The Dark Cell: Failed EscapeBy darkmaster03September 20, 2014

6:41am A giant robotic obstruction rose up from the ground. "Ich bin

Catto!, Ich bin Catto!" Its left eye was flashing red high above, as it spoke

some more unintelligible words from its robotic lips. Soon after a gaseous

substance began to spray forth from its oddly shaped ears. Slowly the gas cloud

drifted downward, I ran past it, only after the sweet aroma touched my nose.

Running a few more yards, I looked back at the flashing red eye having eerily

turned in my direction. Out of breath from pure exhilaration, I gulped in as

much air as I could before turning and breaking into a dash. Nearly crashing

into another robotic monstrosity rising out of the ground. Caught by surprise,

my feet slid to a stop as I landed on my bum. My eyes travelling upward, I

stared in dumbfounded awe at the metallic obstruction as it blared to life.

It's flashing red eye, swirled in a hypnotic fashion. This one spoke in their

native language, with a cute friendly tone. "Fellow citizen, if you go any

further, you will be killed. There is still time to turn back." It said.  I kept going. Running past it, a yard or two more out in the

distance I stopped to look back. My hands were on my knees, I was breathing

heavily. The metal cat, having turned its infrared gaze, intent on seeing which

way I was walking. Feeling light headed, I coughed up a single drop of blood

before something exploded to my left. I felt an impact hit me on the left side,

the violent push knocked me off my feet, and sent me flying to the right with

tremendous force. Landing hard on the pebbled dirt, my ears rang with a high

pitched whine as I sat up. Looking at the pool of blood which had been expelled

from my mouth and my nose, I sat in a hunched over position overcome with

exhaustion. Off in the distance I saw a black figure rise from the ground,

thinking it was another metallic obstruction I shrugged it off. When it began

to approach, that's when my heart skipped a beat and I felt overcome by a

panicked tremble. The distant silhouette sent tremors through the earth, and

as it loomed closer I recognized it as the scientist whom I belonged to. His

eyes were but slits in the bright otherworldly sun, his gaze focused onto me as

he took immense strides. With look of sadistic, hateful, contempt on his face

as each paw pressed into the soft ground with a powerful shocking thud. I could

tell that the scientist was beyond angry, beyond the point of reason. As both

paws were placed a great width apart, my tiny form was insignificantly huddled

between immense black furred paws. I looked up at the towering monstrosity

looming above. Jaws parted and unleashed a single powerful roar. With it he brought

tears into my eyes and instilled an everlasting fear into my very being as I

covered my ears, shivering with terror. Feeling the ground tremble as his weight shifted, my eyes

turned to see one of his massive paws compact the ground tightly. Pressing into

the rough earth with tremendous pressure, the fluffy toes sank just a bit

before the ground would no longer yield. I saw just a small sliver of his sharp

white claws peek from the slits in those massive toes, as his paw came to a

stop. I began to sob as my eyes gazed at the massive heel in the distance,

following the black contour of silky fur to a large pad long enough to crush

twenty of me across its leathery surface. Three clawed toes began to slowly

lower down as I shook my head, coughing up blood. The pressure squeezed the air

from my lungs, as my vision faded in an agonizingly slow and painful death.

When everything turned black, I waited to hear the audible crunch of my ribs

breaking, but the scientist stopped himself. As I overheard muffled roars, I

desperately needed to breathe, using whatever strength I could muster. My jaw

ground open, as my lips parted against the rough pad, using my tongue I poked

at the heavy leathery surface covering my mouth. Tasting bits of sand and rock,

I didn't care for the texture, the act of desperation gave just enough room for

a tiny bit of musky, but still breathable air. The paw peeled off of me, as the mountainous feline was

dragged back by two of his own. Their grips firmly securing the black furred scientist,

dragging him away from my barely alive corpse. I heard his roars of frustration

echo up from the elevator, as he was bitterly trying to return to a cool

demeanor. Lying on the ground, every breath of air I gasped came at such a

painful price but, I endured it all. Time seemed to slow down more than ever,

as my senses returned some ribs were cracked but not a single one broken, I sat

up and slowly tumbled forward. Managing to stand up, I stood in place for a

long time, my world was spinning out of control. Dizzy and disoriented, as I

took my first step I began stumbling diagonally to the left, I lost all balance

as I came to the edge of that large depression in the earth, and I fell into

the paw print as my vision turned to darkness. ...I don't remember how I even got out of my cell. No coherent

memories of a continuous series of events leading up to being there. I was

never outside, it was all a clever simulation to see how far I could run. I

have always been an indoor cat.
