(Actually, this story is pretty tame. No vore, just plot. Also transformation)

A few weeks had passed. Zack continued to practice his control of magic with the help of Kara. Agnidev seemed to leave them alone for the most part. At school, he would walk by and wink at Kara or lick his lips at Zack. They both found it unnerving. Kara was affected by it the most, her traumatic experience with Agnidev had been giving her nightmares nearly every night since. She was afraid that he would sneak into her cave in the night and have his way with her. She slept in the darkest corner of her cave, away from any prying eyes. On the weekends, Zack would stay with her through the nights. His small form comforted her even though she knew that he would not be able to do much to help if her worst fears became a reality.

"Zack, I cannot believe how far you've come since you started. I thought your progress was great on the first day but you never cease to amaze me at how quickly you get this stuff." Kara exclaimed after watching Zack successfully cast a dome of water around himself.

Zack smiled. "Thanks Kara." He said. "I need to learn this as quickly as I can if I want to have any chance at fending off Agnidev."

"Well, since you're such a quick learner, let's try something much harder. Honestly, I've never tried this myself so I don't know how well it is going to work." She stood up, gesturing for Zack to follow her. "Come with me."

Zack stood up and walked over to her. She picked him up and placed him on her back.

"Hold on Zack." Kara called.

Zack grasped a back spike as Kara beat her large wings. The gusts of wind blew his hair back. Kara ascended into the clouds and started to gain speed. Aiming for her cave, she dived down to gain a speed boost. She flew for a few minutes just above the clouds. Her wings would disappear within them sometimes. As she flew, Zack reached down and let his hand flow through the white puffy substance.

Soon, they reached Kara's cave and landed on the plateau outside of her cave. She padded inside with Zack still sitting on her back. Zack watched as she turned down a corridor hidden from the light. He never even noticed that something was there until now. She walked in total darkness for a while until suddenly turning. She rounded a few U-shaped turns which was keeping the light from entering the hallway that they traveled down prior. Suddenly, a rudely shaped circular room emerged into view, illuminated by holes around the cave which were letting in sunlight. There were small piles of objects, treasures that she found dear to herself, Items from friends long gone, bones from meals in the past and other miscellaneous piles for other things. Kara walked up to a wall which had been carved out into a nicely shaped, albeit simplistic bookshelf. It was filled with books, some very large dragon-sized books, some very small human sized books. She picked an old, worn, leather-covered book and opened it. She thumbed through the pages until she found what she was looking for.

"What are you planning on teaching me?" Zack asked.

"This." She replied, turning the book to her. The markings in the book were a language that he did not understand but there was an illustration to go along with it. It showed a series of pictures of a dragon slowly turning into a human.

Zack looked at her quizzically. "But don't I need a ring or something enchanted like you have for that to work?"

"Not necessarily," Kara answered, smiling. "I've used this ring because it keeps me close to the family that I lost. I've chosen not to use this spell unless it's an emergency. Plus, there are some upsides to using the ring. Because it draws from its own power, your energy is not drained from the change."

Zack seemed to understand now. "Okay then. I guess, let's try it," Zack said enthusiastically. He stood in the center of the large room and began to clear his mind. After so much practice, it was second nature for him now.

Kara sensed that his mind was clear. "Okay, now you must think of what you want to look like. You must imagine your dragon body in all of its intricacies. Imagine the wings, imagine the tail, imagine everything, inside and out.

Zack focused on his idea of what he should look like, taking in every detail that he could possibly think of into account. He began to form a solid image in his mind of how he should look.

"Now, feel the energy around you. Feel the stores of mana from within. Let it pool in one place. You're going to need every last bit of your mana for this," Kara said, encouragingly. "Come one Zack, like we practiced."

Zack focused, practicing his mantra, feeling the energy flow within him easily. Suddenly, he started feeling quite peculiar. He knew he could not open his eyes, else he could lose his concentration. He kept his eyes shut. An immense weight started to amass on his back and he fell down on his arms and legs. After a few seconds, he felt the energy start to subside. He opened his eyes and the first thing he noticed was how sharp and easily differentiable everything was. His eyes seemed to be drawn to anything that moved. Smells were almost overpowering now. He could differentiate between all the smells around him as well. Kara had a distinct smell compared to the objects around him. Her smell was weirdly attractive; he couldn't stop thinking about it. He looked down at his hands only to find that they were scaly clawed paws. His heart skipped a beat as he looked back and flexed his wing muscles. They moved gracefully. "Wow, I really did it."

"Yeah, you did... kind of," Kara corrected.

"What do you mean?" Zack asked, looking back at Kara. It became very apparent then. Kara was still quite a bit bigger than him.

"Well you did grow... just not enough." Kara giggled, leaning over and licking his cheek. "luckily for me, you still taste like the delicious human I know."

Zack smiled at her teasing. He licked her cheek back.

Kara was a little taken aback at the new form of affection that he was able to show as a dragon but she liked it. "So, how drained do you feel?"

"I feel like I have one more transformation in me," Zack replied.

"Well, turning human again is the easy part but if you think you have enough energy to try transforming into a dragon again, we can try it one more time before I think you should take a break."

Zack nodded in agreement. He closed his eyes and focused on his human self again. It was much easier to recall how he looked. Not having to make up an entire being was much easier. Before Zack knew it, he felt his body turn back into his human form. His wings slowly disappeared, allowing him to stand on two legs easily. He opened his eyes after feeling the magic subside. All his senses were back to normal. He found himself almost missing the elevated eye tracking and the scents that things gave off, especially Kara.

"How do you feel?" Kara asked.

"I feel fine but I miss the senses that I got as a dragon. I cant believe that you have such an elevated sense of sight and smell, it was incredible." Zack looked down at the ground, unsure of what he wanted to say.

"What is it?" Kara asked, feeling his discomfort.

"I don't know if it is weird to say this but you smelled very good; it was almost intoxicating."

Kara felt herself blush but her scales hid this reaction. She laughed awkwardly. "Oh, it's probably nothing."

Zack knew there was something that he wasn't being told. "Kara, c'mon, what is it? I know you're hiding something."

Kara looked down, trying to hide her embarrassment. "I just... It's not that..." She sighed, unable to lie to Zack. She wanted to tell him the truth but was afraid of his reaction. "I'm just in heat, that's all."

It was Zack's turn to blush. "Oh... Uh..."

"Don't worry about it Zack, I wasn't expecting someone of your size to help me out with that. It would be too dangerous for you to... Now let's try one more time," Kara changed the subject.

Zack stopped thinking about the situation and started focusing again. He felt the mana pool within him once again, allowing it to be used up to complete his given task. He felt his body start to change. Wings burst out through his back, strong and reliable. Skin changed to scales as Zack transformed. He opened his eyes again and was facing Kara. He didn't have to look up to meet her eyes. Looking down, he saw that the world was much smaller now. Kara was even slightly smaller than his form.

She looked up at him, impressed. "Well, you did it. Now you can defend yourself with much more success against Agnidev."

Zack smiled giddily. He was so excited to explore his new body. "You have to teach me how to fly, Kara."

"I will sometime, but you need to rest, you've done something that not many beings can accomplish." She put the book back on the shelf and gestured for Zack to follow her.

They walked down the dark Corridor, which was not dark anymore; He could see the walls quite clearly. "Dragons have night vision?" Zack asked.

"Yeah, we do. There is a reason that dragons are the top of the food chain."

"This is so exciting!" Zack exclaimed.

"Don't get too used to it, I still want a little human snack every once in a while." Kara joked.

"I think I'll stay this way as much as possible, my human form is not nearly this strong and free. I feel like nothing can stop me!" Zack continued.

Kara looked at him while they walked, smiling at his joy. "Nothing should be able to stop you."

Zack began to ponder the limitations of magic. "Kara?"

"Yeah Zack?"

"Why doesn't Agnidev use magic to get what he wants?"

"Agnidev never learned magic. The only magical thing that he knows about is the ring that he wears to become human. He actually saw it as a waste of time."

"How could he think that?"

"Well, as I said, dragons are the top of the food chain, the masters of this world. There is really no need for more power."

Zack thought about the response, seeing the logic in the answer. "Kara, then why do you practice magic?"

Kara sighed. "Because, as you've found out, I'm not as powerful as Agnidev. Dragons are the top predators and should not have to use magic. It should be seen as a hobby. But when someone like Agnidev comes along, a dragon that preys on other dragons, it's natural to want to have something to fight back with."

"I'm sorry for asking," Zack said.

"No Zack, it's okay, really. You didn't know that was the reason I practiced magic."

"I guess that kind of thing happens quite often then," Zack said, heartbroken.

Kara looked down at the ground, recalling what she had pushed far back in her mind. "Yeah... It happens sometimes."

Zack could hear her try to hold her tears back. They fell, splashing onto the ground. Zack walk up beside her and nuzzled her long neck with his muzzle. Her neck wrapped around his, embracing his neck and head. Zack could feel himself purr slightly. It was an involuntary reaction that surprised him. His worries and embarrassment were put to rest when Kara reciprocated his actions with her own purrs.

They unwound their necks and continued walking, silence surrounding them, each lost in their own thoughts. Only the scrapes of their claws on the hard stone could be heard. Kara walked towards the front of the cave, just before the entrance. She lied down on her stomach and gestured for Zack to join her. Zack sat down beside her.

After about twenty minutes of peaceful silence, Zack broke the emptiness with a question. "Hey Kara, does this spell wear off after a while or can I stay a dragon until I decide to turn back into a human?"

"You should be able to just stay a dragon until you decide to change." Kara responded.

"Then I'm going to be a dragon all the time around you. I'm going to make sure you stay safe."
