** Anatomy and behavior of the Evocanis**

The following document explains in detail anatomical, behavioral and social characteristics of the Evocanis race. This will be presented from the author's point of view, in hopes of clearing any doubt or misinterpretation regarding his characters.

This document expresses the ideologies of D.E1's author and how he personally thinks an intelligent, sentient being could evolve if being isolated from the influence of Earth, humans and the society that we know and that we unfortunately think is absolute.

Earth is a tiny, insignificant and invisible dot in the immensity of the universe where it lies, and to think that any life form that evolves sentience at our same level will be just like earth humans is an arrogant thought.

The universe does not revolve around Earth, nor the Homo Sapiens is the pinnacle, final or only stage of sentient evolution. Earth has the privilege to live thanks to the majestic Universe. Out there, we could find an endless amount of factors and combinations that might have sprouted diverse sentient life, in which many cases it would be completely out of our understanding. Labeling them as human-like, or interpreting them under our own terms would be absolutely narrow-minded.

The two races that this author has created, the Evocanis Genesis and the Retcan Ritocubi, are amongst the uncountable sentient races around the universe. D.E's author does not see them like humans, and their behavior, customs, society are not based on nor works like ours. However, being a limited and insignificant human, this author may represent these two races in a fashion that is recognizable and easy to understand not only for him, but as well as whoever wishes to read his story. But among these similarities, their key differences are well marked and will be subject of discussion in this document.

This, again, will all be done to avoid any confusion or misinterpretation that might hurt the original intention of the character themselves, being Retcans or Evocanis.

? Understanding bipedal furred animal forms from the point of view of the author.

Many things are said about "Anthros," or "Furries,"and not different than many other artists, or enthusiasts of what most of us might know as "Anthro art," D.E1's author has his own views. Many say they are different terms, others don't know the difference, but to this author's point of view, the core of these two terms is exactly the same and don't fully represent his two sentient races. Let's discuss the two well-known terms:

Furries: Based on this author's experience among this community, a Furry is distinguished by the characteristic of being nothing more than a human with animal features. Furries don't represent the race that they are supposed to belong to most of the time. In some cases, they can exhibit physical characteristics that are unnatural to their species, such as human hair, inexplicable facial or body hair, unnatural colors, hybridization which would be completely impossible in nature, glowing body parts among other fantastic features. Some might exhibit even more human characteristics, such as fully human-like limbs, a complete lack of fur (or simply passing it out as non essential), human-like external organs and even the ability to sweat through the skin like humans do despite the species they supposedly represent are not capable of it. It is not confirmed, but after studying this movement for many years, the author might think that these Furries probably even smell like humans, in the mind of their creators.

Their behavior is human in all its forms and shapes, and most of those Furry characters that are lucky enough to have been given a back story, usually live within a society that is an exact copy of ours; in some cases even based on popular media.

Their behavior, body language, they way they express themselves and activities they perform are all within the mindset of a human being. These even include addictions such as alcohol, drugs and tobacco.

Other things would be the way they establish relationships, the use of gender roles and/or sexual preferences, social roles, how they approach and interact with others, participating in social activities like parties, listening or making music that exists in our society, attending schools, college or universities, working for money among others.

Emotionally speaking, Furries are no different than humans and can exhibit hatred towards their kind, lust, love (either tainted or pure love), friendship(in the same as love), unjustified violence, murder of their own kind, greed, envy, human-like conflict, they also base their beliefs on human taboos such as sexual preferences, the concept and awareness of nudity, marriage, gender roles, sexual roles, preconceived ideologies, the same concept humans have of what's right and wrong and in some cases even religious beliefs. In some more extreme cases, Furry characters (or Fursonas) are only meant to illustrate or express their creator's most extreme perversions and fetishes, reducing the character to a mere fictional sexual object.

That said, in most cases, Furries are nothing more than their creators representing themselves, how they wish to be in either their fantasy world or in real life. Unfortunately, their connection to their human self makes them incapable to create an environment or society that transcends our own, physically and emotionally.

Anthros: Now there is much debate within the differences of both terms, and it will greatly vary between author or artist, but the common rule is that Anthro creatures are more close to their natural, "feral" form than what Furries are. According to some artists and authors (and again, this varies greatly), Anthros represent their species much more faithfully and usually exhibit more animal-like features. Characters that are defined as "Anthro" by artists or authors that split both terms, are almost always digitigrade, they lack human hair, facial hair, their limbs are as close to their animal parts as possible, their external organs are all anatomically accurate (except for females, but that will be discussed further on), and their coats not only have natural colors, but are also emphasized so it makes it obvious that it's a furred creature.

Some artists or authors who agree with the existence of both terms, also insist that Anthros stay within a tribal setting. This however is controversial to this author's point of view, since most of these tribes are copies of well known human tribes, and these Anthro characters normally behave as tribal men. Also, this can be very contradictory due to the amount of anatomically accurate characters labeled as "Anthro" which are usually portrayed within a modern human-like environment; not to mention there isn't really any established rule about it.

There is not much to extend on this term as like this author mentioned above, not all artists or authors choose to go with them, or share the same view.

As for this author, the term Anthro (which comes from the word Anthropology and Anthropomorphic, which refers to Human-like, and the study of the Human primate), would also be incorrect to represent his races. However, because of the lack of terminology, he has no option but to adapt the term Anthro and use it from time to time to refer to his characters as speaking, sentient and bipedal animal creatures.

? The Evocanis Race

There are many points to discuss about the Evocanis Genesis. Many in which will split various segments like Anatomy, Behavior, Social Interactions, Customs and Origin.

Anatomy: Let's talk about what makes an Evocanis an Evocanis.

Evocanis are as close as possible in terms of anatomy and organism when comparing to the creatures they represent. Physically, Evocanis are bipedal versions of Earth's Canines, with slight differences that have evolved during their transition from simple quadruped mammalian life forms to the sentient bipedal mammals that they are now.

Bone structure has evolved to support the bipedal stance, but their skeletons are still very similar to those of a normal Earth Canine. Their ligaments and muscle disposition is what shows the greater change, making the Evocani's natural posture an upright bipedal stance possible. Even though they are digitigrade creatures, balance is achieved by a combination of minuscule muscular movement that happens almost involuntary and keeps their body always centered, a highly evolved sense of balance, plus their generous sized hind legs with extra padded paw pads. Their tail, even though not heavy or large in size also helps achieving balance while walking.

Speaking of the Tail , the author has worked hard on his concept to avoid what could only be described as a dead, misplaced, anatomically unnatural or simply useless appendix; a mistake that many artists make. The tail is an extension of the spine, and thus it should never come out of the mid back, perpendicular to the spine or above the pelvis like in many cases. Doing this not only makes the character lose his/her natural attributes, but also contradicts the connection between the tail and the rest of the spine.

An Evocani's tail is part of his/her spine and goes all the way down the pelvis. The exit from the body sits almost parallel to the femur joints, like in a real Canine. An easier way to understand this is by gently taking a dog and making him/her stand in its hind legs. Looking at the rear quarters, it is easy to see how an Evocanis looks, with the only difference that in an Evocanis, the muscles would be completely relaxed. Buttocks are not present as this is a unique human characteristic than even other primates don't exhibit, so giving this characteristic to a bipedal Canine not only is contradicting, but it even defeats the purpose of a tail.

As said above, Muscle disposition has indeed changed in the Evocanis, when comparing to a regular quad Canine, but the disposition is also unique enough to be different from that of the only bipedal sentient species we know as humans. Hind leg muscles, abdomen muscles, chest muscles and upper limb muscles all do the same mechanical tasks, but their appearance is very different from what we would see in our human bodies.

To name an example of how different their muscles are, we can take the chest muscles for instance; Evos have very small and almost flat chest muscles, and to create a pushing force, they rely mostly on what could only be referred as triceps and their shoulder muscles (or deltoids in humans), which are much stronger and leaned forward, somewhat attached to the chest. This gives the Evos their characteristically marked shoulders.

Their hind leg muscles are firm and almost in a wedge shape towards their rear quarters, unlike humans who have almost cylindrical leg muscles. The muscles in their lower legs, plus their tendons and ligaments are strong and made to withstand the digitigrade stance as effortlessly as a quad dog standing in its four legs.

The way muscles have evolved in Evocanis, plus their light bones have granted them outstanding flexibility, full control over their mass, superb agility, stamina, strength to weight ratio, while maintaining a light weight and slim body with a mere 4 to 6% body fat. Average weight and height of an Evocanis is around 5'0ft (1.53mt) and 48kg (108lb). There is no variation between females and males when it comes to weight and height. Pound by pound, an Evocanis is at least six times stronger than a human being.

Another interesting characteristic is that Evos might sprint on their four limbs, slowly gaining a bipedal posture as they gain speed. The use of their four limbs is also very common in high paced and demanding physical activities.

Hind Paws in Evocanis have four digits, each with their paw pads and claws identical to those of their ancestors. The skin of the Evocani's paw pads is much softer than what could be found in their ancestors. This is thought to be due to evolutionary changes triggered by the environment and pace at which the Evocanis live. Thick, rough, abrasion and temperature resistant skin is instead soft and much less scaly to the touch. It's also, unfortunately, more sensitive. A Dewclaw in an Evocani's hind paws is extremely rare and hasn't been documented in more than a couple of occasions in the past centuries.

Fore Paws always have five digits. The vestigial dewclaw is now a fully developed opposable thumb, which is closer in distance and appearance to the other four digits, forming a rather "chunky," but fully functional hand-like paw. As with their hind paws, each fore paw digit sports its own pad, as well as a claw. At the "palm" of this hand-like paw, there is a pad as well. The Carpal Pad is still present in the Evocani's wrist, however this serves no purpose anymore due to the fact that Evocanis can no longer fold their upper paws all the way parallel to their forearm. Evocanis, as their ancestors only have two functional Phalanx Bones per digit, being the Distal Phalanx so short that lacks a functional or visible joint.

Like their quad ancestors, Evocanis lack Sweat Glands around their body, and thus do not sweat through their body like humans do. The only sweat glands are located at the tip of their tongue and their paw pads. However, as with their ancestors, they will rarely sweat from their paws, and when they do it's only warm moisture. Just as their ancestors, when overheated, their tongue engorges with blood, and produces a few sweat droplets that form at the tip of their tongue. This serves as a natural radiator since thick blood vessels pass through the tongue, cooling it down before circulating through their body again.

As for body smell, the scent of an Evocanis could only be described as a faint "doggy smell." Evocanis can go days and weeks without giving themselves a bath and other than their fur getting slightly oily, they will hardly have any smell at all. Just a warm, Evo Doggy scent.

Teeth in Evocanis are identical to their quad ancestors. Their bite is predominately predator-like, composed of 42 (when adult) strong, sharp canines and scissor-like pre-molars and molars. It is noticeable that as with Canis Familiaris (and unlike Canis Lupus), Evocanis have an extra set of small flat molars that help them chew any type of food. An Evocanis bite can exert an average of 350 PSI and they will not hesitate to use their teeth as a weapon to defend themselves from any threat, if needed. Due to their saliva composition and disposition of their teeth, Evocanis naturally have a noticeably great oral hygiene and really don't need to brush their teeth. Even though their mouth is naturally clean, they do enjoy brushing at least once a day to keep their pearly whites shining, healthy gums and avoid doggy breath.

Evocanis still have Scent Glands, located close to the base of their tail, just as their Ancestors. They have however reduced their size, and barely produce any fluid, as scent marking, or scent identification (sniffing their rears) is not part of the Evocani's behavior anymore. In rare cases they might spontaneously empty under extreme stress, fear or anger, but due to their size, which has almost become vestigial, the amount of fluid is almost reduced to a few droplets.

Evocani's Senses are very sharp. They have outstanding hearing, sense of smell, and sight. A few differences are important to mention when comparing to their quad ancestors. The first major and most noticeable difference is their sense of Smell. Evocanis have a much weaker sense of smell than their ancestors, due to a reason that will be explained later in their origins section. Nevertheless, if compared with a human, an Evocani's sense of smell is much more sharper. As with their ancestors, their nose is always wet.

Their Hearing , although stronger than any human, it is also weaker than their ancestors, for the same reason that will be explained later on.

With an Evocani's Sight is were things changed. In contrast of their ancestors who only perceive tones of blue and green, Evocanis are able to perceive the full red, green and blue range, however with a much lower saturation when compared to humans. Although the sight of an Evocanis is slightly grayish, the sharpness of their sight can easily outperform by miles a 20/20 human vision. The Tapetum Lucidus is still present in their eye anatomy, giving them the ability to see fairly well in low light environments; also giving them the characteristic greenish glare seen in animals when their eyes are flashed in the darkness.

As for their Organism , Evocanis are not very different from their ancestors. However, their metabolism is different, and they are able to absorb nutrients from a wider variety of foods. This would technically classify them as Omnivores.

Evocanis are known for having a fine taste for sugar, and their body is made to process it as well as any other nutrient. The reason will be explained further on.

As their ancestors were predators, Evocanis still have a strong craving for any kind of meat protein. On a side note, Evocanis obtain their consumable meat by cultivating it. This In Vitro Meat is fully organic muscle tissue, and the genetic code obtained for it originally belonged to a mammal prey from Earth. The process has been perfected even before the first Evocanis walked in Canis Major, and carries zero risk of contracting cell disruptive or genetic diseases.

Evocanis are overall very healthy creatures and very resistant to new diseases, despite the concealed environment they have lived throughout their existence. Congenital diseases, terminal diseases and birth defects are virtually non-existent due to the genetic manipulation Evocanis were originally subject to. This is part of their origin, and it will be explained later. Thanks to their scientific and medical advances, and to the assistance of the much more advanced Retcans, Evocanis possesses the technology to treat and eliminate these threats if they ever present.

What's commonly known as Breeds within Canis Familiaris from Earth, don't work the same way in Evocanis at a genetic level. The genetic manipulation that Evocanis were subject to, eliminated any traces of inbreeding that originally lead to the creation of breeds. There are no hereditary, congenital diseases, or genetic deficiencies associated to specific breeds. Evocanis are truly one race and one breed. They do have knowledge of breeds that their ancestors were classified with, but within the Evocanis it is rarely used, and terms such as " Doberman ," " Labrador" or " Husky" are slowly becoming obsolete and unused in their language. Two Evocanis of the same "breed" or appearance will certainly give birth to another Evo of the same "breed," and two from different "breeds" will give birth to an Evocanis of mixed characteristics of both parents. But genetically, Evos no longer have a marked difference between breeds, nor a genetic link that bonds individuals of the same "Breed."

It is believed that with time (hundreds if not thousands of years), Evos will eventually turn more alike to each other and "Breed" physical characteristics will no longer be noticeable, becoming a homogenous species with only slight differences like fur or eye color, just like the Retcans. As a young species that they are, this is just beginning to show and it will progressively increase as they mix themselves with time. It is also good to note that Evos do not have a preference for individuals of their same appearance. For an Evocanis, a brother or sister Evocanis IS another Evocanis, no matter their appearance.

As an author note, (taken from a very intellectual author) Evos with the traits of Dobermans, Rottweilers or other breeds that are esthetically manipulated by humans do not show features such as cropped tails and ears. Because why would an intelligent and sentient being choose to mutilate him/herself?

Evocanis are set apart from their ancestors in the way they Develop , as well as their Longevity. An Evocanis can reach his or her full size at around three or four years of age (Earth time). They mature sexually between five and six years of age.

Strongly contrasting the Lifespan of their quad ancestors, early during their existence, a healthy Evocanis could easily live close to 50 (Earth years) of age. However, due to a sudden and still unknown genetic trigger (which will be explained later in the origins document), Evocani's life span decreased progressively until strong and healthy individuals would suddenly pass away as young as 20 years of age. This genetic disorder was rapidly spreading throughout the population and threatened to lead the Evocanis race to extinction, and it is known as the only Genetic Disease in Evocanis history. The causes of this disorder were never known, but it is theorized that the individuals who first manipulated the Evocanis caused it on purpose. Thankfully, the Retcans helped them out, and with their extensive knowledge about genetics, they slowly and painstakingly replaced that defective gene with a modified version of their own, one Evocanis at a time. This gene controls metabolism and cell regeneration, and theoretically it will extend the Evocanis life span to that of a Retcan. As this gene was fixed in the current generation, the long-term effects are yet to be seen. Thankfully, the sudden deaths have completely stopped all around the Evocani's population, and this gene is now being transmitted naturally to the newer generations. Another unexpected change has occurred, and that is older Evocanis are showing signs of cell regeneration. Evocanis lucky enough to reach ages 40 and above prior the gen repair are exhibiting brighter fur color and other physical symptoms of rejuvenation such as increased stamina, bone mass regeneration among other changes; a well earned gift for the peaceful Evocanis.

Sexual anatomy, in Evocanis is exactly like in their ancestors. Male and Female Evocanis have 100% Canine sexual organs, and these work almost identically to their ancestors.

Before continuing, a few thoughts from the author will be added to this section:

Throughout the years that D.E1 author has been in the Anthro artist community, he has noticed discrepancies and contradictions regarding the portrayal of what the community knows as " Anatomical Correctness." Most represent their male canine characters perfectly well, if with some common mistakes (which is perfectly understandable, since not many have a dog at hand to serve as model reference, or know basic canine anatomy). However, the portrayal of females around the Anthro artist community is disappointingly inconsistent, to the point of artists claiming that Anatomically Correct males are fine, but that females feel wrong, so is best to draw them like human females to identify them as females. And the few that dare to portray a female "correctly," create hideous abominations with massive multiple mammary glands, and misplaced oversized genitals, just for the purpose of sexual display.

Getting back to subject; Evocanis are NOT** Sexually Dimorphic**creatures just as their ancestor quad Canines and unlike humans. Meaning that one will not notice a physical difference between a Female and a Male Evocanis, other than their genitalia. Evocanis are known for having a neutral physique. Male Evocanis don't exhibit a larger muscle mass, as Females don't exhibit broader hips, or prominent mammary glands; characteristics that are only common among bipedal sentient beings like humans. Both male and female Evocanis exhibit the exact body mass and proportions, and differences are based more in the individual's "breed," rather than gender.

Males do have a deeper voice though, contrasted by the very characteristic soft tone of voice of females. Females have five pairs of mammary glands, as their quad ancestors. These have no fat tissue and are flat to their torso and abdomen, being nearly invisible. These only get slightly swollen when the female Evocanis gives birth and feeds her young, but it's mostly the last two pairs in her lower belly.

Pregnancy in Evocanis lasts two months, and the female will give birth to either one or two with not much effort due to the small size of the pups. It is interesting to mention that Evocanis pups look almost identical to their quad ancestors when born and their limbs and overall bone structure will change as they grow up during the next three or four months.

Reproduction in Evocanis is slightly difficult, and a bit different than with their ancestors. Mostly due to physical characteristics that will be explained briefly. Evocanis females, unlike their quad ancestors who are fertile twice a year, are only fertile once a year for a couple of days at the most. This apparently became more erratic when the defective gene was replaced. It seems that fertility and longevity don't go in hand.

Another factor that might play against is that being intelligent and sentient beings, Evos are not stuck to mate exclusively as their ancestors did (male behind female). However, in most cases, that is usually how it comes naturally for them. Evocanis are very loving, caring; physical creatures and the gentle contact might make both Evos get sexually aroused before they mate. Due to how their sexual organs work, if aroused, a male's penis might get too engorged to even get out of its sheath, and the inner walls of the female's vagina too tight, completely obstructing penetration.

If an Evocanis couple manages to mate, the act itself won't last more than a minute. If tied, both Evos will gently and carefully lay down next other, hug tenderly and rest until they are able to separate.

Evocanis are usually focused on their pure emotions, even if they are aware of what they are experiencing physically. But this will be explained more in the behavior section.

Behavior, Social interactions and Customs:

This is a vast subject that could extend for many pages, but the basics will be explained as accurate as possible.

Behavior in Evocanis can be considered standard for every individual. Meaning that Evos tend to behave very similar, even though every individual maintains personality traits that are unique to each. But the rule of thumb is that Evocanis are very Serene , Loving and Affectionate creatures. Evocanis don't exhibit aggression against their own, and they all seem to function as one; as if their minds were somehow linked.

Conflicts rarely exist, if they aren't completely nonexistent. This is given due to various facts, mainly attributed to the way their brain has evolved. Although not geniuses or master minds, Evos are in average very intelligent, and their brain seemed to have develop in such way that their physical senses and self-consciousness work in absolute harmony.

This peaceful nature can also be attributed to the lack of social distress. Things like religion, unfounded beliefs, laws, prejudice, taboo, governments, nations, monetary systems, labor, among other things don't exist in the Evocanis society. This greatly improves their mental sanity, physical health and quality of life, turning them into an authentic, mentally ascended society. Evos have a truly pure uninterested bond; an unmatched loyalty (most of the time to the point of giving their life for another Evo, even if they don't know him/her) to their kind and their emotional bond transcends anything that other sentient beings such as humans would never be able to experience.

Evos could easily be perceived as naive, however, they are very aware of what goes on in their surroundings. They are indeed very innocent creatures, and even when they recently interacted with corrupt life forms such as humans, their heart and soul proved incorruptible.

Due to the reasons that will be explained later on in their origins, Evocanis lack the instinct and drive of territorial or competitive behavior amongst their kind. This also contributes to their peaceful nature. However, they are extremely protective of their own when facing hostile sentient beings such as space human aliens or most noticeably, Project Apocalypse, and can easily turn from serene creatures into fierce beasts. They, however, do not act out of impulse, and will show themselves calm while they examine the possible threat, being ready to act at the slightest sign of hostility shown against them.

Evocanis Social Interactions can be described as relaxed and worry free. Two Evocanis, even when meeting for the first time will feel excited, yet as comfortable with each other as if they have met throughout their entire life. Evocanis unconsciously perceive each other as extensions of themselves. They are aware of each others feelings at all time and love to mutually make each other happy.

Physical contact amongst Evocanis is not only common, but also very important. They enjoy petting, caressing, hugging, nuzzling and licking each other. This gives both of them a soothing sense of warmth and helps forge bonds. Feeling the tender contact, while they feel the warmth and scent of their fellow Evocanis is what makes life worth for the Evocanis.

Gender** Roles and ***Awareness* is something that is non-existent in the Evocanis society. Males can show these signs of affection either to Females or other Males alike, and the same way goes to Females. They are very aware of the small physical difference between both genders, but for Evos that's just a technicality. No specific behavior or obligation is expected from either gender. Evocanis are Evocanis for them, no matter the gender and they do feel the same emotional and even physical bond towards members of the opposite or the same gender. Both Males and Females behave exactly alike and don't exhibit any characteristic behavior that could be related to their gender.

As with gender roles, Social Roles are virtually nonexistent, in contrast to Human society where labels like Father, Mother, Sibling, Family Member, Acquaintance, Friend, Love Interest or Spouse have all their established place in society, each with roles to fulfill and goals that are expected. Most of these terms do not exist in the Evocanis society, and the very few that do are not even taken with the same seriousness or importance as with humans. All Evocanis see themselves as one, and all Evocanis feel an unconditional love for each other. No one expects anything specific from anyone. All Evos are immensely grateful that they can share their life with their kind. It's the only thing that drives them and makes them happy.

A good example of this is an Evocanis and his/her offspring. They won't see each other differently or treat each other differently than they would with another Evocanis throughout their entire life. However, they will be aware of that special bond that relates them, making their friendship somewhat special, warmer and stronger. Calling their progenitors "Father" or "Mother" is highly uncommon. Same way as Evos never call their offspring "Son," unless it's for technical purposes, such as telling others, "This is Husky. He is my son," if asked specifically. Even in that situation, they most likely say "I gave birth to him..." or something similar. All Evos, no matter who they are will call each other by their name.

Due to what is explain above, defining Social Relationships in Evocanis is rather difficult and must be seen with an open mind, or analyzed with an "outside the box" mindset. Evocanis don't know terms and concepts like Marriage, Boyfriend, Girlfriend, Crush, Fiancé, Friends with benefits or other forms of unnatural and imposed Social Relationship Rituals. As said above, all Evocanis love each other equally and will show the same level of affection towards others.

However, there are Evocanis that might form a much Stronger and Special Bond under certain circumstances. External forces such as the attacks that almost extinguished the Evocanis race might've created bonds between individuals that lost it all and everyone. A good example would be Laser the Chihuahua Evocanis and Lay the Malamute. They both had a family, and even offspring, however they lost it all to the vicious machines. They both found each other between the chaos and helped each other survive. Since then, they have formed an unbreakable bond. Under human understanding, this bond could label them as a couple, however this label is invalid since in the Evocanis society it doesn't exist. This is a proof that gender is something that does not matter in the Evocanis mindset.

Another example of these special bonds might be two Evocanis who just meet and unconsciously start understanding how similar they are. This special bond will make these two Evocanis think on each other constantly and seek the company of each other in a more than regular basis. This, again, is not subject to gender. This can happen between Evocanis of the same or opposite gender.

In other cases, a regular bond between two Evocanis might be reinforced if they somehow manage to produce offspring (of course, in the case of opposite gender Evocanis since same gender individuals logically can't produce offspring). Or in a different case, if this Special Bond occurs before, they might eventually produce offspring.

As said before, Evocanis are not tied to concepts such as Marriage. However, if two Evocanis produce offspring, they will most likely stay close together throughout their life. This is not imposed by a social rule, but rather comes out naturally to them. This will not prevent either of both Evocanis from forming bonds with others, but they will not produce offspring with someone else. In the case that it happened accidentally, the Evocanis involved would most likely form a small "pack" by joining all families involved and live together happily and with absolutely no remorse. This is however is extremely rare and only a few instances have been documented throughout the existence of the Evocanis. There isn't any "pack" families documented in the current generation of Evocanis.

Sexual Contact is something not seen as a taboo or something questionable in the Evocanis society. It is something seen as natural as eating or sleeping. It is also not done as a shallow act, or to satisfy sexual desire. Sexual contact in Evocanis usually happens between two individuals that have formed that strong Special Bond , and interacting sexually usually strengthens the bond. However this might also occur casually out of pure curiosity or playfulness between two Evocanis that recently met, and this might lead them to either form a very special friendship, or even the before-mentioned Special Bond. It is important to mention that Evocanis don't interact sexually out of lust or perversion. Sexual interaction for an Evocanis comes out of the love and emotional attraction they feel for their kind. Sexual contact can and will happen between Evocanis of the same or opposite gender, as mentioned before.

Entering into details is not necessary, but it is also important to mention to avoid any misinterpretations. Evocanis do not perform shallow and perverted acts in seek for meaningless sexual pleasure. Evocanis have such a strong emotional bond, which is what primarily feeds their need of being together, and that in some cases might lead them to interact sexually. Sexual contact is mostly unintended and it happens out of the need of being close to another Evocanis. In most cases, this emotional bond is enough to fill an Evocani's body with an intense pleasure. If two Evocanis were ever to engage into sexual contact, it is the love and joy of sharing a tender moment with one of their kind that involuntarily triggers an orgasm. A slight caress, licking, pressing against each other tenderly, hugging and sometimes even touching playfully is all they need to experience a warm and loving moment.

Actual mating rarely happens between male and females when on casual encounters, even though it might happen out of playful curiousness. This, however, might become more common between Evocanis with that Special Bond.

Evocanis are aware of the dangers of inbreeding, and have a natural instinct to avoid it. However, due to the playful, innocent and curious nature of the Evocanis, plus that need of being close to their kind that might lead them to sexual contact, mild contact of this kind between blood relatives might occur. This although it happens under the same circumstances it occurs with unrelated Evocanis, it is far less frequent.

About Customs and other behavioral aspects of the Evocanis, terms like Nudity is a concept that is inexistent within Evocanis. Vanity, physical appearance standards, fashion trends or shame are also unknown and inexistent in the Evocanis society. Evocanis often prefer not wearing clothes, and they can casually show themselves on their fur to other Evocanis regardless of their age, gender or if they are blood related or not. This will have no implications whatsoever, as the Evocanis society is free of any taboo.

The reason Evocanis use clothes is more of a protection reason. Their ships, especially the D.E Cruisers are kept at an extremely low temperature and some Evocanis don't have a double layer of fur to protect their bodies. Cold doesn't bother them at all, however it is much more comfortable to wear attire that keeps them warmer so they can focus on their daily activities instead of focusing on the temperature. Some of their outfits are also meant to protect them from various hazards, in case an Evocanis has the task to maintain industrial areas of a ship, or work in more dangerous areas like hangars which are subject to hazardous items, chemicals or even things that could physically injure them.

Another reason for them to wear clothes is for identification purposes. Members of the D.E1 Squad like Husky, wear uniforms designed specifically for them. And it is to note that Evocanis somewhat like wearing clothes, although they perceive it more as something amusing and fun to do. Most of the times, however, especially when on their quarters and if they don't really have nothing to do; they will gladly just wear the soft and beautiful coat of fur that nature gave them.

Day to day activities for a normal Evocanis doesn't include much. Evocanis have a strong sense of responsibility and caring for others, so many Evocanis will perform daily tasks to maintain their colony working perfectly. There is no such thing as interchange of valuables, money, or imposed labor in the Evocanis society. Everyone does something for the rest in a daily basis, and they do it not because they are obligated to, but because it comes from them instinctively. These activities go from simple things as maintaining Canis Major clean, to more complicated tasks as manufacturing food for the entire colony, being a Zone Keeper, attending crops, or maintaining engineering areas of the ship.

Of course, responsibilities that require highly technical or scientific knowledge are attended by Evocanis who have dedicated their life studying these. Occupations such as Medics, Defense Squad Members, Scientists and Engineers are trained more seriously and for a longer period of time and most likely they will dedicate their life to it.

Training and Education is part of the Evocanis since young. There is no obligation for anyone to train and become an expert in any specific field; but things as reading, language study, basic science and mathematical knowledge are give to every Evocanis throughout their lives. If with time an Evocanis feels he/she wants to have a much serious training on more delicate fields, such as becoming a Medic or Scientist, additional and more intense training will be provided. There are no rules, timelines or qualifications to follow though, and anyone can do this at their own pace.

Evocanis have evolved to have a full understanding of what they learn with very little if no reviewing at all. It doesn't take an Evocanis too long to fully comprehend a new subject and ultimately master it. Of course, there are natural limitations, and some Evocanis might be better in some fields, while other Evocanis in different ones.

Evocanis are virtually like a computer programmed to learn. This is seen throughout their life, as Evocanis are heavily drawn to new things, and learning them. Especially anything that has to do with science, nature and technology.

The methods Evocanis use to learn are complex. They rely not only in their agile brain, but also on technologic aids. Ever since an Evocanis is developed enough to be able to express him/herself, they are placed through basic knowledge trainings. This greatly accelerates their development and by the age of five, Evos have pretty much mastered basic science, mathematical and language knowledge.

These technological aids come in the form of what Evocanis know as Learning Enhancers. A small tiara-like object is placed in the Evocani's head, and small electrical impulses help the brain absorb all the information given in one read or learning session. A small visor that produces mild light patterns stimulating the learning area of the brain also helps with this.

In comparison, what could take a human a full Earth year to begin grasping, an Evocanis can master in matter of a month or two, all thanks to their natural ability to absorb information plus the artificial Learning Enhancers.

Once basic knowledge is imprinted in the Evocani's brain, they are free to live their lives as it is, or if they like, as said before, they can choose to train further for more complicated and specialized fields.

There are no schools, universities, colleges and other learning institutes known by men in the Evocanis Society. Their learning is done at the Zone they live or even in their living quarters, at their own pace and with no schedules or obligations. However, more technical fields of study are done in assigned Zones within Sectors of Canis Major, or in the case of the D.E Squad, outside Canis Major in space, on board a D.E Cruiser.

Daily living supplies and other goods are restocked on a weekly basis to Zones within Sectors. Every Zone Complex has it's own supply storage facility and Zone Keepers are in charge of restocking every zone at a specific time, or upon request. Supplies such as food, hygiene items, and clothing are all produced in the industrial Sector of Canis Major. Resources all come from Canis Major, whether is recycled, produced or grown. Everything is carefully kept and monitored so nothing is used more than it is produced. Not only Zone Keepers, Resource Managers, but also regular Evocanis Population is responsible for the maintenance of their environment and resources. Due to the strong sense of responsibility and care for their kind, this comes natural and it isn't at all a problem for Evocanis.

One might think that Food is something very delicate and difficult to obtain if one lives in space. Canis Major is a massive space colony ship made with all the necessary to sustain a healthy population. Evocanis have the space and resources to maintain dedicated Sectors for crop cultivation, which is where they get most of their food, in the form of grains or fruits. Water is recycled, gathered by condensation or synthesized, so there is no risk of ever running out of the precious fluid. Animal protein is much more delicate to obtain, but being essentially Omnivore creatures, Evocanis need animal protein. Things such as milk are a synthesized version of their own, and meat is grown In-Vitro. The rest are organic meals based on grains, like bread, sweet treats, fruit juices among other prepared meals based on vegetable safe for the Evocanis to consume. The old computer archives in Canis Major, not only had information on how to prepare thousands of different meals based on the food resources in Canis Major, but also how to maintain these resources permanently.

The life of an Evocanis.

A regular Evocanis usually goes through a very mild and low paced day. It all starts when he or she wakes up somewhat early in the morning. Depending on the breed, an Evo will probably brush his/her fur thoroughly, or have someone help. This also serves a bonding moment for them.

Breakfast is usually the first thing an Evocanis will dig into and it will probably consist of something light, such as a cookie and a glass of warm milk. After spending an hour or two with his/her loved one's, and Evocanis might go out his/her room and stretch around his Zone while he greets his/her fellow Zone mates. Mild morning activities might involve going to the learning room (if the Evocanis is still young, or if it's an adult Evocanis in search of more knowledge), helping around the Zone to clean it (although each Evocanis usually takes care of their own room), or simply sitting in one of the many couches and talk with other Evocanis.

Later on, and when their responsibilities are fulfilled, a fully awakened Evocanis might go out the Zone and engage in more physical activities, such as playing in the green areas of the complex, exercising in the gym or simply going for a long walk outside the Zone Complex.

During this period, some Evocanis like to simply catch a tram and get lost in Canis Major. They might come back late during the night, or disappear for a couple of days. Husky and his family are known for doing this every now and then, and the activities involve are just going to random Sectors and meeting new Evocanis. If it gets late, they are usually invited to stay in a Zone. They also might go to the engineering zones or hangar to assist, learn or be around their scientist or engineer Evocanis brothers.

Other Evocanis are much more slowly paced and enjoy just staying in their Zone complex along with their Zone mates.

Evocanis normally don't eat lunch, and rather just take a long nap if they aren't away their Zone or Sector, although they might jut take a nap wherever they are at the moment. They might prepare lunch if they didn't eat breakfast. If in home, Evocanis love taking baths at this time and do so at least every day. They love sharing this warm and relaxing moment with someone else, whether if it's someone they met, friend or family member.

During evenings, Evocanis love to cook something special. Normally they cook regular meals and sweets too. Evocanis are known for loving to prepare food in many exquisite ways and other races such as the Retcans appreciate this very much. They might enjoy a science documentary from the thousands in their archives or the ones done by them, or play a form of video games, which are made to exercise their brains. If they haven't had a bath earlier in the afternoon, they will do at this moment.

After that, it's bed time. A good night sleep for an Evocanis is not complete if they can't spend it as close as possible with their family members or that special one that fills their life, keeping each other warm for the rest of the night. The next morning, the wonderful life of the Evocanis starts all over again...
