Part 2 of Arin's story, there's no sex in this story, more character development and explanations. Pretty emotional.

'You've Got A Friend' - Is a 1971 song by Carole King, made famous by James Taylor in the same year, a very beautiful song, that I think depicts Arin and Ewan's relationship quite well.

More to come!

2 - You've Got A Friend

'Seriously guys, it's me! Do we really have to go through this stupid routine every day?'

'Sorry Ewan, it's the rules, we've gotta check everyone for possible risks to security.' The large security guard said.

Ewan sighed. 'Fine, but be quick, I'm already late seeing Arin, he'll be worried.'

The large dog patted him down and wanded him before asking him to step through the security gate, which made no sound. 'Alright, you can go.'

'Thank you.' Ewan said, exasperated. It had taken him much longer to get backstage than normal, he didn't like to leave Arin on his own for too long straight after a gig as he hated dealing with fans and was likely to get himself in a sticky situation. The white wolf made his way through the miles of corridors and security guards that lead to Arin's dressing room, passing several fans who looked lost and overwhelmed by the experience, he even passed a puma and a fox who were pretty much fucking up against a wall very close to the rabbit's door. Ewan shook his head and turned the corner into the corridor where Arin's dressing room was situated.

He doesn't ever knock on Arin's door, there's nothing that he could be doing that Ewan had not seen before. He turned the handle and opened the door. He walked in to find Arin lying on the sofa, arms spread out and unconscious. His cock was still exposed, wet from saliva and semen, as his tight jeans were around his knees. His head was thrown back, eyes shut and mouth open, with his tongue lolling out, a rope of saliva about to fall onto his covered chest. Ewan's eyes widened in shock and horror as he saw the trickle of blood coming out of Arin's nose. His eyes darted before landing on the empty plastic packet on the glass coffee table, still with the powdery residue of cocaine coating it. Ewan's eyes narrowed in anger as he connected the dots. He dashed forward to the motionless body and straddled him, cupping his head in his paws, trying to get him conscious. He slapped Arin's face, with no response, shouting. 'ARIN? For fuck sake, not again you fucking idiot.'

He pulled Arin so he was lying flat on the sofa, in the recovery position. He placed his ear near Arin's mouth, feeling shallow but evident breaths, he sighed relief as he placed his finger on the rabbit's neck, checking for his pulse, which was there, but incredibly weak and erratic. Ewan shook Arin a few times, trying to get any sign at all he was still there, often calling out his name. No response. He began to panic a bit, he had had to bring Arin back to consciousness many, many times in the past 2 years, but he usually woke up once Ewan shook him a bit, maybe about 3 other times had he been this out of it. He looked around the room and spotted the small first aid kit in the corner. He jumped across the room and ripped it open, shouting out for help as he did so, though not expecting much of a response as most people had gone home, searching through the bag he found what he was looking for. He found the small adrenaline shot and brought it to Arin. Thank god he'd taken first aid. Removing any air from the syringe, he slammed right into Arin's chest, depressing the plunger and releasing the solution into the rabbit's blood stream.

Pretty much as soon as the contents had been emptied into his body Arin sat bolt upright, eyes wide and bloodshot, like an electric shock had caused and involuntary action. He sat up and looked down slightly, to see the concerned face of Ewan looking up at him. 'Ewa...' He started to say, before collapsing again on the sofa, with a soft 'thud.'

Ewan was concerned for a second, checking his pulse and breathing, but relaxed slightly when he realised his breathing was deeper and steadier, his heart beat was still fast, but stronger. No one had come in to help, and he could not leave Arin on his own. Awkwardly and with much effort, he pulled the slightly smaller rabbit into his arms, so he was cradled like a baby, trying to support his head all the time.

Holding the love of his life in his arms, Ewan left the dressing room as fast as he could, making his way back up the corridor he had come down, desperately searching and calling for anyone who may be around. Turning the corner he noticed a sizeable wet patch against the wall and floor, the puma and fox had obviously had some fun, and their 'fun' was pretty obvious. He was starting to panic. He knocked on the next door down the hall, Joe's dressing room.

'What is it?' the Dalmatian called out, sounding busy.

'I...It's Ewan, please come, it's an emergency.'

Ewan heard some displease grumbles from the dog as he came to the door. He pulled it open slightly, blocking the majority of the view to the room, he was dressed in just a dressing gown, and Ewan could see the naked girl on the sofa behind him, which would explain Joe's throbbing erection barely concealed by the thin silk. 'What is going o- SHIT!' the dog's eyes widened in shock at the sight of Arin in Ewan's arms.

'Please, help me. Get someone, call an ambulance, just help! I've given him an adrenaline shot, but he just fell back unconscious again, he's breathing and pulse are a bit better, but I... I dunno!' Ewan was started to get a bit hysterical.

'Okay, calm down Ewan, he'll be fine, you've done all you can for him, I'll run ahead and grab someone, follow me as fast as you can. And for fuck's sake, do not let any fans or paparazzi see him like this, the fucking idiot.' He started to leave before quickly turning back round. 'I'll be 10 minutes baby, keep wet for me.'

Ewan scrunched his nose up at the image that created. 'Sure thing, drummer boy.' The black panther called after him, with her breathy and seductive voice. Joe smiled for a second before regaining focus and darted down the corridor, not caring that his erection was pretty much on full show. Ewan followed as quickly as he could.

After about 30 seconds Ewan hadn't advanced very far down the endless corridor, but Joe came running back with a security guard. 'Oh thank god!' Ewan said as help arrived.

'Okay, set him down, in the recovery position. An ambulance is on its way, we've told him his situation and that you administered an adrenaline shot, they said you did the right thing.' The security guard informed him. 'There's nothing you can do now, just stay with him.'

'I always have...' Ewan said as he stepped away from the limp rabbit, fighting back the tears of worry and pain at seeing the love of his life come this close to death for the umpteenth time.

*****

Ewan cradled Arin's head in his arms as both lay in the hospital bed. Arin was still unconscious and had several drips attached to his arms, pumping a variety of different fluids into him, his face was that of utter peace and contentment, safely sound in a deep sleep, and warm under the hospital's thin blue blanket. Ewan lay on top of the covers, holding the rabbit's head into his chest, tears softly falling down has face and soaking into his fur. They were in a relatively large private room, Arin's manager had insisted that he be moved as soon as he was safe, the emergency department had stabilised him and he was brought to this private room in a far wing of the hospital, away from any prying eyes and paparazzi. Ewan had not left his side the whole time, going through stages of Anger and disappointment, to worry and distress. He had calmed down sufficiently to be allowed to stay with Arin in the room. He was softly whispering and stroking his head and soft ears, wanting very much for the rabbit to come back to him.

He spoke softly. 'Arin, this is probably the hundredth time I have held you like this when you were unconscious, me just willing you to come back to me.' He struggled to keep his emotions in check 'I want you to know that I will always be here for you, whenever you are in trouble I will come running, you mean far, far too much to me to let you slowly kill yourself like this. It pains me as much as it does you to see you in this state, almost every week, it seems. I know you see me as your big brother, and I'm proud to call you my younger sibling, but it hurts me to do that, because I love you so much, not family love, but love. I... I cannot express how deep my affection goes for you. You've had a horrendously difficult life these past 8 years, and when I found you, you were close to losing it, but I helped you through it. The last two years though, you have gone somewhere much darker, darker than I knew was possible, I'm struggling to keep you afloat, I do not know how longer I can care for you this way, at some point I'm going to have to make decision; whether to stay looking after you and be miserable at what you're doing to yourself, or leave you and be miserable that you are not with me. Please Arin, we've known each other for too long and been through too much together for you to throw it away like, please, come back to me, just wake up and be how you used to be. The truth is, I need you a lot more than you need me, at times. I love you.'

He buried his head in Arin's head fur and sobbed, deep, heavy sobs, as tears flowed onto the rabbit. Ewan did not know what to do, so he started singing, softly, like a mother does to her babe. He sang 'their' song, a song they had fallen in love with and meant so much more to Ewan than Arin realised.

"When you're down, and troubled, and you need a helping hand And nothing, nothing is going right. Close your eyes, and think of me, and soon I will be there to brighten up even your darkest nights.

_ You just call out my name, and you know where ever I am I'll come running to see you again. Winter, spring, summer, or fall, all you have to do is call and I'll be there, You've got a friend..."_

Ewan couldn't continue, he just held Arin tightly, wishing and praying that he would wake up, his tears falling freely onto the still bunny.

Arin stirred slightly in Ewan's grip, opening one eye and croaking in a weak and pained voice. 'Ewan?'

'Yes! Yes I'm here Arin! I'll always be here!' He hugged Arin to his chest.

'You always were a lousy singer...'

*****

Arin was shocked for a second by what was happening, then realised how frightened Ewan must have been, not that he was really sure what happened...

'Ewan... where am I? What happened?' Arin managed to croak.

Ewan calmed down a bit and released Arin from his vice-like grip 'You... you're in the hospital Arin. You overdosed on cocaine... again.' Ewan looked away.

Arin's face fell. 'Ewan, I...I'm so sorry, I don't know what I can say...'

'Nothing Arin. There's nothing. I... I love you so much, not just as a brother, and you know that, and I know we can't be together, but I will always care for you and be there for you as much as I can. But for me to see you in this state for, what? The hundredth time? I can't keep count.' He took Arin's paws in his own, making the rabbit look him in the face. 'Please, Arin, for me, will you seek help?'

'I... I don't need help, I have you...'

Ewan's face became angry. 'No Arin! Not me! You need to see a professional this time, I've done everything in my power I can, you need to see a therapist.' Arin shuddered at the word. 'I want you to someday be happy, to be in love, to have a boyfriend. Even if it isn't me, if we just keep being brothers, I need you to be fulfilled. Please, get help.' He bowed his head as he fought back the tears.

Arin sighed. They remained silent for a few awkward moment. 'Okay.' Arin said eventually.

'What?'

'I said okay. I'll do it. I... If you want me to, I will seek professional help, but I want you to be there with me, you've been a part of my life ever since my parents... I... I just need you there.'

Ewan pulled him back into a hug. 'Of course I will. Anything.'

'Thank you.'

At that moment the door to their private room flung open, and in stormed a tall rabbit, angry and her face red. It was Arin's aunt and guardian, Matilda Carrie. She had a look of pure hatred on her face as she saw Ewan lying on the bed with Arin. Ewan jumped off the bed with a yelp and stood so it was between him and the woman. She shot Ewan a deathly stare.

'Matilda? What are you doing here?!' Arin exclaimed.

The rabbit was slightly taken aback by this. 'What do you mean, 'What are you doing here'? I'm your legal guardian, I have every right to be here, especially when you've done something this stupid.' Her voice was sharp and short, almost as if she spat every word. Arin had never had a good relationship with his aunt, he'd grown up with his parents being loving, kind and open minded, never forcing him to follow a particular path, just giving him gentle guidance when they felt he needed it. Upon their death he had been sent to live with his aunt, whom he'd met only a few times before, due to the fact she did not get on with her sister, Arin's mother. She lived alone, and having to take Arin in was much more of a hassle than anything else, she lead a very conservative and strict household, with prayers for at least one hour a day. It was her religion that kept Arin away from therapy post his parents' death, as she believed god would show him the way. Matilda barely spent any time with her nephew, and really knew as little about him as she could. Arin spent as much time at Ewan's house as he could, he felt safe there, and he could be himself. Ewan had never liked Matilda, he loathed her, they would often have arguments about Arin, which usually ended in one of them threatening the other and storming out, it was Ewan that had helped Arin through the most difficult times, had helped keep him sane, not that bitch or her god. Particularly after he came out to her, she became even more distant and generally refused to look him in the eyes, which tore Arin up inside even more.

Ewan flared up. 'Are you serious? You've got no right to be here! You're less of a parent than his real parents, and they're dead!' He stopped suddenly, having realised what he just said, and looked at Arin, who was fiddling with his paws and looking at the bed. 'I'm sorry, Arin I didn't mean...'

'How dare you! You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, you insolent little cub,' she spat back. Turning back to Arin. 'What the hell were you thinking? I don't care how famous you are, you still belong to me and will do as I say. You are no longer continuing on this foolish tour and are coming home with me. You need to reconnect with god, you have lost your way.'

'Oh... would you just shut the fuck up? It's because of your 'god' that he's got this problem!' Ewan was never normally this rude, but when in the presence of this woman he always lost face. 'You have no idea what Arin needs, you don't know who he is, I'm more of a guardian than you ever could be. He doesn't want to see you, just fuck off.'

Matilda's face was so red she looked as if she was about to explode. Arin interrupted before a full on fist fight ensued. 'Just stop. Both of you. Ewan, please, calm down.' He held Ewan's paw and squeezed slightly, feeling how tense he was. 'Matilda, I am 18, you have no right or legal standing to tell me what I can and cannot do. Ewan's right, you were no guardian to me, I'm not a Christian, your god cannot help me. Please, for your sake, leave me alone. I really want no more to do with you.'

To her credit, Matilda looked genuinely hurt. She spoke quietly. 'Arin? I... I just did what I thought was best for you.'

Arin looked away again, not wishing to look in her face. 'Well, it had the opposite effect.' Ewan was softly growling as he fixed his stare onto the woman.

'I... I'm sorry. I didn't realise.' She turned and walked out of the room. It was rare for her to show much emotion, but it was obviously she was holding back the tears.

Arin felt pretty guilty, yes she had done more damage than good, but still, she did keep him in clothes and put a roof over his head. He shook the thought away and just remembered what it was she didn't do for him, the things that Ewan had done.

Ewan noticed Arin was a bit upset by this episode, so he climbed back on the bed and gave him a protective hug. 'Don't worry about her, she'll be fine, she's got her god... I've told you many times, you don't need her. Now, you promise me you'll book therapy sessions? I'll be there with you, don't worry.'

'Of course I will. As soon as I'm out of here.'

A senior looking doctor entered the room, very professional in his manner, he was a very tall and handsome golden retriever. 'Now, Mr Gray. Your vitals have greatly improved and you're generally looking a lot more healthy. As a precaution I'm going to keep you in overnight. Umm, Ewan, wasn't it? We can get you a bed in the relative's room, if you like.'

'Thank you, but I'll just crash here, if that's okay.' Ewan gestured to the arm chair next to Arin's bed.

The doctor smiled. 'Very well, just make sure you get plenty of rest.' He started to walk out. 'Oh... one more thing. Arin... could I have your autograph?'

Arin smiled. 'Of course. What would you like me to sign?'

The doctor walked back to the bed and handed him a clip board. He smirked. 'The bill.'

'Oh...'
