#1 of Altered Affection Series

Hello SoFurry community, I am a new member that just recently joined. This is my first story so I hope to get feed back and constructed criticism. It's my first story series, and my first story. I'm not the best writer and I know this is a generic story, but I'm starting out small. This first chapter is probably a bad introduction, but I'll fix it next chapter. Hope you enjoy, thanks.

It was a scorching summer day in July. Kameron was out that day going for a jog around the schools track field. It was empty and there was no one in sight, a perfect opportunity to enjoy some peace and quiet outside for once. But the summer sun didn't dare to cooperate with the fox. Each second Kameron was out there, its rays stung like a thousand needles penetrating through his fur. Sweat kept running down his forehead but seemed to evaporate every time the blazing heat hit his face.

The summer sun beat down on the fox as he panted and gasped for breath. His white t-shirt and gray cargo shorts felt awfully heavy, not to mention sticky and hot which added to the discomfort of the scorching heat. Every step he took hit a nerve that sent a tingling pain through his legs and then upwards towards his chest and arms. He didn't know what he was doing outside, it seemed ludicrous for someone to be running outside on a blazing hot day like this.

He should have just stayed in and watched a movie. Though, he wondered about what his friends were up to. He wanted to go to their houses, but the last time he went to one of his friends house, he saw a stash of porn collections underneath a bed. Not just any porn collection, it was tentacle porn. The fox shuddered as he remembered flipping through the pages of one of the porn collections while he waited for his friend to come back from the bathroom. That was the last time Kameron would ever spent a night at their house.

He then started to wonder about his father. Kameron's father was a priest that worked at a local church a few blocks away from his home. Kameron would usually help his father when ever he needed assistance, but he didn't really like working or going to church. The fact is, he is gay. No one else knows about it, and if his father ever found out, god knows what he'd do to him. But Kameron doesn't like to think about those sort of things, he just focuses his mind on something else to distract himself. If he ever worried about something like that, it would probably manifest it's self into an actual problem he'd have to deal with everyday, which is what he manages to avoid.

He still wondered why he went out for a jog knowing willingly it would be this hot. He began to imagine himself at his house, confined within the walls of his air-conditioned house, away from this unbearable heat.

As he was jogging around the field, he heard faint noises coming from the park. Kameron would usually jog around the park, but today it was full of people and he didn't like that. He didn't like hanging around big groups or people, it just made him distressed, especially when there are kids screaming and yelling from the top of their lungs.

He looked over at the park and admired it's beauty. The trees were swaying gently to the hot, light breeze. The ice cream stand was packed and full of kids and parents, there were children running around, and color kites flying in the bright blue sky. It seemed like your normal average day, hence the blazing heat. He wondered how people could stand this heat.

Behind him, he could hear a pack of players from the football team yelling and screaming. The football team was out today practicing. I wasn't sure if the coach was trying to kill his own players, or he just really likes to make them suffer. Though, I was surprised to see all the players were pumped and ready to play, despite the scorching heat. He decided to ignore and pay little attention to the players as he continued his jog. He wished he had changed his mind because he would regret his decision moments later.

"Watch out!" A voice called out from behind. The fox turned around and *SMACK!*, was all that he heard as a brown leather football hit him square in the head. Kameron lost his balance and hit the ground at full force. He lay there on the hot ground, trying to grasp what just happened.

"Hey man, are you alright?" Through his obscure vision, he recognized that voice, it was August, the captain of the football team. "Huh?" Kameron was still stunned and disoriented from the impact he just took, his mind was confused and attempted to try and piece together what to say.

"It seems you took quite a hit there." August looked back at the football field and scratched his head. _"Just lay down for a bit, things should start to clear up soon." _

Kameron took his guidance and closed his eyes, laying on the hot floor. The large tiger standing over him provided a shade for the fox, thankfully blocking out most of the sun from hitting his face. When his head stopped spinning, he slowly say up and touched his forehead gently. _"I'm fine." _

"Well, sorry about that. My name's August, by the way." August extended his paw towards Kameron. He stared into the tiger's beautiful blue eyes.

"My name's Kameron." The fox says as he took August's soft, firm paw and stood up.

_"Cameron?" _ August questioned.

_"No, Kameron with a 'K'." _

"What an unusual way to spell your name." August says rubbing his chin, avoiding eye contact with Kameron. "Anyways, practice is over me, and I was heading down to Cindy's. It's like a little restaraunt, and since I kind of injured you, I was wondering if you'd like to come, just a little way to apologize." Kameron was pretty astonished, August Heart, the captain of the football team, the hottest tiger in school, was asking me to go along with him. It all seemed too real, he had fantasized about August but he'd never knew he would talk to him like this.

"Well, Y'know, that's unless you have other pla-"

Kameron cut August off before he could finish_. "I'd love too!"_ The fox says with a smiling muzzle. Kameron felt a warm feeling inside him, it's been a long time since he's felt like this way. What ever it was, he didn't want to run away it from.

August escorted Kameron through the gates of the school and they went towards the restaurant. As they walked toward their destination, Kameron wiped some sweat of his forehead. "Geez, it's hot today. What is it, 100 something?" August looked up and stared at the sun. _"Yeah, some where around there." _

The 2 furs walked in silence for a few minutes until August spoke up. "So what brings you out jogging on a hot day like this?"

Kameron stretched his limbs as he walked and scratched his head reluctantly. "Hmm, I'm not exactly sure." He said. "I usually jog when I get stressed, and the track field was pretty empty so I decided to go out for a little run. Turns out the heat brutally raped me, not a good choice." August chuckled a bit and smiled. His smile was adorable, and shimmered like the reflection of the sun in water.

"Alright, we're here." August walked in front of the fox and held the door for him.

"Sweet." The fox walked in and was immediately greeted by the cool, fresh air coming from the A/C. He stood there for a few minutes, allowing the cool air to cool down his hot, sticky fur that was full of sweat. He looked around and found the place to look quite nice. August walked over to a table and Kameron followed promptly. "You wanna get anything to eat?" He asks the fox. _"It's okay, I'll just order a drink." _

After waiting for a few minutes, a waitress came by and took their order_. "What would you like, sir?" The old waitress asks August. "I'll take a smoothie, tropical blast."_ She swiftly writes down his order and turns towards Kameron. "And what would your date like?" Kameron blushed straightaway and put the menu in front of his face. He didn't want the waitress or August to see him blush, he knows that he blushes easily and it's easily detectable through is fur. "He'll take a tropical blast, as well." August said answering for the blushing fox.

"D-Did she call me your date?" The fox asked reluctantly, he was stuttering.. August chuckled. "Haha, I'm sure she was just joking. She loves to joke around, most of the time." Kameron put down the menu and glanced at August, he looked so perfect. Kameron knew that August wasn't into him, almost all the girls wanted him. Hell, he could even get half the guys, with the exception of him. He was kind and sweet, pretty friendly over all. He never knew August was this friendly, when Kameron watched him play in football games, he was the complete opposite of friendly.

"So what do you do other than jogging?" August asked Kameron to break the silence. "I don't really do sports, I'm more into writing and technical computer stuff." The fox answers.

_"Oh that's cool, what kind of stories do you write?" _

Kameron was too embarrassed to answer that, he secretly wrote gay love stories. He didn't want to ruin his friendship with August, if this was even a friendship. _"Oh you know, just regular old stories. I'm no Shakespear but I'm pretty decent." _

"You should let me read one of them one day." August says shooting back at the fox. "Yeah... Someday."

"Though, I thought you played a sport, too." Kameron looked disoriented. "Me? Play a sport? I'm probably the worst fur at sports." August took a glance at him and grinned. "Nah, you look like an athlete. Not like a huge athlete, but an average looking one. I'm surprised you're able to keep that muscle tone." He says pointing at the him. The young fox blushed immediately. He hated how he blushed a lot, especially when it's something so little.

"Oh, look, our smoothies are here." Kameron says, pointing at the waitress who was walking towards them with 2 smoothies in one hand, and a food plate in another. It was probably for another table.

"Here you go boys." The waitress says placing the smoothies on their table. "Thanks." They both say in unison and promptly drink their smoothies. "Mmmm!" Kameron says, "This is delicious!" The fox kept slurping and slurping, it tasted heavenly.

_"Yeah, I know! I like to come here because of the smoothies. They taste delicious and they cool me down all the time after practice. But don't drink too fast or else you'll catch a brain freeze." _

Kameron wished he took the tigers advice because moments later, he felt an agonizing pain surge through is head. The combination of the brain freeze and bruise on his forehead made him almost want to cry. "Ow!" Kameron yells out, holding his head in both paws with his eyes closed.

"I'm sorry!" August cries out, he leans over towards the fox and escorts him up. _"Here, let's go outside, the heat will help." _

August escorted Kameron outside onto the sweltering sunlight. As soon as Kameron came outside, the brain freeze went away quickly. He sighed in relief, "Thanks for help." He says to August.

August looked away. "No need to thank me, I just keep hurting you." Kameron noticed a sad look on his face, but the tiger tried concealing it with a smile. Kameron knew he was faking the smile.

"No need to worry about it." The fox says smiling, throwing his arms around August. That didn't work, he was too tall for him. The beefy hunk stood at 6'3 while the short fox was only 5'7. Instead, he put his paw on his shoulder. _"Thanks for taking me out, though. One of the funnest days I've had, it's been a long time since I've done something like this." _

August quickly smiled, it made me smile, too. "Oh, it was no biggie. Anyways, it's getting late, let me escort you home, not safe to walk alone at night." The fox wanted to say no, he's already done enough, but his gut told him to let him. "Sure." Kameron says. "Where do you live?" August asks. _"On Alexander Street." _

_"That street sounds familiar. Isn't that nearby a church?" _

_"Yeah, my dad works at the church, he's a priest." _ Kameron answers.

_"Oh, interesting. I don't really like church. They tend to force down religion down your throats, I can respect their opinions and beliefs but they discriminate other furs, too. My parents are religious, too. My mom is loving and caring, she loves everyone for who they are. But then there's my dad. He used to be in the military, he can be pretty scary when you look him in the eyes. I looked in his eyes once while he speaking to me and I felt my eye balls melt. It frightened me, and he's pretty strict and religious. He rants on by telling me to go to church more often so I can get help from god, but I don't want to. I don't really believe in a 'god', but I'm not saying they're not real." _

The young fox admired and loved the huge, tall tiger. He wants to tell his father the exact same thing, but then again, his father is all he has left. His mother isn't with them anymore, sadly. Kameron doesn't like thinking about it, he just tries to ignore it and listens to music. Remembering he had his phone, Kameron took out his phone and inserted his earbuds. He turned on some music as he walked with August.

"Hey, can I have your number?" August asks. Kameron stood there, completely frozen. He didn't know what to do, he was blushing. "W-Why do you need my number?" He managed to stutter out. "Just in case you need anything." He replies with a smile on his muzzle. "God his smile is sexy." Kameron said in his head.

_"Okay, my number is 605-453-6545." _

_"Alright, gotcha." _

Both boys walked down the street and reached Kameron's house. "Well here we are." The young fox says. Kameron's house was like any other average looking house - white and brown siding, 2 floors, 2 garage-doors, a couple of windows, and a porch. The lawn was beautifully mowed, it seemed that the gardener came here early today to mow the lawn. Kameron smiled, he had done a good job, especially doing this in the blazing heat.

"Oh yeah, I remember this street, we used to ride the bus together to Johnston." August says looking around the neighborhood. I nodded in agreement. "Yeah, it's been a while." I tell him. _"I remember you were always the kid who sat in the back alone, I never really knew you, did I? But then again, you were also the lonely kid with loads of brains. Weren't you the one who won the 8th grade spelling B?" _

"Yeah, how did you know?" I ask.

"It was all over the papers." Kameron then remembered, the local news decided to make a post about a kid winning the spelling B, it was no where near news worthy. He appreciated the attention and recognition, but he didn't want it. He even begged for them to not print it, it seems they didn't abide and printed it either way.

"My dad was talking about you back then, you know. He told me to hang out with you and make friends and maybe some intelligence will rub off on me." _ They both chucked and looked at the twilight sky. It was beautiful. The stars were shining and the moon was revealing it's silver-white beauty as it shimmered above the heavens. _"Anyways, I have to get going." The fox says. "I don't want my dad to think I was out drinking or anything." He walked on the porch and reached the door.

"Later then! I have to get home, too. I don't want my parents to kill me." August waved at Kameron as he sprinted the opposite direction towards his house. The fox smiled and opened the door. Today was a great day he thought. He got to make friends with the most popular guy in school, which was rather surprising. He walked up the stair steps and marched into his room. He lied on the bed and looked at ceiling with a smile.

Even if August wasn't gay, he was lucky enough to have him as a friend. He remembered his smile, how it felt fuzzy and warmed him up inside.

..And at that point, Kameron new that this was the start of something new - the start of something that he'd never forget.
