Good luck getting unzipped...

* Ri *

"Nick what the hell are you doing!" A woman's voice pierced through my ears instantly alerting me to conciousnous. My body jerked slightly from the sudden wake up call, but Nick was still wrapped up in arms. Nick however had the same reaction as well, and he gripped onto my chest fur over the sudden outburst.

My eyes finally focused in on the world, and I saw a woman standing in Nick's doorway That I asumed was his mother. I was basically forced to stare at this woman until Nick finally mustered up the strength to flop over in bed leaving his back pressed up against my chest.

"Nick... why the hell is there a Pokemon in your bed!"

I didn't expect Nick to jump so quickly to my defense, but he was on top of it in a second. "Mom for one, this is a Lucario. And two, his name is Ri!"

His mother started to pace back in forth hanging on the door knob seemingly pissed off from that answer. "Listen Nick... you aren't keeping it, and you sure as hell better watch that damn mouth!"

I gripped at Nick's side, trying to silently mimic words, but of course nothing really came from it.

However to my surprise once again, Nick gripped my paw with his hand underneath the covers of the bed. "Mom... he's a living being just like you and I, he deserves a little more than to be called it..."

That only made things worse, and I was just lying there without really having room to butt in. She grabbed the door, and swung it fully open into the wall sending a rather daefining boom through out the house. "This creature doesn't give a shit about you! He obviously knows just how useless you are, and thinks he owns you!"

"Hey-"

My words were instantly cut off by Nick crying out, "Ri doesn't care about my fucking ability to walk or anything else! He unlike you actually accepts me, and hell, he even loves me!"

"Nick get the damn thing out of here!"

Her voice was sharp enough to shatter glass, but Nick's entire posture changed, and his grip tightened on my paw in an almost comforting fashion. "Mom... I'm going to be a Pokemon trainer."

"The only person that can be trained is you!"

I'm still here...

Nick cleared his throat, and sounded quite confident in his statement. "You can't stop me from fulfilling my dream... Hell a Lucario, a fighting type, is even more compassionate than you are. So yes I'm leaving and never coming back!"

Her face darkened, "good." That was it, that was the end of the conversation. The door slammed shut leaving me alone with Nick once again.

"Ri... I don't know exactly what just happened... but I need you right now."

I tightened my grip around his entire body, abusing the power of my fur to encase him in warmth. "Listen Nick, I love you for you, no other reason. There isn't any other thought in my head but making you happy, and I can't really ask you to just leave your home..."

He however rose up in the bed, and pushed the covers off of us, exposing his body up against mine, which was honestly a warming experience. Just the site of him lying on top of me only indicated the deepest level of trust.

But out of what seemed like pure will, he hoisted himself off of me and onto his feet seemingly without struggle. With a sparkle in his eye, he spun around and faced me still lying in the bed. "Well buddy, we better get moving! I'm not welcome in my own home anymore, so I only have you now!"

I just sorta stared at him, knowing that this wasn't all enthusiasm. And of course his entire body started to shake and he immediately brought his hands to his face.

"Nick..." I hopped out of the bed and quickly embraced him once more just standing up this time. His face quickly found my shoulder and he just let go. "Nick I love you... we'll... we'll make it okay? I won't ever say anything like that to you okay? You matter to me, you matter to your parents but they just don't realize what they have."

My short speech at least got him supporting his own weight again, and his head off of my shoulder. With a shaky voice he replied, "well let me get my things and we can go be happy elsewhere."

Not quite sure how to react, I just instead grabbed his arm and helped him over to his closet with our arms intertwined. He gathered a ton of clothing, and a sleeping bag. He stuffed a majority of clothes in a back pack, and handed it off to me, and repeated the same action with a different bag. Within a matter of minutes, we both had two back packs and a sleeping bag heading out of the bedroom door.

Guess he actually was serious of moving on.

When we reached the kitchen I peered out the window and noticed that his mother already left the house just after she finally got home. "Nick, where does she do all day?"

"I don't know, she typically just goes to her boyfriend's house and leaves me here all day."

I took a step towards the front door, but Nick quickly pushed onto me indicating me to walk more into the kitchen instead of away. "What do you need?"

Nick quickly rummaged through a small cabinet located next to the oven and pulled out a large matchbook. "Just in case yah know? Not sure where we are going to be sleeping tonight."

The mere thought of going back into nothing land kinda scared me, but I had a companion, my lover with me this time.

Without looking back, we were on the side of the street with a sweet Fall breeze nipping at my fur. The simple serenity of the whole scene brought an odd comfort, one that was being shared with my boyfriend who's arm was still locked in mine. But there was a burning sensation in my mind, knowing that I couldn't just risk leaving Nick out in the elements for too long.

I only have one real thought but... Ahh things are moving pretty quick aren't they? Man there just isn't enough time!

"Well Nick, guess we can just go this way." With the backpacks dangling off of our shoulders, and the sleeping bag tucked under my arm, we started to head back in the direction I came from, back to the home I just left. It wasn't the best plan, but I didn't have a whole lot of time to think.

"So you have some place in mind Ri?"

Well... I'll just keep it a surprise.

"Yeah there's a pretty nice camp spot a few miles this way, nice little place to escape this breeze."

We started to head West, allowing the sun its beautiful rays cascading our shadows forward. There we were, a Lucario and a human, holding each other closely carrying bags. But I decided to abuse the sun's position a little bit and I forced us to stop for a second.

I turned to my right in order to face him, and he was forced to look at me as well. "Hey Nick, look at the ground for a second."

He surprisingly did, "why?"

I slowly started to lean forward, watching my shadow inch towards his in a state of bliss. And within a few seconds my face connected with his nose, leaving a rather amazing silhouette on the ground. A little chuckle escaped his lips and he quickly shot his head up into mine leaving us making out in the sun.

We pulled off rather slowly, and I was quite amazed not a single life form passed by. My arms were wrapped around his waist and of course my tail was wagging rather stupidly. and the sun didn't hide any of it.

"Hey look Nick, even our shadows are in love!"

That caused him to laugh once more, and soon enough we were back on our long path. After only a few seconds he asked, "where the hell did you get so romantic at?"

"I uhh... my parents did a lot of weird stuff."

"I wanna meet them!"

Well if you can wait one more night, we will. Just have to wait for their reactions now. What's the worst that can happen though? They send me off again? That'll just be back to the start. Everything will be fine.

*Nick*

The day actually went by rather quick, and soon we were staring the sun in the face. Temperatures were obviously dropping, and my legs just couldn't bear the weight any longer. Ri took notice quickly, and just edged us a little further.

After only a few more minutes of struggling, we reached what looked like the location he mentioned earlier. "This little cave in the corner of town?"

He quickly picked me up with a smile on his face and jogged over to the entrance with me on top of the sleeping bag. Once we reached the entrance, he his backpack to the ground and sat me down gently up against the hill. "I'm gonna get some sticks and brush will quick, I just need you to light a match will quick okay?" As his sentence finished he dropped the sleeping bag next to me and hurried in his collection period, while I quite simply pulled out a match, struck it, and waited patiently.

Ri came walking past me with quite the collection of flammable materials and dropped them in a small cluster rather deep into the cave just to the point where the sunlight ended. I stood up and carefully walked towards him with the match, and lightly tossed the match onto the wood pile and within an instant the dry wood was sent into a small blaze. Ri quickly bent down and tended to the fire, as I dropped my own backpack down to the ground watching the sun sink lower with each passing moment.

Surprisingly, there weren't any wild Pokemon just waiting in the shadows, and hell even if there were Ri was right there. I struggled back up the cave entrance, and kicked the rest of the supplies inside. With a satisfying sigh, I sat down next to Ri.

He let out a slight yelp, "ahh we made it Nick!"

I tried to speak but it came in the form of a yawn, "yup and my legs are killing me."

Ri reached past me and grabbed the sleeping bag. He quickly rolled it out on the cave floor, and carefully unzipped it. "Well crawl in and rest awhile."

"Hey I don't wanna leave you outside all alone."

He looked down at the open bag, and back to me. "Ehh I may fit, I don't know just get in we'll see."

I practically crawled over him, and onto the open bag and stared back into the ceiling surrounded by warmth, light, and most of all, love. And to my slight surprise, Ri quickly climbed on top of me and laid his body up against mine. "Just inviting yourself in eh?"

His only reaction was a smile, and he quickly threw the zipper part over top of himself and amazingly it actually stretched perfectly. I quickly reached for the zipper and locked us up in a tight embrace as the first star exposed itself in the now beautiful free night.
