The Sable Islands

An island chain nestled in the middle of the Pacific, east of Tokelau and North of the Cook Islands, this series of Islands is a destination hotspot if you are looking for anything out of the ordinary, ranging from drugs to weapons, and this is the place to find it. The natives of this island are mainly friendly except for the resident Maori tribe who don't take kindly to any pirates who set-up their base-of-operations here on the island but let's give you a little history on the island. In World War II, when the Japanese were pushing to claim the Pacific, The Sable islands were chosen for a secret project to intercept US Naval shipments but were soon cut off to any resources once the American Pacific campaign spearheaded towards the Solomon Islands.

The Southeastern Island is rich with History, having a long abandoned submarine base and a beached Imperial destroyer on its North Shore that serves as a tomb for natives' Japanese ancestors. Aside from the Empire of Rising Sun's influence on Sable, it also shares a set of dark secrets with the Third Reich's scientific experiments with a Mad Doctor by the name of Eric Vonn Eisling, a brilliant researcher and geneticist who came to the island before the Fall of Berlin to the Allies to continue his work. Dr. Eisling was one of the brightest yet secretive minds to grace the Nazi's Hidden Echelons of society, possessing an IQ of 250, He didn't care about the party's ideology but more about working without having to worry about ethics to hold him back.

The Doctor himself though was fascinated with modifying genes to create superior specimens that were great both in mind and body as well as spiritually, having undergone numerous expeditions to Egypt's Valley of the Kings. Once he arrived on the Sable Islands to discover that Japanese soldiers began intermingling with the islanders, Dr. Vonn Eisling saw the perfect opportunity to begin his project he codenamed "AQUARIUS", as he started collecting samples from both natives and the Japanese under the guise of being a personal Physician for a supposedly high ranking officer. It was paradise for his research to continue with the variety of genes and phenotypes available, including three males who he diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome.

Back in Germany, Dr. Vonn Eisling was a follower of Han Aspergers' research involved with children, wondering how this syndrome affected the brain itself and the genetic structure of each individual child. Sadly, he hadn't the time to perform any studies with said children due to prior responsibilities with analyzing the results of Mengele's experiments and other Nazi hoodwink. The Sable islands were a long awaited relief for the "Good" Doctor, having the chance to place a mark in the world that would soon be felt later in 21st century when the first generation of Espers came about in 2016.

While the Dr. Vonn Eisling was playing matchmaker for the islanders and its new residents for the next 40 years, an Australian Agricultural company stumbled upon the island and its rich reserves of bat guano in the 1980's, soon setting up the island's current infra-structure, mainly roads and a small port using the northern Island's natural harbor. The problem was the most of the natives were superstitious of bats, having traditionally associated the caves they dwelled in with death and sickness, as well as the fact that their local "Physician" explained the diseases commonly found in the winged mammals. The Company soon started importing workers from South America and Southeast Asia, though placed little importance on a background checks which led to a band of pirates chasing off the company and seizing every facility on the island. The pirates soon started manufacturing gunpowder and explosives for the next ten years, helping fuel various revolts and coup d'etats over the decade until the native Maori had enough of them then went to war with them.

After the relative peace and quiet in the early 90's, a Yakuza underboss decided to branch out on his own to form the Sut?muraid?zu Shipping Company, which was front for smuggling drugs and weapons from the Western Hemisphere over into Eastern Asia, as well as vice versa. He further improved upon the Island's infrastructure by introducing the Internet and a power grid to the island while selling bootleg electronics from third party companies in China and Japan that nonetheless impressed the natives, allowing him to stay. The Sable islanders soon were captivated by the technology then found themselves soon employed at the island's now expanded pier, working for modest wages that enabled them to acquire most goods available on the internet.

Guns are fairly commonplace on the Island, at least every native owns some form of firearm, ranging from Bolt-Action Arisaka family that have been repaired over the decades to AR-15 Models produced by various American manufacturers to authentic Russian weapons. The Sable Islands are littered with explosives, which is why most of the tribal elders have made an agreement to safely store or dispose of them by selling them to local Arms Merchant since there is munitions that have been laying around since the 1940's that are liable to explode at any given second without warning. Swords and Knives are also found the natives' homes, since many of them are Heirlooms passed down from generation to generation, some are antiques that were made by craftsman while a few are one of the mass produced replicas that still hold some sentimental value to the family.

The Reason why you don't hear about the Sable islands is because Dr. Vonn Eisling and his Son Gerald Vonn Eisling have gone to great lengths to keep the Island a secret in order to continue their research unhindered. The Remoteness of the Islands also plays into the factor that it takes about three weeks for any shipping vessel to make it to the Island's port from the western hemisphere, four if from the East. Air drops are commonly utilized throughout the island when it comes to delivering goods since the heavy rains often to flood out the roadways from time to time, or when sensitive items need to be delivered without prying eyes, namely pirates, deciding to tackle trucks for the resources.

Aside the normal politics of the island, this still doesn't deter the adventurous type from coming to the island by chartering a plane or a sailboat from the nearby Cook Islands. On a rare occasion, since Dr. Erik Vonn Eisling passed away, Gerald will invite individuals who he deems exceptional in talent or ability to come to the island for a paid vacation, often someone who is an Advent or an Esper by using his connections in the Esper Sanctuary Program. Dr. Vonn Eisling utilizes their visits in order to collect DNA samples to progress his own project dubbed "Jehovah", a continuation of Aquarius but with modifications to the original plan due to the rise of Individuals with psychokinetic abilities presenting a new set of Phenotypes available.

Beyond the History, come enjoy the Sable islands, the Sun, the Surf and the pearl sand beaches that go on for miles, or perhaps diving through the wreckage of a lost US navy destroyer. Go Sun bathe on a beach with pirates, explore an abandoned submarine base, or join the natives in their celebrations after the sun sets, there is fortunes to be made and adventures to be had... if you can survive the dangers...
