#3 of Drako Tygon

Hey, this is a book that's borderline Scifi, borderline Teen Fiction and borderline Fantasy. It's about a college student, named Charley Steel, who's granted the power of a dragon, combined with the power of the tiger. He faces off against a super telepath named Dr Psyche. Charles finds he needs the help of the only family he's got left, along with the love of his life. But will he triumph, or will it all end in despair? Have fun!

I woke up to a loud ringing in my ears. No, ear. The one that had my communicator. I looked at the clock. It was 12:01, A.M. I said, "Deactivate," and then got my suit on. I got to the window, then leapt out, letting the wind wake me up, and then let my downward speed transfer to lateral, and I flew down the street, flying faster and faster with every beat of my heart, as well as my wings. I saw a guy getting mugged, and I swerved towards them. The mugger saw me and ran down an alleyway. The victim gave me a thumbs-up. I continued on my way.

When I got to the address, I was surprised. All that I saw was rubble and ruined structural columns and walls. I landed, and some guys came out of the shadows of the ruins, They were holding guns, but not like they had actually used one before. The one in front said, "Who are you?" I replied, "I'm Drako Tygon." They lowered their guns. I said, "What happened here?" The guy said, "It came like a mist, then started to eat through the walls. After that, it started to eat through the people. They were screaming, and screaming. I couldn't help! I tried to help, but I just... couldn't... Oh God! " He collapsed into sobs. I supported him, and said, "It's all right, it's OK. But you need to tell me, who did this?" He pointed at a wall. I looked, and saw some writing on the wall. "Dark Spirit." Right away, I knew who it was. David.

Jamie landed a few yards away from us just then. She was wearing red pleather pants and a loose red and black silk shirt. She said to me, "What happened?" I said to her, "David, that's what happened. He killed the people, and we don't know why." The man said, as he looked at the ground, "It took one of the prisoners. Um, Dr. Psyche. The rest were killed by the acid mist." He broke into sobs again. "Sound like someone you know?" I asked. She said, "Yes, Dr. Psyche, he is a powerful psychic. He had a bunch of robots that he controlled with his mind. We finally destroyed his creations, well, David did most of the destroying. Maybe Psyche found a way to brainwash him, I don't know." I said, "I never asked. So, how was he contained, if he's this powerful psychic?" She answered, "To tell you the truth, I don't know that much about it. All I know is that they used tons of H2P, or Bihydrophosphate, a liquid fire bomb." I nodded. Sounded as if internal explosions keep his mind occupied.

I looked around in the wreckage for some clue as to where they might have gone. I asked Jamie, "What color is his hair?" She replied, "Dark brown. Why do you ask?" I answered, "I might be able to find some dandruff or shed hair. It might lead us to wherever David is taking him."

I saw a few strands of hair, but they were golden. Then, I saw an IV tube, and some brown strands of hair, and a set of prints in the ash leading away from the ruins. I followed the prints. I saw a second prints form in the ash, as if from mid-air. I followed these prints with my eyes, and they met with the other set. They led towards the hills.

Jamie asked me, "Did you find something?" I said, "Yea, I found something. These prints lead to the hills. I hope this wasn't Homebase." She said, "Na, we wouldn't have something that important above ground. Look." She led me to an aria in the rubble. She cleared away some ash, and revealed a door with a hand-panel. She pressed her hand on it, and the door opened up. She went down the ladder. I followed her. When I got inside, what I saw blew my mind.

There must have been hundreds of technicians. There was at least three computers per person, so that made at least twelve hundred computers in the room! I tried to shut down my math brain, because it was just overwhelming me with what it was spitting out about energy input and how much it must cost to run this place on Face-Book alone. I looked at the shinny white walls, and my eyes just couldn't believe it. Nearly every one of the political figures for our community was in this room, except for the Democrats.

I walked behind Jamie, and she led me to a door at the far side of the room we were in. She knocked. The door opened up. She walked in, and turned around. "I'm going to introduce you to the group, then you can come in." The door shut, and I stood there, and stood there, and just when I decided to turn my math brain on again, the door opened again. I walked inside.

Everyone in there was in a superhero suit. The door closed behind me, and a chair scooted out from the table in the middle of the room. I sat down. The man seated at the far end of the table said, "My name is Tornado. Firefairy has told us some amazing things about you. You can heal within 5.64 seconds and 19 nanoseconds, you have the ability to grow a tail with four blades on the tip, as well as dragon wings. You have extremely heightened senses, and you have claws. Anything else that I missed?" I said to him, "Yes sir, I can lift over six-hundred pounds and my wings are bullet proof. And that's about it."

He said, "Is there anything else you need to tell us? Like any weaknesses that might prove useful to the enemy?" I responded, "No sir, my brother died in a drug deal, my father and my mother died from drug abuse, and I'm not attached to anyone else that couldn't defend themselves fairly well in a fight." He smiled. He said, "You'd be surprised how well. Your half-brother, David, is standing right behind you. And your cousin, Leah is sitting over there. And they can't just fight fairly well, but extraordinarily well." He pointed to a spot near my seat. I looked behind me first.

I could vaguely see a figure standing behind me. I said, "Dave?" The figure decloaked. He was wearing a black skintight suit that had silver lines running all along his body. It was David. I stood up and hugged him. He said, "Easy, I'm not at strong as you are. I mean, six hundred pounds?!? Man, when I last saw you, you were skinny as a bean pole, and it tool you twice as long as Randy to chop down a three-inch wide tree!" I let go of him. I said to him, "So obviously you have invisibility, but what else do you have?" He replied, "I can generate mini black holes in my hands, and I can bend light around me. They call me Vortex." I laughed.

Leah came up to me. I hugged her. She hugged me back, just as strong as I did. I said, "Oh, it's been so long! I thought I wouldn't see you 'till I finished college! And the last time I saw you was when I finished in Truman! What's your powers?" She said, "I can summon the characteristics of certain animals, like the strength of a maddened grizzly or gorilla. They call me Berserk-Beast. I'm so proud of you!"

"How did that happen?" I asked. She said, "A bear came up to me, and collapsed. I started checking it for disease, and I checked it's gums. A tooth had been shattered, and cut through my skin. Later, I found out that it had died of radiation poisoning."

Tornado said, "Back to the matter at hand?" I said, "Yes, Tornado." He said to me, "There was some activity on the surface, maybe you could elaborate on that?" And so I related to him what the survivor had told me, and what my fear was. "I think that we need to prepare for the same thing that happened when Psyche first appeared." This brought up some mumbling from the people in the room. I saw from Jamie's face that I had said it the right way. I said, "We need to prepare for an attack beyond our imagination, because now it's not just Dr. Psyche, but an ex-vigilante named Dark Spirit. He's more powerful than anything that I could ever think up. I don't know how powerful all of you are, but the only way I could contain him was by catching him with fire before he turns into mist. I suggest that we act now, before they have the time to amass their army."

Tornado said, "Unfortunately, that's up to the bureaucrats. Of course, we can give them our opinion, but the political leaders barely listen to the solders." I couldn't believe it. I couldn't just let some insane man build an army to destroy us. I said as much to Jamie. Jamie said, "There's little we can do about it, except to prepare for the worst. Like Tornado said, it's the bureaucrats that have all of the power."

Later, after the meeting, I scowled at the center of the table, brooding over what we could ever do to prepare for such a cataclysm as what lay before us. I could imagine what it might look like. The sky burned red as fire, and smoke filled in the horizon. A city burned in the background. A metallic army beneath a hill, with two men on the top of the hill, one with an enlarged cranium, the other in a dark cloak, his sword gleaming in the evening sun.

Our small force, with six figures in front, one in a grey suit, one with a green and brown suit, one in a black and silver suit, one in a red and black suit, one in a red suit, and one in a black suit. Our army was small, with un-uniform ranks and mixed coloring.

These two armies clashed, and the leaders of our group lifted towards the leaders of our enemies. Then I felt someone shaking me, and I woke as if from a dream. I almost took David out, then I saw his face. I said, "Sorry, what happened?" Dave said, "What happened? What happened?!? You blackout and all you can say is What happened?!? Well, you fall over backwards, and so we set you back up again, thinking that you had fainted, but you wouldn't wake up, and so we brought you to the infirmary. Then we had you hit around a few times, then we left you alone for a while, then after twelve hours you woke up." I said to him, "I saw something. I think I saw the fight between us and Dr. Psyche. I, I don't know, but I think I may have premonition abilities."

I was rushed to Tornado, and David said to him what I had said to Dave. Tornado's eyes became large. "I can't turn it on and off like my other powers, I don't think." Tornado said, "All you have to do is remember. We have technology that can help in that regard." A woman in a white lab coat placed small dot-like things on my temples, my forehead, and my cheeks. She said, "These will help to conjure up these memories by stimulating the memory receptors in your brain. Then you can tell us what you see. Powering up... now."

Images swirled in my head, and I tried to focus on the scene that I had witnessed. Something was coming up. "I see a hill, like the one that Dr. Psyche and Dark Spirit had fled to. The sky is red, and smoke is filling the sky. A man in a dark cloak stands at the top of the hill, and he has a sword with him. I can see right through him, as if he was a mist. He's standing beside a man in a white lab coat. This man has a large cranium, and his eyes glow purple. In front of them is an army of massive proportions, and they cast a metallic shine. They number in the thousands.

"A second army stands in front of the ruins of a great city, possibly New York. They have a mixed color, and are standing without ranks or columns. In front of them stand six people. One is in a grey suit who has wind swirling towards him, lifting him up slightly. One in a black and silver suit and has dark spirals in his palms, drawing in matter.

"One with fairy wings and in a red suit, with fire in her palms. Another had grey skin, sort of blocky. One without much of a suit at all, except for pants. This one had a tail that curves over him, with a blade at the tip. One in a green and brown suit, and some sort of bear-like aura around her. Another one was in complete black, with several blades on his body. There was a very large silver and black man who gave off a green shimmer. Then the last one has a red and black suit, with dragon wings coming out of his back and a tail with four prongs on the tip. It might be me, but I'm not sure."

Tornado said to me, "Thank you, my boy, that is very comforting." Before he could say more, I said, "But that isn't all of it. When we had completely destroyed the metal army, the two men, who I believe are Dr. Psyche and Dark Spirit, lifted up and moved behind a large army of men in rough tan clothing. these men started to shoot at us, with missiles and bullets. We were driven back, towards the coast line. Then, choppers and boats and tanks seemed to cut off our retreat. Our force had been nearly cut in half.

"Then, out of the helicopters and boats came men in hero-suits, and the tanks started to shoot at the tan army. The tan army was completely decimated by our new allies. Victory over the hill is ours. That's all I can see. Sir, if we're to survive this attack, we need to call in all of the super heroes from all over the country, and suggest that our foreign allies gather their super heroes together and bring them here." Tornado said, "It's all right, we'll do what we can. That was already our main objective, but it looks like we'll need to hasten our efforts. Drako, would you mind helping in the search?" I responded, "I'd be honored, sir. Can I make a request, sir?"

He said, "Granted, what is it?" I said, "I would like to have Firefairy, Vortex, Berserk-Beast, and Scorpio Panther on my team, as well as anyone that you would suggest." He responded, "Only one person would I add to your list. Gamma-Bot."

A door opened behind him, and a large man, scratch that, a large half man/half robot, walked out from the space behind the door. Grid lines ran down his right arm, half of his face and one eye was robotic, and his left leg gave off a metallic shimmer. His human parts were Caucasian, and looked very tough. He had on a pair of black dress pants that had the left leg cut off, and a suit that looked like it was built for a man twice his height, but that seemed impossible as he was well over six feet tall.

Tornado said, "Gamma-Bot, originally human, was kidnapped by Dr. Psyche, and was experimented on, and escaped. We found him, and treated him psychiatrically for the trauma. We told him that there were others like him, with special gifts. He has learned how to control his metal body, and his flesh is at least as strong as his metal parts."

Gamma-Bot smiled and said, "He exaggerates, but my meat is very close to being as strong as my machinery. My original name is George." I said to him, "Welcome to the team. My name is Drako Tygon." I held out my right hand. He took it. His strength was much greater than my own. When he let go, I pulled my bones back to their right places. They healed as fast as usual, but I still felt the pain of hem breaking. I said, "Man, you're strong."

He answered, "You're a strong man yourself, for your bones to be able to withstand my grip." I said to him, "Oh, you broke my bones alright, it's just that my bones, and everything else, heal very quickly." I saw his hand change from a hand to a cannon. He said, "May I?" I nodded. His cannon shot a green beam at my arm. All that was left was bone. My flesh grew back extremely fast. Everyone in the room gasped.

I said, "So now you know the extent of my power. Do you want to be on my team?" He said to me, "If your goal is to kill Dr. Psyche, then yes." I said, "It isn't, but my goal is to kill his right hand ghost." I related to him what had happened on the surface, and Jamie gave him the notes of what I said during my psychic memory. He nodded. "Then let's get going. We have to be ready by this thing, right?" We all nodded. I asked Dave, "By the way, what's your weapon?" He took out his pen, and activated it. It lengthened into a spear. He said, as if he read my mind, "Leah has a staff, but she gets mad for some odd reason if you ask her about it."

I walked away from him, and said to my new team, "Now, like Gamma-Bot said, we'd better get going," and I flew to my dorm, packed lots of hotdogs and condiments into a bag, as well as a bunch of graham crackers, chocolate and marshmallows. I left a note on the door for Tom, saying that I would be gone for a while. I flew back to the base, just in time for the others to come with their supplies. George walked out and said, "Let's get to it."

Leah started to change, and an aura of an eagle surrounded her. Gamma-Bot had some sort of jetpack come out of his back. I grew wings, and said, "Someone should carry Scorpio." Stephan said, "No need." He took out a backpack, and pressed a button, and wings and an engine popped out. He took out a helmet, and put it on. Firefairy said, "Silly you, needing a helmet," and then her wings grew out. Dave said, sarcastically, "Oh, no need to carry me. Sheesh." He pressed a button on his suit, and a helmet folded out over his head like a convertible's roof. I decided it was time to go, so I lifted off the ground. The others followed me.

First, we moved up to the states above New York. We found one in the entire area, not even that powerful. We sent him to the base. Next, we went to Montana, since Firefairy felt nothing as we flew over Michigan, Minnesota and Dakota. She only felt something as we flew over a college name University of Montana Western. Jamie said that the signal seemed more powerful than the last one. We landed at the outskirts of the town.

Stephen and I gathered wood for a fire, since it was coming on winter. I lit the fire before the wood could get wet from the snow. I took out the hotdogs. I was going to find a stick to put them on, but decided that I could just rest them in my palm. I took out a few, and said, "Who ever wants a hotdog, just take one." I cooked my hotdogs, then put them on buns, and put a ton of ketchup on them. I ate one, and while I was in the middle of the second, a snowball hit the back of my head. I laughed, turned around, and made my own ball. I looked up.

The one who threw it wasn't in our group. The boy was around sixteen years old. When he saw my face, he turned to run, and ran strait into the steel chest of Gamma-Bot. Firefairy said, "Drako, he's the one I was sensing." I said to her, "Are you sure?" She nodded. I walked to the boy, and I changed back to my original form. I took the boy by the shoulders. I asked him, "What's your name?" He answered, "My name's Jake Connor."

I said to him, "We are superheroes. My name is Drako Tygon, this fellow is Gamma-Bot, and these are Firefairy, Berserk-Beast, Vortex, and Scorpio Panther. You have powers stronger than most of the ones that we've found(slight exaggeration, but no need to tell him that). I must ask you, do you know what your powers are?" He nodded. Then he held out his hand. Snow gathered on his palm, and started to stick together, making a sculpture. He set it down on the ground, then it grew and grew, and then, it looked like a sculpture of me. Firefairy said, "So you can control ice. That's, cool." Stephen said, "Oh, that's so original." He walked forward. "We are part of a top secret government group, whose reason is to eliminate crime in the United States of America. Simply put, we're superheroes."

I added, "Of course, that doesn't mean that there are only superheroes in America. But you're not alone." He said, "Yeah, that's what the psychiatrist keeps telling me." I almost laughed. I asked, "Why had you been seeing a psychiatrist?" He answered, "Because I told the wrong people about my powers. They think I'm having hallucinations. Maybe you people are hallucinations. Maybe..." I shut him up with a punch in the arm. "Was that a hallucination? I can burn you if you want it to feel more real." He said, "No, no. That's okay. So, what do I have to do?"

I handed him a ticket. I said, "When you get to this destination, go to the ticket counter, and type in this password," I handed him a slip of paper with a sequence of numbers and letters. "An agent or a hero will get to you. You will be given training, equipment, and all the information you need. We need all the help we can get." I packed up my stuff, finished my hotdogs, and slung my bag over my shoulder. "This is a chance," I said to him, "to do something right." I transformed, then lifted off the ground.

I circled around the camp until the others were off the ground. We flew to the PNW, and it looked like there were hundreds of heroes there, knowing or not. Some of them had a really high concentration of Destiny particles. A few of them could change their shape, some were super strong, and the rest had assortment normal powers, like fire, flight, laser vision, speed, enhanced reaction time, enhanced endurance, or invincibility.

One of them calls himself Blade Cat. His secret identity is Martin Slade. He dresses up in a leather suit and a mask with pointed ears. He has numerous blades on him, including two swords. He even has his own motorcycle, called the Cat-a-cycle. He has enhanced reaction time and strength, and is trained in all Martial Arts. He should make a fine addition to our group.

We moved down towards California, Nevada, Arizona, and Utah. There were twenty in that aria. There was a few strange powers like a man who had skin made out of stone and super strength, or a woman that had an elastic body, which could form any shape. There was a man who could cling to walls and change his skin color to match the background. All of them seemed willing to go. We returned to the base, seeing that the other teams had been just as successful in their attempt to round up superheroes. We did indeed have a sizable army. I smiled to myself. We might survive this after all.
