Chapter 12
#12 of Hunger Games 2.0
The guard puts the gun away, and delta points the cannon down, allowing the guard to approach. As the guard opens the med pod, the first thing he sees the straps used to tie down raikes.
"you may proceed" the guard says, after checking the wounded leg, and closing the med pod.
Without a word, delta goes towards the emergency ward, and notices sera there as well.
"sera" delta says, opening the faceplate.
"delta? What are you doing here?" Sera asks, carefully hiding her baby bump.
"raikes is hurt, and needs help immediately. No one will help me, because of the suit. Maybe you can hit the doctor button, and help me out?" delta asks, noticing the belly bulge.
"ok, but only because raikes is my cousin" sera answers, pushing the button.
Immediately, a team of doctors rush in, thinking that its time, but are greeted by delta in the raptor suit, kneeling beside raikes.
"what are you doing here?" The first doctor asks, seeing the loaded weapons.
"trying to help my friend. And you can help a lot better than I can right now" delta responds, using the same attitude as the doctor.
"why do you have the G22 raptor, inside the hospital?" the last doctor asks, knowing they were destroyed years ago.
"hades" delta says, holding raikes' hand.
"should've known. That boy doesn't follow orders at all" another doctor says, watching delta stroke raikes' hand.
"boy? He looks 30" delta says, shocked.
"hes a boy. He got lost in a mine shaft while on a school excursion, and stumbled upon our surface base. Needless to say, he was recruited then and there. The first mortal demon" the last doctor says, seeing the bullet wound on raikes for the first time, as delta jumps up in shock.
"how did she get hurt?" the first doctor asks, also seeing the wound.
"training camp overrun by a pirate group" delta answers.
"that wasn't a pirate group. Live fire training exercise" the first doctor says.
"a what?" delta asks, standing up to his full height.
"he dragged you guys into a training exercise" the first doctor says, wary of the suit and its weapons.
Delta runs out of the emergency ward, and towards the entrance of the hospital. The doctors turn and watch him, ordering a total lockdown once he leaves the building.
"no, youll anger him more, if you keep him from me" raikes says, waking up to see delta leave the room.
"He is a danger to this hospital. I wont have him inside the building" the head of department says, entering the room, after moving out of deltas way.
"and youll upset him by denying contact with me, leading to bigger problems youll need to deal with" raikes says, trying to get up.
As raikes tries to get up, she puts pressure on the wound, and she screams in pain. At the sound, delta reappears, guns ready. The doctors try to stop delta, but he just pushes past them, and goes straight to raikes, putting her back onto the bed.
"see?" sera says, once delta powers down the weapons. "hes protective of her. You do one thing to harm her, your gone."
"how old is she?" the head doctor asks.
"around nineteen?" sera asks.
"eighteen. And if anything goes wrong, somebody will be paying in blood" delta says, a dark feeling creeping into the room.
As delta finished speaking, hades enters the room, without the suit on, and sees delta in the suit.
"whats going on?" hades asks, seeing the cannons glowing.
"why did you drag these kids into the training battle?" the head doctor asks.
"john, if I knew it was training, I wouldn't have done it. And besides, the alarm went off" hades replies.
"unacceptable. The notice went around, notifying each combat department of the drill" john states, shaking his head.
"I wasn't in my office. Had to get these guys away from the core flares" hades counters.
John shakes his head, and walks out, angered by how hades used two teens, nearing adulthood. John puts inserts an earpiece, and connects his phone.
"john to security. I have a situation in the emergency ward. Extreme caution advised, due to a delicate situation present. No weapons necessary" john says, talking to denis, the head of security.
"john, I don't think I work well in delicate situations. You might need jemma for this one. Her or paul" denis says, looking at the CCTV live streams.
"ok, ill try them"john says, haning up, then dialing another number.
"hello, jemma speaking" a voice answers.
"Gemma, I need help with a delicate situation in the emergency ward. Security wont be much help" john says, knowing jemma also has CCTV footage available.
"im seeing it now. How the hell did that girl get hurt?" Gemma asks.
"sniper bullet in the training exercise. She has extensive damage to the femur and surrounding muscle" john answers, still seeing the medical scan on his glasses.
"and im seeing hades in the room. Is he the cause of all this?" Gemma asks.
"unfortunately, yes. And the kid in the G22 raptor, wants to kill him, for causing the bullet wound" john answers.
"I don't blame him. Ill be right down. I need to get a few things" gemma says, looking at the box next to her.
John goes back into the room, and sees delta's face for the first time. With an angry look and tears, delta didn't look good. The only thing john worried about right now, was getting past delta, to help raikes. With the weapons still active, delta could hurt everyone attempting to get near raikes, without a second thought. As john was going to attempt to go to raikes, Gemma arrives, wearing a red dress.
"so, whats the name of the kid in the suit?" gemma asks, after getting over the shock of the situation in full.
"delta" hades says, seeing gemma.
"isn't that your name as well?" gemma asks.
"on missions, yes. Here, its easier to use real names" hades answers.
Gemma walks towards the bed containing raikes, and delta whips his head around at the footsteps, and she stops.
"we want to help you. And the only way we can do that, is if you let us" gemma says, noticing that delta is only watching what she is doing.
"and how can I let you help? The person who was meant to teach me fire manipulation led us into a trap, and is possibly helping those that want us dead" delta says, anger in his voice.
"you can control fire?" gemma asks.
"why is it such a big deal?" delta asks.
"because I can as well" gemma says, producing a flame in her hand.
"and i assume everyone here can control any of the elements?" delta asks, choking the fire with his own.
"no. actually, this place produces only fire controllers" gemma says, tweaking her fire into caging deltas flame.
"then why was a fire controller born away from here?" delta asks, extinguishing the flame.
"because you are one of the chosen five" gemma says.
"im what?" delta asks, holding his head and sits downs.
"it was foreseen, that five children would be born, with the ability to control fire, water, air, earth and darkness. These five children would unite all the realms and defeat the one who has the power to destroy entire realms without moving" gemma recites.
"the enemy, is serena snow. I know the earth, fire, air and water controllers, but who is darkness?" delta asks.
"actually, your father doesn't count, as he wasn't born with it. The earth controller is actually Matthew. I've seen him watch Peeta and Morith, and his attention doesn't falter. And I'm guessing that sera's child is darkness" hades says.
"how did you know I was pregnant?" sera asks.
