Mike gets in trouble

This is part of my Preying on the Past and Two World Collides storylines. Just a little vignette that I thought of today for some humor...or something else. Appropriate for all ages...but shrekish humor.

Also this was put together in about 30 min and not proofread.

My paws thudded along the path, the cool air of the forest tickling my nose as breathed in an out in my regular rhythm. It felt good to be off for a day or so, my mind free not to think of the daily clusterfucks and dangers of work. Yeah, it may have burned a few days of vacation, but I had spent the last four years maxed out so I could justify some fun.

The vibration and sound of Iron Maiden graced my ears as my phone went off, my pace barely slowing as I slipped the phone from the sleeve on my wrist and bringing it towards my maw. With the sensitivity of these lupine ears, hearing the call would be easy.

"Hart"

"Michael , You Fucking Bastard! What the hell did you do to her?"

"Whoa! Whoa, whoa. What is wrong, David?"

"You...You...You...You taught her how to play with rope?"

"Uhhh...she asked?"

"She's stuck!"

"Aw, hell" I snarled into the phone as I took a second path, knowing I could loop around toward the edge of the park.

"What were you smoking to teach her that? You didn't think she would use it? I have half a min to call your mate and have you in stainless bracelets, you bastard."

"Dave, Dave. I figured she could handle it?"

"Did you show her yourself, bastard?"

"Uhm...maybe..." I obfuscated as I got close to the edge of the trees, thankful that the Anderson's home was close to the woods. The town was all Lycan, but the streets were still state streets. God only knew who was on the roads.

"Mike, I know Sarah looks up to you and trusts you, but if you keep corrupting her, I'll do what Dailis couldn't." I could hear the snarl echoing through his voice.

"Dave, I swear. It was all innocent."

"It was ropework, you bastard. You got her all tied up. She's not that old!"

My thoughts were pounding through my head. I had told her never to do anything I showed her alone. She needed a trustworthy partner to keep her safe in the various evolutions I had taught her. A mistake could really screw up your life.

"I warned her how dangerous it was. I told her that her partner needed to be real trustworthy for any type of ropework. It's not my fault she didn't listen."

It was only a few moments more to the house, an each of my steps tore up a bit of the grass on the side of the lawns, sticks and stones kicking up in my wake as I ran as close to the woods as I could, hopping the occasional fence and stone wall as I got closer.

I stifled a chuckle as I hung up the phone, slipping it back into the holster on my sleeve as I hopped the final wall, the brick covered house looming as I slipped around the corner until I saw her window.

"Sarah! What did you do this time?" I could only chuckle as I looked to the second floor, a tangled mass of rope and child hanging from the window. "You would have thought you would have learned after you lit the lawn on fire."

Even my ears couldn't understand her muffled response as I saw her father by the door.

"I swear I told her not to try rapelling without me."

David just smirked and shook his head.

"Let's go clean up her mess again."
