Jessica was a very pretty girl, thick fur, thicker chest tuft, always smiled, lots of people looked up to her, even in college. Jess eats some of her chicken pot pie while Sam tries to think of the boy she means, then looking over and admiring the Border Collie. "Well, I'm sure he'll say yes. Oh! That's him isn't it?" Jessica looks up, Sam gently turns the Collie's head the other way. "Ya know, I have no idea." Jess replies.
Samantha chuckles and waves the boy down, and starts talking to him so Jessica can hear him talk, as the pair finish up Jessica asks, "Um, Jason?" He turns back and stops, "Yeah?" Jessica smiles a big smile and looks in the direction of his voice. "Would you.. Like to go to the dance with me..?" Jason, a well built, muscular Cheetah breaks into laughter, he turns to his friends and shouts, "Hey guys! The blind girl thought I'd go to the dance with her!" They all share in some laughter as Jessica panics, trying to find her container lid, grabbing it and putting it back on, hearing Samantha jump from her chair and sounds of struggling. Jess sniffles hard and lets Yukon help her up, the Collie getting her bandana back over her eyes, taking his paw and letting the hybrid guide her along.
Yukon leads her to a table away from everyone else, but still in view and helps her sit down, then taking a seat himself. "What happened?" Jess sniff and takes a breath. "I asked a popular guy out..." Yukon lowers his ears and lightly puts an arm around Jess. "I know how you feel. Being half Wolf and half Jackalope tends to get me treated not too well." Jess raises her ears, then searches for Yukon's face, then slides her paw up to indeed feel deer antlers on his head. She smiles and finds his cheek, rubbing softly. The pair ended up talking some time, Samantha finally did approach and met Yukon, much to Jess' delight Sam seemed to adore the hybrid, describing him to the Collie as Yukon sat there blushing from the praise he was receiving. They decided that Sam's date would come get her then come to Jess' place where Yukon could go ahead and have the special talk with her parents until they arrive. The hybrid gulps and chuckles, but agrees to this arrangement.
Over the next week Yukon spends more time with Jessica, getting to know her better before the night of the dance. When the big night came he pulled up to a lovely farmstead and gulped some, getting out of his car and walking up to the door, wearing a nice tuxedo with a light blue shirt and even had his black and white striped hair brushed back As he comes to the door a male Collie opens it and looks him over, smirking with a nod. "Well, you don't look half as bad as I thought you might." he nudges his head, inviting Yukon in. The hybrid steps in the door and blushes, seeing Jessica coming down the stairs in a gorgeous ice blue dress, they had discussed a theme color but never really decided on it. Yukon walks up the stairs, taking Jess' paw and placing the other around her waist, helping her come down the stairs. As she blushes and thanks Yukon, her dad comes over and gently holds his daughter's paws with a smile. "You look lovely dear.." He turns his attention to Yukon, "Listen, shes a big girl, so I trust her judgment. You wanna get dinner, movie, don't expect me to have a problem. But you take care of my little girl." Yukon nods and earperks when he hears pawpads coming up to the door, Sam opening the door with a hum, stopping and blushing when she sees the pair. "Wow, you guys look good together.. We ready?" The Collie smiles and nods, letting Yukon lead her, he walks slowly, letting Jess follow at her own pace. Her father watches Samantha walk with them, he knew the tiger would keep an eye on Jess.
During the ride to campus Sam and her date, a male Tiger, chat away up front, Jess leans on Yukon's shoulder, resting some as she had been awake all day. Everything goes as expected, the pair mingle some, has some drinks, Yukon even teaches Jess how to slow dance. For the first time in her life Jessica is happy, she felt like Yukon genuinely cared, being with him gave her the same warm feeling that she got when she was around Sam. The night passes too fast for her. The dance, going out to eat, she had the time of her life, but it just wasn't enough, she wanted to keep being happy.. They stayed there awhile longer, just talking while they swing. As it gets late Jessica lets Yukon lead her to the door, then smiles and gives him a hug, letting him go on his way, then slowly making her way to her room. Jess sits on her bed and giggles, closing her paw softly, already missing the warm feeling of Yukon's paw...
That night Yukon took a sip of his drink, sitting on the couch watching some TV, smiling. Rather than watching, he's replaying the night in his mind, sighing softly as he thinks about the gorgeous Collie.

Yukon chuckles and looks to her dad who nods, he watches the pair walk off, looking over at Samantha, standing with him and watching. "She picked a real keeper huh?" Sam says, Jess' father chuckles. "Yeah. I couldn't have asked for better."

Jess takes a deep breath and squeezes his paw. "I love you.." Yukon looked up, smiling some, "I love you too... Promise you'll call?" She brings his paw to her cheek and rubs softly.. "Every day.. Are you busy tomorrow?" Yukon nods, forgetting she can't see. "Yeah.. I start work tomorrow.. I'll come see you off, I promise." Jess smiles and nods, tearing up as he slides around, the pair hugging at the table, eventually Yukon has to leave, Jess walks him to his car and waves as he leaves, she does good though, doesn't shed a tear until she gets to her bedroom.. Jess spends the next day packing, Sam came to help but notices that the cheerful Collie doesn't smile once. "You're going to miss him, and its going to hurt, hun." Jess chokes up some and nods. "I know. But he wanted me to go, not to waste what I spent my time in college on.." Sam sighs, getting Jess' bag to the door for the next day. "Are you sure you want this?" Jess manages a small laugh, "No.." Sam sighs and gives she friend a hug, "I'll come see you off in the morning, I need to get home and start supper. Just, think about this and make sure It's what you want." Sam and Jess exchange one more hug before the Tigress has to get going..
The next morning Yukon walks into the store to get some flowers for Jess, He spots Sam and smiles, walking over, "Hey you.." She looks up at Yukon. "I need to talk to you.." Yukon walked out, taking his place on the alter to wait, but before the music starts Jess' father stands up, turning to everyone. "I just have something to say. I wanted people to know why I'm not walking my daughter down the aisle. You see, her friend Samantha, ever since they met in elementary school has held my daughter's hand everywhere. The store, school, everywhere they went that's how Samantha helped guide Jessica. I felt that she held my daughter's hand this long, she should be the one to give her away."
