A short story about a intense situation with two special friends and a serial killer

_ "It can't be happening! It can't! It mustn't!"_ In great shock Georg thought with his eyes glancing with great fear and a mouth slightly open, trying to say something but unable to produce any sound. His tail was stiff, resisted any kind of free movement while his shaking hand held a gun; the very gun that fatefully wounded his only supporting pillar in his life. He stood there as a 19 year old sled dog as the only one in his remaining, living family to have light brownish, soft fur. He was dressed in dark green shirt with Earth implanted on it and trousers that matched his fur.

Dan was standing there, confused at first but when he heard and bang and saw Georg held a gun, put two and two together he understood that the one who had fallen in love with him had probably destined his coming death. Dan was a beautiful red 23 year old fox, dressed in this situation with dark clothes to match the switched off lights for better chances of hiding.

"DAN!" yelled Georg spontaneously with an unstable voice threw the gun to the floor and ran towards Dan with a breath that was uncontrollable, gave some short and heavy breaths. Georg could see that Dan tried to stand up firmly but the wound was clear now when the blood had begun to pour of his clothes, gave a very dark and ominous color, resulting Dan slowly going down with his hand placed at the side of the stomach area.

In the moment that Georg ran towards Dan Georg knew he might as well have killed them both in this very grim situation and he realized that his spontaneous action to run towards Dan probably had given the information for their whereabouts in the mansion where the serial killer was on loose. What he knew about the killer was that the killer suffered from some sort of a disorder. They both got separated from each other while they ran from the killer and ended up in Dan's family's mansion. When they've entered the mansion without knowing that they were inside there together and Georg had the gun since Dan thought that Georg needed it the most. When they were in the mansion, tried to hide, they got closer to each other without knowing. Out of shock and fear Georg shot towards the sounds of steps and ended shooting at his own crush.

"What have I done?! Why do I easily get this anxious and nervous?" was among few thoughts Georg had while he ran awkwardly towards Dan. As Georg arrived Dan had collapsed completely and Georg could hear slow, distant steps on the other side of the mansion. Georg quickly kneeled down and tried to take Dan under his arm to carry away from this place as fast as possible.

"Georg... get the gun..." whispered Dan where every word seemed to get weaker than the previous ones "We need it..."

"I'm so sorry!" whispered Georg as well who now had calmed slightly down and tried to get his anxiety and nervousness under control "We don't have time...!"

With more penetrating voice Dan reused his words, still whispering: "Get it! We need it!"

Georg hesitated at first and seriously really didn't want to go silently to where he had thrown the gun but he saw the logic behind Dan words and placed Dan behind the corner of the angled corridor non-verbally. He tiptoed as much as he could while still have the speed of mouse. Georg wished that he had the stealthy character as a fox had but shook the thought away as there were far greater thing to take care of.

The steps were slow but it sounded like that it was a lot closer that expected.

Georg had difficulty to look for the gun as it was dark as the darkness in the corridor. He felt that he was warm and had begun to sweat through the fur. As soon he positioned himself where he threw the gun he looked where he thought he would spontaneously throw it and to his luck he saw it immediately as the light from the moon of the night gave it away. He hastily took it and ran silently back to Dan but when he turned around the corner he couldn't see Dan and instead he saw a small trail of blood where it led to another room across the angled corridor. His heart made somersaults and was galloping so he could hear it. Had the killer found Dan and dragged him to the room or was it Dan himself that did it without him knowing? Georg wished dearly it was the last. In his chaotic mind he tried again to calm himself and regain some of his control as he had few seconds earlier. He wished withal of his life that Dan was alright since Dan was the only person who had for serious supported him in these times where his parents had been killed by this madman.

He remembered when his parents were still alive. They just moved into this neighborhood because he couldn't get along with his former classmates because of his anxiety and nervousness. They've heard that the school nearby was specially made for young anthros with special needs. In that school he met Dan whom he found quite appealing because of his quite outgoing personality contra his own; a shy and timid nature who preferred to be alone. Dan took initiative to talk to him at some point and he got surprised by this sudden kindness by a person he barely knew. In the end they began to hang out more and Georg got more feelings that like for Dan. Georg did then at one point tell Dan about his feelings and didn't get rejected nor accepted: Dan explained that he appreciated his presence but didn't want to commit yet as he was still unsure both about his sexuality and his feelings for Georg. They agreed to still hang out as special friends. Then some weeks ago one of his fellow students got weird and began to show sign of strange behavior; at one moment he was kind and a bit timid then in another moment he was destructively aggressive. The teachers and staff members thought they had it under control but apparently clearly underestimated the situation of the evicted student. Out of nowhere some of the students and their parents got murdered brutally but with sign of weird acts since most of them did alarm the police about their eviction but the police never seemed to catch the culprit.

As Georg walked cautiously and slowly towards the room where the trail of blood leaded he heard that someone tried to say something but got silenced by another one. He readied his gun.

"But what if I come to shoot Dan again? What if he's already dead? Will I die soon?" was few questions among many he asked himself in this seemingly impossible situation.

He entered the room... what he saw what not something he expected: It was one of the good and clever students of his school that had dragged Dan into this room and tried to keep him quiet from the killer. It was a bull terrier clothed in sophisticated shirt and pants and was approximately 20-21 years old. How he came into the dark mansion, find Dan and drag him into the room without alarming the killer was a mystery for both of them but Georg was relieved that they were not alone anymore about this dangerous incidence and thought that Dan thought it as well.

Georg walked over to them and kneeled down in front of them. Georg asked what he wanted to know: "Who are you? Is he alright?"

With a few seconds of silence the bull terrier looked at Georg looking like he was munching the question he was asked but looked down at Dan and answered: "Name's Garry. And you?"

"Georg" he nodded and looked behind him at the door to the room. It seemed that the steps had stopped.

"I am afraid that your friend is fatally injured" mumbled Garry silently and looked down at Dan with a troubled face and continued "He needs immediate medical attention!"

"There's... a telephone in the room right beside this room" managed Dan to say who looked like that he could faint at any second.

"I'll go silently and try to call the emergency line" responded Garry and went out of the room determined.

As Garry left Georg felt an incredible huge guilt and fear growing: Through the weeks where his parents had been dead, murdered by this disillusioned killer, Dan had supported him like he was his own beloved partner which only strengthened Georg's feelings for him. He looked at Dan's face where he could see that Dan's eyes had serious jetlag. He got closer at him.

"Dan... I'm so sorry. Are you alright?"

"Of course I'm not alright, you idiot... ugh" moaned Dan and tried to comfort himself more. He was in great pain now after the shock of the shot had lifted off. His t-shirt was completely bathed in blood even though he had pressured the wound with his one hand as best as he could. Georg began to show tears in his eyes and Dan noticed it and continued: "I wonder... why I didn't commit..."

Georg tried to muster some words but only a "What... you?" came out of his surprised muzzle. He had a stare that wished they could talk freely without pressure about this tinder subject of their special relationship.

"I've always liked you, Georg... ugh... always" grumbled Dan, lifted his hand which pressured the wound and looked at it "If it wasn't for this situation... ugh... I think we could have gone out on a..."

"Tour? Journey? Trip?" interrupted Georg with a funny feeling in his body.

"Date. On a date, silly..." finished Dan and pressured the wound again.

"How convenient!" said someone suddenly out of thin air.

Georg and Dan quickly looked at the entrance of the room but only saw Garry but this time with a sinister and dark glare at them.

"Garry has alarmed the police and the hospital about this... situation it seems"

To their confusion Garry told himself as third person. A grim thought arrived to Georg's mind.

"Who are you?" asked Dan firmly but looked like he knew the answer.

"I'm Lucifer, the Demon!" answered Lucifer with a malicious and evil grin "Your friend Garry will never help you out of this situation! Like the other incidences he tried to help my victims out of their misery but to no avail. They got what they deserved. And so will you!"

"It's been Garry all along! He's suffering from multiple personality disorder! Something must have happened to him the weeks prior to the murders. His mind got split into two: the kind and timid Garry and the murderous and evil Lucifer, a demon!" thought Georg and knew that it was true. All the murders had always included someone calling for help with the same voice and the murders were always very sadistic, following the way of the devils.

Now Georg saw that the bull terrier stood there, frowning with malevolent eyes and was playing with a butcher knife in his hand, moved his head from side to side like a ticking clock.

It suddenly started to rain heavily outside which gave a really intensifying effect on the situation for Georg and Dan. Georg had the gun. He had the advantage over the killer. If he just could muster courage and speed enough to do it quickly... what if they died both? A lightning struck. A heavy thunder shouted. A bang was heard.

Georg had taken a short aim and triggered the pull and after the shot he closed his eyes and didn't dare to open them again, hoping this was just one of his many nightmares. To his great disappointment Lucifer still stood there but now had lost his knife onto the floor and had a dangerous and angered glance. He was shot at the arm where he held his knife. Without warning Lucifer launched at Georg with a roar

"GEORG!!" shouted Dan. Another lightning, another thunder.

Georg was struggling to get rid of Lucifer who now laid over him but... he didn't move, not even a muscle. Georg lifted Lucifer aside and saw that he had shot him right in the center of the chest. He was dead. Sirens could be heard outside.

"Georg... are you alright?" said a very concerned fox who fought to stay conscious.

"Yeah... I think so" replied a shocked sled dog "Are you?"

"I... don't know... I don't feel much anymore" groaned Dan and blinked many times with his eyes.

"You mustn't die, Dan! I love you! You've supported me so much through these hard times, you mustn't leave me! I'm all alone if you do!" cried Georg out loud and showed again tears. Fast steps could be heard nearby.

"If I die I'll regret many things, like, that I didn't go out with you even though I know I love you... ugh...cough... I really wanted to... I just... need to be sure who I am..."

"You'll find out... you will, won't you?" whispered Georg now crying.

"Who knows... come here Georg..."

Georg automatically did what he was asked and was now inches from Dan. Dan lifted his clean hand and caressed Georg cheek and as soon Dan touched him Georg responded by closing his eyes and press his one hand at Dan's hand and laid the another hand on Dan's wound.

"I love you, Georg... even if I die I'll still love you"

"I love you too, Dan, I love you too..."

The incidence got cleared; the intelligence agency could finally close the case of "The Demonic Murders", it came into the news and Dan was saved. Georg could finally recover from his loss of his parents with help from Dan as his boyfriend.
