The Forgotten Wolf

"Wait here," He was told. Kunari thought about this for a while, as he waited in the ditch across the street from an apartment complex. "Wait here," The Earth Mother Nayru had told him. Her exact words were, "Wait here until night, and then go to apartment 41A. A friend will be waiting for you there." Night had come.
Kunari moved cautiously around the complex, making sure no one could see him. After a while, he relaxed. No one was even around. he walked up the steps of 41A and knocked, wondering just what human would be waiting for a wolf to knock at the door... He was given a shock, when a pure white wolf like himself had answered. "You would be Kunari?" she asked happily.
At a loss for words, Kunari said, "Yes. Nayru sent me here."
"Of course she did." She replied unimpressed.
"So... who are you?" Kunari inquired.
"I am Aniu." She stated simply. "Come in, Your room is the one next to mine. We'll talk more in the morning."
Kunari walked inside and blurted, "Why would Nayru send me here?"
"There are many things that need to be explained, but there's not enough time tonight. Get some sleep." She wouldn't say anything else. Kunari walked to his room and slept.
a sinister laugh echoed through the dark, water-stained walls of the room... Shuddering, Kunari sat helpless, Shackled and chained, held upright, and in front of him was a black wolf. This wolf was holding something... some strange peice of metal. And worse, as Kunari noticed that the other end of the metal was attached to his head! He struggled, but his mangled body couldn't break the chains. He noticed all of the wounds on his body. Whips, claws, and many other things had beenused as torture devices on him. he became so scared of the black wolf that he shook uncontrollably. This only made the wolf laugh even harder. The wolf moved the metal object upward, and walked away to a panel. He pressed something, and Kunari started to sream in pain, as the device attached to him dug further in. Everything started to go dark, but as the pain became unbearable, Kunari woke up screaming slightly.
He was still in the quiet room of the apartment. Again, he recieved a shock, because Aniu was standing next to him. Before he could say anything, She quickly asked, "you had that nightmare again, didn't you?"
"How do you know about that?" Kunari asked.... He thought that he was the only one who knew about these dreams. "Nayru told me about them. She once read your mind while you were having one, and she asked me about it's meaning. When I heard about it, I asked her to bring you to me. These dreams you have made me realize something... I already know who you are, and you should already know me. Do you?"
"No... Just your name. Aniu. How would you know me?"
"The black wolf you see in these dreams.... what is his name?"
"How am I supposed to know?"
"...Fine. I'll tell you his name. It's Larten. He's your uncle."
This seemed a little too funny to Kunari. "My own uncle, as you say, would put me through that torture? HA!" He laughed at her. Aniu got impatient with him, and decided that it was time to get it over with. "I'll prove to you that you know me. Here." She put her hand on his cheek, and started sifting through his memories. She found what she was looking for. Kunari was lying on the ground, and her arms were wrapped around his neck. Kunari was very young in this memory... like a toddler almost. He was sleeping. Here, Aniu was singing a slow, haunting melody... some lullaby. Then it stopped. Aniu removed her hand from Kunari's cheek, and Kunari just sat there, motionless, speechless... not reacting except for his tail, which was twicthing very quickly now. He did know her.
He finally came to and said, "But... how? I thought Nayru sang that song to me... How did I know you back then?"
"Your uncle was using you. As a child, you couldn't fight him, and e easily overpowered you and took you to that chamber. There he erased your memories and prepared to make your body his own. He meant to erase you completely, and with the new body, he would live longer."
She stopped for a second, but continued with her speech. "I saved you from him, but I was too late... you had forgotten everything. In my rage, I destroyed everything in that room, and the entire building collapsed. Even worse, while I was destroying his lab, Nayru found you, lying asleep, and took you to her home in the forest. When I couldn't find you, I was crushed... I thought Larten had the final word. I thought you were dead." At this point, she was hugging him so tightly that he was choking. She realized this and let go, wiping the tears from her face. She was slightly embarrassed.
Kunari was still having a hard time taking all of this in... such betrayal. And he was thinking to himself, "She has to be right... now that I think about it, I don't remember anything about my parents, or my childhood... nothing. Just darkness, emptiness."
"Who are you really?" Kunari asked insensitively. --- "I'm like you, Kunari. Only... You lost your powers. Let me show you what you once had." in a flash of light, a pair of beautiful Angelic wings spread from her back. "You once had wings like these, but Larten ripped them from your shoulders. He used horrible metal contraptions to take all of your powers... he even killed your mother in her sleep."Her wings disappeared in a flash of light just like the first. "Just think about it for a while,Kunari... and try to get some rest. You were shaking in your sleep for the past two hours." She left, and shut the door behind her. When Kunari heard the door to her room close, he laid back, and eventually went to sleep again.
