Gary Davis accompanied his research director on an expedition into the Ecuadorian rain forest. Silvia, his research director, was an organic chemist searching for new specimens to test in potential pharmaceuticals. Her life work was on the rainforest fungi and their applications. The climb was arduous to reach a site that, hopefully, hadn't been explored previously. The wolf marveled at the lithe fox as she flitted through the foliage; his bulky form could barely pass through some of the low-hanging vines that Silvia could easily slip through. At many points, Gary had to brandish his machete to navigate the trail. When they paused to rest, Gary snacked on some dog biscuits.

"How can you eat that stuff? My dog won't even eat those." Asked Silvia.

"I love them. They clean your teeth and satisfy hunger. Sure you don't want one?" Replied Gary.

"No way."

Gary was winded by the time Silvia found a suitable site to set up their large tent for the wolf had to carry most of their equipment. It was close quarters in their tent; room for two sleeping bags, a table, and a makeshift changing area. As a graduate student, the wolf was going to try to keep his relationship with Dr. Rogers professional. Silvia was a fox with rust-colored fur and a patch of white spanning her underside. She was several years older than her wolf assistant and had a reputation of being very strict with her students.

Dusk was settling over the forest when they had pitched their tent and they were ready to consume dinner and turn in for the night. The wolf was turning over his sleeping bag when the fox headed for the changing area; her brush lightly stroked his abdomen as she crossed. Gary closed his eyes trying to avoid sexual thoughts, with little luck. The wolf dove into his bag to hide his excitement. Silvia came out in a night gown and went to the table to examine some aerial maps of the area. The fox was focused on her work as the wolf observed her. He was pretending to be asleep with squinted eyes. Her legs were covered with a luxurious coat of fur. He couldn't take his eyes from her. He hadn't had improper thoughts of her before. With satisfaction, the vulpine turned out the light and got into her bag. The wolf savored her sweet scent as he became sleepy.

They awoke the next day. Gary had rolled on top of the fox during the night and they gazed into each other's eyes. Dr. Rogers was miffed at him being on top of her when she awoke.

"Get off of me!" Screamed Silvia.

"Sorry maam." Gary apologized.

The wolf did not know how he ended up in that position, but he held his tail between his legs for some time when he saw her. They got dressed, ate a meager breakfast and some coffee. They set out with climbing gear to gain access to the tree canopies. Silvia carefully climbed the tree with Gary following, pointing out some poisonous insects to watch out for. Safety ropes were suspended in case of accidents. With straps suspended about the tree, they scaled about sixty feet of the trunk before the branches started appearing and then swung over to cling to the branches. After about an hour of careful climbing, Silvia reached a tree canopy and helped Gary onto a platform that had been constructed by previous scientists. Silvia was a little disappointed that this area had previously been studied. The platform was covered with vines that had grown rapidly over the preceding months. Canine and vulpine were panting heavily from the difficult climb and had to catch their breath. The researchers were in awe of the beauty of the forest seen from this height.

"That's good exercise." Stated Silvia.

"Yeah. I'm tired can we go home." Gary teased.

"Really?"

"Just kidding."

"I never understand sarcasm."

The fox patted him on the shoulder as they gingerly stood on the canopy. Silvia studied the foliage on the platform carefully. She removed a fungus, tested its PH, and threw it over the side; it was not what she was looking for. For hours Silvia scanned the tree, Gary helped her log the research in a lab book. Dr. Rogers studied many samples during their study of tree 1032. They spent the day up that tree and came down to camp for the night. Tomorrow was tree 1033. Days passed and the two researchers studied tree-after-tree.

Day seven came and they were climbing tree 1039. They studied the tree during daylight and came down at dusk. Silvia had still not found what she was seeking. Gary was below her in their descent. As the wolf reached the bottom, he felt a sharp pain in his shoulder and looked to the source of the pain. The snake was yellow with reddish-yellow spots covering its length. The fox quickly scampered down the tree, removed the snake from Gary, and threw it several yards into the forest away from their campsite. The wolf's arm was going numb.

"You've been bitten by an eyelash pit viper. The venom it injected into you is hemotoxic and will damage your red blood cells. I have to get the venom out of you and administer an anti-venom." Silvia discussed.

"H-h-how do you p-p-plan to do that?" Asked Gary.

"This is going to hurt. Bite down on this." Said Silvia.

The vulpine handed the canine a stick to bite down on and positioned him on his stomach. She had to remove the poison quickly. The fox nibbled into his shoulder eliciting a whine from the wolf as she punctured the flesh beneath his fur. She sucked up some venom and spit it out. Silvia nibbled into his shoulder further, sucking and spitting more venom. The fox took a larger bite, ripping out some of his shoulder tissue. The wolf's muffled howl of pain could be heard for a distance. The fox took out some gauze and applied pressure to the wound; she guided the wolf back to their encampment. When they returned, Silvia administered anti-venom to both of them, in case she had swallowed some of the venom or venom remained in his bloodstream. The vulpine removed the gauze and stitched Gary's wounded shoulder, he whimpered throughout the sewing. She applied a bandage to the sealed gash. Dr. Rogers let Gary rest for several days, studying her aerial map for possible destinations. The wolf slept for a couple of days and was restless on the third.

"How are you feeling Gary?" Asked Silvia

"Much better. Ready to return to our research?" Gary replied.

"Tomorrow we'll study tree 1040." Said Silvia.

The next day dawned and they climbed tree 1040. The climb was difficult especially for the wolf who was still a little weaker than usual. They reached the canopy and the wolf rested, panting heavily. This canopy was natural and they had to be careful to avoid a fall. Gary rested for much of the day as the fox studied the tree. It was in the early afternoon that she found something and vociferated an excited yip. She had found a very interesting fungus, which she deposited into a sealable test tube. The researchers left the tree to return to their tent. For the remainder of the day, Dr. Rogers studied a sample under the microscope, performed tests by applying various solutions to the samplings, and noted the findings in a lab book. She later placed a test tube with the remaining fungus in a case for further study. Gary was finally able to get Silvia to taste some of his dog biscuits.

Gary had never seen her so excited before. He liked this side of her. He wished he could be with her as a male, but she seemed to prefer a professional relationship and he was trying to keep his distance as well. His PhD did depend on keeping this relationship; a personal liaison that went awry could endanger his future. He longed to stroke her soft back and caress her sensual legs to share an intimate night in her arms. The wolf dashed those thoughts and went out to relieve himself; his member dripped with his desire. His tension had been increasing with every brush of her tail, every gentle caress of her paw, and the close proximity of their sleeping arrangements. He pawed off thinking of her, his seed spraying onto a large leaf and dribbling to the center and down. He went back into the tent and went to sleep. Silvia studied the fungus for several more hours and then turned in as well.

Days passed and they did not find anything further. On day 15, their luck ran out. They were atop tree 1045 and were caught in a heavy chill rain. Their fur was drenched with the downpour as they cautiously clambered down the trunk. Gary watched the fox below him become soaked; her fur was matted to her body. They reached the surface and ran to their camp. The vulpine slipped and fell into a puddle; the wolf lifted her out of the chill water. When they reached camp, they were shivering from the cool drizzle. The fox was more than shivering though; she was crouching in a ball, trying to get warm. Gary looked at her with concern and removed his clothes and her clothes. The wolf ran a towel over her body to dry her off as best he could and then toweled himself off. She was still shivering as he embraced her, sharing his body heat with her. He held her for a couple of hours as warmth returned to her extremities. It was not a sexual embrace, but a cuddle for survival. The fox fell into a deep slumber in the arms of her graduate student, the thick-wolf coat wrapping her up in its warmth. They awoke the next day to the continuous patter of rain drops, grateful that they had chosen high ground to camp in.

"You saved my life." Said Silvia.

"It was the only way. Body-to-body is a key to survival with hypothermia. A heater would have warmed you up too fast and could cause the blood to reach the heart too rapidly." Gary lectured.

"Thanks. I don't need a lecture on it though."

"What do we do now?"

"Stay warm and decide what area to explore next." Said Silvia.

The wolf wished they could hold each other longer. He watched as her nude form went into the changing room, fascinated by the sway of her hips. A tear dripped from the corner of his eye as he longed to hold her again. The canine brought out a bottle of scotch and set out two shot glasses. He put on a pair of khaki shorts and waited for the fox to join him. Silvia returned in gray panties and a T-shirt; she sat at the table.

"Drink this, it will keep you warm." Gary offered.

"Thanks." Said Silvia.

The fox downed several glasses of the amber liquid and a light buzz came to her head. Gary kept pace with her, surprised at her ability to hold her liquor. Gary noticed a change in Silvia this morning. The fox was no longer distant as she had been before. The wolf smelled something different than usual too, her musky aroma was more potent this morning. Gary looked at the vulpine's panties and saw her dampness, she was obviously thinking of something other than science. Before setting out they consumed coffee and dog biscuits; Silvia was beginning to like them.

They dressed and got their equipment for a study of tree number 1046. The forest was warm this morning and the prospects of an excellent day for research were imminent. The caw of a quetzal was heard nearby; they spotted the multicolored bird nesting in a tree close to the one they sought. Silvia and Gary climbed the tree and rested at its peak. The vines formed a natural platform at the peak, so they were careful to remain close to the center. They did not want to risk a 100 feet fall. The researchers set their gear down and caught their breath.

They sat side-by-side discussing their findings thus far. Silvia looked into Gary's eyes with yearning. The vulpine placed her hand on his and stroked it gently. The canine took that as his signal and passionately embraced the fox, his muzzle locked onto hers in a wanton kiss. Gary tasted their breakfast on her saliva. Silvia returned the kiss, her passion flared as she forced her tongue into his mouth. Inhibitions were gone as they moved together. Gary stroked her abdomen underneath her T-shirt, savoring the downy fur. His hands moved to her bosom. He could smell her arousal, the scent spicy and sweet at the same time. Gary loved her and no longer cared about his career. The vulpine took off her shirt revealing herself to the canine. Gary slavered at the sight of her furry orbs. The wolf relished the tactile sensation of her soft fur against his paws as he caressed her and was especially fascinated over her tuft of white fur covering her loins. The loin fur was dripping with her heat, droplets falling and spattering on the platform.

Silvia pounced on Gary to gain the dominant position over the wolf, straddling his abdomen. The fox stroked his fur and began licking him about his chest and neck; her wet tongue matted the fur where it lapped. Gary petted the small of her back. They caressed one another for a long time before the vulpine stood up. The fox slided her shorts and panties down her legs; the underwear was drenched. Gary removed his shorts revealing his arousal. Silvia was appreciative of his excitement. Tears welled in her eyes as Silvia gazed at Gary; she wanted him very much.

Silvia went onto her hands and knees, raised her tail, and revealed her petals to the wolf. He knew he couldn't fit inside her with a full knot. The canine closed his eyes and tried to think of organic chemistry formulas. A warm drizzle came down upon them, the water drenching their fur. Silvia looked back at him as he plunged inside. The fox yarfed with his prod, closing her eyes with the sensation of being filled. Gary's member expanded, tying fox and wolf together. The fox giggled as a whiff escaped her canal. Snarling intensely, Gary moved his mass within her. The tree shook with each move they made. Gary lurched backwards to lie on his back taking Silvia with him; she now straddled him with her tail brushing his chest. She was now in control of her own bliss. The fox crooned ravenously as she thrashed with elation. Silvia panted as she squirmed in the throes of pleasure; drool dripped from her lolling tongue to puddle on the vines. The fox took in the deep scent of the wet wolf; her head spun with his aroma of arousal.

Gary erupted inside the vulpine, filling her up with his emissions. Gary took the time to make sure Silvia was satisfied. He stroked her loins for a long duration, bringing her to the peaks of bliss. Silvia growled savagely with the quivering convulsions of her rapture. Gary embraced Silvia intimately as their union continued. Silvia yelped as she withdrew from his knot, a reverberating squelch echoed through the trees. The vulpine squealed as secretions spouted from her orifice to coat the canine fur.

The fox and the wolf spent a few more weeks studying the trees. Silvia had collected about six interesting samples. During the day, they performed research and they spent their nights in each other's arms. The rain came and went many times during their exploration, but they knew to find warmth when the rain was nippy. Silvia and Gary became mates for life and were the subject of much gossip at their university. Many further expeditions were instigated in the years following this, eventually in three years from now, Dr. Rogers found a fungus that proved to be useful in the treatment of HIV. She was celebrated by the scientific community and Gary; now Dr. Davis was there to help her in her research and, of course, to help her relax.
