Avataress Trilogy:

Origins and Secrets 3. The Ways of the Mortals

I am Fortitunus, the goddess of ultimate strength, the incarnate of very muscle growth, power endowment and attribute of invulnerability since the beginning of time. My power shows in every ancient item, spell and wish that goes beyond what mere mortals can try to recreate. It was all a good life for me until the Great War happened. My power could have been used to give my brothers and sisters more power but I held back because by the time the war reached its apex, I could not tell anymore who is good or evil anymore. I can no longer tell what the cause was for in the eons of fighting and with so many worlds destroyed in the process. My oldest and more powerful brother Ultimus wanted more power but all I wanted now was to just stay alive.

After the war, he told us we are dying and the only way of survival now is to enter mortal bodies and become avatars. Seeing there is no choice, me and my siblings scoured the universe until we found who we needed. I found mines on Earth, with June. The ways of the mortals differ no matter where you look. These strange and frail creatures are indeed that in the first hours roaming around this primitive planet. But in that time, I made me wonder why my brothers and sisters would see them and look down upon them unlike the way I see them. Maybe it is an opportunity to see what these creatures can really do. I see they are capable of doing great things and terrible ones as well. But the one who can show me better is my host, a girl named June. Because of me, I threw the poor girl into a world beyond her comprehension. Already getting used to having a body no one in the history of her world could possess, June will see and feel everything that I can do with her in exchange to learn more of the mortal ways.

We fly through the daytime skies faster than any aircraft. Feeling the air flow through my white and brown mane and newly forged short cape, it is indeed normal to me but for June, she sees this as an incredible rush. Then I saw a strange metal flying machine and asked it what it is. It was those airplanes I mentioned before and I couldn't help but laugh a bit seeing mortals use such contraptions to fly. But I understand that they are not like us. Flying past the craft with a sonic boom before they can spot the sight of a thirty-foot tall super-vixen fly past them. Gathering more space and time to fly around freely, June was having fun with her new form. A feeling I once had when I fly through the cosmos

We took rest on top of a mountain range and then asked June about the comics that I got the idea of the costume from. Why does she look up to this "Ultravixen" when there are no one in this world that even come close to her level of strength and power. June's answer enlightens me because it wasn't just pure physical strength and muscles that makes Ultravixen what she is. But her determination, bravery, defiance in the face of hopelessness and compassion that makes her admirable over her gigantic body. Qualities I wished I had at the time of the war. I then looked and spotted a group of people riding more strange machines. June calls them "snowmobiles" and to her they are too far from the path. I took a great leap from one mountain top to the next to get a closer look to why they are so far from the path. Those foolish mortals were running those accursed machines through unstable snow. The moment one of them revved their engines to high.

The noise starts off an avalanche that grew huge and was heading for them and resort. June wants to save them all I can do is learn. Under her guidance, we swoop down to save the snowmobilers first and get them to safety but then ran off screaming at the sight of us. Stupid mortals, as if they never seen a goddess before. The avalanche then continues to make its way to the resort and still under her guidance, we both make a run to the rush. Seeing the resort, many are trying to run but it was impossible to outrun the wall of snow. June sees the wall but then got scared, not knowing what to do. But I did, I raised my hands and slapped them together. The massive explosion dissipates the wall of snow and went over the resort. As the power cleared, it showed the damage was minimal. Better than would could have been if we didn't intervene. The survivors then surrounded us and soon cheered for saving the day, in contrast to the snowmobilists earlier.

I told June that it is over now but I wondered about her moment of fear. She did admit she was afraid, even with the power right in front of her to stop it. I honestly don't know what fear is or even if there is a word for it overall. I flew over and took a long around until June spots something in the snow. It was a hand sticking out of the snow. I try to understand what it means June tells me to fly away as soon rescue teams arrive. I try to understand that that though the whole town is saved, some lives would end up being lost in the process. Even with all the power, she can't save everyone. That poor soul in the snow is proof of that. I decided to take over while June consoles herself in dealing with the reality of it all.

She tells me about how things do not work the way you want them to be no matter how much you can try. Something I also never learned when you're a god until I became an avatar to this mortal girl. To learn of such limitations and shortcomings. We both decided to go back home. Night fell and people in the neighborhood would be less curious to spot a vixen of such power land again in their backyard. I gave June her body back and she returned to normal just to go through the doorway again. I now wanted to see what its like to be mortal through her eyes as June did as a super-being. I wanted to know what it feels like. The avalanche was just one lesson to see but soon more to come. Like watching these things called "News" on television and they talk about us and how we saved the resort from the disaster. But while there are injures, there are no deaths, including the one who June found in the snow. This brings a sigh of relief to her as I can imagine but that lesson still stood with me even though I felt indifferent. There is so much to learn about them but June needed sleep. Another thing I have to do since we gods don't need sleep food or shelter.

The next morning I came to experience more mortal feelings, like waking up to the incessant sounds of buzzing. I had to stop it, so I took her body bulked her arm up and smashed the source of that noise along with the shelves and floor. June woke up is pulled by the weight of her huge arm. She's understandably upset because I smashed an alarm clock that they use to wake up in the morning instead of just doing it naturally. June struggles to get up but I had to turn her arm back to normal. Then came more experiences such as showering, brushing teeth and my soon favorite experience, food. I never had tasted things like toast, eggs and bacon before, but it was so strange but good. It was strange of June to ask if I have ever eat before. But this experience is an adventure to me as saving lives is to this mortal.

Jobs, friends who filled the conversation about the giant vixen and even having enemies that I can just smash to pieces but June keeps holding me back. Then came our time at the beach near her workplace. June asks me about what her powers mean and I demonstrated that by asking her to pick any weakling and she chose a weakling rabbit who was trying to impress with an impossible set of weights. June knows, he's going to hurt himself, I told June to simply point and let me do my work. In seconds, the rabbit's muscles explode, tearing through his clothes and the weight he struggles to life is now a feather to him. By the time I finished, he became a three-ton mountain of muscle with tight torn shorts that can barely contain his tremendous package.

June's jaw dropped at the sight and is amazed with what she can do. I was going to change him back but out of some show of sympathy, June wants me to let this being keep his new muscles. There it was on the spot that a friendship is made with this moral and even gave me a nick name on the spot. Thought I didn't like it and was disrespectful to a goddess, I soon grew to like the name "Fortie" as the day moved on it was more and more justification to why these mortals who are limited to everything feel so unlimited to do everything. Admittedly there are things I don't miss or like such as using the bathroom but seeing her with friends and family, it made me realize that I can not just take this anymore and had to tell June the truth and can only hope she can take it well. Back at the house and with all that we had together, I mustered up the strength to finally tell her. June, her soul was not supposed to remain the moment she takes over. June at first doesn't understand until I really mean she is supposed to be removed, destroyed. The moment of her possession is a fluke and did not expect her soul to remain fully intact to even survive let alone co-exist. But she did and now stand as one being.

I was really hoping for her to understand but she grew upset that she was meant to be taken, killed just so she can take her body and live on. June subconsciously demands me to leave her body, driving herself into tears for learning this but I had to tell her that I can't leave. Before June can answer, out of the ether a giant female wolf with antennae appeared before us. With an impossibly built body like our Avataress form, she answered for her. If Fortitunus leaves jer body, they will both die.
