Chapter 11: Kingdom Hearts

I panted heavily from running what seemed like a whole marathons worth of distance away from the scene of the crime we got dragged into. I noticed that we made it past the city limits of Los Angeles and we we're now out in the middle of a rich plain. With grass lush green, and the sky bright blue with perfectly white clouds. The air was the best air I ever smelled, so fresh and clean. If only the entire world was like this, then this would seem like a better place to live. Now since we we're out of civilization, it was ok for Kimahri to travel beside me again. I think we'd better be sticking with each other, so that we wouldn't end up getting me killed again. I looked at the Ronso and saw his expression as a little bit mad, and it made me feel sad.

"Hey, Kimahri. I'm sorry." I told him. He shook his head.

"No apologies." He said. "Eric proved Kimahri that Eric can protect himself without Kimahri's help. Yes, Kimahri did worry, & Eric shouldn't been involved, but Kimahri very proud of what Eric did."

"It was the right thing to do." He smiled a bit & nodded.

"Kimahri know, but discretion is better part of valor."

"Ok." We then hugged each other in an embraced and he gave me a quick kiss in the forehead. The Ronso then remembered one thing that he wanted to ask me.

"Eric?"

"Yes?"

"Do you know about Sora, Riku, and Kairi?"

"Sora, Riku, and Kairi? Of course I do! They're the main characters from the game, Kingdom Hearts. That game is also where the Keyblade came from." I showed him the blade and he asked.

"What's this all about?"

"Well...." I then started to explain to him about everyone's story from within the Kingdom Hearts series. Starting with Sora's dive to the heart and the shadows that destroyed their island. I included every detail that I remembered from the last time I ever played a Kingdom Hearts game, and it included King Mickey's disappearance from Disney Castle and Donald Duck and Goofy's search for him. According to a letter the king left for them, they went to Traverse Town to find someone with a key. When they got there was when Sora arrived and they met and defeated the heartless together.

I then explained to Kimahri about the hearts, keyblades, and the heartless, and their roles in the story. Like how a person becomes a heartless after one steals his/her heart, and that the heartless are atracted to the darkness in peoples hearts. And there is darkness in every heart. I explained in quick details about Sora's experiences in other worlds and leading it up to when Sora saves Kairi in Hollow Bastion by sacrificing himself, and was later revived by her light. As a bonus, I included the extra bosses he fought and struggled to defeat, which took a little more time into this. Then after that, came the part in The End of the World when Sora, Donald, and Goofy defeats Ansem in the realm of darkness and closes the door. To help keep the darkness locked inside, the King and Riku had stayed behind the door, and the worlds returned to existance. Sora promises Kairi that he'll bring Riku home and leaves her in the island, waiting for them to return.

Then I told Kimahri about Castle Oblivion and the organization, and how this girl Namine had the power to rearrange Sora's memories, leading him to their trap. After reaching the top floor of the castle, Namine returns Sora's memories to normal, taking about a year. As I was telling Kimahri the story of the series, I explained Riku and the King fighting their own battles against Ansem at the castle's basement. When they make it, they meet a new face called DiZ, the one who guided Riku from the start.

"What happened after that?" Kimahri asked.

"Well, I was about to get to that." I assured him. He had listened intently to every word I have said about this, then I finally began the story of Kingdom Hearts II. Which started out with Roxas in Twilight Town, and the events leading to his truth. Then Sora's Awakening, their encounter with the Nobodies, and the King's rescue. Followed by Pete and Yen Sid, and Sora's new clothes that he recieves which contains his new powers, or drive forms. Then I included his two visits to other worlds with the help of their Gummi ship and the gates that can be unlocked with the keyblade. After the details of the worlds, Sora and company's delimma with the Heartless army, Kairi's kidnapping, and Organization XIII, he knows about Roxas. So they revisit Twilight Town, to find it deserted and crawling with Nobodies. Then with the King they make it to the Nobodies' world to take on the organization, and rescue Riku & Kairi. One by one, the rest of the members we're taken down and Kairi is rescued, and Xehanort's heartless, formerly known as Ansem, is released from Riku's body. Then they move on to fight the leader, Xemnas, and defeat the Nobodies once and for all.

"And then Sora and Riku defeated Xemnas one more time and went on back home to the Islands finally. Then everyone went back to their worlds. But one day Sora, Riku, and Kairi get a letter from the King, and that's about it. They got three new games coming out for it so there's more to the story then I know about." Kimahri noded as we went down the field and said.

"Kimahri see, and understand now." He folded his arms and spoke again. "Kimahri had visions of Sora and darkness. Visions of Keyblades and friendship. Visions of Roxas's desire for friends."

"You mean like hanging out with Hayner and friends." The Ronso nodded.

"Another thing Kimahri ask." I listened very intently, waiting for what question he wanted to ask me next. "What exactly happened back there. Eric's clothes changed."

"Oh yeah, that!" I remembered the fight when I changed into a completely different person, with the armor and all. I could never have carried those ever, but I fought with them on with relative ease. "I don't know enough yet myself, but the way I went from this to that in and out of battle. It sounds like to me that it's like Final Fantasy Job Classes, or at least it feels like it. The only difference is that there's no Final Fantasy relation to it though. I don't know enough yet so I can't explain it to you." Then I started to think, what if the crystal from the dream had told me something. When it said that I am the freelancer that must carry it on, did they mean like I was a freelancer class as my default? What about when I transformed into the Fighter's clothing? Was that a fighter class? Was it from the crystal shards and the pendant that dream gave me? How did I get it for real? It couldn't happen to have been there when I have actually woken up, there's no way. There were 8 others that we're like this, we're they classes that I have inherited from the pendant also? So many question, so little time, geez.

We trekked across the fields, letting whichever direction take us to who knows where when the sky slowly went from blue to a more red violet color, saying that the sun was going to set soon.

"Hmmmm.... I wonder...." I had a thought about the dreams involving the crystal and the pendant. Along with what it said about being the Freelancer and the way I transformed into the Fighter class. I had a feeling that it all has all the relation to the Final Fantasy Job Classes, but I just had to try. Kimahri just looked at me all confused and wanted to ask me what the matter was, but instead he had kept silent and just watched me. "Class Change:" I grabbed my pendant and called for one of the classes I havent tried yet. "Lancer!" Then in a flash, A bright white light was shining all over me for several seconds and it finally faded out. I opened my eyes slowly to re-adjust it to the environment around me, then looked at myself and.

"Whoa." This time, the clothing I wore was different from the Fighter's. What I wore this time was a blue-violet shirt like cloth that had additional cloth cover only my front and back sides of the legs while leaving the sides out. Above my armor sported grayish shoulder guards which extened outward at least a couple inches wider than my actual shoulders. Behind me I was wearing a blueish cape that went down to my hind legs. I had sported on a brown leather belt, and a pair of tan leather gauntlets on my hands. My feet we're wearing grayish armored boots that went up to my knees. Underneath the armor was some kind of tight protective material covering my arms and legs. They we're tight enough to pass off as skin. I remembered when I was a Fighter back at the crime sceene that I had a sword instead of a Keyblade, so I grabbed my weapon behind me and found that it was a spear.

The spear was about as tall as me, and the very tip looked so sharp that it could pierce almost anything. I looked back at Kimahri and smiled, as I saw him look back at me astonished.

"Hey, would you like another sparring session?" I asked. "Looks like I could use training with more weapons and magic." The Ronso nodded and grabbed his spear, positioning himself ready to attack and so did I. Being in a different class meant for me that my fighting style and stance would be different, and it was. I had to switch my position to look like Kimahri's, because he's really awesome to me.

We held the pose for a long minute, but decided to just go ahead and attack, to see how he does. I charged at him swung the spear sideways to the left, and he evaded by jumping really high in the air. I saw him in complete astonishment, as seeing that he jumped higher than what he could back in the game. The Ronso himself got his spear and pointed it downward as he began his descent. I saw it coming to me but before I could react, it seemed that it was about to hit me. But the spear itself didn't hurt me, but instead the shock wave sent my flying and falling onto my back. He just used his Jump attack on me, I thought. It felt so powerful that I'm sure it can take out just about any opponent. But I survived and he started to charge at me. I blocked his spear blow with my newly armored arms, so it didn't damage as much, but it was really nerve wrecking and tumbled down to the ground. He was nice enough to let me get back up and I figured out something else that I didn't understand.

I almost completely forgot about his skills, I thought. Kimahri has his own signiture moves that he learned from the fiends back in spira that went along with any magic spells he knows. I doubt that my freelancer self has any signiture moves at all, but I wonder if my classes has their own spells and skills. I searched my mind for any that I am able to use now, but the spells I knew before aren't there now, but there was one other skill that had never came up to me. I grabbed my spear, charged, and unleashed the skill.

"Leg Sweep!" I felt a strange aura as I called upon the skill and swept my spear to the lower left side. Both Kimahri and I we're completely unaware of what just happened next, as I had swept the spear across, I tripped the Ronso and he fell on his back. It took him a while to get back up and he saw me with a look of complete puzzlement. Even I was surprised, and felt worried if I had injured him badly. Luckily though when he got back up, I was relieved to have only stunned him. I guess that's why they call it 'Leg Sweep', I thought to myself again.

"Kimahri deeply impressed." He complimented with a nod and a grin. I kind of giggled and blushed a little at that and replied.

"Thanks. But I wonder." I remembered the time back with the criminals when I changed classes first time with the fighter. I figured that I might have a skill from that too. "Class change: Fighter." The familiar light had glowed from the pendant again, and my Lancer's outfit had changed back to the familiar Fighter's clothes that I wore the battle before, and saw that the spear was now the sword and shield again. We went back to our sparring session and I went to look for my skill again, but this one was different likewise. We first battled on with regular weapon swings and parries, and I practiced blocking his deadly stabs with the shield. I only missed a few times, but I got it all ok. He didn't injure me like always but poked me really hard at the places which I missed. It was until after that was when I tried unleashing my skill.

"Cross Cut!" I charged and made one swift slash to the side and one slash going vertical. The two slashes combined left over the bright shape of a cross. Again, Kimahri didn't seem affected by it much since he guarded with a defensive stance and instinctively went on to a counter attack. Just one slash was enough from him to knock me down. He casted a healing spell on me and helped me up. My head felt a little funny but I adjusted myself so my mind cleared up.

"Wow." I said to him. "You're amazing." The Ronso nodded.

"So are you. You made Kimahri proud. You show Kimahri how much you Improved, and for that, Kimahri glad." I smiled brightly and gave him a hug, which he gladly returned. I nuzzled my face onto his white chest fur, while he licked my hair, which tickled me to the feel. He gave me a quick lick on the cheek and I kissed him on the nose and then we broke the hug. "Ready for more?" He asked. I nodded and prepared the next class for training.

"Class Change: Mage!"

That didn't take very long, but the chapter itself cut short. I thought I have written a long chapter, but in truth came out short. If it isn't any good, my apologies, but I hope you enjoy it. Chapter 12 comes soon.
