of the colonies.

It would be a long journey until the stasis capsules would finally awaken Genesis in their new home. But once they did, their origins would be long forgotten...

It took approximately one hundred years of travel. Many randomized jumps into hyperspace to erase any evidence of Genesis whereabouts had been completed. Confused, the first Genesis individuals woke from their cryogenic slumber.

"Good morning, Evocanis..." Was the first thing they heard; a voice that came from the main computer as it gently guided them through their first day of existing as a race of their own, as well as gifting their race with a well earned name...

Nearly six hundred years later, a little black and white Evocanis of blue eyes is born... This is were D.E1 begins.
